    Vice

...Man, I just keep not lucking out with my BPAL orders. Thank goodness for imp packs --at least I get to keep trying different things. Anyhow, I was looking forward to Vice immensely. Chocolate and cherry? SO THERE. In the bottle: Unfortunately...in the imp, Vice smells like a two-year old cherry Jolly Rancher that has been hiding behind the radiator for quite some time and is now a sticky, gooey mess, coupled with an old mashed cheap chocolate liquor. But hey, most of BPAL smells funny to me in the bottle/imp, so I figured I might as well give it a go on my skin! Wet: Poof! It disappears. Nothing. Not even the plasticky whiff of Jolly Ranchers. Dry: Er, well, there's nowhere to 'dry down' from nothing, is there? Maybe in an hour or two it'll perk up? *presses nose to wrists desperately* I've never had a scent just completely vanish one me. Aw, man....I was so excited for this one too.

    Hades

I ordered this as an imp in conjunction with Persephone, because I've always loved the myth of Persephone. Contrary to most of my experiences, this was one oil that smelled awful in the bottle but blossomed on my skin. I have no idea what notes I'm amping up and playing down, all I know is it's a warm, sultry scent on me that is pleasantly masculine without being exclusively male. Layering a bit of Persephone over Hades softens the mix ever so slightly to create a heavenly scent for me, but that could just be me and my obsession for the myth.

    Persephone

I got this because I've always loved Persephone's story, and I couldn't resist. That said, pomegranates aren't my favorite fruit at all. I've tried that Pom drink, and it's just not for me. But I figured it might be different as a smell, so I gave it the ol' college try! Anyhow, this goes on my skin a very solid rose with a sour tang that I assume is the pomegranate. Eventually the rose dominates, leaving only a slightly sour tang at the edges. Sadly, not for me. I like it much better once layered with Hades.

    Delphi

Frimp from the lab with my very first order! In the imp: *crinkle nose* It smells like a typical new age store three hours after a customer with strong perfume has left. On me: I don't know what's in it, but it definitely smells like herbal medicine and a kick of something else. Verdict: Not for me, nope.

    White Light

I was looking forward to testing the effects of White Light, so just before I hopped into bed last night, I anointed my chakras with the stick end of a half of a q-tip (no wasting in the cotton here!), and rubbed the remainder of the oil on the stick onto a wisdom tooth I'd had yanked out a year or so ago. (The TAL website recommended a personal symbol of some sort --I figure a tooth that should have snapped in half but came out of my mouth whole worked just fine.) Immediately, and I mean immediately, I felt lighter. No, my stress hadn't dissipated, nor had all my burdens been lifted off my shoulders. It was more like I was a snake with a freshly sloughed off layer of skin. I felt completely relaxed, and as I was going to sleep decided to make shapes with my hands. I giggled at one of my more obscene creations and then slept like a baby. Normally in the mornings I'm tired physically, emotionally, and mentally. This morning I was tired physically, but the rest of me was calm and happy, and I wasn't even tempted to roll over and go back to sleep. Tempted to sleep, yes, but more to snuggle in my blankets than out of a desire to not face the waking world. All I can say is this works well.

    Block Buster

I bought this because I have a lot of mental and emotional blocks that I'm trying to work through. I received my package yesterday and thought I'd give it a test run. I put this on shortly after I showered last night, no specific goal in mind. I sat down to continue reading a book on HTML, and I felt the oddest sensation -like I was looking out my eyeballs from a skewed angle in my skull about 15 degrees to the left. Not entirely sure what that means, but that's all right. Perhaps preparing me to change my perceptions? I'll update with further results at another time.

    Fae

My first BPAL scent ever! In the bottle: Sweet, ladylike, with a hint of something citrus-y. On me: ....*sigh* I smell like a little old lady in a home. The citrus is gone, and I think it's the white musk (not so good with notes) that is overwhelming.
