    Santa Doesn’t Need Your Help

The same gorgeous sugar plum note from Sugar Plum Fairy and Sugar Plum Snow White (which has a candied almost Jolly Rancher vibe). I do detect some sweet lavender and marshmallow poofiness too!

    Knave of Snowflakes

These are my impressions fresh from the mail, so I'm sure the scent will stabilize or whatever, but I just had to write a review because this is so swoonworthy. It's the lovely Snow White snow I love so much softly drifting over sweet rose jam and a hint of pastry. So far it's not a bold scent or overly gourmand, just beautiful and fairytale-esque. Love at first sniff.

    Schrödinger’s Checkmark

To me, this smells weirdly like cookies. Delicious, fresh baked cookies with a hint of smooth patchouli.

    Poolside Perfume

A very pretty jasmine perfume! The jasmine and peonies are forward, backed by sweet vanilla and hint of lavender. I really like this, though it's similar to a few other scents I already have bottles of (like I Sit and Sew, for example) . . . I will certainly at least keep my decant.

    ISO Stone

I'm obsessed with stone notes too! So far, I've really enjoyed Theoi Nomioi (The Theoi Nomioi are the gods and spirits of the wild: the countryside, the pastures, the forests. Under their auspices, untamed nature thrives, the beasts of the wild feast and multiply, the mountains reach to the heavens with their stony, snow-capped fingers, and the forests grow thick and dark with mystery), though there are a lot of tree smells here too. I'm also obsessed with the concrete note in Summer Rain (A smidge of coconut milk and lavender mingling with huge droplets of summer rain splashing on wild herbs pushing through hot cement), a recent Lilith that's still in stock.

    Summer Rain

I've been loving this more and more as it has rested. At first, I found it a little soapy and hoped for more earthiness, but now all the different notes are blending into this almost rain-like musk? It's not really a musky scent---it smells clean---but it has this aura, like the mist from raindrops striking the pavement. I definitely smell lemongrass and lavender, and maybe a little sage or dandelion? And beneath that, the smell of just rained on cement. It isn't earthy in a dirt like way, but there's certainly that sense of gray stoniness. Maybe there's some ambergris here? The coconut milk is pretty light to me, but probably adds to the smoothness of the scent.

    A Sorceress

This scent is . . . challenging. I do wonder if there's some kind of animalic oud in the serpent scale accord, which I did not expect. (I guess I expected some patch ala Snake Oil or something). Unfortunately I associate the smell of this wet with laundry that has been in the washer too long and needs to be re-washed. As it dries down, I do get really nice, almost cold-smelling silk/thread notes, which are unique and fascinating, but it's a bit difficult for me to get through to the dry down. So, in summary, I like the dry down but not the process of getting there. I'll set this aside for a bit and see if aging smooths it out at all.

Scent based on a DnD character

Welcome! I love seeing prompts like this, as someone who enjoys pairing scents with my RPG characters too. ❤️ I'll try to stick to the general catalog (GC) to begin with, in the hopes that will make sampling or finding scents easier. Some of the GC scents are temporarily out of stock due to the Lab moving states, but usually you can find some fresh samples (imps) that folks sell here on the forum. For an elemental earth/cave/mushroom scent, my personal favorite is Death Cap, though it may skew toward garden dirt. For a "purple" scent, if you like plum, maybe Drow Yoga Instructor (wild plum, indigo lavender, and a tranquil tendril of sandalwood incense) or Drider Crossing Guard (earthy, dry fig, black pepper, nutmeg, and black plum tea). For a coffee scent, maybe Kobold Barista (freshly brewed coffee with ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and cream), if you don't mind some spices. I personally don't find it to be a spice bomb, but YMMV. It's a nice non-sweet coffee scent.

    A Breton Sorceress

I had planned on only getting a decant of this, but ended up sampling my sister's bottle and now I think I might need my own. 😅 Scent wise, I find this fits somewhere between the glorious tonka/vanilla/oak of Haloes and the cedary vanilla of The Little Brown Cat. Really reminiscent of Haloes, though. It goes on kind of powdery smelling, but as it dries down the smooth, deep woods and tonka blossom into a lovely glow. The allspice is a nice touch too, warm and hovering on the top of the scent.

    Random Brothel

Absolutely lovely. The red musk is not as heady or incensey as in most scents, the jasmine is like flower pollen without indole, and the orange flower water is smooth and understated. This floral muskiness blends so beautifully with the black amber, and lasts forever. I wasn't expecting it to smell this alluring and am so pleasantly surprised.

    Back in the Recording Studio

Even though this doesn't share a lot of the same notes, it reminds me of last year's Philopannyx, which I love. Recording Studio is well blended and I have a hard time picking out specific notes (even the patch!) but it certainly smells sweetly resinous, dark, heady, and somehow purple. I think it's the black amber (🖤) combined with the patch, lavender, and beeswax that my nose is really enjoying. I'm wary of honey dust but here I think it's just adding a touch of sweetness. Very nice.

    Scene with Witches

I'm really digging this. It smells like the concept of gray silk to me; very smooth and cool and sheer. The smoked ambergris is not "smoky" in a woodsmoke way. It's serene and gauzy and reminds me a bit of the stony concrete note in Summer Rain; it isn't as sweet as the ambergris in say Lyonesse. I think the incense note might be sandalwood or myrrh? But it's very light and I notice the cotton more. I'm also not picking out the herbs as anything very distinguishable, but maybe there's white sage here? Overall, this is not a sweet nor a dark scent. Good throw. It veers a little toward clean-laundry smell, like fresh clean sheets in a cool breeze, so people sensitive to dryer sheet vibes might not be into it. But I'm in love with its silky, airy texture. It's the scent equivalent of putting on a transparent, silvery silk scarf on a crisp fall evening.

    Cherry Red

Sugary, somewhat tart, bright red cherry candy. It reminds me a lot of the smell of a cherry tootsie pop. Very nice!

    Teenagering

I almost passed on this one because I already have Sugar Cookie Peacock Queen and a lot of carnation scents. I'm really glad I got it anyway! First on, it's sweet and vanillic, almost bubblegummy. Then the sugar and spice come out, glorious clove-like pink carnation, backed by silky pink rose petals. I'd definitely recommend this for fans of Alice and High-Strung Daisies, and I like this better than both!

Spoopy Kid Assaulted by a Sunbeam

I agree this is patchouli forward. It's a gorgeous patch reminiscent of the woody, chewy, almost chocolatey patch in Banshee Beat/Revenant Rhythm and Silky Bat. The sweeter notes back it up and make it pop. I notice the vanilla ice cream, cotton candy, and honeysuckle as the scent dries down, which are super pretty together. As a honeysuckle fanatic I wish that note was a little more forward, but I'm really happy with this overall.

    First Day of High School

Sampled my sister's bottle. I really like this one; it starts strong with a gorgeous, hazy lavender sugar note and bright red apple. To my nose, the mandarin adds to the fruitiness of the apple, but I've never been that good at picking mandarin out. The resins, chypre, and vanilla musk take over on the dry down, though the apple remains throughout. Overall, it's a perfumey, sophisticated apple that balances fruity sweetness with sharper notes in a pretty way.

    Ceres

Corn puff cereal, but make it perfume. I love blush amber and sugar notes (the combination here reminds me a little of Round Dance, though they are different on the whole), and the hay-ish wheat note balances with everything else in a very satisfying way. This is unusual, pretty, and cozy.

    Margaret Magdalena Muffinhead

This is so nice. At first it's all warm fudge brownie, then the coffee comes out and adds even more depth. I notice the cardamom and amber more on the dry down, and eventually this settles into a lovely gourmand vanilla with wisps of coffee and spice. This will definitely be a crowd pleaser.

    Neutral Tones

Gorgeous ambergris. The cognac sweetens it a little and the sage is a grounding earthy note that reminds me of that in Eve With Sage. The ambergris is the star on me, though, which is a win because the Lab's ambergris is so lovely but can be overshadowed in more "busy" blends. I see the resemblance to Grey Columns, though that one is more sweet/vanillic and this one more . . . petrichor ish, almost. Edit: wish I got a backup bottle of this.

    Constellation

This is a gorgeous amber blend. It reminds me a lot of the Black Amber & Sugarcane duet, except I think I like it even better. This amber is deep, dark, velvety, almost a little musky, and the sugared clove is this sparkly sheen of spicy-sweetness. Unrested and unaged, the throw and longevity aren't that strong, but ambers always age well (and even if it stays as a sexy skin scent, I'm fine with it!). I might have to pick up a second bottle so I can slather with abandon. If you fell in love with Black Amber & Sugarcane or wanted to try it, and you also like clove, I definitely recommend this!

From Whose Eyes As They Glance Flowed Love

This is perhaps the creamiest vanilla-rose scent I've tried! Definitely Katrina Van Tassel adjacent, so if that's one you've been pining for, definitely give From Whose Eyes As They Glance Flowed Love a try. This goes on with a dewy, gentle rose, and as it wears the sugar, whipped vanilla, and skin musk come to the front and the rose recedes. The lasting scent is a glowing your-skin-but-better vanilla. I really enjoy these skin musk/floral/vanilla blends (in the same family as Like the Very Gods and On Wednesday, I Will Promise You a Phantom), and this is an utterly gorgeous addition to that family.

A Robe All Red With Dripping Gore

Oooh, I'm getting lots of red amber! The red musk, while present, is more like the type in Red Ribbon that is sugared and doesn't take over everything. The honey is kind of sweet and powdery and the saffron adds a bit of a bitter edge on the dry down. Another lovely addition to the sweetened red musk blends.

    Unarmed and Laughing

This is very pretty; a sparkling vanilla amber with the Lab's bright champagne note. It reminds me a lot of Champagne Lace. Will be great for everyday wear.

    Queen of Elphame

To me, this seems in the same family as The Girl, Ava, and I Sit and Sew. It has a few similarities to Woman at the Edge of the Woods as well, though this is less earthy. Overall, this is a very sheer, ethereal "green" vanilla, with a light backdrop of jasmine and lily of the valley. I get more vanilla and yew than plum, but maybe I will detect that more at some point. Quite lovely and faery like.

    White Clover, Elderflower, and Apple

This is really beautiful. 💚 It's a crisp, perfumey apple (like the apple in Honeyed Apple IMO) with a backdrop of fresh clover and bright elderflower. It makes me think of rolling around in a clover field or a fairy circle or something; I definitely recommend if you like the notes.🍀🍏
