Some Honourable Mentions: Blood Kiss: Actually wearing this today! Titus Andronicus was Gifted to me in an order on here! Mary Shelley

In Bottle: Heavy Sweet Florals, a hint of anise, and something that is less aquatic and more soapy. There is a hint of something peppery Wet on Skin. Floral, but with an edge, The anise and what I assume is the ozone and rainy notes are lurking, but the impression I'm getting now is sweet rotting flowers in a vase on a side-table somewhere. Slightly unpleasant, but holds promise of a really good scent under the heavy florals Dry on Skin. This aquatic is not playing nice apparently. One friend says I smell like soap. My roommate says I smell like his grandmother, specifically of White Diamonds. It's nice enough, pleasant but sadly soapy instead of the absinthe dream I was expecting. I'll keep it around, and I think it would be lovely for a situation where you want to smell nice but not overwhelmingly like you're wearing perfume. Not for me, and sad that I don't seem to be getting much of the absinthe, but I don't actively dislike it.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I've been using wandcaps and they work well for me, something about tipping a bottle just screams DANGER. I also hate rollerballs, as I feel it's always not enough or too much perfume. I think different methods depend on where people apply though, I'm an inner wrists and one side of the neck kinda person, but espically if you're someone that likes a bit more I think that rollerballs really do wonders.
  6. You all have made some lovely and... interesting suggestions! I will be placing my order on the 26th or 27th (waiting for the moon scent, and possible liliths) but please, keep commenting, it's really interesting to see how varied your tastes are! I will of course announce what I decide to add as imps, so stay tuned for some kudos for convincing my mind that my grubby little fingers NEED these scents

    Black Annis

I love love love this scent Wet: Something deep and what I can only describe as nutty. The anise is peeking through but the vetiver and civet are holding it back. Dry Down: The sweetness of the Anise begins to peek through, sweet and musky, like a boiling pot of anise in a witch's hut in a swamp. Deep and sweet and wild, with just a hint of that nutty flavour Absolutely beautiful. After a few hours this becomes a lovely sweet note, with the anise sticking around for the longest. Theres something mysterious and dangerous to this, that just draws me in. After a few hours this is mostly a sugary sweet anise that hangs close to my skin. It's divine honestly I just want to cover everything I own in it. Every stage of this is distinct yet beautiful.

    Smokestack

Creosote, coal, and industrial waste. Ugh. I wanted to love this I really did. Much like the middle aged food blogger I aspire to be this review has a story. I grew up in Seattle, sometime between the gentrification and the tech companies moving in. A few blocks from my house was a park called Gasworks park, a sprawling green park on the edge of the Puget sound, with large brown tanks and pipes bursting from the grounds of the old gasworks. It was basically a tar pit covered up and turned into a park. The tanks themselves as well as areas where the tar bubbled up were gated off, but I can still remember the heavy tar and gasoline and industrial smell even though it's been easily a decade since I was last there. I was hoping for that smell in a bottle. Instead the imp I got smells of foul burning pine. Which would be fine if it didn't absolutely choke the air around me, and stay there for hours. On me it smells like one of those open 365 day christmas stores, but after it has burned to the ground. The pine completely blocks my sinuses, and something underneath is sickly and cloying upon drydown. Maybe it works for some, but my body chemistry turns this into absolute rubbish. If you are in any way sensitive to pine or fir trees avoid this like the plague.

    Mad Hatter

The lavender comes out strongly on me, and meshes well with the citrus and something that I cannot quite identify, so probably the pennyroyal when I first put it on. It is lovely and bright and quite gender-neutral if you care about that sort of thing. It dries down into what I can only describe as a faintly herbal sugary scent, with light notes of musk occasionally coming through. This is by far my most casual everyday scent, and I love it to bits! If you prefer something sweet and herbal than you'll love this!
