    Te Po

In the Bottle Subtle in the extreme, I'm actually going, "What IS this?" It doesn't smell like anything; there's a faintly warm, sweet smell, but that's it. On Me Hello, flavour! Pretty much instantly, I get this sparkly, nifty combination. It's fizzy and delightful, kind of smooth, and reminds me a lot like Blue Fire's less crazy little sister. I'm getting the orange water, and I think gin initally, with a funny little kick... then it morphs and it's the Boozy Almond Show. But not boozy black-tie cocktails almond, boozy cheerfully tropical drunken almonds. This is really, really cute. I'd wear this out for a night of partying, and am regretting missing out on a bottle. The life of it isn't hugely long, though-- a few hours in, and it's gone, and I can smell the Sherazade I applied this morning instead.

    Scherezade

I was SO excited about this one... In the Bottle Rich, sweet, tantalising Dragon's Blood with deep, exotic spices. Intoxicating, warm, musky and delicious. On Me[/i] Ohnoes! Where did the incense come from? What happened to all those pretty spices? Where'd the musk go? What happened to the dark intensity? On me, this goes to a hideously sweet patchoulli-and-incense hippy trippy shop nightmare. I smell like a stereotypical hippy, like my name should be Moonbeam Rainflower and I should walk around talking about everything being cosmic and sounding all whispery and deep like that Divination teacher in the Harry Potter series. This is what I imagine her classroom to smell like, though. This stuff, on me, has incredible throw and staying power. It lasts for AGES, and it's so strong, I can see why hippy people use patchoulli to cover up the smell of dope. I had three kids at work (who've known me for awhile) suddenly decide to ask me today if I smoked marijuana. I don't know if this was coincidental or not. And... more than twelve hours later, and in spite of me putting on some Te Po mid-afternoon-- I can STILL smell it on me. I'm not saying it's bad: this would be a lovely blend if it stayed like it is in the bottle, or for people who go in for the patchoulli and incense thing. But... not for me.

    Love in the Asylum

In the Bottle Rose with tonka and vanilla, with the roses dominating heavily. On Me Again, the rosiness is prominent, though it's a metallic, cold rose. I can't really make out the other notes on me, but this isn't your classic rose at ALL. There is something toning down the sweetness and the prettiness... but dammit, it's utterly beautiful. Like others have said, there's a... distance to it. It's not sweetly feminine and innocent, and it's not entirely a haunted attic rose, either. It's not srong, but it's there. In short: I'm seriously glad I took a gamble on this and hoped it would work. It's stunning.

    Blue Fire

In Bottle Wow: this is SWEET! And smells almost fizzy-- reminds me of a Fruit Tingle-- both the cocktail and the lollies! On Me Still sweet and fizzy-- there's something citrus in there and the blueberry is very obvious. It reminds me of the Jessica Simpson edible cosmetics which I was obsessed with awhile ago... it's pretty, and yum, and smells like I could just lick it... though I'm not going to try THAT. A breakdown? I'm definitely getting a citrus note, though it's softer than your standard lemon or orange-- I'm suspecting mandarin. It's something above and beyond the lemongrass, though... not sure what it is. The papaya is there, too, as is the blueberry-- but the gin-- the note I was super-curious about-- I can't smell it! In short: yep, it's yummy. Not sure how often I'd wear this, and I may go in search of a bottle down the track. Am glad I got a decant of it, though.

    Tiki King

In the Bottle A smoky, intense coconut. On Me Wow! A sophisticated, dark coconut, initially, with a twinge of something else going on. Fades down a little, then I get the ironwood coming into the picture, and it's utterly gorgeous. (I LOVE woody blends, and I love coconut, but a lot of the time, coconut goes... kooky on me. This...? Not at ALL.) Like someone else said, it reminds me of the outside of the coconut as well as the inside. I didn't really get the lemon scent-- there IS a touch of something buzzy and alive-- it's not a sedate fragrance-- but my chemistry tends to amp lemon, and thankfully, it didn't. Folks, this is an absolute winner. It smells real, not that fake sunscreen coconut, and in spite of its dark intensity, it's a happy-making scent for me. It's totally universal, genderwise, too-- guys could wear this, girls could wear this, and the result would be a happy, sexy fun-loving awesome. It just works. And the life of this is amazing, too-- just before I went to bed, I could still smell it on me. Yummy and brilliant. (I ordered a bottle about an hour before it came down, and I'm SO fricken glad. Also, major thankyous to Shackjj for getting my decant out to me whipsmart. I came close to ordering it initially, but didn't, and had I not gotten my decant in a timely fashion, I'd have missed out.)

    Lady Luck Blues

In the Bottle This is dark, gorgeous and complex-- I'm not getting so much of the rose but there's a warm honey and a handful of classy florals. Everything seems perfectly balanced, and is blended so well that other than the honey and a warm, syrupy dark plum (and it's a DRY dark plum, not a super-sweet deal), I'm unsure exactly what's in it. I think there may be spices-- weirdly enough, I'm thinking of Yerevan... On Me My skin amps the rose something chronic, though I'm getting the glistening sticky warmth of the honey and the florals playing a very quiet-- but very good supporting cast. And YES-- there is a distinct smokiness which I'm loving a LOT.

    The Atrocious Attic

In the Bottle Soft, dusty peach and rose. On Me Well, rose and I get along, and I amp rose something chronic. But this rose is different-- it's ashen and sedate, and there's something quite dusty as though it really has been in storage for a long time. But it's not that hideous thrift store moth-balls-and-sweat storage that makes me think of high school drama rooms, so I'm happy. It's feminine, but... not especially girly. If I had to put an age on the attic, I'd say she's an elegant, sharp woman in her fifties who remains carefully aloof but has a secret hint of nostalgia tucked away in the depths of her brain. I gotta say, too-- as far as roses go, this is INTENSE. But the dustiness gives it that kick of something else, and I'm sure there's some violet and a lily of some description hanging out there, too. The throw is pretty good, but the LIFE... this stuff is AMAZING. Evidence? I wore it to work. I did an eight-hour shift. During that time, my hands were in water or cleaning products, I was sweating, and was indulging in donuts and coffee and cigarettes and energy drinks. But I could still smell it, and the moment I cracked a sweat... it became even more intense. Seriously, people, this is FULL ON, and that's the first time a BPAL has been amped by sweat for me. But the life... by the time I was on the train going home-- a good, what, ten hours after I applied it-- I could still smell the stuff. Absolutely AWESOME. I bought this as a bit of a "Hmm, I'll give it a go" thing from Brit on the forums, and I'm so pleased my curiousity paid off. YAY!!!1!!!one1!!! is an understatement here.

    Destroying Angel

In the Bottle Sounds exactly like the description, only with a sharp, green bitter note which seems out of character for a fungi scent. The earth and the papery-rubbery mushroominess is there, though, though it's a lot richer, and a lot greener than I expected. On Me Thankfully, the green pisses off pretty quickly, and I'm left with a dirty mushroom smell, with a bitter hint of something utterly lethal. It reminds me of the deadly nightshade plants in my garden when I was a kid, and is reminiscent of something in Beatrice and in the Rappaccini's Garden range... I don't know the specific note, but I think it has to be combined VERY carefull or else it could make things smell horrible. This doesn't, though. After a few hours, I get a morphing of some description and something woody-- cedar, I'm guessing makes a little appearance, and then, eight hours or so after I applied it (I wore it to work!-- and I wash my hands a lot at work, so this DOES have staying power), I sniffed my wrist to get a faint hint of grey papery fungal notes, and little else except a smudge of dirt. Which was how I imagined it. It's a gorgeous scent, and I'm so glad I have the imp. It's not an immediate I NEED THIS fragrance, and I may only be content with the imp (though I'd be sad if this was discontinued) but all in all-- LOVED.

    Miskatonic University

In the Bottle Strong, sweet maple-syruppy Irish coffee. Smells a bit fake, but let's see what happens... On Me Okay, firstly, this has marvellous throw. Initially it's like the imp smell, then it dries down to a pretty, more subtle and very real-smelling Irish coffee. A few hours later, the woody note creeps in, and it's just gorgeous. I want to lick my arms and go make out with someone, wearing this. I've ordered a 5mler, and did so prior to trying the imp, and... YAY! I had high hopes for MiskU and am glad I wasn't heartbroken.

    To Helen

I bought this on the forums from Mrs. Black... I came SO close to buying it when it was released, but just didn't have the fundage and went for some of the others. Well... In the Bottle Sweet, sugary prettiness, almost like pink, yummy fairy floss-- and the good stuff with that almost creamy taste to it. But there's a dusty sophistication there, too. Mmmm. On Me Wow. Excellent throw, and a beautiful collection of florals-- dunno the specifics on the roses used-- it's not standard rose though (it doesn't strike me as a tea rose or that dewy Peacock Queen rose). The beeswax is a lovely addition, and a prominent note on me, and I love it. (I don't detect that one much in perfumes, and I find that disappointing because it's such an innocent, natural scent.) But, yeah: we have unidentified roses, and beeswax, and what I'm thinking might be gardenia. This is utterly gorgeous, and unlike a lot of florals, it hangs around a bit on my skin. Don't know how I'd describe it. It's feminine, but it's not "girly" or "sexy" or "strong," and it doesn't seem categorisable by age-- it's not something I'd choose for, say, a 20-something or a teenager or an older woman. It's it's own perfume. There's something slightly distant and ethereal about it, in the same way as there is about Yvaine. Ultimately-- I love it. It's sweet and pretty, but quite elegant at the same time. I'd also recc it to anyone with hesitations about rose or beeswax or ozonics-- it uses all these things yet throws the preconceived notions of how they're meant to work right out the window. I have no idea why this wasn't the huge star attarction out of the 08 Lupercalias.

    Blood Kiss

In the Bottle Sweet and warm and resiny, but with a strange almost chlorine note coming through strongly. On Me Aww... it settles. Basically, I've got the sweetness of dragon's blood, I've got cherries-- and these aren't those fake crappy glace cherries or the artificial flavouring in kids' cough syrup-- these are real dark plum decadent cherries that you just want to bite into. There is a slight spiciness, but it's not overly intense, and ditto on the muskiness. The predominant notes coming out for me are the Dragons' blood and the cherry, and this strange nuttiness (hazelnut?), which is what I think the chlorine note turned into. It's gorgeous. Very much a "Gothy" scent but very nice all the same. It's not your standard hippy-trippy patchoulli-and-incense asthma attack clear-the-room affair, but it's definitely not mainstream. It's complex-- there is a floral of SOME description lurking underneath-- I'm going to say at a guess it's lily of some variety, and on me, dries to a warm, buttery-sweet blend. I like it. It makes me think, "This is what would have been [but with less vanilla] if Hellcat had liked me." Oddly enough: I LOVE vetiver and it loves me, but the vanilla and the vetiver are both strangely AWOL on me. Huh? Sidenote: Smells edible, but for god's sake, don't eat it! Purely accidental, I got some on my finger while applying it, and it tastes like chlorininess mixed with something super bitter!

    Ulalume

Starry white lilies lend an eerie brightness to the deep black wooded scents of cypress and oak, layered with a touch of crushed dried leaves and the faintest aquatic note. In the Bottle A sharp, green, slightly bitter scent with an earthy "dirtiness" to it. On Me The greenness goes pretty quickly, and it turns to moist brown oak leaves, as though they've fallen from the trees in the middle of a Melbourne winter and been rained on. There's a tinge of something aquatic in the background, but overall, I just get this pretty, ethereal autumnal fragrance. I wouldn't have picked it for me, and given that it's very subtle, I'm probably not going to rush out for a bottle (my wish list is huge enough!), but it really is quite strange and lovely.

    Inferno

In the imp Sweet, marshallowy almondy yumminess. On Me Whoa nelly! Where the hell did that cinnamon come from? Thankfully, I'm a cinnamon fangirl, so this is making me one happy little person. Basically, the description says it all-- cinnamon, almond, and a distinct bitterness. Unlike some of Beth's other cinnamon blends, say, Uranus, this is a lot bolder, and there's that bitter spike in there. Frankly...? I love it. It wasn't what I expected (I figured there'd be a smoky element given the reference to fire-- you know how Djinn and Malediction have that burning smell?) but still-- it's strong and yummy and mindblowing. Admittedly, though, my usually not-sensitive skin is taking issues with it. Well, on my throat-- my wrists aren't bothered by this at all.

    Arkham

In the Bottle Bitter and green notes dominating, reminds me of some of the Rappuccini's Garden blends. On Me Initially I get the bitter greens but they're not at all unpleasant-- it's like walking through a dew-soaked freshly-cut lawn in the morning. When everything settles, the bitterness has faded off a little, and the florals start shyly coming forwards. I can't recognise most of them-- they're soft and subtle and not overly feminine. No classic roses and violets here-- they smell distant and exotic. Sadly, it doesn't last very long on me, but an interesting, and intriguing blend all the same.

    Regan

I recieved this as a freebee from the lab-- not being a Shakespeare fan, I wasn't even aware of this one prior to getting my imp. In the Bottle Smells like oozy, warm chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Yum! On Me Oh, man, this is nice. I can't believe I'm enjoying this so much-- usually chocolate smells in perfume go revolting on me and make me think of ipecac syrup and Theirry Muegler's Angel-- this, however, smells a lot more natural, and a lot less sugary. Instead, we have florals (there's lily in there of some description, as well as a strong, real-smelling vanilla) making up for the sugariness, and the effect on me is warm, edible and just scrumptious. Don't laugh, but it vaguely reminds me of... the chocolate on the CyberSniff 3000 card that came with my copy of Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail when I bought it. Which equates to, "Chocolate but not really." The throw's pretty good, too, and I'm wanting a bottle now.

    Sybaris

In the Bottle Yummy! Violets! I like violets and they like me! There's also a spicy hint of something going on which is probably the clove blending with something else... my guess is cardamon, but no idea. It's pretty. On Me Ooooh, sweet. It's like French Love, Alice, and Queen Mab had a threesome, and this was the resulting smell. Basically, I'm getting that soft buttery almond note evident in all three, yet it's not as innocent as Alice, not as red and sexy as French Love, and the florals veer off in a different direction to Queen Mab, but it reminds me of all three scents. Only the violets add something else. Then there's something honey going on. Not sure if I'm tripping, but yep... honey! And it's delicious. I'm SO glad I tried this. I didn't expect that almondy note at all, but given that it's in some of my other BPAL faves, I appreciated it. Am strongly considering getting myself a bottle of this.

    Parentalia

In the Bottle A somber, herby scent which seems very natural and calm... oil-burner perfect, I say. It smells very damp and even, though... am looking forward to it. On Me The first thing I notice is the cypress/an oakmossy smell, then the rose appears. And my skin amps it, so the resulting smell on me is a wet, buttery rose with an undercurrent of something dark, dark green and yet there is something sweet happening. No idea what it is, but there ya go, I guess. Overall? I love this for the concept and how it smells in the bottle, but on me it wasn't insanely exciting. The throw was good and it lasted awhile, but it smelt like other stuff I've worn and didn't stand out a whole lot for me. But hey, I liked this enough, and I'm not expecting to have a Dee experience every time I slap on some BPAL. I short?: A nice, neutral rosey blend on me.
  18. LadyLuckDoubt

    Dee

Just recieved my imp today! In the Bottle Oooh! Leather and wood! Nice! On Me Well, something that yummy-smelling begged application, so... I had to. Initially, just like in the bottle, I'm getting a strong leathery, woody smell-- vetiver and cedar with a hint of incense. (Kudos to Beth on an incense smell that works for me!!!) It is a classy gentleman scent, and works beautifully for the concept. It actually makes me think of an ex of mine, who was an academic-- he never was into fragrances, but for some reason I'm associating this with him and smiling fondly. It's manly, but it's manly in a refined, tidy sort of way. There's a hint of something that smells like Lagerfeld's Photo, too, which my Dad wore-- and Drakkar Noir, which is gorgeous and sexy. But the cologney notes are overpowered by the vetiver (which is very gentle compared to a lot of vetiver blends) and the smoky woodiness. And I'm getting the "parchment" note-- makes me think of high levels of old libraries which are near-empty but crammed with old books. UUUUURGH! This is honest-to-gawd, one of the most AWESOME smells EVER. So, anyway... the leather dies down on me pretty quickly. Half an hour later, what am I left with? A glowing, warm smokey ambery scent, which is absolutely to die for. Seriously, this perfume is bottled sex. In the bottle it's so awesome I almost think it's going to be crap on people, but nope-- it works, too. It's got a decent throw, too, and seems long-lasting. It also seems to be one of those ones which is going to morph a lot given who's wearing it: I can't wait to try this on other people and see what it does to them. I'm amused that it's so sweet and warm and pretty on me, yet it's still staying utterly sexy and amazing. I NEED A 5MLER OF THIS STUFF!!!!

    La Vita Nuova

In the Bottle Fresh, tangy green apples with a loud sweet note. On Me Pretty much the same. This scent is goofy and fun, cute and quirky: it smells like apple shampoo or airfreshener, which isn't at all unpleasant, but it's a lot louder and sweeter than I expected. I'm not getting ANY rose, which is weird: my skin tends to bring out rose something chronic. I suspect the "tanginess" I noticed first off was the champagne note... and I'll admit, that had me worried. I think it's my chemistry, but white-wine smells make me nervous (Bon Vivant and I don't get along...) -- unless it's an incredibly crisp, dry white, I tend to get a rank, dull sort of sour smell (which reminds me of cheap and nasty white wine-- but then again, I'm a red wine person anyway, so maybe I'm unfairly biased). There's an echo of that popping through, and I'm thinking bad thoughts. I don't want this cute cheery happy!apple to go nasty on me! It doesn't, instead, the champagne grape lingers in the background, and the apple still dominates. It lasts awhile, too. My six-year-old son thinks it's "yummy." Overall? This is such a fun scent. Not at all what I expected, but I'm hanging onto it and glad I snagged some. I don't think it's an every-dayer for me, but if I was working in the kind of environment where I'd want to be perky a lot and wouldn't be afraid of being a bit eccentric, it probably would be. (I'm NOT a fruity-scent person, usually, and I do tend towards darker and more intense fragrances, but I did enjoy this... and plan to in future!)

    Aizen-Myoo

A lab frimp! Thanks, guys! In the Bottle Aw... cute! Seriously, this is positively adorable-- chirpy grapefruity tang with something deliciously sweet, and the soft, dignified calm of yuzu stopping it from being a little-kid scent. But I'll admit, it smells like these Hello Kitty lollies I bought once. On Me Lasts for awhile like that, but then the citrus is gone and it's just a fresh, clean scent. I LOVE yuzu-- I'm not sure how to describe it to people unfamiliar with it-- it's soft and calm and almost lily-like, a bit green, but with a fruity sweetness and less waxiness than lily, if that makes sense. Yuzu makes me think of high-end candle shops and a polite sort of beauty. Anyway, that's what this does on me-- once the grapefruity notes are gone, I'm getting a very subtle yuzu note. About an hour later, I'm wracking my brains going, "What BPAL did I put on this morning?" Because it's changed again-- now that the yuzu has died down, I'm smelling a very faint spiciness-- is there star anise in this? It's lovely, I gotta admit, and about ten minutes after application, I thought this was going to be another Twilight for me. (Ten minutes after applying Twilight, it appeared in bottle form on my wishlist.) But sadly... no. It just doesn't last noticably on me: my skin drinks this up and it fades out all too quickly for me. (Still, I'm keeping the imp and enjoying it while I have it.)

In the Bottle I'm getting worried, as I'm getting a fair bit of incense and patchoulli. On Me The incense goes somewhere for awhile, initially, and it's patchoulli all the way. Then we get a nice drydown, and the result is a slightly sweet, smoky blend with excellent throw and a masculine kick to it. I'm not getting any booziness, which I'm finding a bit disappointing, it's more like a nice-old-man aftershave hanging around there under the sweet smokiness. On my Partner My partner said is smells like Old Spice on him, which it did a little... for a few minutes. Not too long after that, and it's morphed into an extremely elegant, masculine-- and VERY intense-- blend on him, reminiscent of Bulgari cologne. I'm completely tripped out as to how different the reactions we've had are! On me, it's cute and quirky and a fun everyday perfume with an excellent throw and a long life. On my partner, it's boardroom executive hotness.
  22. LadyLuckDoubt

    Twilight

This, typically would have been the first BPAL oil I'd have gone for upon reading the description-- it sounds lovely, and the concept, oh yeah. I have no idea why it took me this bloody long to actually order some. In the Bottle Lavendar. Smells like a less severe and softer Yvaine (which does NOT stay like that on my skin, btw... Lavendar can be extraordinarily deceptive!) with a touch of lily or lilac. I'm expecting a soft, quiet, feminine blend with very little throw and a short life. On Me Oh, pretty. It's old-fashioned English loveliness, the type of perfume I'd have given to my grandmother. Five minutes later: it morphs. Nope, not granny-niceness anymore, it's got an intensity now, and there's jasmine clawing its way to the surface over what I'm thinking might be lilac and the lavendar. And it smells so bloody familiar that it's driving me crazy. I know what this reminds me of! It's classy, expensive jasmine, and a dead ringer for my mother's favourite perfume, Joy (which doesn't smell particularly nice on me). But what it does on my skin is what Joy does on my Mum: it smells divine. Basically, it's an intoxicating, gorgeous dry jasmine, with excellent throw, and an amberish note coming through but without the sweetness. It's a perfume which means business-- it's feminine (though I am DYING to see how this would smell on a guy, to be honest), but not at all girly-- it's that sexy-confident-serious!feminine, the sort of thing which makes me think of Samantha off Sex and the City, but without the sleaze factor. Yet it's also lovely and decidedly humble. I'd wear this in an instant to any kind of formal event: a wedding, a funeral, some kind of black tie function where I'm expected to look good and behave myself, but still want to be myself and not conform to current fashions-- this is an utterly timeless, and beautiful fragrance. I've gotta say, I was wrong wrong WRONG about both the throw and the nature of this stuff. Once again I was decieved by the bottle. (Don't trust the bottles, people!) And even though my "I'm buying bottles of this stuff" list is massive, within about ten minutes of putting on Twilight, I knew it was joining the ranks. Beth, you've outdone yourself, m'dear.
  23. LadyLuckDoubt

    Succubus

In the Bottle Sweet, very subtle, and feminine. I can hardly smell this; not sure if it's at least ten years of smoking ruining my sense of smell, or just that it's very subtle, but it is. So naturally, I'm curious as all hell as to what it smells like on me. On Me Mmmm... it's warm, softly almondy, and there's a sharp twang of citrus-- at a pinch I'd guess lemon verbena and bergamot. There are soft, hazy florals, a touch of mimosa, and that gives it an innocent sweetness-- it's very light and pretty. I'd think of this as a nice "first date" perfume. It's individual, and it's pretty, but not heavy and intense and likely to scare away people who get freaked out by louder and more heavy blends. And in the first few hours, it's definitely noticeable, and it's not overly one thing or another: not too much citrus, not too many florals, not too woody or incensey or fruity or what-have-you. It's balanced and tidy and well-blended and very natural smelling. I don't think anyone could be offended by this perfume. (Though I'm sure I'll read through the rest of the reviews and be proven wrong! ) By the end of the day (and I retouched once), I'm left with a vague, warm almondy smell which makes me think of luxuriant, expensive body lotions. It's a nice base, and the louder notes were all pleasant while they were there, sadly, though, they didn't last that long on me.
  24. LadyLuckDoubt

    Serpent's Kiss

In the Bottle it's a gorgeous, intense red, and it's called Serpent's Kiss... how come the lab chose his for me? It sounds like something I'd jump for, but for some reason I didn't notice it until the lab-lovelies (who seem to know my tastes better than me!) sent me an imp. How the hell did I manage to NOT NOTICE THIS? Ah, well, let's give it a shot... I can smell vetiver (yum!) and Dragon's blood faintly, also almond, I'm guessing. Already, it's looking promising. On Me Oh, nice. This stuff likes my skin, and is a radiant, strong blend of the aforementioned. One thing that's intriguing here is that Dragon's Blood doesn't usually go sweet on my skin, but this has a sweetness-- maybe because it's up against vetiver? Not sure what's happening here, but it's a spicy, warm, sexy blend. There is a touch of incense, but it's kept to a subtle, respectable level, and compliments the rest nicely. And I'm sure there is cinnamon and pepper in there, too. While the Dragon's Blood dominates, everything else works in harmony behind the scenes, putting a new twist on the DB blend. In honesty-- lately I've been on a Dragon's Blood kick and have been finding it hard to distinguish between a lot of the "Blood" fragrances, but this is gorgeous, and it seems to last well, which is what I'd look for in such a perfume.
  25. LadyLuckDoubt

    Hellcat

In the Bottle This is my dream scent! I've been looking forward to trying this since I saw the description, and it's gorgeous: yummy almondy hazelnutty boozy caramelly goodness-- so decadent and pretty and warm strong-- I want bath oil of this! Why do I only have one tiny imp of it! SO UNFAIR! On Me What happened, Hellcat? We had a beautiful beginning, and now this? No sooner than the impstick touches my wrist, and Hellcat morphs. Into something more like Polecat. Seriously, it's gone to musty, strong-as-anything old lady perfume. (I'm not one for Chanel No. 5 at ALL, and that's what this has done. Turned into something resembling THAT.) There's this foul bitterness and it's so strong, even after washing my hands, I can still smell it. And it stays like that for a LOOONG time. I wound up swapping my imp with a friend-- Hurricane didn't work on her and Hellcat smelled lovely on her, so we traded. I'll admit, I had that heartfelt regret that you get when looking over old pictures of your ex-- every now and then I opened the imp, just to have a sniff of the glorious warm nutty goodness that sadly wasn't to be on my skin. This one was a true heartbreaker. That said, I gained valuable insight from the whole experience, just like one often does after a failed relationship-- never EVER fall in love or completely dismiss a BPAL because of what it smells like in the bottle! Seriously, I was practically salivating for want of more Hellcat when I first smelt it, and the actuality of Hellcat on my skin was making me regret those thoughts something chronic. And I KNOW this works for other people and they and Hellcat get along.
