    Hurricane

This is the most peculiar scent I have witnessed thus far in my BPAL addiction. Immediately upon opening the imp, it smelled green and murky to me, with a tinge of aquatic goodness. BUT, it changed dramatically, quickly, and I cannot get past what it turned into: fake plastic smelling halloween red lips. Ok, they aren't plastic, you know those red lips you put over your own, I think they are made out of wax? WELL if you bite into them, this TASTE comes of out of them, all plastic and such...and that is exactly what hurricane turned into on me. Rats. Oh well, off to swap perhaps. *running to look at BPAL page for more scents to buy!*

    Pumpkin Patch I (2005, 2006)

Pumpkin with apple cider and mulling spice. Pumpkin Patch 1 is to f*ing die for. LOVE it. Wet: pumpkin, spikes, appley-goodness On Skin: pumpkin, hint of butter, spicy Drydown: pumpkin and mulled spices mellow out. GORGEOUS. Killer throw, lasts and lasts, gets better with time.

    Gomorrah

Wet: figgie, not sweet, but earthy fig On skin: figgie on me still, with some dark currant smell. Not bad, but not exactly great either on my skin. Drydown: LOVE!!! Very green smelling to me. In it I smell patchouli for some reason...and Love it. Keeper!!!

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

This is a beautiful, light scent. I found that with a mix of carrier oil (jojoba), I applied all over and could barely smell it within a few minutes, which made me sad. Wet: pear, tuberose, and magnolia. Very floral and fruity, very summery and nice. On skin: out comes the rose and the magnolia pops up like a little bloom, saying hello! Drydown: This did not last on me AT all, but I love it, so I will consider buying a big bottle in the future. On my list that perpetually elongates weekly!!!

    Lorelei

Loralei is gorgeous. Wet: I get the sandalwood and neroli, I think. On skin: I am assuming the ylang ylang will come out later on me. I am getting floral-y and lovely still. Drydown: There had to be a catch, right? This did not last on me for more than 20 minutes for some reason. Even after re-applying it was gone without a trace quickly afterwords. I would buy a big bottle for sure if it had lasting potential.

    Euphrosyne

I bought this b/c of the vanilla and jasmine. I guess what I am finding is that gardenia and my skin just suck together, which is quite unfortunate b/c separately gardenia is so delightful. ANYHOO Wet: I get STRONG lemon, citrus, and vanilla. Not sure why the citrus. No rose comes through for me yet. On skin: again, lemon pledge for some reason, and no more vanilla. No rose, no jasmine. Drydown: dark musky vanilla with a slight sprinkle of rose. Where is the gardenia and lemon that hit me so hard before??? Love the drydown, actually, and am sad that it took hours for my skin to put this oil where it belongs on me. Now, dry and worn a bit, it smells like it would really work on either males or females, or anywhere in between...very unisex. I don't think I'll be buying a bottle just b/c I have no patience...and the time it took to make me love it so was just too long for me. WAH!

    March Hare

Hmm. Very interesting. As with all my imps that I ordered, I couldn't wait to test this one out. Here's the review: Wet: VERY strong and bold, which I like. Clove hits me first, and then the apricot comes trotting along quite soon afterward. On skin: CLOVEY apricot. Those two are all I get. Not bad, not my signature scent, but not bad at all. Reminds me instantly of autumn, and I love autumn, so yey. Drydown: This stuff LASTS baby. I like-a an oil that lasts!!! It kind of reminds me of potpourri with all it's spicy apricot-ness. There is def some synthetic-ness to it, but it's not bad. Overall, won't purchase a big bottle b/c I needs to save me money for only the VERY bestestest oils...but I will use this imp for SURE.

    Snake Oil

Snake Oil, how I love thee! Ok, I have to admit, I was almost all set and ready to NOT like this because of the hype. But dear LORDY now I know why the hype exists. At first, I wasn't impressed. I smelled the bottle and felt, meh, it's not all that everyone claims it to be. BUT THEN... Wet: meh. My weird nose picks up cherry at first...then vanilly-goodness. I know there isn't cherry in here...why, nose, why? On skin: YEY!!! Within 5 minutes, it fades a bit to a vanilla spicey musky goodness....sharp but mellow. Patchouli is smelled on my skin... Drydown: Didn't have strong throw, didn't last long on me, but no matter, as I will re apply!!!! Oh, definitely big bottle of this!!!

    Monster Bait: biggerCritters

MBBC, you my HG right now!! This stuff makes me all happy and shit. Wet: Vanilla, cream, gardenia On skin: Gardenia, buttery vanilla, grapefruit, a twinge of Jasmine Drydown: Alas, not much staying power, but this is f*ing good, and therefore I will re-apply as needed and just hope my bottle lasts me until I can get my grimy hands on another bottle. You amazing alchemy people!! HEART!!!

    Jack

mmmk. so this is a lovely little foody scent that smells, on me, like buttery, pumpkin, clovery, cookies. A delish mix. Wet: pumpkin is strong, and the cloves are right there behind it. the butter smell comes skipping along afterward, and smacks you in the face gently. On Skin: I'm getting pumpkin and butter...which ends up smelling like one of those pumpkin rolls...licking lips...so.hungry.now. Drydown: The staying power of this is intense. Mr. Seven kept sniffing my wrist telling me I was edible. Strong throw. Same smell as on skin...just pumpkin, clove, and a touch of butter ginger. Amazing.

    Dana O'Shee

Dana O'shee is sweet and purddy in all the right ways, with a marachino (sp) cherry in it!!! Wet: sweet, delish, cherry and almond On Skin: read above Drydown: read above DELISH!!! The only qualm I have is staying power, but I'll just reapply, so no problem whatsoever. Love it!

    Shub-Niggurath

Shub Niggaruth was my most wanted scent, and as I opened the awaited imp, I was delighted at the first whiff I got of cinnamon goodness. Unfortunately it didn't end up working on me well -- I am not sure if my skin will ever play nicely with ginger for some reason, which saddens me greatly! Wet: cinnamon spice, warm, ginger, spicy, delicious On skin: at first the cinnamon was gorgeous, and the resins gave it a depth that I couldn't believe, like something I had not smelled before, and my nose was happy. Drydown: somehow this turned sheer GREEN on me, like I had been in the woods for hours, rubbing my wrist against plant after plant. The ginger went away, as did the spices, and I was left with woody resin that just smelled, well, woody. Verdict: I blame my skin with the ginger that turned this sour. So sad, b/c I wanted to love this so much. It didn't last long at all, and after a few hours, I sniffed and sniffed and got nothing. Like it disappeared. WAH. What a delightful blend, though, and I'm sure anyone who loves resiny woody goodness will love this. Off to the sniffing imp pile, or for home, it will be gorgeous.

    White Rabbit

wah. White Rabbit was one that I was most excited about trying, free from the lab, b/c I had not tried a black tea blend yet...somehow it doesn't like my skin as much as I thought it would, but I'm going to try on another day too just to see if maybe it isn't just hormones or something. Wet: Classic linen with gardenia is my first whiff. On second whiff I guess I am picking up the black tea...smells a bit spicy from the pepper as well. On skin: Somehow it just turns to dryer sheet on me for some reason. Drydown: AGain, peppery linen...gardenia is still there. Such an interesting blend, I applaud the Lab for such alchemy!!! Verdict: Will keep for sniffing purposes and for trying another day. I have a feeling this scent may grow on me.

    French Love

This did not like my skin. I'm sad b/c the name is so what I pictured being a little more warm and sensual. To me, this was sweet, dragon's blood, gardenia, and a whisper of spice. Wet: translucent red, gorgeous color, thick, a bit cloying for me on initial sniff, floral note coming through, def dragon's blood... On skin: yep, dragon's blood. Feh, apparently my skin and dragon's blood don't play well together. Floral and steady cloying on me. Drydown: getting better...definitely not cloying anymore, rather sensual in a floral sort of way... Summary ** will not buy big bottle b/c, dang it, I'm trying to not go broke with BPAL!!! I need to sort out the ones that make my toes curl, and unfortunately this isn't one. But I'll definitely use up the imp. Floral lovers along with DBR lovers will find this lovely.

    Eat Me

foody scents delight me. This one does not disappoint. If you are a foody lover, this one is so for you. I wish it had more throw and lasting power, but other than that, I'm ready to eat something sweet because of this. Delish! Wet: YEE! Smells like a cake in a bottle. Vanilla is the first piece that I get. Underneath, red and black currant are hiding. On skin: Double YEE!!! Cakey at first, then turns itself into red currant. Warm. Makes me want to sit by a fire and roast marshmallows. Lovely. Dry down: light throw, little staying power on me. BUT I'll just get me a big bottle and no worries!! Congrats Beth and co-horts!!

    Eris

Wet: fruity, sweet, definitely can smell the floral tones in it. On skin: sweet, the mimosa is apparent and smells, as AmyAngel mentioned, like hairsrpay (which for me isn't quite bad, weirdly enough) Drydown: didn't change much. Will enjoy imp, but will not purchase a 5 ml.

    Perversion

tobaccoey goodness. yum. Wet: I smell coconut and chocolate, although I don't think either are in there!! But it just smells gorgeous. on skin: it puts me in a devilish mood!! the Chardonnay and Tonka mix perfectly to create a sensual, warm fragrance. Drydown: BETTER than wet - dirty, it reminds me immediately of red. I'm getting a bit scared that this new shipment is going to cost me a lot more than I had thought!!! WOOT!

    The Lady of Shalott

This is the first aquatic I've tried, and am gleeful that it smells so gorgeous! It's water blossoms come full force on me, and I'm in love! The musk is the after scent - and it's not strong, just floating around on my skin. The ginger tweaks the oil just enough so that there is a bit of a bite. WET: bright and beautiful, Gardenia jumps out of the bottle. On skin: Gingery goodness, mixed with musk and mugnet. Aquatic bliss. Drydown: even better, although I had to re-apply later in the day...all the scents together blend to make a heavenly scent!!! will buy big bottle!!

    Baku

Our Nightmarebane. Named after the Baku, benevolent Japanese spirits that eat nightmares. In Japanese tradition, nightmares are gifts from malevolent spirits; when you wake up from one, you may call, "Baku, please eat my dreams!", and if you are virtuous and merciful in spirit, the Baku will devour the evil, transforming it into a blessing of good fortune. GET IT OFF ME!! that's the first thought that galloped through my brain when I dabbed this on my wrist. But I had to let it linger and drydown to report, of course. And even now, hours later, I still feel like I can't wait to wash it off. On me: Wet: lavender and licorice. Astringent. Chemical. On skin: again, astringent and just licorice. Drydown: Somehow it smells faintly of old toilet paper. Is that a smell? And why do I know what that smells like?? Sorry, I can't think of anything else to describe the weird skin reaction that happens with Baku. Poor me! and Poor Baku! So sad. I wanted to love it!

    Kali

Kali is gorgeous. Wet: I smell the lotus, wine, musk rose, and balsam. Very solid and very sensual. On skin: Out comes the tobacco and honey. The hibiscus dances across the top of the fragrance, and the cassia is barely there but beautiful. Drydown: More honey, more chocolate. LOVE the tulip touch that I'm getting. Will DEFINITELY buy a big bottle of this. I think this scent may get me some love tonight from my Mr. Seven!!! ) WOOT!

    Blood Lotus

nodding in agreement, jennygardener. Blood Lotus is almost too sweet for me to wear. It smelled lovely in the bottle, but I got it on my skin and the two just didn't play well together. Off to the swap bin...

    Anne Bonny

Ack. I am so upset - I wanted to love Anne Bonny b/c I love patchouli so ... but alas, the red sandalwood spices it up a bit too much, and the frankincense...I'm beginning to think that my skin is just not a friend of frankincense, which again makes me sad. Wet: spicy, strong, heady On skin: Antiquey smelling...kind of like when you walk into an old country store and take a big whiff. Drydown: The patchouli makes it presence known, but in a more spicy way than I am used to. I think Red Sandalwood fans will really love this. For me, I'll keep it as a house scent for the fall. Off to more imp sniffing...

    Blood Pearl

Lustrous, sanguine, soft and lavish: soft orris, blood musk, and coconut. This is delicious on me, which I didn't expect. I have no idea what orris is, nor smells like, so this was just a guess, b/c coconut sounded good at the time. Wet: a fresh musk, if that makes sense On skin: Lovely, light throw, musky but not overpowering on me Drydown: again, light, but nice. The coconut finally came out, I was wondering where that sucker was. Will use up imp and decide if the 5 ml is on my wish list. I believe it will be. Yey!!!
