i like it, but it smells so much like Imp on me...like Imp's brother, or something...

    Dian's Bud

i also got a cucumber/ melon ish scent from this--and pear glace from victoria's secret, but a natural, non cloying version...it this were a color, it would be a light lavender and a fresh pale grass green. I was told my the woman in the leasing office at my apt that it smelled really good and clean--clean yet musky. then she forced me to pay 500 dollars for a cat deposit, lol. maybe i should buy her a bottle when i move out to ensure i get the deposit back?

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

was that the periwinkle colored one or the light blue? I remember, years ago, I had both dreams and heaven and loved both of them. anyways, the one with the X in my signature icons reminds me of one of those gap perfumes--the more I wear it, the more it smells like it to me...

    Osun

I smell honey, marshmallow candies, jasmine or lilies, and ylang ylang (usually I don't like ylang ylang, but this smells nice). Actually, I have Pink Sugar on my arm from Sephora earlier today and they smell somewhat similar--if there were a citrus/ tart edge to osun, they would be very similar, indeed, at least on me...for some reason, it reminds me of muse, too. I am not sure I would go out of my way to buy Osun, but if it came to me via swap or something, I would be pleased to own it....I know it is supposed to be about passion, but it smells snuggly to me--a nice bed time scent.

    Belle Époque

on me, this smells like generic department store perfume which makes me sad. I don't get anything from it at all:( I wish I did because I like the idea of this perfume and have heard such great things.

    Thirteen (13): July 2007

I like this. A lot. At first, and in the bottle, I got that weird scratch and sniff chocolate smell that I always get from chocolate perfumes...that faded to a real, milky, pretty choco. Then these sort of fruity clovey notes started coming through--and it smelled like Turkish Delight or christmas, in a good way. Doesn't clash with the weather, because I am from So Cal, lol. Then, it started to go soapy on me, for a bit. Luckily that ceased and what I got was pure delight. Really! This perfume smells gorgeous on me! I finally get what people mean when they say something "sings" on them! Candy Butcher reminds me of dark bittersweet chocolate with a blue smell underneath. This reminds me of milk chocolate with a rosy red gleaming through--there is that same, non foody smell shining through the foodiness that makes me love this! I might have to search for some more bottles and stock up!!! ETA: I can't wear this anymore:( Sadly, on the way to Comic-con last summer, I got a horrific migraine headache. It wasn't from 13, but I was wearing it in my scent locket and now the smell makes me nauseated.

    Imp

Like a peachy-berry snake oil-ish delight... I love this one! It lasted longer than the usual, and the final lingering smell was a nice earthy sort of patchouli-esque scent that clung to me. Mmmmmm. this will def. be a big bottle!

    The Lion

I wanted to like Lion, I really did. It sounded great, but on me....it has a sort of...obscene smell. A little too earthy, i guess. Which is odd, because I love amber and resin-y smells. I think I will put it away a while and try it once more before i put it on swaps.

    Red Moon 2007

Very very pretty in the bottle, and i didn't mind it on me, thought it wasn't my favorite....but it reminded me vaguely of something I couldn't place.... and then I placed it and it was a deal breaker for me--it smells like dog shampoo on me. Probably because whatever shampoo we used had some natural essences in it to drive fleas away, but I felt like I took a flea bath. My niece confirmed that, yes, I smelled like Archie. Sigh. It seemed so promising, lovely, warm and deep, but oh well..

    The Candy Butcher 2006

I like my imp of Candy Butcher; it smells totally original to me. Sure, at first, you get chocolate--but as it dries, there is this totally different undercurrent. The poster before me mentioned florals, but to me it just seemed really clean and blue...in fact, if this perfume was a color, it would a rich chocolatey brown and a mellow aqua blue--a color combo I personally love:) I am all about getting me some Candy Butcher!

    Fairy Market

In the bottle--fresh cantaloupe and sweet flowers, almost too sweet for me...but pretty. On my mom's arm--a mellow and sweet cantaloupe smell...very bright and sunny, not at all dark. I am going to make a lotion for my mom. On my arm, the incense shows its head and dirties up the sweet quality...if on my mom, it is sunshine and flower in the bright noon sun, on me it is starting to turn to dusk at the fairy market and the more odd folk are starting to turn up... ETA: all dried and sitting there for a while, this reminds me a lot of Tresor by Lancome as well as the smell that a completely dried Posset's Fireflies has...it is pretty but in the end, it was too perfume-ish and too sweet for me. And it has already found a nice new home:)

    Urania

wet on the skin it smelled promising...sort of secret and whispery and almost violet-y... but totally dry, it smells soapy and doesn't do anything for me... But the description is really pretty!

    Ouija

for a second, I thought I got Ophelia and Ouija mixed up...I don't smell any roses here, which is odd for my rose amping skin. I actually smell...mustiness and then a sort of a clean alcohol smell--sorta like the cucumber gimlet I had at this russian styled bar i went to on my friend's b-day....then, a teensy bit of rose and a wee bit of body odor (which is what wood notes sometimes smell liek on me, I am coming to learn!) Then it sort of drifts into the territory of just a perfume-y smell.... swaps, it is, then!

    Ophelia

Ophelia, one of my favorite characters and one of my favorite subjects in Pre-Raphaelite art... Sadly, all I get is rose. It is a bearable rose--because it is white, not tea rose, but I can't imagine ever wanting to smell like this... Get thee to a swappery!!!

What would be a Regency-type scent?

I tend to match my scent to the outfit I am wearing, and Dorian would seem to go with the regency clothing style to me--I would feel very at home wearing Dorian in a lovely Jane Austen styled dress... Anything simple and floral, too, I would imagine...and lavender-y or violet maybe the White Rabbit or Unicorn, too...even Dormouse...

    Goneril

beautiful in the imp--i love geranium...very pretty, sort of woodsy and different. On me: Oh Dear God. Under the prettiness, there is this horrible smell that is a combination of rampant body odor and a Taco Bell bean and cheese burrito with onions. combined with a glandular odor and pencil shavings. I think it's the cedar and it is horrific on me. This is the first scent that has smelled downright WRONG on me. it reminds me of this origins cedar lip pencil that i had that my male friend said smelled....funky, we'll put it that way. Shudder. It's a pity, in the imp I thought this would smell nicely but sigh....such is life. At least I am pretty certain that cedar is a scent for me to avoid!

    Quince Candle from Henri Bendel

I just ordered one of the candles on ebay... but it's nice to know that it is still on the bigelow site--the candles aren't on the BBW site anymore...I have tried the quince lotion--it's a great handcream but smells more citrus-y as I remember... I have smelled Cupid, and it is lush but not anything like the candle....I already have Tamora on my wish list, so I will add the others to my list, too! I don't really smell peach or sandalwood in the candle--I can't explain what it smells like, although I wish I could. it is sooooooo yummy...like what the inside of a pink and gold sunset cloud would smell like in a fairytale....

    Quince Candle from Henri Bendel

I bought the Henri Bendel Quince candle on sale the other day--I guess it is going to be discontinued--but it is to die for! I love it. I was wondering if anyone knew any scent, bpal or elsewhere, that smells remotely like this? I have no idea if it really smells like quince, so hopefully some of you have already smelled this.... They have diffusers left at BBW, so I think I am going to have to buy some!

    Hermia

prettier wet than dry, on me, as juicy floral notes seem to disappear...but still nice...except, i get this odd nutty note that pops in and fades out and i have no idea what it could be...hmmm I am going to wear this today, but I don't see this being in my regular rotation--I like things a little smoother more serene and this is def. not a smooth, calm scent--it seems emotional and passionate.

    Shub-Niggurath

Oh I love this. It smells like gingersnaps...sort of slightly foodie, but just a nice cozy warm smell. However, right now my cleavage is burning! agggggh! something in this is reacting badly to my scotch-irish freckle skin and I am in pain:( What to do? I guess this can only go on my wrists, crook of my arm and ankles, as those areas aren't engulfed in a gorgeous smelling paincloud.

    Eat Me

wet, this is waaay too buttery-cakey for me--like a cake scented candle...it's mmmmm, but i wouldn't want to smell like it--waaaay too buttery.... However, quickly, it tones down to a sweeter, less seductive/ incense-y Snake Oil, with a wee wisp of jam underneath, though I might be imagining that. I like it. It will go on my list-I think my Snake Oil might be a bit much for days where I am in close quarters, and I won't have to put this on as sparingly...but it won't be first on my list...
  24. willowtreeling

    The Dormouse

wet--a teensy bit fruity--like apricots or apples or figs, but mixed with a green smell dry--very fresh and green and herby and a wee bit shampoo-y but in a nice way....i feel very clean in this one! Sadly, the scent is gone within minutes! stupid scent eating skin...it always does that to the ones i love.... i guess i will just love my imp and not go for a bottle:)

    Dorian

a lovely wonderful gorgeous one. lemony milky sugary black tea...mmmmm....with a tiny bit of powdered donuts. this does not morph much on me and I loooove it. I am going to have to buy a bottle of this, but must be good....and wait until summer is over and I get monthly paychecks again.
