He's so cool. A very woody, rich black leather. The pumpkin isn't too dominant. It warms everything up and gives it some earthy spice. Sexy and dark.

Oh wow, on a personal level... this smells exactly like a bakery my mom and I would go to when I was a kid. She'd get a cup of black coffee, I would get a maple bar. We'd sit in a booth and I'd lay down on the bench and stare at all the ancient gumwads people stuck under the table. It's all right there when I smell this. The coffee note is the most dominant. A velvety rich, pitch-black pool of coffee that is made sweeter and stickier from the syrup from the pancakes and the sugar from the cruller. The buckwheat gives it a nice bit of grit. The cruller gives it that chewy quality. It's straight-up gourmand. After about an hour, it settles into a sort of ghostly memory of an old diner. The coffee smells a little stale, dusted with airborne powdered sugar. Gorgeous.

There is something about it that smells cold. The crunchy, clean, sort of cologne-y smell of the dead leaves goes head-to-head with that singed cloud of dark smog. There's sort of an aloof coolness to it. Dreamy bad boy archetype vibes.

Okay, which one of you spilled soda all over the backseat?! I mean, this one is honestly kinda trippy! It smells like an old car. The crackled ambery leather seats stained with sticky cherry cola, covered in old thumb smudges of motor oil that give the car an everlasting industrial chemical tang. The cherry cola is most present right out of the bottle and first on the skin, but then it really shifts. The soda gets stale and murky. The acrid smell of motor oil creeps in over it. The leather is strong but well worn. The longer it sits, the more and more it smells like an old car. A car that's lived. A car that's seen it all. ONE HOUR LATER Sticky, leathery resinous cherry.

In the bottle and first on the skin, the familiar Embalming Fluid is front and center. But it quickly begins to reveal more... White satin curtains and fresh leather seats? Yes. I don't know what notes make up the satin curtains, but undeniably, there's something very textural about this. Plush and lush. White leather is subtle compared to other leather notes I know. It does feel new and clean. Overall, a very clean, creamy, soft, luscious little hearse ya got here!

This is one of my personal favorites. Last Halloween, when we introduced the Wild Hearses line as atmosphere sprays, I went through an entire bottle of Hiss & Hearse in a month and immediately ordered us a backup bottle (which I learned how to use *sparingly*). When I found out we were bringing the hearses back this year, but as perfumes, I was so excited to have a perfume version of this. It's always fun when Beth combines Dorian and Snake Oil together and I think this one is NEXT LEVEL. I love what the dirt and moss notes do to this perfume. The vanilla in both Dorian and Snake Oil seems to rise through, creating this dirty, mossy vanilla-tinged haze. Very earthy, very soft.

I'm surprised by how subtle this is! I was expecting to open the bottle and get a whoosh of bombastic fruitiness and that just wasn't the case. What I smell the most both from the bottle and on the skin is the chewy candy note. I feel like it tampers down both the red fruit (pomegranate? red currant? both? something else entirely?) and the vanilla, giving it all that waxy, plastic-y, gummy smell. Sweet, fruity and very chewy.

Chocolate sprinkles, butter and chewy warm pumpkin bread. Incredibly cozy.

This smells pink. This smells so pink. This smells like an industrious and indecisive canonically blonde Pisces legend who has had every job under the sun and still finds plenty of time to go to the beach. Just the right mix of tartness from the guava and grapefruit, and the sweetness of the strawberry and blackberry, against the sparkly backdrop of pink champagne. It's so fizzy and fun.

As you can imagine, this is very lime forward in the beginning. Once it settles down a bit, the petitgrain, white musk and bay rum begin to pick up, giving it a nice bit of grit and swagger. The zing of the lime ring and the black pepper pair nicely. Overall, it has a very old school, citrus-spice-bay rum men's cologne vibe to it.

I feel like this has a bit of crossover with Adam from Only Lovers Left Alive? There's a similar "burnt plastic over sweet, soft woods and leather" thing going on here. It smells lived in (in a good way). Honestly, what a freaking vibe! The burnt plastic and smudgy waxiness, the woodiness of the pencil, the well-worn leather and the hint of metal. Snarly and defiant. Smells like teen goth flashbacks. I love it.

Yowza! Spicy mango heaven! I'm gonna sit and wait a moment while all that settles down before I check in on that gorgeous amber note Beth uses for the Blow Mold fragrances. (Five Minutes Later...) Spice settles a bit. Still mango city. It sort of reminds me of a candy I used to eat as a child but I can't think of what. (Five More Minutes Later...) This might just be it. Maybe the amber is coming through more than I detect because that mango is potent... Oh. There's the amber! Okay, I get it now. A fun, rambunctious, fruity pop with a bit of spice.

As a lifelong hater of black licorice, this just simply couldn't be my jam. But I needed to try it on for science! And to see if I could be convinced otherwise. And here's the thing... I am being convinced otherwise. The licorice gets top billing, but the grey amber is actually the star of the show. She ties the licorice and black pepper together beautifully. An herbal-y, peppery amber. I don't know why, but it reminds me of Margot Tenenbaum.

A decadent swoon of buttery, malty, gooey chocolate and coffee. Wears close to the skin, so you're not going to enter a room bombastically smelling like the fanciest coffee shop. This one doesn't have the wild shifting powers of it's buddy Black Butterfly Moon. All the notes stay pretty consistent from bottle to skin, and they all settle down together in perfect harmony.

I second that, I'm having a very similar journey with mine. Quite the shifter! This scent begins with a heavy darkness. Damp florals lurking in the rainy shadows. Very moody! But then it... changes! The blackberry, vanilla and myrrh begin to rise through the watercolor floral haze. And after a while, it shifts into a crumbly blackberry incense. And then it's just like, barely there. Dusty, soft, ghostly.

In the bottle... Oof! Thank goodness I was sitting down when I smelled this, or I think it would've knocked me flat! It is an incredibly strong, sticky, thick sweetness shellacked over that tobacco note. On the skin... I have to agree with some of the other reviews here; something very maple/molasses/woody about it. Like sap. Sticky sap on a pile of loose tobacco. This one really takes it's time to get to a place where I can get into it. I think after about 20 minutes on the skin, it gets to a place where it settles down and the tobacco peeks through that sweet, sticky coating. Interesting, but overall, I don't think this is my jam.

In the bottle, I get an unmistakable boom of leather, paper and dust. On the skin, it all mellows down beautifully. The leather smells crackly and ancient. The paper has that sweet parchment quality. And the dust, oh the dust! Considering we all know what this was a prototype for (don't we?), the dustiness of it all really fits in with the two lead character perfumes from that collection. Very cozy, beautiful and timeless. To use another example of vampire-specific media: remember in the pilot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when she goes into the library for the first time, meets Giles, and he's like "I think I know what you're looking for" and plops down that gigantic VAMPYR tome on the counter? It's that smell.

From bottle to skin, there isn't much of a change, except for that the longer it sits on the skin, the more the scent mellows out. Chilled? Yes! Sticky? Very! Blue? Absolutely! I get a sugar high and brain freeze just from smelling it! I'm guessing some kind of juniper or spruce or fir note to get that "chill" component. It's hard to tell what the "blue" is, but it does absolutely smell...blue? Sweet and fruity, but I can't figure out what kind of fruit it is. For comparison, I did smell it side-by-side with Aces Wild from the Lupercalia Candy Hearts collection and I can say it's definitely not a blue raspberry situation here.

In the bottle, I get super fizzy citrus and that dense pumpkin note. On the skin, the pumpkin does its thing and steps into the spotlight, while the sparkly champagne, blood orange and ginger illuminate it from all angles. The gunpowder gives it a bit of singe and grit, but it's not overpowering and it doesn't sour the experience at all. This is very fun and playful! Airy and bright!

In the bottle... I won't lie, this smells very strange! Very papery and salty with that pumpkin note lurking in the background. Once it's on the skin, it's a different story. The pumpkin immediately steps forward and shapes the fragrance. The pumpkin and salt blending together make for a much more savory alternative to the other Summerween fragrances. The paper is still very present, but not as overpowering as it was in the bottle. It reminds me of my much-beloved mass market paperback of Stephen King's Graveyard Shift, which I brought with me on every trip for several years, and which is bent time and time again, it's spine broken, it's pages water damaged, soaked in the different airs of excursions to New Orleans, Atlanta and the Pacific Northwest.

In the bottle, I get pumpkin and that sticky sweet cinnamon sugar. On the skin... oh my god, this is so intoxicating! So delicious! This reminds me of all the pier scenes in The Lost Boys. A full-on Halloween carnival fever dream. I just know I'm gonna get lost in that corn maze tonight and the only thing that will guide me out unscathed is the power of the pumpkin funnel cake booth!

In the bottle, pretty much all I can smell is pumpkin, with a slight hint of something in the background. But once it hits the skin, that all changes! The pumpkin takes a huge step back and the tanning lotion scent comes beaming through. It's so smooth. The rich cocoa butter and that subtle sweetness of the coconut and tiare. It's impossible not to get visions of long days at the beach as a child, or experimenting with tanning beds as a teenager (Regrets! I have a few!) My hometown used to have a small video store that had a back room behind the counter with tanning beds. The whole place smelled like tanning lotion and popcorn, which is forever etched into my brain, and this is the closest scent equivalent to that I've ever come across. Not that it's salty or smells like popcorn, but the pumpkin component adds that earthy, semi-savory quality. The longer it sits on the skin, the pumpkin that retreated into the background steps back out into the sunlight and mixes so beautiful with the other notes. I'm honestly not much for pumpkin fragrances; I always appreciate what the lab conjures up, but they're usually not my personal preference. This has changed me. I cannot stress how much I LOVE THIS. I will reaching for this one again soon!

Hungry Ghost Moon: Hazelnut Spread and Mini Marshmallows

Well, who wouldn't want to smell like this? An instant crowd pleaser. And when paired with the Charred Cedarwood and Black Pepper, you can create that fresh out of the campfire s'mores fantasy perfume. It's not too bombastic or rich, just delightfully sweet and airy and dreamy.- 4 replies

This smells surprisingly cleaner than you'd expect just going off the description! I expected it to be like a full-on crackling bonfire. A fabulously crispy cedar mixed beautifully with the fresh zing of black pepper. Simple, subtle and sexy.- 1 reply

Hungry Ghost Moon: Tomato Leaf and Red Pepper

This isn't the kind of fragrance that wouldn't normally call out to me, but after trying it on I might be a little obsessed. Subtle, but rich. Earthy and fresh. A hot summer night in a vegetable garden kind of vibe.- 3 replies
