    Titania VI Prototype

In the bottle, Titania VI is NOTABLY different from final version of Titania. The moonflower is the strongest note, and stays so for about the first 15 minutes on the skin. Then the fruits show up 15 minutes late with Starbucks, and the resemblance to standard Titania becomes more notable. I would say even after drydown it is more floral and less fruity than the standard version, and less sweet on the whole. It is also less likely to overwhelm other scents in layering. I REALLY like this version, and am sad it wasn't the one that made it to production.

    Wicked

It is absolutely as described. Rich, sophisticated florals, with and undertone of something just a bit sinister from the myrrh. I feel like this is the perfect scent for a sophisticated villain to plot to. Jasmine doesn't always play nicely on my skin, but this one is definitely an exception, and of course the rose amps on me all out of proportion, so it is delightfully floral. That is good, because I also don't normally like myrrh, so having the flowers dominate keeps it from going too resin on my skin.

    Muse

A powdery tuberose and lime (complementary). I don't get much jasmine or lotus from Muse, but having them subtly in there make it a sufficiently complex floral to be interesting. I don't think this is one I will ever want more than an imp of, but I do enjoy the decant in my possession.

    Allegory of Chastity

In the bottle, it is a rose pastry. On the skin, it is a lovely creamy rose, sweet without being cloying, and rather dreamy. It reminds me a lot of one of this year's Lupers (specifically To Lallie) that I ALSO love. I'm so happy I managed to get ahold of a bottle.

    The Return of Persephone

The sandalwood is definitely stronger than the pomogranite on my skin, but the pomogranite keeps it from just being all sandalwood all the time. BPAL's pomogranite notes are usually too aggressive on my skin, but this one behaves itself and DOESN'T amp to smell like a jolly rancher. All in all, a solid combination.

    La Vita Nuova

My skin loves appleblossom, rose, AND champagne grape, so this one is absolute winner. There is a touch of soapiness when wet, but is seems to fade pretty quickly, leaving behind a sublime late spring sweetness. I don't know which year the bottle I was gifted is from, but whichever it is, I am very happy to have it.

    Anathema Device

This is a shockingly juicy, fruity scent, both in the bottle and on the skin. There is warmth and sweetness to it, but there is nothing polite or mellow about it. It has enough throw for me to keep catching it as I work throughout the day, but not enough to disturb anyone else. I have a small decant of this for now, but I think I see a full bottle of it in my future.

    Honey, Bordeaux, and Red Roses

I had not originally intended to get this one, since I was really unsure whether the Bordeaux note would work for me. However, this came into my possession at a Sniff and Swap today, and BOY am I glad to have it. The honey is sweet and fragrant with flowers; the rose amps JUST the right amount on me; and the bordeaux wraps it up in a way that is just plain intoxicating. Definitely a winner!

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

@roseus Thank you so much! This gives me several things to be on the lookout for. I agree with you that layering is probably going to be needed to recreate it.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I have developed a great affection for The Passionate Shepherd to His Love (2008 version specifically, though I imagine 2013 was just as good). For those who have never encountered this lovely scent, it has notes of heather, clover, Irish moss, English ivy, tea rose, and carnation. Unfortunately, it was a long ago Luper which no one has put up for sale in many years. Do folks have recommendations for anything else like it?

    Yemaya

In the imp, it is MELON! On the skin, it is still quite melon, and what little throw it has is mostly the melon note, but sniffed close to the skin the flowers and mosses are JUST detectable. A lovely, refreshing scent for summertime.

    A Countenance Forboding Evil

This scent was SUCH a surprise. I don't like either patchouli OR vetiver, so by all rights I should not like this. But somehow ylang-ylang and blood orange do some (heh) alchemy, turn this into something I quite enjoy. Orange is DEFINITELY the dominant note, but the others are certainly detectable. I would say that if you love patchouli and vetiver, give it a try. And if you hate patchouli and/or vetiver, maybe give it a try anyway - it might surprise you too.

    Mata Hari

A rich, sweet floral, blooming with rose and jasmine. The coffee and tonka give it a richness and base to add interest to keep it from going potpourri. This one that is VERY different in the bottle than one the skin for me, so maybe don't judge it until it dries down. It has a lot of throwz though, so be prepared for that!

    Two, Five & Seven

On me, this is the precise middle point between Rose Red and Peacock Queen. Sweet, heady, freah roses, a bit more cultivated than the wild Rose Red, but with that little bite of green grass to keep it refreshing. Not as much throw as Rose Red, but more than Peacock Queen. It's lovely to have found a GC that is close to those two Yule favs.

    Water Rabbit

Ohhhh, I love this one. It is quite obviously a Lunar New Years scent, with all the notes that entails, but the sticky rice cake lends it a gentle sweetness that really rounds it out. Less fruity than, say, Wooden Goat, but still plenty of fruit to go around. A fine celebration of the year!

    ISO Stone

Just bopping in to say that folks who recommended Columns of the Temple of Neptune at Paestum are 100% correct. It is a wonderful sun warmed stone with olive blossom. It is one of the very few scents Inhave a backup bottle of.
  17. I know, very late answet, but @ShadowEtienne has been attempted to collect all the past Lunar New Years scents, and has done cross comparison. His judgement is that, of the other past years, Fire Monkey is the closest. Fire Monkey is a lot more plentiful in forums sales than Fire Pig, so that might be the one to keep an eye out for.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I haven't smelled the body spray in question, but I wonder if layering Obatala and something like Mouse's Sad and Long Tale might get you somewhere similiar.

Soft May the Worms About Her Creep

I was VERY dubious about this one when I got it, right when it was going out stock. In the bottle, there was something strange and artificial about it, and I was worried it was going to be a dud. But I decided to put it away and wait for hot weather to try it again, and boy am I glad I did! On the skin in hot weather, it is the lovielest, dreamiest strawberry jasmine. I get a hint of the oudh giving it depth, and the coconut rounds it out nicely. Glad I hung onto this long enough for it to come into its own!

    Chuparosa

I recently got a bottle of Chuparosa on ebay, and wow, this well aged specimen sure differs from what is described. The color is a bit more amber than pink, to start with. In the bottle, it is the exact scent if the flower shaped soaps that were popular gifts for young girls in the 90s. On the skin, it is a soft unidentifiable floral, clean and sweet. Oddly there isn't all that much rose here. I definitely get some honeysuckle, but I couldn't say for sure what any of the other flowers are. If I had to describe it, I would say that it is a summertime answer to Snow White - the blossom that bloom long after the snow has melted away.

    Y'ha-nthlei

A new contender for Kraken game day scent. Wonderfully marine, oceanic depths without the rot of the seashore. Cool, clean, and refreshing. I was dubious about the eucalyptus, but it doesn't go too medicinal. This will definitely be one to keep an imp of.

    Boo Bam

Fresh green bamboo, with a delightful tangy hibiscus. Tropical in all the right ways. Perfect for summer, and especially for Pride season.

    Amicitia

This scent is a WEIRDLY specific sense memory. It is the precise smell of a certain area of scrub land behind Pitzer College in Claremont, California, at about 10 pm (or maybe 11 if it is summer time). The southern california desert, when the sun is down but the stones are still warm. I didn't think that smell could be bottled, but I am equal parts delighted and confused to find it can be.

    Lady Lovibond v2

In the bottle and wet on the skin, it smells exactly like gardening a pea patch. As it dries down, it becomes a heady tropical floral. Definitely a strong green note to it. I see where folks are getting cucumber from it, though that isn't precisely how it reads on me. It's suprisingly strong, but not overwhelming. I don't think its one that I would have sought based on description, but now that I have tried it I am very glad it came my way.

    Cerise Fog

This scent is best described as sweet, but a bit confused. It is absolutely lovely, to be clear - the lovely jammy rasberry, candied citrus of the tangerine, and warm golden amber remind me a bit of the jam filled croissants at my favorite french bakery, albeit without the butter. I see with the candied fruits how it could read as medicinal, though I get more cordial than medicine. But there is something distinctly odd about it. It shifts wildly depending on how close to the skin you smell it. It morphs a lot over time. It is wildly different in the bottle. I like each version of how it reads, but all are different. Definitely lives up to the fog in its name.
