    Coyote

In the Imp (wet): All musk and wood. Hmmm... On me: This one lasted me through most of the day without re-application and kept me perky. A good thing in my books. I catch a hint of sweet grass, a herb I used to stock for purification ritual, which I love the smell of. And the warmth in this one is soothing, clinging to me and is slightly more masculine than most scents I would wear, but a beautiful scent all the same. May be worth getting a bottle of.

    Nemesis

In the Imp (wet): I get the ginger and probably patchouli. Not liking it one bit. On facial cotton (dry): The sweeter notes are making an appearance, but it's still not convincing me. On me: There's something very acidic and antique about the scent on me. Sort of old attic lady that is definitely not me. On the dry-down, the rose gets stronger, but still very old lady.

    Thalia

In the Imp (wet): Yummy juicy sweet Chinese pear and what smells like the tiniest hint of almond. On me: There's this juicyness that drives me crazy with happiness. It reminds me of standing on a porch with a glass of white wine, looking over full fruit orchards on a chilly evening. It's a lovely day scent for the weekend or just hanging out. Unfortunately it tickles my nose if applied early in the morning. An annoying aspect, but tolerable.

    Mouse's Long and Sad Tale

In the Imp (wet): The amber and sandalwood. All of it. Very heady. On me: The amber and scandalwood are the first notes, but it's the vanilla with the staying power. It is the rich thick fresh vanilla scent you get straight of a pod and reduce down with syrup, not the chemical essence nonsense you get at a baking shop. Very yummy. It reduces down to the sweet pea and the headiness of the sandalwood, but very sweet without being headache-inducing.

    The Queen of Hearts

In the Imp (wet): A DROP of cherry?! More like a whole basket of them. Not that I'm complaining, mind. There seems to be a hint of almond as well. On facial cotton (dry): Cherry takes a backseat, while the lilies take centrestage. Sweet without being overpowering. Very wistful and feminine. On me: Cherry starts off good and strong, but not for long. The lily doesn't take long to catch up. In fact, it's one of the loveliest floral lilies I've tried. It's wonderfully dignified and very feminine. Unfortunately it reminds me of cheap soaps. Had hoped the cherry would stick around longer. Doesn't have much staying power and needed re-application after 2 hours.

    White Rabbit

In the Imp (wet): The crispness of the white pepper tames the sweetness of vanilla, but it's a really nice soft scent. On facial cotton (dry): There's only the slightest hint of ginger, which keeps this scent interesting. Very crisp and fresh, which I definitely like. On me: I amp the pepper, which is not a bad thing. The honey and vanilla keep any sharpness in check. The vanilla is not as strong as the Mouse's Long Sad Tale, but still very much there. And the fresh towels, still warm from the press is comforting.

    Jabberwocky

In the Imp (wet): A shockingly fresh scent. Reminds me of walking through a forest after a good long rain. On me: It's a dizzy combination of freshness. The pine is strong, but tamed by the subtleness of the orange, whose tartyness controlled by the fullness of eucalyptus, whose detergent overwhelm-iness was subdued by the pine. It's probably not something I'd wear on a daily basis, but it'll be good for a pick-me-up.

    The Dormouse

In the Imp (wet): I smell florals rather than the tea. How strange. On facial cotton (dry): The green tea is more predominant and there's almost a creamy sweetness. On me: Tea tea tea! Black tea, jasmine tea, green tea. On the dry down, I amp the herbs, but it's much lighter than the Unicorn. And the peony softens the scent as well. This scent really does conjure up a tiny furry dormouse, curled up on a bed of sweet dry hay in sweet slumber.

    The Unicorn

In the Imp (wet): White. All white bright and sweet and refreshing. On facial cotton (dry): The sweetness is light and floral. Not as bright as in the imp, but still refreshing. On me: I amp the herbs, which I don't mind at all. My skin chemistry doesn't make the scent as bright. On the drydown, it smells a little soapy on me. Might need to test for longer staying power.

    Le Serpent Qui Danse

In the Imp (wet): There's a bit of a freshness to this one. It's still a sweet floral, but nowhere as sickly. On me: The vanilla doesn't hit as strongly and lasts a fair bit longer than the other floral scents.

    Eos

The Rising Sun. She is Ostara, Easter, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of fertility and the dawn. She is a protector and friend to all children. Her scent is that of softly glowing skin, jasmine, buttercup and honeysuckle. In the Imp (wet): Old lady. Really decaying old lady. On me: Urgh, soap. Sickly sweet soap.
  12. nightchild80

    Kitsune-Tsuki

In the Imp (wet): Oh, I love this one already. The florals are night blossom sweet. On me: Initially this scent made me feel quite bimbo-ish (don't ask me why). But as it morphs, the orchid and plum are strong, and lasts fairly longer than most other floral scents. Not quite what I expected.

    Khajuraho

In the Imp (wet): I smell yummy fermented date palm, dusky roses and just the tiniest hint of the vanilla. On facial cotton (dry):The white sandalwood and florals are a lot stronger, but where's the vanilla and rose gone? It makes its appearance as the scent dries down. On me: There's a richness about this one. The rose and vanilla make up the sweetness, but the sandalwood and amber lend their warmth, making this scent quite a lovely concoction. This one is ALL woman.

    Olokun

In the Imp (wet): This imp is full to the brim! Had a little trouble opening it without spilling. Its sweetness is like fresh cut grass after the rain. On facial cotton (dry): The sweetness is filling out and is refreshing, which I think may be pear or maybe lily. Green comes to mind without hesitation, but there's no gloom. On me: My skin is bringing forth the salt in the scent, giving it the ocean aquatic overtone. But the sweetness still carries through. Far less aquatic than Tempest.

    Thanatopsis

I got an imp of this from my first newbie pack. In the Imp (wet): Pine heads out first and juniper soon after. Really sharp on the nose. On facial cotton (dry): Juniper comes out first. Pine seems to be hiding. The sweetness of the musk only makes its first appearance after 5 mins and only if you cautiously sniff it lightly. Any hard sniffing and the juniper comes round to hit you on the head. On me: My skin amps the musk and it's coming off like a thick molasses sweetness. Unfortunately, it's bordering on the sickeningly sweet scent of 'snake' powder (something my mum made us use when we had chicken pox). I am having no luck on the woods and musks...

    Shanghai

In the Imp (wet): Oh, this floral sweetness is perfect. Not sickeningly sweet, but soft and still has that clean airy freshness I am beginning to fall in love with On facial cotton (dry): I swoon! I looooove the delicate floral scent. It reminds me of Jennifer Lopez's Still, but less overpowering. And the green tea note makes the fragrance refreshing. On me: Green tea!!! With sweet honey! Gosh, I'm drooling. The lemon note has more staying power, but sweetness trails after like a faithful dog. I've put it on at work, but it seems to disappear quite quickly and I couldn't catch a whiff of it it by lunchtime. Which is disappointing and I'm wondering if it should be slathered on instead (I'm a dabber). ADDED 5/27/08: In the Imp (wet): Oh, this floral sweetness is perfect. The lemon note has more staying power, but sweetness trails after like a faithful dog. This one is a keeper and I would definitely consider getting a 5ml bottle of this.

    Burial

In the Imp (wet): I get a distinctive nutty flavour in this. Patchouli is definitely there and juniper is really strong. On facial cotton (dry): Urgh, it smells like antiseptic. Not surprising since patchouli oil is known for its fungicidal properties. The wood notes are an undercurrent. On me: The antiseptic scent is strong on the first whiff, before the woods come out. Juniper all the way too. It's really warm, but definitely not for me. ADDED 5/27/08: In the Imp (wet): I get a distinctive nutty flavour in this. Patchouli is definitely there and I unfortunately mentally associate it with medicinal properties from studying herbs. On facial cotton (dry): Urgh, it seems like antiseptic. Not surprising since patchouli oil is known for its fungicidal properties. The wood notes are an undercurrent. On me: Definately not for me. The antiseptic scent is strong on the first whiff, before the woods come out... but it's pine and I'm not much of a pine fan.

    Tempest

In the Imp (wet): Very unisex. Reminds me a little of Old Spice with lemon. Citrusy and really fresh. On facial cotton (dry): I like how crispy it is, but it's reminding me of air freshner. If I smell it further away, the notes are much softer and I get more florals. Spring comes to mind. On me: My skin seems to amp the light floral notes. Not sure if that's a good thing. Lemon comes out too, but much more gently. It reminds me of a salty sea breeze. Another scent I might try to wear to work, since this is fairly strong.

    Blood Pearl

In the Imp (wet): I smell the musk, but it seems to have a spice note in it. And I get the tiniest hint of liquorice. Not a good sign. On facial cotton (dry): Ooooo! The coconut is showing up, but it's refreshing, rather than the heavy cream I was expecting. On me: I like how the musk is soft and the coconut gives it a twist and a little life. However, this scent may give me a headache if worn in excess and a drop seems to go a long way. This one has me a little stumped.

    Nine Mysteries

In the Imp (wet): This is another warm one. This has a sharper attack, which I think is mint. It reminds me of Vicks Vaporub and hits the nose in the same way. But there's a note that brings to mind the thick juicy citrus fruits hidding just behind that. On facial cotton (dry): Really interesting. It smells so different from the imp. A heavy fruity note is taking lead, which sinks in 10 mins to reveal a much lighter refreshing fruit. Certainly not what I was expecting. On me: Starts off with the mintiness, but isn't as bitingly sharp as in the imp. It smells really crisp instead, and that ebbs down in about 3 minutes to begin the juicy notes and a tiny hint of (maybe) lavendar. It's actually quite yummy and I'm tempted to bite my own arm off now. I think this will be a great scent when in need a pick-me-up.

    The Lion

In the Imp (wet): The first scent that strikes is a tarty wave of spice. The warmth of amber comes in smooth right after and leaves this soothing warmth in my chest. On facial cotton (dry): Shoot! The first mental image that hit me was Little India's incense shops. It mellows out, but I cannot shake off that whiff of back-of-the-shop incense. I think it's the amber. On me: Damn damn damn, it was screaming Little India for the first 10 mins. Guess this is where it's 'ferocious'. It does fade off and offer this mental image of a slumbering lion. After 15 mins, the scent lingers into a sweet spicyness, which is interesting and I would've liked that note to have more prominence, but it's very soft. Not for me at all.

    Dirty

In the Imp (wet): Oh my, this one is rich and velvety. Dark and musky, yet fresh and clean. Like a candlelit bedroom of plump pillows and silken ropes, just after the chambermaid has laid out the freshly pressed sheets and fluffed out new feather pillows. I like! On facial cotton (dry): Why does this smell like clean laundry?! I can't help but think of long lines of fresh clean sheets and clothes hanging on a clothesline on a warm summer day. It's so crisp and clean. Not sweet and a little soapy. I almost hope it smells the same on my skin. On me: The soapy scent is dominant, mixed with a tinge of a white floral. I can't help smiling when I sniff that wrist, and am fighting an urge to go roll around in my bed. Think I will wear this to work, and see if it's a keeper.
