    La Primavera

Cleansing of a mad world in need of serenity. This scent is clean, smooth, and just serene. When I saw clean, I don’t mean like a cleaner or disinfect. It’s light, grin inducing, and makes you drift into a wooded clearing of tranquility. The plumb blossom I believe is what gives this a somewhat sweet scent with the other florals melding into a beautiful menagerie of blissful intents. Then the lemon… I worried about this as I thought it would make me smell like a house cleaner. Yet here it just brightens up the scent. The ylang ylang makes the a fragrance a bit more perfume-like I believe, but still keeps from being too much at any given time. The most surprising aspect of this is the jasmine. I expected this to take the frontline over everything else but it just hangs back and supports everything else. This scent is just beautiful. I had this on for 9 hours then while working out and it continued smell pleasant. It certainly has lasting power. The throw is on the lower end but that just makes it more personal.

    Dragon's Claw

Savory sandalwood in a multitude of delights. To put it simply, my skin agrees very well with sandalwood scents. The dragon’s blood resin gives it a deeper scent that works to keep the sandalwood in check. Generally I don’t wear many dragon’s blood scents out of the notion that it gives off an incense type of throw on me. This however is a fragrance that I can see myself enjoying every once in awhile.

    Fake News

Deceptive and with misdirection. Upon first putting this scent on, I smelled patchouli and something like pvc plastic or a new pool toy. Not the best opener to give me confidence. After it dries more the tobacco comes out and warms up nicely. The pepper is in there as well but only as a hint of added spice. That plastic pvc aspect fades and I am left with soft patchouli layered with pepper spiced tobacco. A scent I did not know would be as enriching as it is. I find myself liking this much more than expected. The tobacco is what lures me the most to this scent. I like it so much. Has an older and oddly refined aspect. Tempted to get a full bottle of this but I think a few more wears of the decant will be required first. I will agree that this scent makes no sense.

    Nevertheless, She Persisted

Sharp and of respect of those bearing witness. With this scent I didn’t know what to expect. What I can say is that my skin amped the frankincense more than anything. I did pick up a touch of the metal/steel. Over the course of the wear some of the golden oudh. However, this mostly smelled like frankincense on me. Plus the throw was very short on me, but that could also do with how much I put on at the time. It is unfortunately not a scent that works for me. The decant is plenty but I do not think I’ll spring for a full bottle of this one.

    COVFEFE

Enjoyable confusion at its finest. Wet: I am brought back to the summers where I’d enjoy a delicious creamsicle/dreamsicle treat. A mixture of citrus orange and creamy sweet milk. That is what comes through first in this. Yet lurking just behind it is something not sweet and creamy. Something just off center that is difficult to nail down. Lemon and pepper is what creeps in here. Still makes it a pleasant scent that makes me think of summer. Dry: Still remains very much the same but the black pepper comes out a little more. The lemon fades to the back even more to where barely a hint is picked up. I never smelled gin in this. Was surprised and disappointed in this. Final thoughts: This scent is more foodie than anything I have tried so far. I like it! Co-worker felt it was not very masculine but still pleasant enough. The throw is very short on me. Which I would think is a good thing. I didn’t know what to expect from this scent and still find it interesting. A decant is enough to sate me for now. One day I may get a full bottle.

    Haunted

Memories of moments lost devolved to sublime comfort. Wet: The black musky comes out fiercely in this. To a point where I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wear this for the day. And there’s something else a bit sharp in there too. Know others think lemon but it’s something else that I cannot fully place my finger it. Fortunately, as the wear continued, it settles into something finer and more pleasant. Dry: The Amber comes out! And it comes out in a divine form. The musk balances it out just enough so the amber isn’t sickly sweet. It becomes a glorious scent on my skin that is well balanced. Final thoughts: This reminds me a bit of Womb Furie a couple hours after the dry down with a slight musk twist. It is pleasant and one that I enjoyed wearing all day at work. It does lack a lot of throw on me to where I could pick up whiffs if it every now and again. Still very content with it as a daily wearable scent. May need to get a full bottle instead of just an imp.

    Water of Notre Dame

Calm and enticing waters of new promise. Wet: A clean and aquatic floral comes through on this scent. Light and liberating in a way. Dry: the scent remains consistent in what it delivers at the wet stage. If there is a change, it is that there is a slightly more noticeable note of flora. Final thoughts: An overall pleasant and enjoyable scent. I have not experienced a lot of scents that have aquatic properties to them and this makes me want to enjoy them more. I find it to be well balanced and something that reminds me of springtime. The throw is wide so a little goes a long way.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Mat Night - “The joy of wanton mischief: caramelized tobacco and slowly falling snow muffling the scent of a distant fire.“ I found myself really liking the Mat Night scent but that is obviously no longer available. Any suggestions on something that might match that one that is readily available?

    Midian Unmade

More than the dead dwell within the graveyard of Midian. Wet: Freshly turned and moist soil with a hint of wet tree bark surround me. I feel as though I have been plunged into the ground. Deeply into it’s cool and dark embrace. Engulfing is the best way to phrase this. It has a rather long throw that doesn’t smell like something trying to have the scent of soil but rather it is the scent of soil. It’s not a bad thing at all. Yet it does smell like someone that has bathed in soil. Dry: Slowly the scent of the freshly turned soil and branches falls away. The branches are gone as I wander deeper into Midian‘s winding tunnels. I find myself still surrounded by soil yet there is more that comes to me. I find myself inside of a sacred place. A place of reverence. A temple or shrine of sorts that has incense of godly workings for its believers. The longer this wears the more prominent the sweet incense becomes. I swear I pick up a faint hint of dried blood now but not sure from where. The caked on soil slops off and I become born anew. Final Thoughts: This scent surprised me a lot. I had been wanting to try it for sometime and finally obtained a decant. I was hit hard with the vibrant scent of soil that I did not anticipate at all. My skin seems to amp soil a lot compared to other scents. I like the scent of soil a lot and this scratches that need a lot. Even the incense smell I like and I usually shy away from incense smells since more often than not I end up smelling like a head-shop. I do regret that the scent of scorched cypress branches did not poke through a bit more yet what it does add is still worth basking in. I don’t know if I would reach for this often but it is sparingly indulgent. Will likely tap out the decant and still get more.

    Tristran

Hopelessly romanced by a tender protagonist. This scent is soft. Soft and delicate in ways I did not expect. If you told me there was patchouli in this, I would have never believed you. It holds a delicate tenseness that is profoundly masculine in the ways of wearing your emotions on your sleeve. I did not think I would be fond of this scent going in but after trying to a couple of times, I am made a believer. Lemon in any form is something I have stated away from out of fear it would smell like a cleaner on me. Yet here… I just want more. This blend just works. There is a light, savory-sweet, and pleasantly lingering quality to this fragrance. Nothing stands out as harsh or bold. Just consistently there and pleasant. Casual and endearing. I got this as a decant yet I find myself humoring the desire for a full bottle. It’s such a good daily go to scent I think. The throw alone keeps a respectful distance too as not to offend the sensibilities anyone near by with a lasting staying power.

    The Apothecary

Something simple and natural that applies a needed balm. Wet: Sweet moist moss and grass comes into the foreground with a light juiced sweetness. I feel like I have just wandered into a naturalist healing shop just after the morning sun has come up. Greeted with freshly ground herbs resting next to piles of recently harvested moss. The throw is medium at this stage. Dry: The mosses and fig remain but are mellowed out slightly with the arrival of ginger than slips in without notice. The transition is so sleek and seamless that it is a natural progression for the scent. Subtly beautiful is the best way I can describe this scent. The throw becomes less but still remains present on the skin. Final Thoughts: I can say that as a result of this scent, I love mossy fragrances. A lot. After a day and night of wear, a faint lingering remnant of this sticks with me that I was pleased to discover. I did have to refresh it the next morning just so I could enjoy it again. I wish the Potter’s Field fragrance was closer to this one.

    Mat Night

A night of cold embrace and comforts. Wet: Smoky tobacco and faint fire with inviting flames. It’s striking at first and yet familiar. There’s a cool stillness in this. Like the scent is trying to be suppressed or muted, which is a result of the cold element in this. The throw I would say is medium. Dry: The coolness fades the closer I get to the fire. The tobacco gains a certain sweet warmth to it. There is a nice smoky scent that comes into the warmed air that mingles well with the sweet tobacco. The throw remains medium and continues to warm the longer it wears. Final thoughts: This scent confirms that tobacco is something my skin loves. It want to amp that more than the other scents and this is in the best way possible. This isn’t a hard scent at all. It starts off cool and warms up well. Brings a feeling of being outside in a good autumn night where the glowing call of a distant fire and a sweet rolled cigarillo is given to bring us more comforts. This is a scent that is so worthwhile on many levels. I would like to wear this on any fall day and during some winter nights.

    The Potter's Field

A field waiting to burst with green life. Wet: Heavy bags of top soil with a fresh layer of perennial flowers are here. There are hot piles of mulch here to help support the field in its growth. You can see and feel the peeping and tending to the earth with this scent at this stage. There is some very good ground work being laid here. Dry: A subtle spiced herbal root is plucked from the ground. Waiting to be dried and used. Still the moist top soil is present and still aims to give a lush and vibrant field of growth. The mulch as cooled some and have become spread over the grounds, which make it difficult to note the perennials anymore. After about 4 hours of wear the perennials becoming rooted into the soil and bloom. They bring a light and sweet fragrance with them not that the mulch scent has faded. Final thoughts: This scent reminds me so much of trips taken to the garden and plant nursery with my mum. I feel like I have fresh, rich soil under my nails, herbs in a burlap bag, fragrant rooted flowers, and plant bulbs ready to fill the garden. The smell of a steaming wood mulch pile to help support the growth of plants while preventing weeds from forming is constant in this for me along with that moist soil scent in all stages. It is a nice earthy scent with a medium throw. Do I enjoy it for a nostalgic vibe but I do not believe this is a scent that I will reach for very often. For earthy scents in this line I enjoy the Eau de Ghoul over this on my skin.

    Jiaolong

Sweet darkness in a cup. Wet: Sweeted musk with a subtle back drop of coffee brewed comes out for a late morning brunch. The sweet sugar cane is a prominent part of this encounter. Throw is long on this and happily so. Dry: Such sweet coffee is placed in front me. Blissfully sweeted coffee and I swear a hint of dark vanilla. Only a drop or two. This continues to grow into a deep sweet coffee and musk scent on me. I’m not even keen on coffee but this is so delicious on my skin. The longer it wears the sweeter and deeper the scent becomes. I no longer smell a cup of coffee after 3 hours of wear but sweet roasted coffee beans and warmed split sugar canes. The looming musk has faded and I’m left with an even more enriching scent. 6 hours in and it has a scent closer to sweet vanilla bean dusted with a well blended coffee. It does go borderline powdery but is still rather pleasant. Final thoughts: I want to lick my skin and just bask in this scent so much. I thought this was going to be a heavy coffee scent on me which I wasn’t too excited for but wow! Yeah. I really like this. It’s a buttery smooth and simple noted scent that is rich and has depth. Best part is that the throw remains long and is just pleasant. I will need to get more of this. A lot more.

    skekZok the Ritual Master

Sacred moments of higher devotion. Wet: A room filled with frankincense burst through the atmosphere. Then there is a combining of opoponax gives a sweetness that draws me into an experience that feels beyond my range and scope of mortal perceptions. Dry: What was once a moment of sacrament has devolved into something more base. Something more known. A feeling of standing inside of a secret back room only a select few are permitted to enter. Incense is thick and dense in this room. A haze of rites are rather prominent. Final thoughts: In general this smells like a pleasant head-shop where items of smoke and paraphernalia can be obtained. It’s not a bad scent by any means if you are looking for such a thing. I find this to be good for anyone that is keep to do card readings, tell fortunes, or try & pierce beyond a vail. The throw is medium range on me and others commented that is smells pleasant on me. However, after several hours the smell goes wonky on me. I know it still has some sort of incense smell to it, yet is goes sideways with my body chemistry that I don’t like. For me, this is not a scent that I find I can wear.

    skekTek the Scientist

A leisure life of science. Wet: Something sweet comes through with this. Sweet and floral which i can only guess is the passionflower and I think the myrrh. The black currant plays a very good background support note here that keep this scent pleasant. The throw is rather short however. But still pleasant. Dry: I get a subtle hint of something dense/deep but it is laired with the sweet floral scent from the passionflower and myrrh. The black current makes this blend well into the skin that has me smirking each time I catch a whiff of it. It’s rather light and playful as science should be. Final thoughts: This is a rather pleasant scent with a short throw. It has a flora sweet scent to it that is not overbearing with an oppressive vibe like some of the others Dark Crystal scents are that I have tried. This is almost like a tropics scent on me. It edges in wanting to go powdery but pulls back before getting to that point. It keeps being light and playful. I could see myself wearing this in the office when I want something pleasant but not too strong that it may be offensive to others. I did find that the cats do not like this scent as I do. I don’t think I’ll get a full bottle of this but is was still nice to try as a decant.

    The Hell-Gate Of Ireland

*2013 Halloween bottle* Hell’s gates are far too inviting for its own good. Wet: As I approach the gates, a wafting air of faint brimstone, leathery-tar, and tobacco spreads over me. A spicy scent comes out that speaks of both dangers and unknown temptations. The throw is medium but of note. Dry: There is an added spot to clove and musk that speaks of beings beyond the gate that have no mercy to spare now. The gates have now closed behind me as the scent softens. I am since in the snare. I can no longer go back. I am not beyond redemption. And I like it. The throw remains as medium and continues to warm the skin where it has touched me. Final thoughts: This is a beautifully crafted scent. I can’t help but want to continue to indulge what this fragrance gives. I even applied another application after 8 hours of wear because of how much I found myself enjoying it. This was a gamble for me to get. I was not sure about the bitter labdanum, however any concerns I had were unfounded. I wish I could get another bottle of this, but I’ll remain grateful for what I have now.

    Eau de Ghoul

A ghoulish life is a pleasant life for me. Wet: I savory spices resting in loamy soil come out first. Then a sweet spiced ginger comes through with a beautifully rich clove that doesn’t want to dominate but enhance the experience. For an instance I swear I pick up a spray of lime. Dry: If this is what a ghoul smells like then I need more of this in my life! Rich spice and earth still remain consistent as it did in the wet stage. The longer this wears the softer and more loamy it becomes. A hint of ginger masking the decrepit hangs on so fondly. The throw is at medium length on me and I find it so very pleasant. Final thoughts: This is an earthy spiced scent I’ve been looking for and wanting for the longest. This blends into my natural body chemistry so well that it is absurd. This is a scent that feels right especially as the sun dips below the horizon and something a bit deeper is wanted. I will admit that I will need a few backup bottles of this.

    skekUng the Garthim-Master

The master of smoke, earth, and hardship for others. Wet: I get a lot of smoke and something that is like a woodsy lemon which I believe is the vetiver. I’m reminded of a fire in a field just before dusk. Small, controlled, and fierce. Dry: I mostly get a similar scent from when it was wet. The smoky aspect of this is amping more on me than anything. There is a little bit of dragons blood coming out that is making it go more incense-like in the far background. Final thoughts: There is something ancient feeling about this. Something covered in a reptilian form of force. I mostly get smoke mixed with dragons blood. It’s not horrible but it is not a scent I hoped for. Expected a more subtle complexity on me. The throw is short to medium, closer to the short side. I am glad I tried it but I do not believe this to be a scent for me. Update: 2+ hours in I not get a hint of steel through this. I am rather surprised. The scent has also softened on me as well. The smoky scent is what has faded that is allowing the dragons blood and steel to come out a bit more. I am liking this more than I originally started out.
  20. Mister Azure

    Womb Furie

A place of sweet comfort. Wet: Soft, thick, and sweet are the best means to describe this fragrance. It was a subtle sweetness that starts off thick and savory. Not sickeningly sweet as I initially thought it would be. Dry: this continues to become even smoother, more aromatic, and a warm melting sweetness that coats beautifully on the skin. Final thoughts: Sweet heavens, this is such a sublime and wonderful scent for me! It’s is simple but impactful. The throw may be short to medium but is not one of displeasure for anyone. The honey comes out so well on me. I find that I amp honey and this just works on many levels. I believe the snake oil is what helps bind this all together so things are not in a hard fought competition. If I needed to pick a new simplistic scent, then this is it. I want this in my life and will be addicting it to my favorites list.
  21. Mister Azure

    As Above

Leather drenched with white patchouli, oak bark, bourbon vanilla, bitter almond, and Moroccan jasmine. A scent of false promise. Wet: I am hit with what seems like a strip of leather and something else that is harsh. So harsh that I cannot pick up much else. Which is disappointing so far. Dry: This does not improve on me. That hardness devolves into a very sharp antiseptic odor. A very strong antiseptic at that. Final thoughts: This is not a bottle for me. I even tried layering it with Alternative Facts since it is a very sweet fragrance but that did not help. Just smelled like melting plastic and antiseptic mixed together. I was so hopeful for this given the notes in it. I want to say it is the bitter almond that is making this a no go on me. Not sure in full however. Still, no thank you.
  22. Mister Azure

    The Stormhold

A fortress of cleanliness and duty. Wet: I can smell stone and moss. Wet vibrant moss that clings to the rock side structure. It’s very comforting to experience life even in a seemingly isolating place. Dry: The hard stone and moistened moss fade away and I am then left with a scent of fresh soap and clean linen. As though chores and cleanliness are needed no matter what one does in their life. Final thoughts: I hoped for a rock earth scent lined with rain and moss. This is delivered when wet and it’s so wanted. Yet it goes into a fresh soap like scent. At tone point I thought it was going to go powdery yet it manages to refrain from that. Had this fragrance kept its potential when it was wet, then this would be a likely winner for me. However, it takes a very sharp turn that I was not expecting and did not truly desire. This was an experience that I’m glad I had even if I do not believe I will revisit.

    skekNa the Slave-Master

Not sure if skekNa knows what skekNa wants in life. Wet: Off the bat this is a rather confusing scent. I initially pick up scents of spices, some sort of twisted sweets that aren’t fresh, and some form of leather. Not a heavy note of leather but a faint, thin strip of leather. Everything in this mingles together in such a way that it’s rather difficult to pick up certain notes. I believe the spices of scent of liqueurs are so intertwined that I cannot pick out one from the other definitively. The throw is short to medium. It does like to stay close on me all the same. Dry: As it starts to dry, I swear there is a hint of rust that pokes through. I get more of a scent of the spice and soft leather. Something vaguely sweet pokes its head through now. There’s an older scent to this. Something weathered and sated in current times. There are scraps of sweet cakes, remnants of heavy creams, and dried liqueurs that give way to something cold (the metal padlocks) and that leathery scent. It does soften after several hours and I get more sweet spices. After 5 hours it maintains a nice throw to it and has not been eaten by my skin much. It has mellowed out some now and is even more interesting and pleasant! Still on the low to medium throw end for me. Final thoughts: I do not hate this scent. It’s so interesting and unique. I find myself constantly sniffing it on myself trying to figure it out. There are more spice notes that come out with some leather backing it up but I can’t seem to pluck out all the individual scents however. This is not a bad thing, but speaks to how it blends. I will have to do more repeat wears to be able to say definitely if I love it or not. Right now I view it favorably especially as it softens after a handful of hours. The more it settles on my skin the more I find myself enjoying it. This could also be a touch of Stockholms syndrome for the skekNa.

    Amsterdam

Wet: I am presented to fresh cut flowers. Reminiscent of walking into a flower shop or springtime plant nursery. Layered on top of this I feel as though I am sitting near a creek of clean flowing water with thick and soft blades of grass. The water is cool and crisp to the posing that I want to sip it while basking in the freshly cut flowers nearby. The throw is short on me. Rather close to the skin. Dry: The flowers take over the longer they sit with me. Soft, blooming flowers. While I was able to get a little if the grass by the creek when wet, I only pick up a bit of the clean water misting the flower petals now. The grass is not just a fading thing that once tried to lull me. The throw remains close to the skin after less than an hour is wear. Final thoughts: I do like this scent as a floral with some aquatics. It is bright, soft and refreshing. This makes me long for the springtime bursting with life. I do. It believe this is a scent I would wear only occasional while at home on the weekend. A modest imp is plenty for me.

    Coyote

Sweet dessert life abound. Wet: This opens up with dry grass, twigs, and soil with a sweet musk. There is also a faint odor of animal skin. Not a mangy creature but a creature of respect that is to be revered. Dry: Like the trickster god, this goes form a dry earthy scent to a sweet musk on clean flesh. I still feel like there is a subtle presence of the desert grasses but it is more of an accent than something in the forefront. Final thoughts: Sweet earth that travels and rises. The musk with the amber are the some of the final notes that come out the most after a couple hours of wear. I cannot discern a particular woody note but what I can pick up all blends into that dry earthy scent. It is not an in your face obnoxious fragrance. This is a scent to just enjoy gradually. It’s a subtle and self enjoying scent that has a short to medium throw. Something nice for a more intimate or office wear. I will likely wear this when wandering downtown or even on a hike. Curious to know how this will present itself while I workout at the gym. After about 6 hours and a gym trip later has mellowed this scent out a lot more and I pick up the grass scent again, which reminds me more of sun baked grass just past noon. I will have to get a bottle of this as I feel like the imp will run out very soon!
