  1. When I got this straight out of the mailbox, when the bottle was still all hot and bothered, I opened it and the scent bloomed from the bottle in a cloud of humid atmospheric heat. Like the hot sun on a cool lake. It was a really unique experience! Now that the waters have calmed I still love the scent, but I actually think I'll bring this along with me to the beach to try to capture that hot vapory feeling again.

  2. Oh my Gd! I am so glad I came back to BPAL after my hiatus! I don't have words for this right now. It's just beautiful and complex and slightly magical.. There's a menthol-ish spike to it that's maybe the opium lemon combo, and it get's a little buttery from the coconut and musk I think. I'm just floored.

  3. Well, this is a winner for sure. Totally did not expect this to be a bottle purchase, because others describe it as commercial, and commercial-smelling Bpals haven't worked for me before. But this is the feminine-leaning androgynous scent I've been searching for in all the unisex commercial colognes I've tried to make work for me. I'm excited to send this one to my aunt as well, who got me into unisex clean perfumes from the get go. She will love this, maybe even more than me! I'm not sensing citrus from this, just shiny mineral bright.

  4. I like this. It's a unique watery floral. You can smell the fir in the distance, which makes it kind of weird and cool and personal.. because it takes close-up sniffs to catch the fir. The ocean water is a tad bit salty and smooth and turquoise. It's making quite an impression on me even though it's not a favorite thus far, only because there's a sweetness that I personally am not fond of. Others who like sweet perfumes might love this.

  5. To me this is an exact dupe for Soda Pop incense, in the displays at stores where you pick your own incense sticks and bag them yourself. The soda pop scent is one of the glittery sticks, turquoise and glittery I think. Anyway Schrodinger's Cat is a deadringer for it. I've looked through all the reviews and no one has mentioned this yet! It's so spot on!

I'm not getting plastic from this, and I'm sensitive to scents turning that way. To me this is a sparkling grape and amaretto/almond, with a deeper spiced plum on the drydown, but still fresh, not like potpourri. First BPAL I've tried that I can see using specifically for going out.

  7. I would say as far as advice for a newbie, that my experience when I first began ordering was buying too many un-imp-able General Catalog scents, which ended up not working for me, and I became resentful for wasting my money (a lot of money) and being consistently disappointed. That being said, when I first started, I was really most into the stranger more evocative blends, which are always a gamble. At the time I was intimidated by the decant circles and sales on the forum and only bought directly from the lab. I now know this was a big mistake as far as testing scents before buying big bottles. So my advice would be to try out things for cheap before investing in blind bottle purchases! The forum sales are not in the least bit scary once you get into it, and I find everyone on this site to be extremely sweet and caring : )

  8. Similar to Undertow, but whereas Undertow is a little weird, and a little off, Olokun is perfectly wearable. More marine than aquatic. Fresh with depth. Love this one.
