  1. My Halloween '23 favorite so far. Headless reminds me of 'Tis Strange, which I'm obsessed with. I don't know exactly what's in here that scratches my nosebrain itch, but it's one of those that I smell and just go, YES, YES this is IT. I only get a hint of leather, which I'm totally fine with, just was expecting that to be stronger since it's listed first. The best is the dense smoky gunpowdery part which just gets more prominent after drying. So good.

  2. I'm discovering I really love BPAL's cotton/laundry/fleece. This reminds me of Traditional Sheet Ghost, but cuddlier. It's lightly sweet, warm, floofy, definitely cozy. More of dryer sheet smell than soapy, which I like. I get smooth vanilla and what I think is lemon and there's another fruit I can't place, I want to say banana, but then I think no stupid, why would that be in there. But this smell feels yellow💛. The eyeliner though, I don't find that, maybe mine got washed out👁️

I'm a night bather and like scents like these for bedtime. Now I need a matching onesie!

  3. I'm so sorry to do this since it's not in stock, but I have to acknowledge the GD perfection of this. Agree - a masterpiece. It's atmospheric and sentimental, it feels like a spell has been cast on this oil. What a wonderful combination of faint smoke, lavender, leaf bits, and snake oil. Truly incredible, the season's delight.

  4. I think 'sheer' has become an exclusion criteria for me, these never seem to work out. This is perfumey and very smooth 'white'. I don't know why I'm surprised after re-reading the description, this happens a lot and I'm like, well, it was described perfectly, what were you expecting?? I was intrigued by white clove, golden sandalwood and the black tea notes that I hoped would stand out, but it's too much gardenia for me. Although that said, the gardenia isn't like superstrength or anything. I think it's a really pretty scent, I just don't want it on me. It smells like I'd want a high-end boutique specializing in hats, shawls and silver trinkets to smell when I walked in. It does bring the glamour!

  5. Oh this one is fun, it is juicy sweet strawberry carnations! It also fades pretty fast for me too, which is sad because that wet phase is delicious. There's also like a rooty-honeyish thing happening (labdanum? Idk), and a very light menthol that comes out and I don't know where that's coming from. Hanging on to my decant to retest after some time.

  6. This is really more lovely than I was expecting, I was thinking it would be more 'dark witchy' with the gunpowder, leather and brimstone - it's more cottage witch. But that's fine! It's quite herbal and eucalyptic, which is probably coming from one of these notes that I'm unfamiliar with. Tobacco is light, a wee hint. It's rested for 72hrs so I'll be experimenting with it again over time and will update if anything changes. I'll enjoy it.

  7. This one has really surprised me, I'm getting a really strong cinnamon, which I avoid and must have missed. Or that's just how it's translating to me. Besides that, there's a sort of dank oily black musk vanilla swirling around with it. I don't know, I thought I was getting better at honing in to my wheelhouse notes that usually work out, but it's still fun to be surprised how scents can be so complicated. This was a decant imp that has rested for about a week.

  8. This is pretty, but it is so, so light. I have to huff nose touching skin and search for where I put it on within minutes. It's definitely smoky sweet, reminds me of an old-fashioned (the cocktail) initially. Once dry, I smell the myrrh and I realllly like it...but sadly, to justify a bottle I'd need this scent to be stronger.

  9. This is a bigger scent than what I was expecting! Gooey pumpkin syrup, a little coffee and a lot of tobacco, but the tobacco is going more in the sour direction for me. This one isn't for me as it's too syrupy for my liking and I now know I don't love even a hint of coffee in my perfumes. I can see how some would love this though, I wouldn't be surprised if it's very popular.

  10. Oh, this is beautiful. Something about it hits me like a slap in the face of a memory I can't place, something from teenage times. This is the most 'perfume like' BPAL I've experienced and I'm loving it. It's soft, shadowy and feminine yet has an edge of badassery. There's something different about this lavender, it's sweeter and less astringent, so maybe that's where the florals are working. A little tea. Something smoky, hazy, but not thick. I can't pick out the leather or tobacco individually, but maybe that's where the feeling of confidence and edge I'm getting from this is coming from. So glad I picked this one.

  11. I think I am just in mad love with cypress right now. I am insane about the Blue Cypress & Haitian Vetiver duet, and now I'm also  loveydovey on this one. It's rested for about a week. At first sniff on mail day I thought shit, this is going to be too mossy for me - but ALAS, tis' not. Just a wee bit of moss now, which suits me better. GD, I love this cypress note! And I love the gator label! Perfect for my Looziana soul, and they are just so kind & generous for donating to Ida relief.

  12. Come to mama. YES and YES. I get immediate big smoky incense, which I've been craving, and a lighter leather. The leather is kind of scorched, maybe? I'm not sure I can identify the stone here, but I'm thinking it's contributing to a sharpness in this that I like. It doesn't have that dusty tinge that sadly happens to me with a lot of incense blends. This one has been in my top 3 rotation this week and will be for a while ahead.

  13. I'm back because I have to say I have become OBSESSED with this. It scratches some itch I didn't know I even had, I cravvvvve it!

It's worked it's way into my top 5. This duet has made me inclined to pay them much more attention, honestly I kind of always run past them to get to the complex sweeties - well, spank my bottom, lesson learned!

  14. My first moon purchase! I'm so happy with this. I'm obsessed with the art, I'm thinking I need to buy my first BPAL shirt. This is so tropical and dreamy without being too cloying or too sweet. Everything is so well-blended and working beautifully together. Agree on the pinkness and smooth coconut. Definitely a happy, summertime scent. It is a fairly quick fader on me, hoping that will improve or I'll just start tossing my bottle in my purse for throughout the day. Big love for Worm Moon.

  15. I've tested this one several times now and I just don't know what to think yet. The mint is throwing me, like it's really nice, but it seems like such an outlier. After drydown though, the combination of red musk and woodsmoke is SUPER satisfying. On the fence since initial application is weirding me out.

  16. Oh, hello! Boy, that's some fresh hemp in that rope. It's just what it sounds like from there, there's the sandalwood yesss...then a light cedar. A faint hint of something waxy? I kind of love this. It feels playful. Just havin' a good time on a sun-baked plank, hanging people I guess.

  17. This decant is a strong orange with hints of clove and a tiny amount of pine in the background for me. It fades into a softer blend, maybe the amber is assisting with that. I'm happy to be able to try it, but this is one of those scents I prefer as an environmental goodie, like in a candle.

  18. I also have never tried Smut alone, but I'm very happy with this blind bottle. It is delicious, so much honey sugar, but not too foodie as I was a little scared of it being. Definitely more of a sensual appetite than actual edible. It does seem to fade around 3 hours for me, so I'll just be carrying ma bottle for re-applications throughout the day.

  19. This is quite robust, which is typically what I'm looking for. In the bottle I'm getting pine and I think the jasmine. Once applied the smoke and sage are there and stay. It does feel like a smoldering sort of burn, I really am pleased with the fire scent and the sage is a nice sidekick.

  20. I blind picked this one from the lab as my first Lilith. I haven't been reaching for it often because it's not one of my 'I am Woman hear me roar' bottles that I'm usually up for, but when I want it - I WANT IT. It's so fresh laundry pretty and I find it energy boosting and lasting. Crisp. Reminds me of being little and jumping in the laundry basket. So I really do love it and want to get a backup bottle because I would be really sad to ever not have my Apocalypse Box option.
