In imp and wet on arm, the piney eucalyptus is instantly noticeable--but the orange softens it, making a really neat blend. I never would have picked this one based on the notes. but it is very nice! I could go for a bottle someday.

In imp, strongly incensey, reminding me of All Souls 06 which is one of my faves.

 

On arm wet, a bitter note like what Delirium mentioned above. After a couple of minutes, a green smell emerges similar to what AliBabble described, and after a couple more, a floral. This is such a neat complex scent. Wonder what it'll do in a few minutes more...I'll be back to update. lol

 

ETA--5 minutes or so later, the honey bursts forth and sweetens all in its path. There's something just a bit powdery in the background, not sure what. All in all this is very nice. Me likee. I can haz bottle.

In the imp, warm and very incensey. On me, sandalwood comes out quickly. My skin must amp that note as I have noticed this with other scents that contain it. Thankfully, I love it. At last a Poe that loves me too.

Such sadness, this didn't work on me. There were so many notes I love, like amber and vanilla and orange, but red musk is the kiss O death for me. And it and the rose (and my skin is very particular about BPAL roses) danced together and did unpleasant things. So I must continue to search for a Poe that works for me.

I was beginning to despair--snakes and I just have not gotten along. I haven't found 1 in the Snake Pit that works for me. But I wangled an imp of SC to check out the fuss, and is it yummy. Dark and sexy, the fruit and musk notes blend so well. It's what I wished several other scents I've tried before would have been on me. Now I guess I will hoard my 2 teeny imps and pray for a resurrection.

I swapped for this. Opened the bottle and squealed "CK1!!". It really reminds me of that, with a simllar crisp bright sort-of-androgynous but without going totally guy. The herbs and mint and overall clean smell muscle out any aquatic notes, which is great because aquatics are not my friends. It's November as I write, and this is going in a nice safe place til next summer when it will rock.

Something about this kept reminding me of All Souls 06, which I love. I couldn't really put a finger on what til I read Silverstrike's review just above me there. It's currant!

 

This is a sweet scent without being too foody on me. I think I need a bottle.

In the imp, a green note really caught my attention first. I thought 'oh no, this isn't gonna work on me'. But after a few minutes on, the floral and incensey notes came out to play, and oh my, this is goooood. Must have a bottle or two. Or three. hehe

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but does anyone else pronounce "BPAL" like "Bee-pal"? I hate spelling out acronyms and Bee-pall is easier to say, but I'll feel like an idiot if no one else calls it that. :-P

SNOW WHITE

(2005 version)

 

Snow White has a dreamy, cold, white quality to it. It smells like flurries of snow, coconut, ice cream, a bit of milk and honey, and cold slush. It's comforting and brings to mind a still, silent forest that's covered in a blanket of snow. The florals in this are understated and no single one jumps out at me. Overall, this is simply stunning. It's truly a work of art.

Yeah, that. Superb description. That's absolutely what I get from the tester I was gifted with, the hints of coconut and honey, but not overpowering; the nice blend of florals; and the breath of cool air. Amazing, really. I only hope the upcoming vintage is like this. (or maybe I shouldn't hope that, because my credit card will cry. I'll have to have a couple of bottles. At least.)

I dressed up as a gypsy, took my Tarot cards to work, and wore Mme Moriarty. Sort of an homage to Beth on her wedding day, as well as going with my fortune-teller motif.

I'm another for whom DoA and October were pretty nassssty, but who loves Samhain. The spices and hint of smoke are wonderful.

 

As for other scents mentioned: Shub is probably my absolute all time fave BPAL as well. Pumpkin 1 and 3 are too sweet for me, but 2 is great, and 4 and 5 are nice. I think 4 smells most like Jack to me. I like Jack though it is kind of sweet, but what I like to do is layer it with other things. It's very nice with the sandalwood of Anne Bonny, and with the amber of Haunted, it's what I wished Pumpkin Queen to be.

Pumpkin I reminded me a lot of Purple Phoenix--I guess it's the grapes.

Pumpkin II - I don't know why tobacco notes work so well on me when I hate smoking but this is my favorite punkie.

Pumpkin III - too chocolatey for me--foody smells and I don't get along.

Pumpkin IV - agree with the poster who mentioned the green notes; they make this one a little sharper than I like.

Pumpkin V - the ginger gives this one a nice kick on me.

 

Overall II is my fave, with V second, and IV third.

Working on enabling a co worker--she gave me an empty bottle of a scent Wild Oats used to sell called Wildscents Warmth. The label says it has/d notes of vanilla and sandalwood. She says she has tried mixing the 2 fragrance oils but hasn't been able to reproduce the perfume. Anybody ever smell this, or have any ideas?

Add me to the bottle pile for the cat! How can I resist "dead/alive" checkboxes!? Too cute!

I got my bottle today, and I am so happy I chose this one out of all the Weenies to buy a full 5 ml of. It is amazing. Spicy and smoky and slightly sweet. Wonderfully fallish. After I get my buttload of decants of other Weenies and decide if I want more of any of them, I may have to get myself another bottle of Samhain too. It's flove, I tell ya.

I get the citrus first too! Nice and not cleaning-product smelling . And a bare whiff of the mint. I'm afraid it may not last on me...here's hoping otherwise.

Not what I expected either! I got an imp just out of curiosity, positive that not one of the notes would work on me...and by dern, the blend is marvy. Just sneaks up and takes ya prisoner. [/bad metaphor] The tonka and rum are the main notes on me, but not in a boozy way, more a pleasantly spicy-sweet way. Very nice.

I got a sniffie of this frimped in a swap, took a whif and said 'nah, foody, foody baaad for Dixie' and put it away in the swap box. Then last weekend while the Halloweenie update stalking party was going on, I pulled it out and coaxed enough scent to put on my wrist. OMGWTFBBQ. The pumpkin and peach are so nicely balanced by the spices that I CAN ACTUALLY WEAR IT. And love it. I just ordered an imp to be sure it isn't a fluke, but this may end up being a go-to scent for autumn. Right now I am me some Jack.

This one's reputation precedes it. In the imp it is indeed seriously foody. And foody scents and I don't get along at all, so I only dabbed a bit on cuz it's a sniffie circle, right, and I have to review. Taking one for the team, I go in.

 

On my arm, oddly enough, it was very nice! I got a strong hint of caramel and/or honey, I think. Not as much of the fruity thing as some people have reported. If it were an LE I could get hold of, I might just want to own an imp or 2. It's a foody I could conceivably wear. Not one I'll and yearn for, though.

In the imp, white flowers, but I don't get the jasmine! And I love jasmine. I was so looking forward to it. Oh well. I dab on anyway.

 

On the arm, still nice white flowers. Very light. Doesn't last long on me in fact. This makes my paypal account happy.

In the imp, slightly foody, which turns me off, but hey, it's the only chance I'm ever likely to have to smell it, so I bravely dab some on anyway.

 

On me, spicy floral notes start to come out. Almost carnation-y, but without the weird greenish ick that carnation scents often turn on my skin.

 

This is really the only C13 I wouldn't mind owning some of, especially if it lasted longer on me.

In the imp, a little floral, a little more woodsy. Lovely blending.

 

On me, SANDALWOOD. Very pleasant, but not nearly as much so as my dear GC gurrlfriend Anne Bonny. I won't be selling off first edition Stephen Kings to buy this. If you get a chance to smell it though, I do recoomend you do, as it really is nice.

In the imp, lightly sweet and floral. On arm, that lasts about 3 minutes before it turns to pure baby powder. Wah! Fortunately, I have a friend who adores baby powder scent...this goes to her when I see her in a coupla weeks.

Somehow when reading about this I missed the ginger mention, despite the fact that the ginger element of Vixen is part of what makes it one of my absolute faves. I got a sniffie in a swap, with a few drops in the bottom. I sniffed the imp, went 'beh' and set it aside. Last weekend going thru my storage I found it and dabbed a bit on...and 30 minutes later I was desperately trolling the swap forum looking for more, because it ROCKED. The ginger blending with spice and resin worked so well on me, not foody at all, a good thing since foody and I don't speak, and lasted all evening! (have you ever tried to type with one hand while the other wrist is glued to your nose?...well, ok, around here, maybe people have. ) I didn't get any green, just the warm dark stuff. GUH. Yummy. Mine!! The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young is my friend.
