    Robin Goodfellow

This smells like the woods - deep and dark and green. It's a deciduous woods, not a coniferous one. There are flowers growing. The sagey note was wonderful and enchanting. Robin Goodfellow was playing among the leaves and flowers, leading us further into the woods. It would be easy to get lost in this one. He softly faded away after a while. I wish he would stay longer, for his company is lovely to be in! (Faerygirl's review) It's very happy and playful. Since it smells so good on both of us, I think we just might have to get a bottle!

    Black Forest

Pine and lemon cleaner. Very strong. Does not go away. Very good for a wake-me-up-get-something-done. Like an overbearing clean freak mother. (Faerygirl's review) Very piney and I like it. It stays on a long time.

    Dolce Stil Nuovo

In the bottle, it's lovely. The first breath on my skin is heavenly roses. Ah, I love it! And then, sadly, the soap. It's nice soap, but still just soap and nothing special anymore. I wish I could get roses to stay nice on me, but it seems I just burn them up.

    O

O smelled like artificial cherry flavoring mixed with vanilla gone stale. It reminded me of the time I got *ehm* intimate with some cake. It wasn't a nice experience. All my family also made it known that they didn't think O was very pleasant. Nice, perhaps, for other people, but not for us. And the scent never morphed in interesting ways, either. I guess it just isn't for me.

    Snake Oil

Snake oil is attractive, but slightly cool. It slithers across your skin, more viscous in texture than many perfumes. As it coils itself around your wrist, it fascinates with its hint of danger. There is definitely something of the snake to its smell. My daughter and I both recognized the unique smell of reptile scaliness in this oil. Very mysterious. Very, very serpentine. Not my favorite sensual blend, because I guess deep down I don't really want to smell like a reptile. But it's tricksy, and I think I'll keep it around for a while.

    Baba Yaga

Opening Baba Yaga is like stumbling across her house in the woods. It's redolent with the scent of a hundred old spells and dry bones in the yard. There is a hint of the old woman within, but she's not really showing herself yet. Then, as it settles in on the skin, like Vasilisa the Wise coming to live with the witch, you suddenly get the smell of chicken! (yes, CHICKEN) It's a lot like the smell of chicken boullion. The chicken feet get up and start whirling the house, as their smell and the spicy dust compete for attention. Suddenly, it all settles down and the witch is there in full force. Her scent is a classic cologne, well aged. It's almost too strong for me (ylang-ylang?), and makes me a bit headachey. The witch stays for quite some time. Then she retreats back into her house, leaving her scent behind. But now Vasilisa is holding the skull-light, full of the wisdom and memory of her apprenticeship with Baba Yaga. Eventually, all that is left is a well-blended musky sweetness, the realization that you are now the witch, with special powers all your own. All the scents are there, just lighter, faded, and very nicely blended. I highly recommend this scent journey, especially if the story of Vasilisa resonates with you.

Okay, I placed my paypal order on Friday, but I have no confirmation that BPAL received it. How do I know if they got it or not? Thanks, I don't want to miss my red moon!

    Days of the Week BPAL

I'm interested in having a favorite BPAL for each day of the week. Sunday is the day of the Sun. Hence, its perfume should be warm, bright, life-giving, and healthful. Any ideas? What would the perfect Monday scent be? Monday is the Moon's day. It's scent should be mysterious, intuitive, fuzzy or foggy, and feminine. Tuesday is a day for getting things done! Ruled by Mars, Tuesday should have an aggressive, fierce, masculine scent. One that keeps you moving forward and helps you perform great deeds. Wednesday is Odin's day. It's a day for tricksters, glib tongues, and swift changes. What BPALS are best suited for wearing on Wednesdays? Thor's Day. Expansive, encompassing. A day for big things and openness. How could I best embody the spirit of this day with BPAL? Friday is always a day for families and friends and lovers. Love, in all its myriad forms. What BPALS make you feel most loving? O, golly, how could I forget Saturday? What BPAL scents embody the spirit of Saturday?

    Crow Moon

This is my first Moon blend. Oh my! I smell it from the bottle, and I'm enchanted. When I put it on, I smell minty cool clean whiteness. It's snow! Very crisp and pristine, with, perhaps, animal tracks in it. Oh lovely! I am enchanted, walking in the woods with the tall black trees and the fresh white snow. It's so pure, so snow-sparkly. Later, much later, there's a bit of a thaw and a warming as the coolest notes melt down. It's still very sacred quiet, but it's a little more violet now. The crows are coming out and cawing, perhaps. I am completely enchanted by the Crow Moon. If this is what Lunacies are...! This is a new favorite scent! It also stays on my skin truer and longer than any other BPAL I've tried so far. Ohhhh, joyful! But one thing this perfume is not - it is not sexy in the slightest. It's a very sacred and holy high perfume.

    Silentium Amoris

If I put this on my feet, I could say that my feet smell like roses! This is not a heavy, cloying rose, but the sweet scent of those climbing roses with simple petals. I am finding that I enjoy the scent of roses! I used to not like roses, because they were so overdone as a flower - but having only my nose to rely on, I find I'm very fond of them. On the drydown - all of a sudden, the perfume is going from sweet, lively roses to rose soap. Augh! It does smell like my grandma's bathroom now. No, this is so not right! It's not okay with me for fresh wild roses to turn into granny's soap dish. I think this will have to be a room scent, and not one for wearing since on my skin it makes me mad. Aaaannndd... The rose is coming back for a second show, but powdery this time. Softer and sweeter. Like petals in a pillow, muffled somehow. Now Faerygirl is telling me she likes it on me. Did I judge it too hastily, too harshly? This second rose is somehow nostalgic of the first, and kindof sad and forgiving. Hmmm... This scent is living up to its name and inspiration - full sweet love, the bitterness when it all turns to soap, and then the softer memory of what came before. Dang it, another awesome scent adventure! Even if I don't like it as a personal perfume, I love these trippy scent stories Beth's babies keep bringing me. (Faerygirl, age 8, review) This is what it is like: It smelled like a rose garden on me and then it smelled like the really gross soap. It still smells like it, even though I tried to wash it off!

    Days of the Week BPAL

We need more ideas! What if there's a note I have trouble with in one of these suggestions? We need a big fat list for each day, so that everyone can scent their days of the week panties that the Trading Post is going to offer soon...er, right?

    Polyhymnia

This scent reminds me very much of the process of writing. At first, the Muse hits you in the face with her smack of lemony inspiration. It's lemon balm, which I recognize from my garden. You cannot sleep with the smell of fresh lemon balm assaulting your nose. Just like waking up in the night and not being able to sleep until you write down your thoughts. After a while, the lemon balm leaves off its working on you, and the more subtle odors appear. There is sweetness, like the gentle flow of words when one is really into writing. That good feeling you have immediately after. And finally, there is the pungent tang of spices, of regret, of wishing what you wrote could even come close to the beauty that possessed you when you were writing. It makes you want to taste that feeling again. While not my choice for a personal perfume, I will definitely use Polyhymnia again when I am writing. Last night, it even inspired a dream about writing. I wrote about a unique setting, which I still remembered when I woke up and immediately wrote down. Good stuff, that Polyhymnia.

    Eternal

Eternal is very flowery, indeed. It's like being suffocated with funeral bouquets, if you like that sort of thing. It smells like Hawaiian flowers but without the smell of the sea I associate with Hawaii. It does last a long time, with a lot of "throw". Unfortunately, I'd rather smell like something other than the deafening sweetness of cloying petals. 'Tis a very airy perfume.

    Loviatar

I am obviously not a Mistress of Torment. The smell is overpowering, enough to make me nauseated. There's got to be patchouli in this somewhere. It definitely does smell like a Dark Goddess. Defintely NOT for me! It did smell rather exciting in the bottle, though. I have to add in some more. I tried this on my hubby, too. It smelled like the historical re-enactment I went to last year - smoke and leather and outdoorsy maleness. It was quite evocative. But it didn't really smell like my hubby or our style of love. Nice, but not really him.
  16. Baghdad takes you places. In my case, places I very much want to go! It smells wonderful on both my lover and me.

    Goneril

Okay, this is a crazy morphing scent on me. The first thing I notice when I put it on is GERANIUM! I'm not particularly fond of the scent of geranium. Then it shifts into something green and wet, getting soapier. The cedarwood starts humming, which makes it smell even cleaner. It's kindof sporty at this stage. Finally, a mysterious floral residue is left on my skin. It's a clean, soapy, sweet smell. At this point, I'm not really sure what to think. It's not an immediate favorite, but it is certainly an interesting experience. I do like this last scent, which has remained a little while. But it's crazy. I think that's the final verdict. Goneril makes me feel crazy. It's a healthful sort of crazy, though. Perhaps this is the right perfume for a sports nut. (Faerygirl's review) This is a perfume to wear when you go to the bathroom, 'cause it smells like SOAP!

    Baghdad

Baghdad makes me feel feline, langourous, and lovely. It's Indiana Jones laying me down on the above-mentioned incense chest, which is large and covered with a red and gold cloth. It's lying about warm and luxurious afterwards. It's desert pleasure, the inside of a rich Bedouin tent, spice and welcoming shelter. The surprising life of a desert sietch (think the Fremen strongholds on Dune). I cannot wait to try this out on my husband, who does not get home until Sunday. Mmmmrroww! (a Faerygirl, age 8, review) I don't like Baghdad!! It doesn't smell right on me. My mom is strange with it. She went around meowing like a cat!

    Days of the Week BPAL

Well, I'm looking forward to imping some of these recommendations, but I think I need more to choose from for individual days... I see Sol is up on ebay - should I bid on it for Sunday? And Saturday - what might suit it? I do think that perhaps Death from the Tarot collection (by description, anyway) would be perfect for Wednesday. Too bad the Tarots are going to be leaving us soon! I wanted to try some, but didn't have the spending money for the imp collection. Ah well.

    CCNow or PayPal

Okay, I'm just confused. I guess I was assuming that the lab's link was what they wanted people to order from. It is the easiest, just to click and have it counted in a basket. Is there any way we could get the links to change, if PayPal is preferred? I know I'm just a lazy butt, but it gets complicated to open up all those windows to connect to PayPal. But I will try to change my ways with my next order.
  22. I wrote a review of Hamadryad that tells how perfectly it suits my 8 year old daughter. It is really fae-like on her, while on me, it's too sharp. I'm finding that BPAL makes for a wonderful mother-daughter experience!

    Persephone

I think this is a perfect perfume for communing with the Goddess. It smells ultra-feminine, sweet and yet mature. Loving and yet dark. Perfect for Persephone in her role as Queen of the Underworld. And since Persephone is a patron goddess of mine, I will treasure this scent for those times I wish to connect with her and draw upon her powers.

    Scherezade

A master storyteller who possessed unfailing courage and compassion, a sharp, quick wit, and a true understanding of human nature. Saffron and Middle Eastern spices swirled through sensual red musk. On me, Scheherazade smelled like too much patchouli. I can't stand it. On my friend who loves patchouli... This friend, who is reserved and self contained became ultra sexy! She smelled like someone mysterious and seductive whom you would want to take to bed and spend all night pleasuring. It was amazing, since this lady, of all my friends, is the shyest and most private of the crew when it comes to sexuality. I loved it on her and she loved it, too. I gave her the imp, and I hope she wears it often!

    Zephyr

True to its namesake, Zephyr was light and didn't last very long. It reminds me of gentle summer breezes, pleasant and uplifting, but swiftly gone. I've worn it a few times when I was feeling blithe. It's a good scent for that.
