  1. As so many others have mentioned, I was surprised to find that this scent was so creamy-sweet! It is very notably vanilla, but the soft floral notes lurk underneath to make this a very sophisticated and pretty scent. I sort of expected this to smell like my grandmother: Sort of dry and aged and musty and floral. But it is very different, and very lovely as a result.

  2. This is lovely. Not too terribly foody, but definitely a comforting scent.

This matches beautifully with the Oatmeal Milk & Honey scent so popular with other etailers.

Unfortunately, on me, Dana O'Shee on its own fades rather quickly, making layering with body gloss or conditioner a necessity.

  3. For Jenny, with love. Crocus with snowdrop and three lilies.

This is a crisp floral, and somehow smells overwhelmingly like sweet pea on my skin.
At first application there is a strong "perfume-y" note but on dry down this is sweet and girly and fun.

  4. To me, this smells exactly like the sugared rose petals on gourmet cakes.

The scent to my nose is like one of these petals on my tongue: Agonizingly sweet candied rose.

I just adore it, and luckily my skin just drinks it up and the scent stays true; one of the only blends that is exactly the same on my skin as it is in the bottle.

Plus, it lasts and lasts! I rubbed some into my hairline this morning before work, and I just unpinned my hair and caught a whiff... more than 12 hours later!

  5. Oh, my. I really didn't expect to like this one, but there is something... familiar about it.

It is clean, slightly aquatic, and sparklingly innocent. When I wear this I am eight years old again, carrying around my pink portable stereo and Debbie Gibson tapes.

ETA: I know what it smells like! Remember years ago, every Christmas season Love's Baby Soft perfume had a special holiday sampler with five different fragrances? This smells like the blue bottle did: Clean and green and fresh.

  6. Upon first whiff: Whoa, I am getting strangled by the honeysuckle bushes that grew outside my window as a child. There is also a bitter and vaguely incense-y note here.

On the skin: Still notably honeysuckle, but now I get faint notes of the sweet pea and lily.

Later in the day: I smell like a field of flowers, though the scent is light. Much prettier after I've worn this for a while than upon first application.

  7. This is a clean, aquatic floral; lots of flowers with watery green notes, and a hint of sweetness that lingers on the skin.

I am always amazed at the Lab's ability to capture something so perfectly: This smells delicate but full of longing and mystery, just like Ophelia herself.

  8. Mmmmmm... this is my first BPAL love!

This is floral and heady, but in a good way.

(If you read my other reviews you'll see that "heady" is usually a bad thing, but in this case, it totally works!)

The rose peeks through the smokey and fruity notes (which seem to blend into "plum-and-berry-scented opium" rather than appearing as separate scents...).

The throw is not too subtle, not too overwhelming, and the scent lingers forever on my skin.

This is sexy and powerful, a "hot" scent that is perfect for both a steamy night out and an important presentation at work.

  9. In the bottle: I want to pour this over ice cream!

On my skin: Oh, heaven. Sticky-sweet and thick, it smells fattening; the name is just perfect. And it lasted forever! About six hours after applying, my brother walked by, paused, eyed me suspiciously, and said, "Have you been... baking again?" :P

  10. I like this very much.

While it doesn't smell at all like Lush's Rock Star, I get the same feeling when I wear it: Youthful, sticky-sweet, the embodiment of PINK.

Though this is sweet and warm and complex in the bottle, on my skin it turns quickly to plain ol' bubblegum; not altogether an unlikeable scent, but not something I want to smell like every day. I can't wait to try this one in my new scent locket!

  11. Too heavily perfume-y for me in the bottle, I haven't been able to bring myself to try it out on my skin yet.

Whiffing from the imp, the blend smells incense-y and heady, and the lily note comes out as the same "golden" note that I disliked in Tiger Lily.

I wish I got more foody from this, like others do, but this is a bit too heavy and "old lady perfume"-like to my nose.

  12. This is the first incarnation of the Lick It sequence that I've tried, and while I liked it a great deal, it was not what I expected.

It smells like a candy cane with a bit of soft, sugared vanilla added. Very nice.

On my skin, though, it morphs into plain ol' boring peppermint. And it lasts all of 15 minutes.

    Boo-urns.

The scent matches well with IoE's Pink Snowflakes scent, and Patrician Treasure's Snow Angel, so I can have fun layering and wearing this in my scent locket.

  13. I smell baby powder with this, as well.

So it does smell like sex... if sex smells like babies. :P

It does smell slightly different in the imp: There I smell the warmth, and the honey really comes through. But on my skin: Babies.

I plan to try it in my scent locket soon and see how it fares.

  14. I just adore this. I received it as a frimp in my first lab order, and I hadn't read the description before sniffing.

My first reaction: "Mmmm, rose. With... something else.... Is that... leather?"

(After which my boyfriend made a face, then said, "No way, lemme smell!" :P )

To me, this smells like a first date: When the cute guy who really likes you bought a new bomber jacket to wear and brought you a dozen roses, all because he wanted to impress you.

A rose scent that isn't too girly, but has a hip spirit to it, evoking biker babes rather than grandma's doilies.

    And it lasts and lasts.

I'll be buying this in a bottle!

  15. I am so very disappointed with Peacock Queen.

The scent is gorgeous, a very sophisticated, fresh, and full-bodied rose... but it makes me sneeze! I tested a small amount by swiping the cap with a q-tip, and then onto my skin, and I lasted 10 minutes before I was forced to scrub it away. Such a shame, because it really is a beautiful scent.

  16. This is my first BPAL Yule, and I was very excited about the Mirror Mirror pack.

Like others who ordered Snow White, I was expecting a cold floral. Indeed, cold floral is what I get when whiffing from the bottle. But on my skin, it is a soft milky almond scent, not quite "foodie" but not recognizably floral, either. It is just gorgeous with my chemistry. The first time my boyfriend smelled it on me, he said it "smells like [my] fresh clean skin, but better." And I love that. I really look for scents that are not recognizable as product; that is, I want people to say "Mmmm, you smell good" rather than "Your perfume smells good." Snow White accomplishes this perfectly.

I just placed an order for another bottle. :P
