    The Serpent in the Roses

Yep I definitely agree with those saying this is BPAL. This is gorgeously blended. I'm getting red musk, rose, and something reminiscent of the actual namesake fragrance, Black Phoenix. The amber must be rounding this out in all its warmth. No soapiness, no cloying florals. It's hard to put this one into words other than just "this is great". The SO is very light in this one, but there; it's elegant and gorgeous all at once.

    Femdom

So I will pretty much try any blend that has the lab's Champagne note; it is a favorite and never disappoints, but sometimes what's blended with it can. Blackcurrant and I are generally not friends, so I was a little concerned about this one, but it turns out that was not necessary because this is a Champagne/Plum blend on me! The blackcurrant is barely hinting underneath, providing the slight floral note I think others have detected. I love the lab's plum, so this blend is a real hit for me. I smell like elegant candy hearts/sweet tarts dropped into fizzy champagne. Love!!

    Moondrunk

On me, this is definitely an absinthe-and-sugar-forward scent, backed by an underlay of champagne. Sweet and festive.

    Santa Doesn’t Need Your Help

I ultimately love it - it’s beautiful skin scent, but a terrible locket scent for me! On skin it’s a gorgeous sugar plum candy with the lavender adding a bright/tart edge. Everyone in my office is complimenting how good I smell using words like “sweet tarts” and “delicious candy!” In the locket, though, the lavender is adding a sourness to the sugar plum that sits wrong with me. It really needs my skin to blossom. Which is fine anyway because I really love the lab’s sugar plum on my skin!

    Forge of Vulcan

Oh damn I love this. It's smoky, it's musty, it's absolutely reddish blood amber poured over smoke, creating an incense-y vibe, but not too much and not too "this is a college dorm room". It's like a sophisticated, well-maintained wood-paneled basement that's got some incense smoke imparted into the couches over the years.

    Boozy Lemon Bars

I love this so much. I used to have an indie body cream in the early 00s that smelled like this. It's got the lemony-booze of Sour Lemon Smut with a carmelized custard crust that smells like it's just had the blowtorch applied. Stays pretty much the same on skin as it does when first applied. Baked Lemony goodness.

    In Silvery Accents, Whispering Low

This is a morpher! Freshly applied, it's a lot of pure coffee bean and cardamom goodness. As it fades, a vanilla/cognac-like note emerges, and the drydown is comforting and delicious.

    Ginny, the Reaper of Vengeance

Peppery cognac, with the tobacco flower adding an undertone of warmth. The "amber of her eyes" is indeed reminiscent of "Inside the Golden Amber of Her Eyes" so if you like that too, you may love this. (I do!)

    Welcome Unto Thee

I agree that this is nearly a Champagne SN, which for me is a win since I love the BPAL Champagne note. It's a bright, fizzy champagne with a hint of what's to me almost an orange cream soda undertone? Fantastic. If you love the Lab's Champagne note, you definitely need to try this.

Red Musk, Sugared Amber, and Red Berries

This one definitely needs to settle! When my bottle first arrived it was all screechy berries. I almost sold it off right away but I decided to wait. I’m glad I did because after a few weeks, the red musk and sugared amber both showed up and blended in beautifully. Now it’s a gorgeous festive red musk blend on me. Definitely has a holiday/winter feel to it. A little goes a long way on this as it has a strong throw, but I’m really glad I kept it. I like it a lot.

    Lightning Strikes the Future

This is really lovely when freshly applied; it’s a nice red musk that recalls cassette tape liner notes (which I love) with a tiny bit of ozone. As it dries, the red musk fades and the scent takes a turn towards more of an ozone-y amber. I think that’s the fossilized aspect coming through. It’s really nicely blended and not overwhelming at all.

    Three Pairs of Shoes

I love this but it is definitely for leather lovers! It smells like being in a closet full of dusty leather shoes, with a touch of waxy smoke (not heavy smoke though). It really reminds me of going into an old attic or an old costume shop. It’s one of the more unique blends I think I’ve ever gotten from BPAL. Highly recommend if this sounds at all up your alley.

    L.A. River Pumpkin

This is lovely! It's a sweet fleshy pumpkin - no spices just the pure flesh of a pumpkin - warmed by light pear and pineapple. The musk is hiding in the background keeping it all from being too sweet or too candy-like. I also really do get a "sunny" vibe, as if all the ingredients were sitting out in warm fall sun. I got a decant of this but will upgrade to a bottle, that's how much I like it!

    Elder Blossoms, Champagne, and Blackcurrant

This is so interesting because unlike Casablanca's review, on me the Black Currant stomps all over the Elder Blossoms and Champagne. On application this has a really light, elegant champagne and - gin maybe? - feel to it. Like I imagine wearing this while sipping a fancy gin cocktail in a speakeasy. It's so nice. Then about an hour in, OH NO HERE COMES BLACK CURRANT. Once it shows up, it's a Black Currant party. I keep giving this another chance because the first hour is so good, though.

    Samhain

2022: this year‘s blend is the usual beautiful Samhain we all know and love, but somehow a little mellower? I don’t know how to describe it, but I have many different Samhains and this one goes on slightly less sharp than many of them do. (And that’s not a read; I love Samhain in any form.) There is also a decidedly soft cacao note laying in the dry down - even my coworker asked if I was wearing something that was “fall spices and chocolate”. This is the first time I’ve noticed that note in a Samhain blend and it’s a lovely addition. If you already love Samhain, obviously you gotta get this year’s. If you have never tried it, this might be a great way to introduce yourself to its beauty.

    Victory

I had tested this a little on Saturday fresh from the mail and knew I liked it, but a couple days of mellowing has only made it better! It’s champagne, it’s pumpkin spice, it’s a little bit of cheesecake. Love it. While wearing this, somebody did ask “what’s that scent, it’s like…Halloween? But a candle?” I agree with the review above that if you love the lab’s Champagne note, you definitely need this.

    Precious Beauty

High-end, classy Honey Nut Cheerios. I’m not mad about it. I dub this a great “summer foodie” scent because it’s not too strong and would be refreshing on a hot day, but it’s still got that nice foodie kick.

    White Fig, Coconut, and Cream

OMG I’m in love. This is so dreamy and a wonderful summer scent. Gorgeous fig and coconut cream…it’s sweet without skewing into suntan lotion - though I love that too - just breezy and beautiful and has a touch of a candy note. I got a decant and can’t order a full size fast enough.

    Coconut, Smoked Vanilla & Fig

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this one yet! Simply put it is the perfect summer scent and I always reach for it when the weather is very hot. No one note dominates on my skin; I get an excellent blend of the coconut, vanilla, and the fig. It is truly evocative of a tropical beach and cooling breezes.

    The Secret Meaning Behind Flowers

This is fresh out of the mail and I couldn’t resist trying it. it is already incredible. It’s like a beautiful mashup of Peach Vulva & Vanilla Wafers and Peach Cream. The magnolias aren’t overpowering but they do lend a beautiful summary floral feel. The coconut milk & fig are both gentle and no one note is screeching over the other. I agree that there’s a slight ice cream feel, but it’s not foodie. I can only imagine how beautifully this will age, but as it stands now it’s already a perfect blend and I will be wearing it a lot this summer!
  21. This is delightful, it is lemon vanilla cream with a slightly fruity candied undertone that I’d almost call Jell-O. I also get some faint whiffs of coconut. I really love it.

    Berliner Dom Antics

One of Lilith’s and my favorite pastimes is climbing up tall buildings and scaring Beth. This photo was taken at the Cathedral in Berlin and the whole time, Beth was yelling “Be careful!” and “I can’t look!” Frosted gingerbread and frosted patchouli. One of two blind bottles I bought from the Yuletide with Lilith release, and sure glad I did. This is heavenly. It is an incredible mix of Gingerbread, Patchouli, and what to my nose is the “Frostbitten” note from this year’s Yules. That’s pretty much all I get from it, but that’s great!! It’s delicious and comforting and not too strong or overpowering. I wore it both in my locket and on my wrists. The wrists have settled to a soft frozen patchouli spice after many hours. If you like any of those notes you definitely have to try this.

    Shouutsushi Aioi Genji

Opening the bottle I got a blast of honey?! Upon application though it’s all lotus, which made me a little nervous (like it was going to be far more floral than I anticipated.) However, that faded and the familiar candle smoke/beeswax scent appeared. As the day wore on this morphed into something that reminded me of a spring version of Endless Corridors or Bloody Corridors, which I guess must be the smoke note. I never detected the Amber. The overall scent is soft and not overpowering.

Vanilla Husk, Nutmeg, & Hay Absolute

Wow wow wow this is amazing. It’s a real mashup of Antique Lace and Rendezvous with Her Lover Behind the Rice Straws and Hay Moon…with the nutmeg adding a little bit of smokiness. Divine.

    Penis Bound With Gold Ribbon

Freshly applied, this is a soft lemon cream. As it dries, the amber and musk become more prominent. It’s a gorgeous blend; simple, not overpowering, just left me continually thinking “damn I smell good!”
