Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal

In the bottle: Mmm, foodie. Darker than I expected at first, almost coffee scented. On second whiff, it's fruitier, but still spicy. On, wet: Mmm, a juicier foodie scent than anything I have. There's some vanilla, and still something spicy, but it smells like fruit, too. Drying: Well, not so delish anymore. The lemon is out, and it's all I can smell besides a tiny bit of spice far, far in the background. Please get yummier! Dry: Barely there. A bit less lemon-y, with a whiff of cotton candy, and that spiciness in the background. A nice, light scent. I wish it was a little bit more like what's in the bottle...maybe in a scent locket? Hmm.
  2. So, I got a bottle of Cheshire Moon, and I ADORE the way it smells in the bottle. It's a nice scent on, but not what I wanted/expected. I'd like to layer something with Fire Pig to get a similar scent, but I can't think of anything that is just cream and that cakey smell... Any ideas?

    Cheshire Moon

In the bottle: Sweet, less tangy than I thought it would be. I'm getting a creamy smell, and a fruit, but I'm not sure which one. Not as green as I expected. On, wet: Ah, that's more like I expected. Greener, but still sweet. Juicy, like a lighter, softer version of Fire Pig. Drying: A little bit soapy...uh oh. Not as bad as rose goes, though. It still reminds me of Fire Pig. Dry: Nice, but a little bit more "floral" than I was haping for. Definitely soapy. A few hours later: Soft, barely there. Creamier, which is nice. I might layer it with a tiny bit of Fire Pig to get the juicyness back.

    Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge

In the bottle: Cream, something warm and light-brown smelling - the amber?, and a light, woody smell - the teak. A hint of vanilla? It reminds me of Monsterbait: Underpants. On, wet: Less cream, and the teak smells less warm and a little bit bitter. There is something green about it - probably the lotus. I hope it sweetens up a little bit and gets warmer... Drying: It's getting less bitter and mellowing out, but the cream/sweet scent has all but disappeared. Dry: Strong than when it was drying, it's still green, which isn't necessarily my favorite, but it's nice. Not as sweet as I hoped it would be (I'm an uber foodie, lol), but it's a nice, light change from my normal foodie scents. A good foodie scent for spring or summer when you don't want to be overwhelming.

    Sugar-Slathered Candied Apple

In the bottle: Sickeningly sweet caramel. Like, so sweet it makes me want to gag. Wet: Apples! Gorgeous, crisp, sweet red apples, with the barest hint of caramel. Oooh. Dry: The caramel is back, but it's a soft, gentle caramel. There's also something almost waxy about the caramel scent. Still some apple, but less than before ( ) It's lovely, and I'll definitely be wearing it. Creepy is definitely more apple-y on me, and a little bit buttery. I might layer them and see what happens.

    Monster Bait: Underpants

In the imp: Sweet, woody (almost smoky), and definitely boozy. On, wet: Mmm, desert. Someone's smoking a ciagr, but far, far away. No booziness now, which is a relief because it was seriously almost pure booze in the imp. Drying: Vanilla and wood. Warm and sexy. Final Verdict: This is delicious, and a more 'mature' Monsterbait than Bloody Mary. I'll definitely use the imp.

    Glitter

I was lucky enough to have found an imp of this after hearing so many great things about it. In the imp: Pear bubblegum. Something like champagne, too. Wet: Oh, wow. Sweet pears and something like cotton candy, but not as sickly sweet. Delicious. Dry: This is like a less-sweet version of what I thought it would be. Pale pear-flavored cotton candy. Final Verdict: I'll definitely be using my imp. I wish I could get a bottle!

    Monster Bait: biggerCritters

I got my bottle of biggerCritters this morning and couldn't resist testing it. In the bottle: Hello, warm vanilla. Much deeper and warmer than I expected it to smell - I was thinking lighter and fluffier. Some grapefruit and jasmine in there too, but barely. Wet: The vanilla is still there, but the grapefruit is showing up now. There's a floral aspect to it too, but if you didn't know it was jasmine and gardenia you probably wouldn't be able to pick them out. Drying: Still not as 'fluffy' as I expected it to be - not as sweet or light, I guess. It's still lovely, though. Very soft and warm, and kind of fuzzy (that's like fluffy's cousin, right?). Warm vanilla, but light enough that it's not overwhelming, with a bit of a floral backdrop. The grapefruit pretty much went . Final Verdict: I'm glad I got a bottle - I'll definitelu be wearing it. Sweet without being foody or fruity or heavy, which most of my favorites are.

    Red Lantern

In the imp: Spicy and golden. Definitely a bit of the caramel and tiny bit of coconut, as well as some of the tobacco. For some reason, this reminds me of Queen Alice. I hope the amber doesn't go powdery on me. *fingers crossed* Wet: Mmm, dark spices and caramel, something sweet and somehow sinister at the same time. I'm glad the tobacco isn't more prominent - it's just enough to give the scent a bit of smoke without smelling like I smoke three packs a day . I'm suprised at how much I like this. Drying: Sweeter and softer now, and a bit lighter too - I think the amber is making it lighter without getting powdery. I can still smell the caramel, but it's like caramel that's behind abunch of other stuff, so that you can smell it and it sweetens the scent, but it doesn't overpower anything or get too sweet. Dry: Arg, there's definitely some powder now, and the tobacco is more noticable, but it's still nice overall. I wish the caramel and the spices had stuck around more obviously. Final Verdict: A bit incensey for my tastes, without actually smelling like incense . I'll use my imp, but even if it wasn't LE I don't think I'd buy more. Edited because I can't spell. At all.

    New Orleans

In the imp: Lightly citrus, almost like a very light cleaning product of some kind, with the faintest whiff of florals. Wet: Oh, there are the jasmine and honeysuckle. I'm suprised that the lemon is practically missing now. Oh...wait...spices. Hmm, I dont know how I feel about the combination of the spices with these florals. There's something almost rotten about it - I guess that's the decay? Drying: Yeah, weirdly rotting flowers and something spicy. No lemon to be seen. Final verdict: This is so not something I would wear - it's just a strange combo to me. Definitely a swapper.

    Versailles

In the imp: Roses and a little bit of jasmine. I hope the amber and roses don't go powdery on me, but I'm sure they will. Wet: Pale roses and something lightly bitter, like a very pale amber - to me, this is very light yellow in color, not dark red at all. The citrus is probably adding to the light feeling of this as well. Drying: A light citrus (probably lemon) with a bit of powdery rose. It's not sour, but there's something bitter about it, underneath the main scents. Final Verdict: It smells (like many rose blends on me) like a very nicely scneted baby powder. Darnit. Swap pile.

    Blood Kiss

In the imp: A little bit of vanilla, bot mostly something darker, a bit musky, and kind of boozy. Wet: This reminds me of O (probably just because I just tried O as well), in that it's got the same musky honey and vanilla, with more vanilla on me than O had. This is darker and deeper, though, and not as sweet as I expected. It's almost smokey - that's probably the cloves. Drying: Yummy, but darkly so. Still not what I expected (I expected something slightly lighter and maybe sweeter), but nice. It softens a little bit with time and mellows out. Final Verdict: I'll use my imp, definitely, and may order more eventually. It's like a darker, almost evil version of O, if that makes sense.

    Delirium

After reading the notes in Delirium again, I'm really hoping the rose doesn't go powdery on me in this one. I'm really hoping for apples and a bit of lemon. In the imp: LEMON. A tiny bit of rose and something that could be apples. Wet: Lemony and fresh - there's a juicyness to it that obviously from the apples, but I can't really smell the apples themselves. It smells a bit like a cleaning product. Drying: It actually smells like lemony roses! This is suprising to me because normally I can't actually smell rose in any of the oils I've tried - I just get baby powder. Lemony roses aren't necessarily a good thing, though - and it definitely smells weird on me. Final Verdict: So not what I was looking for. Swaps pile it is.

    O

So, when I first got O I tested it with the notes in front of me, and it went powdery on me - I'm thinking its the amber. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and trying it again. In the imp: Sweet and slightly incensey. Wet: Sweeter now - definitely honey and something kind of musky. No vanilla in sight, but no powde is happening just yet. Drying: It's muskier now, and I can see what people mean by saying is has a post-coital kind of smell. Not as powdery on me as I remember, but not as sweet or feminine as I wanted it to be. Final Verdict: Not what I expected or hoped for - I'll have to check the bf's reaction to it and maybe test it again sometime. ETA: This definitely smells much better one me after about 15 minutes - it's wamr and soft, like a honey body powder (but less sweet than the honey body powder I have from Urban Decay). Definitely a keeper.

    Queen Alice

In the imp: Light florals and toffe, with something definitively inky smelling beneath it all. Wet: It smells so god, but I can't place any individual smells - definitely flowers and something sweet and oody, but also in a light way. Something bitterly boozy as well. I need to get better at identifying notes Drying: The notes are becoming even more indistinct - it's pretty much just a sweet floral, now. Final Verdict: The bf says that it smells like any Yankee Candle, and I understand, because it's a pretty indistinct floral on me, which happens with a lot of florals. I wish the toffee was a bit more pronunced. I'll keep and use my imp, but I don't think I'll buy more.

    Carnal

When I got my latest BPAL package, one of the imps had a leak and the box smelled divine...The imp is almost empty, and after I smelled it I wanted to cry. I'm testing it now so that I can decided if I need to order more asap, lol. In the imp: Before I had the notes in front of me, it just smelled sweet and deep and delicious. It's the same now - juicy and wonderful in a similar way to my dearest Fire Pig, but deeper and warmer. Wet: Oh deliciousness. Warm, sweet mandarin, with the fig warming it up and making the scent nice and full. Drying: The bf says it's a little strong, but I don't mind that as most smells dissappear quite quickly on me. I'm loving this smell. It's like the more mature (and sexier) older sister of Fire Pig. Final verdict: I lovelovelove this scent. A definite bottle purchase.

    Black Pearl

I didn't have the notes in front of me when I tested this, so all I was looking for was coconut. I decided to test it again today and add more info to my test notes. today's added notes are in purple. In the imp: Coconut, but not a wamr coconut like I expected - definitely cool temperature-wise. I can smell some white musk today, but no hazlenut. Wet: Nice, but less coconut than I expected and again, cooler. The bf says cucumber - I don't smell that at all. Coconut and a bit of hazlenut, now. Better than yesterday's test. Something kind of powdery is happening - either the musk or the florals. Stupid chemistry turns everything to powder on me. Drying: Loosing the coconut, darnit. The coconut faded a bit, but it's still there chillaxing with the hazlenut. Final verdict: I'll use the imp, but I was looking for something warmer and more tropical. I'll definitely try it again after it ages a bit to see if anything changes. My crazy BF says it smells like a "really fancy Mounds bar," which I actually understand.

    Lolita

In the imp: Pepper. WTF? Wet: Oranges, yesss. Where did these oranges come from out of that pepper? No cherry lollipops yet. But there is a candy-like element to it. Drying: Orange candies and orange oil. I know this smell, but I can't place it. Still no cherries, but I on't really mind. There's a teeny tiny bit of something darker underneath. Final verdict: I will definitely use my imp, and I may order more in the future - it's juicy and sweet and lovely. It does smell young, but I am young, so I don't mind.

    Cheshire Cat

In the imp: Grapefruit and lavender and something sweet and fruity. Wet: Ooh, very elegant, soft grapefruit, a teeny bit of lavender, and possibly currant? Drying: Very soft and light, fruity without being too sweet and foral without being too overpowering. Really nice. Final verdict: Not what I expected, but still lovely. The Cheshire Cat is my favorite character (literary and film) of all time, so to be able to wear a blend with his name on it is awesome. I'll probably get a bottle.

    Twilight

In the imp: Lavender and something yelow smelling - the honeysuckle, maybe? Wet: Lavender, but not an overpowering aromatherapy lavender - a soft warm lavender. Mmm. Definitely relaxing. Drying: It's got a bit of a powdery smell on me, but florals tend to do that to me. Also, my nose is doing something weird, so I might have to give this one another shot later on. Final Verdict: Yeah, my nose is messed up. I'll try it again later.

    R'lyeh

In the imp: Sweet and aquatic-y, with a bit of a pine smell. No grapefruit yet. On, wet: A guess they're a bit of a citrus smell, but no definite grapefruit to me. Still a bit pine-y and I'm getting a kind of dark aquatic smell that I expected. Why does it sound like I'm the crazy one? Drying: It's kind of hard for me to smell, but it's making my nose tingle, which is kind of bizarre. Final Verdict: This is not working for me, but I'm sure it's nice on other people, lol. Silly chemistry. Swaps it is!
  22. captainoats

    Bilquis

In the imp: Honey and musk and something bitter. Let's hope the almonds and rose behave themselves. On, wet: Musky honeyed almonds, with some apple. No, no apple...the rose is coming...oh lord. Drying: Getting powdery...but a very sweet, decadent powder. I actually kind of like it. Final verdict: Musky, sweet powder. I don't know how I feel about it. If it didn't have the rose or the musk I think my chemistry would like it better, but I may use the imp up.

    Desdemona

Innocent, soft and pure: sweet pea, carnation and water lily. In the imp: Very clean and fresh - I'm worried it's going to go straight to powder on my skin. On, wet: More fresh in a green way than most of the scents that have smelled 'clean' to me so far...definitely a watery smell too. Drying: Ack, something is going weird on me skin...someone else said it smelled like a porta-potty deoderizer, and that's kind of how I feel right now. Final Verdict: Soap. Darnit. How did I know? Off to the swaps. Edited to add description.

    Moxie

My bottle of Moxie came today, so I had to review it! In the bottle: Orange zest! Mmm. Bright and happy! On, wet: A big, bright orange, fresh and juicy, peel and all. Drying: A perfect juicy, fresh orange, just cut and ready to eat. The zest of the orange keeps it from getting to sweet. I can smell a little bit of candied ginger, too. Dry: Delicious and wonderful! Final Verdict: I've been looking for an orange scent, and while this is not the orange scent I was looking for, it is amazing, and I will definitely be ordering another bottle.
  25. captainoats

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

In the imp: Oh man... Sweet and buttery and creamy, with a sweet and tangy pink candy smell. It's literally making me drool. On, wet: Something creamy and vanilla and lovely with that same pink cherry candy underneath. Drying: It's still beautiful, but softer and slightly less foody now, which wasn't what I was expecting. It's actually a light, wearable scent. The liquor is coming out a teeny bit as well. Dry: This is still really nice, but not as strong as I had hoped - it's definitely a soft one on me. It's like cherry pez behind some fluffy vanilla somethings. I know that made no sense, but it made sense to me, haha. The tartness of the cherries and the slight liquor scent keeps it from being too sweet. Final Verdict: I am so glad I ordered a big bottle of this from the lab - I can't wait for it to come so I can douse myself in it. ETA: I've now had two people tell me I smell like cotton candy, and a third tell me I reminded her of her cotton candy scented My Little Pony from childhood. So...cherry cotton candy it is!
