    Danube

This smells like sweet flowers, but more like some that have been sitting and rotting in a vase. Sad. I don't know why I bother with florals. *hums the Danube Waltz in her head*

    White Rabbit

I forgot how much the bpal ginger note amps on my skin. I wanted tea + honey from this with a little pepper, but I got ginger + linen only. And I swear I have roses in there somewhere. And it's a little milky, but no tea, or honey. But... I don't hate it....

    The Winter of Our Discontent

I got this as a decant. In the bottle, and when it was still wet on my skin, it was very musky and foresty, but in a bad, almost astringent way. There was a point when it was drying where it was nutmeg, cloves and oranges, with a background of the forest, which is almost what Yuletide smells like on me. Dry, it's SO astringent, almost lemony, and all woods and roses.

    Ace of Pentacles

Picked up a frimp of this at the Atlanta Meet n' Sniff. I smell patchouli and spruce, which must be the black pine. As it dries the honeysuckle comes out, which to me is an add combination. Like smelling a flower while walking in a dark forest - so I guess it could happen. I think I would use this when I needed to feel grounded, but not so much as a perfume.

    Scarecrow

Picked this up as a frimp at the Atlanta Meet n' Sniff. This reminds me of the time I moved across the country in August and stopped at the Iowa state fair. It was SO hot. I spent most of my time standing under the misting stations. The sheer heat with the hay - that's what I smell. As it dries it gets a little sweeter, as hay tends to, but I was hoping it would turn into the sweetgrass scent that I have some shower gel in, and it didn't. I probably would not wear it.

    Cathode

I have been wanting mint scents for when it gets really hot outside, so I snatched up a frimp of this at the Atlanta Meet n' Sniff. In the bottle, I smell minty moss. This goes through a really strange drying phase on me - its really musky and ozoney, I suppose this is the ambergis. As it dries, the minty moss comes back but I'm not sure I really like the moss being in there - it adds a definite masculine feeling to it. I'm going to keep it around until next summer though, so I can grab it on a hot humid day.

    Et Lux Fuit

I tried this at the Atlanta MnS. My sister loves Clinique's Happy, and the description sounded similar. At first, it was all sunflowers and sunshine - very yellow smelling. And then it touched my skin. *sigh* It must be the amber. It turned into a generic, too-strong perfume smell, similar to what happened with The Living Flame.

    Pumpkin Queen

I got to try this at the Atlanta MnS. I didn't order any initially because usually amber amps terribly on my skin. Wet, it was buttery, and pumpkiny. No amber anywhere! As it dried, it got spicy and citrusy. I adore it. And no amber anywhere! I will have to hunt down a decant now. ETA: I got a 1/5 imp of this from a swap and wore it today. I got more of the amber today, but it wasn't rancid. It's one of the oils that I would label "womanly," which I've been looking for for a while now. Hopefully I can find more.

    Frumious Bandersnatch

I picked up a frimp of this at the Atlanta Meet n' Sniff. At first, it's all sticky plums, like the overripe ones left under the tree. But then the carnation blends in and adds some spice. I don't normally wear anything with flowers. And this is fruitier than my normal scent, but... I like it. I feel like I wore the wrong clothes with it (come on, I can't be the only person matching clothes to my oils!)

    Punkie Night

Blech. I'm glad I got a decant instead of a bottle of this. I forgot that cranberry overpowers and turns to potpourri on me. Not cool.

    Creepy

Wow. Wet and in the bottle, I smell butterscotch chips, and think instantly of all the blondies I've made with them, or my delicious oatmeal butterscotch cookies. I really want cookies now. Then the apple starts coming out - CARAMEL APPLES! Wowza. I have so little on and it's all very strong. As it dries the apple hides in the background; I wish it were more prominent. My husband could smell this upstairs, so I would say the throw is strong. I really like it, although it might end up too foodie for me to wear. I'll keep it around at least from my home.

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

Wet, it is pretty musky, and then it goes through a nice stage of citrusy muskyness, which has scent memory for me (I'll let you know when I figure out WHAT the memory is, lol). An hour or so later, it has dried to a sweet-tea scent - not quite vanilla, but maybe even sweeter than that. Maybe I've lived in the south too long, or maybe it really is sweet tea.

    Pumpkin Patch III (2005, 2006)

In the bottle: Smells a lot like Jack or Pumpkin Patch #1. On my skin: At first, just the buttery pumpkin. Then the pomegranate comes out and slaps me in the face with its super fruity powers. Then there is this weird morph into a sandy spicy scent, reminiscent of one of the stages of Black Cat. Dry: Pumpkin in the background, pomegranate moves in and out. Very fall!

    Osun

It's crazy, but in the bottle I smell berries or cranberries, almost like those cheap potpourri packets sold at craft stores. When I first put it on my skin, it smells very herby, similar to The Unicorn. As it dries, the honey comes out, but the herbiness never leaves completely. It is very sweet and makes me think of thick wildflower or clover honey that I would bake with. Not my favorite honey scent, but not a dud either.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

Wanted to second this and HIGHLY recommend it! Better than Thaleia (more complex) and not that different from SN Honey (on me) which of course you can't purchase.

    Gennivre, L’Artiste du Diable

I knew I had to order this because tea + honey? My two top bpal notes!! When I first put it on, I could smell a strong shock of mint, but it quickly went to the background. It developed into a sweet, rich, honey-orange scent with perks of lemongrass and tea. I love and adore this. I might love it more than Honey Moon. I might love it more than SN Honey.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

Honey is my favorite note too! Honey Moon and SN Honey, if you can find it. Hetairae is honey and spices, and I love it. Bengal is similar too. I really adore Thaleia, in fact plan on ordering a big bottle of it someday. I've tried most of the others, but on me the predominant note was always something other than honey. If you can get your hands on it, Freak Show has a nice blend of different types of smells with the honey, and I wear it on my wackier days. And although it doesn't have honey in it, I always recommend Dorian. It's sweet and wonderful.

    Litha 2006

Honey mead with honeysuckle, oak wood, ivy leaf, wild thyme, carnation, daisy, vervain, gum arabic, frankincense, yauhtli, and liquid copal. In the bottle, it's hard to describe what I smell - definitely sweetness and earthyness. On my skin, I can smell the honey but it is more spicy, probably the wood and frankincense. Right before it dries the boozyness of the alcohol jumps out. Then comes the sad part. I really get carnations with this, which sadly turn a sickly sweet on my skin. It's like being in a florist's shop where a bunch of candles are lit and there hasn't been any fresh air for days. I believe it to be my skin's fault though, not the blend. It has never liked florals but I wanted to give it a shot anyway since Honey Moon is one of my favorites. Ever since, I have been determined to try all bpal honey scents. A little later, I just wanted to say I can really identify the bpal honey note in this because after a while it just smells like a magnified version of me. I can't wait through the multiple hour drying phase though.

Shortcut to Exotic Places - Wanderlust Recs

I love Glasgow (one of my top 3 scents and has been since my first order in 2004!) Tintagel (spicy, reminds me of winter holidays) Dublin (fresh and springy) Eden

    Wrath

When I first put this one, the skin on my wrist stayed red for a while, which freaked me out. The spices are strong at first and then they settle into the dragon's blood. The scent doesn't stick around on me for some reason.

    Delphi

I got an imp of this in my continuing effort to try all the blends with honey in them. In the bottle, I smell the incense very strongly. Applied, it is green and spicy. It turns almost herblike as it dries, and then BAM! Rancid fruit. Ah, must be the wine part of the honey wine. It never agrees with my skin. I never really end up smelling the honey in this one. Off to the swap pile.

    Aizen-Myoo

Found this in my imp box, and realized I had never tried it. First I read the description on my new handydandy spreadsheet and had to look up half the words. Yuzu = grapefruit/tangerine Kaki = persimmon Mikan = satsuma/clementine Ah. So this will be a citrus blends. Now some of the bpal citrus (especially orange blossom) turn bitter and rancid on my skin. In the bottle - strong strong citrus. Almost more of the peel/pith than the fruit, so a little bit of bitter freshness than juicyness. While it dries it is pure citrus. Dry I can sense some of the black tea but it seems content to take a back seat. The cherry blossom floats in and out but the citrus notes are definitely dominant. Something about this tastes.... real, I guess is the word I would use. Like I was eating the fruits. Nice for summer, but I don't think it will be in my top ten. I might send it to my little sis, who adores citrus....

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Thanks so much for doing all the work! Now I'm going to go through and add my reviews. This will help me stay organized!

    Hetairae

I have put off trying this on my skin, because in the bottle I smell spicyness, patchouli, and ylang ylang, all bad things for me. And that's what it smells like right at the beginning on, but then it warms into a slightly spicy, sexy honey. Almost better than Honey Moon or SN Honey because it isn't as sweet. My only issue is remembering to put it on early enough so that it gets through its ugly stage quickly! Happy for another BPAL honey scent....

    Ephemera

This scent somehow does remind me of loss, and I'm not sure why. I really get bright geraniums at first that quickly change into wet leaves. I'm not a floral person, but this was a freebie!
