    Dragon's Milk

at first, i was dismayed as all i smelled, once again, was flowers--that same super sweet flower smell that nearly everything morphs into on my skin (stupid flower smelling skin!!!) and cough drops but as it dried, it stopped smelling so cough droppy and started getting sort of luscious and creamy and cherry pie filling-esque which i liked. I think I like this one! I don't think i will buy a big bottle, but my imp will be used! edit: about forty minutes later, it is still fragrant but seems to have morphed into a baby powder smell...however, it is really pretty still. it is not the nasty, Secret deodorant that I associate with P.E. hell at high school....it smells creamy and pure and delightful..and almost reminds me of my cabbage patch kid from when i was little (I loved the way good ole Kelly Beth smelled!) Edit: because two days later, I am utterly in love with this and fell asleep last night, with my wrist in face:) must get a big bottle. funny how that is, isn't. Eta (again): It's funny how things change...I LOVE this scent now--I don't wear it often because I don't want to cheapen it, lol. And I don't think it smells anything like baby powder anymore. I think it is amazing--it is what I wanted Alice to be--innocent, sweet, and a little weird. I have this one blue sundress that is almost aqua that I like to wear Dragon's Milk with for some reason. I feel angelic wearing this scent.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

Malediction in the imp is super reminiscent of Tramp, my loveliest shower gel...though it is a little less...green than Tramp. People have said that it smells like the Middle Earth soap, but I think it smells more like Tramp--Middle Earth seemed somehow creamier than this...however, I haven't tried it on my skin yet, so we'll see.

    Bliss

yummy mc yum. this smells like i should drink it. in the imp, the chocolate smells creamy but on me it is a bit more...brownie-like...and a bit muskier...I likes and think it would be pretty sweet layered with something, like the above poster said. And it has lasted on me a bit longer than the others I have tried! Hurray for chocolate!

    Alice

In the imp: light carnations and baby powder.... On me: light carnations, baby powder/ amber and a wee whiff or roses...not much else because it didn't last long on me at all... this fragrance is a pale shell pink to me, and I wish it smelled yummier on me, as I love Alice in Wonderland and am tickled by the idea of an alice perfume. It does smell a little like Lush's Potion. I smell it and I literally imagine a dainty carnation in the palest pink. t's pretty and I will try it in my scent locket when I get it in the mail, but I think it isn't for me--it might go into the I Love My Niece pile...where all good florals go to live a better life than they would with me... edit: tried wearing it today and it became Secret deodorant on me:( Scent locket, when will you come to me???

    White Rabbit

i get white flowers, maybe a wisp of ginger, I think honey making everything sweet, and the linen must be the soapy (in a good way) smell that keeps it from being cloying..i don't get any tea at all, unless maybe it is honey chamomile tea....I was hoping for something that smelled a little, erm, tea-ier, if you know what I mean, but it certainly is pretty. I might keep or might give to the niece-y, who is pining for the Mad Tea Party fragrances... ADDED June 14: in the imp and my locket: nestea ice tea, lemon flavored--sweet, zingy, mellow + some kind of flowery tinge On my skin: the same, but a bit soapy and it goes away instantly. It's pretty, but I don't know that it will get much use from me...it seems a bit too...innocent on me, maybe--I think i like warmer, muskier, earthier smells. Also, this (and Alice and Aglaea) have this weird quality where I can almost taste them in the back of my mouth...not in a good way, like an inky paper way....

    Slobbering Pine

Dewy, wet, whiplike and sticky. in the imp and on: pine cleaner...I like pine scents, but I like it when they have this sort of apple-y undertone, like a Christmas tree.... as it dries: smells like a men's deodorant on a guy who has been sweating a little. Not in a bo sort of way, more in a manly way--reminds of hugging a big, strong, man and getting a whif of his deodorant and it seems...personal..... Not bad, but not for me...def. improves upon drying, though.

    Follow Me Boy

A houdoun recipe dating back almost 150 years. This blend is favored by prostitutes, exotic dancers and others in the sex industry for its power to attract, seduce, and enthrall. Ensures financial gain and increased profits. In the bottle, I thought--oh no gardenia! I think my body must lurve gardenia because it goes nuts on me. Unfortunately, I can't handle it unless my nose is in a gardenia... On my left ankle (seems to be the best place to try the really strong florals!) I think it is actually Jasmine, because it reminds me of walking at my work, where there are jasmines growing in the planters...it also reminds me tuberoses, lilies, plumerias and honeysuckles....and I think it mixed with what I am wearing on my wrists, because in the air I smell jelly doughnuts;) Not getting any civet issues here. Again, another floral that doesn't seem to work on me--it is just...too...Jasmine-y for me. Weird because I love real flowers! Again, i am going to pass this one around. It's not for me, but probably would smell pretty if I could get any lemon out of it.

La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente

first impression is of a fruit punch-y smell...a good one, not Hawaiian punch or something, but.... on me, it smells mostly flowery, but not in an overwhelming, OMG FLOWERS! way that usually happens to me. a little fruity, but I can't distinguish any particulars--I wish i could smell the fruit a bit more. These smell like a warm group of posies--not blood red, and not pure white, but pinks and lavenders and yellows and blues all mixed up together. I like to smell a little more...earthy than this, but I think it would be perfect for someone who likes florals...

What do bottles and labels look like?

The Mad Tea Party labels look like the regular General Catalog Labels with the white background shown here top row right thanks...i didn't know only the le ones had pictoral labels--newbie-ness;) That's a good thing, because then I might be tempted to buy all of the Alice line, unsniffed, just to have the bottles!

    Venice

imp--super flowery in that sickly sweet way I can't wear--I think I am getting the jasmine and water lily smell...I though gardenias maybe, but they weren't in there (still learning!) wet--thankfully, I smell lemony goodness, toning down the flowers dry down---the soap smell I have heard so much about..a nice soap, but soap nonetheless. This one is moving into my share with friends and family pile. edited for neff's input****my niece, who I am dragging into my new addiction with me, was wearing it this morning. It smelled nice on her, but she thought it smelled like cleaning supplies.

    Viola

I am just starting to figure out what works for me and what doesn't...and I am afraid rose does not work well with my chemistry...or maybe it works too well? In the bottle, I just smelled sweet flowers--I thought maybe a bit of violet, but that might have been the lilac/ lily combo. On me--it's a more wearable version of that Tea Rose perfume my mom bought me in 9th grade from the local drugstore, with maybe a bit of a powdery scent....it's pretty, but not me. I like the smell of real roses, I just have never smelt a rose perfume that smelled real...I want to try more bpal rosies, but I think I will avoid the tea rose

    Hollywood Babylon

in the bottle: blech. cherry cough syrup. wet: strawberry incense and baby powder dry down: strawberry incense from that summer after I graduated highschool, listening to Mazzy Star. It's nicer on than in the bottle, but I doubt I would ever wear it. It's just not something I would want me or my home to smell like, though the trip down memory lane was nice. It reminds me of a hippie-esque gift shop smell...I guess I will let my cousin try this one:)

    Xiuhtecuhtli

First review, first Bpal scent: At first, it smelled like clove-y oranges to me, which bummed me out as I was hoping it would, indeed, smell like Thierry Mugler's Angel...though it didn't smell like it, there was something that sort of reminded me of it--maybe the copal? I think Angel has that in it, as well. As it dried, it smelled like orange blossoms and vanilla with a tiny tinge of smokiness. My skin, as usual, sucked it all up (I do that with makeup too--gone in an hour, sucked into my face) and now I am left with a faint vanilla-y smell. Overall, it reminds me of vanilla ice cream and bonnie belle's Orange Blossom Toner, but a little more full and earthy. (I didn't get any plumeria out of it.) edited to add--today when I wore it, I asked my niece's opinion and she told me it smelled like Angel...also, today I noticed a slightly aquatic note that reminded me vaguely of my first bottle of nice perfume, Escape, that I could never wear because it exploded on my skin and overwhelmed me. Needless to say, this is just the tiniest bit of ocean-y goodness without going overboard. It is stronger in the bowl of sea glass I put some drops into to keep my bed. This will be my first bottle purchase!

Campfires, bonfires, fireplaces, burning wood and leaves...

oooo goody--I am glad to see this thread. I have always always always wanted something that smells like a cold morning camping in the mountains of Utah....sort of forest-y, autumnal and like a fireplace....i will have to check some of these out, and maybe layer some things, too....apples always remind me of those camping trips, too, so maybe some appley goodness... I wouldn't really wear it, I would probably use it as a home scent, though...
