    Masquerade

To me, the ambergris note stands out the most, as it gives the scent a velvet-y feel. The orange notes make it a bit more high-pitched and dry.

    Absinthe

I can't comment on the likeness of the scent and the beverage, as absinthe is illegal in this country (yes, smoking weed/hash is (more or less) legal here. Absinthe isn't. No, it doesn't make sense to me either). When it first goes on, it's fresh and lemony, with a hint of licorice. When it dries down, the anise becomes more apparent, and the overall feel of the scent is fresh and bitter. It's a fast-fader, too.

How much does it cost to ship internationally?

I just came up with another question: What is the maximum amount of items that the flat rate + $4 would cover (for huge big-ass orders)? I presume that if the number of items is exceptionally big, we would have to email for shipping?

Where can I find reviews of the BPAL scents?

On the main page, under 'reviews'. Scents are grouped under the same categories the lab uses. HTH

    Velvet

The first moments on my skin this smells like straightforward chocolate. after half an hour or so the scent becomes a very dry chocolate, more like sandy cocoa powder. I don't really care for this phase of the scent. Even later, it becomes a sweet, vanilla-cocoa incense, which is pretty nice.

    Rosalind

For some reason there is a note in this that reminds me a lot of the ozone-scents: lightning, tempest. That'll be the grass then. The berry isn't very ponounced, but sweetens the ozone-note. I know I might attract some 'boo hiss' reactions for saying this, but the combination of sweet and ozone makes this one come closer to commercial perfumes than any other BPAL oil I've tried. That is not to say I don't like it: on a warm day it's lovely.

    The High Priestess

In the bottle this smelled like almonds and a touch of freshness, perhaps green herbs or mint. The green herbs come out more when I'm wearing it. It's very gentle, but it stays forever.

    Phobos

With the temperature hitting 30 for the first time in the year, I thought it would be a good idea to wear Phobos. It smells like a citrus fruit coctail. And afer a while...whoops, it's gone. Will have to try again when it's a bit cooler and scents don't fade so ridiculously fast.

    Sloth

I expected this to be dusty, but it isn't. Indolent is the perfect word for it. The blend is heavy and slow. It smells a bit like incense to me, very heady. I actually kind of like it. Not for every day, mind.

    Siren

This smelled in the vial like.... dare I say it?.... poo. That faded quickly on my skin, luckily. It's a very fruity sweet jasmine smell. Suddenly I remembered what it smelled of to me. It smelled like my grandmother's house, when we found her after she died. The house smelled different, as it was a very hot day (this was 13 years ago, by hte way). Thank goodness there are alcoholic wipes and strong scents like Gluttony. I really can't comment on the niceness of the scent, because I don't want to smell it because of the memory.

    A Little Lunacy

This is intriguing indeed. And perfect for European insomniacs who think impulse-buying will get them to sleep (ie me, occasionally)

The Mad Tea Party has some party-crashers...

They sound fabulous from their descriptions, as usual. Good luck with the move tomorrow!

    Ah, thank you so much!

    Dana O'Shee

Before ordering i was worried that the almond might put me off, as I disliked the almond note in Hellcat and Black Phoenix. Those two just smelled too sharp to me, but this is a beautiful, wonderfully gentle almond/marzipan note. Almost exactly like Lush' snowcake. Later on it becomes a yummy edible mix of grains, honey and milk. Lovely light scent. I think I'll wear this on days I don't want my scent to be intrusive.

    O

At first: a very sticky sweet honey/floral combo, almost sharp. mellows down to vanilla-but-not-quite. It does the same thing Snake oil does on my skin, but without the spicyness. It's a golden, warm scent, but sex? No, not for me. Sexy, definately. Edit: And this one lasts. 12 hours and it's still going strong.

Yes, what she said, but I didn't want to add to your workload either. But thanks so much!

    Ultraviolet

Big, orgasmic groan. I love Eucalyptus and minty smells, and the eucalyptus bites you hard and good in the beginning. Slowly the violet comes through and gets more prominent over time, but it's a chilly, icecold wind through a violet bush. I get an image of chewing on frozen violet leaves.

    Gluttony

Holy hell. I can feel endorfines racing when I sniff this. It starts buttery and creamy, with the darkest of chocolate. On the skin it is a true eatfest: as if you're stuffing bonbons that are way above your budget (and therefore should be enjoyed one after another in very small bites) in your mouth all at once. Coffee and a hint of cherries come out later, and the scent quitens down a bit.

    Crucible of Courage

A little soapy, with a bit of herbs that are a little sharp, but overall a soft smell. Will comment on effectiveness later. I have plenty of opportunities to test it, because Social Phobia + therapy in which you're encouraged to break the habit = scarey. ETA: I love this scent. It's very addictive in it's comforting way, and this has become one of my most used scents. Effectiveness? Well, I can't expect a blend to take away all my fears, can I? But I do notice that I can give myself that little 'C'mon, do it,'-push just a little bit easier when wearing this.

    Lust

Darn. i really wanted to like this, but I guess I have to use something else when I want to attack my boyfriend. In the vial it has a sour smell, and on there is one floral which stands out and SHOUTS at me. Add to that the patchouli (which I now know to avoid, as there is only one scent with patchouli that works on me and 6 that don't) and this is, sadly, one to use an alcoholic wipe on. Sorry

    Vice

Very, very chocolate-y at first on my skin, then the cherries hit back with a vengeance. After an hour or two, the chocolate is back, but more in it's dry, cocoapowder form. As a room scent, the smell is lush, buttery chocolate all the way.

    Am still here...

Thank you for the update, and enjoy your holiday. Get some well-deserved rest (hopefully the rest of the crew will be able to do that sometime too )

    Embalming Fluid

A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon. This one smells very similar to Kumiho. Kumiho is a bit more high-pitched and airy, and Embalming fluid leans a little more towards the lemon side. It's more grounded and stronger (or is that because I used a quarter of an imp? ). It's not too lemony though, I guess the tea gives it it's freshness.

    International order Q

I am still stunned at the idea of post(wo)men leaving parcels on your doorstep.... I worked as a postperson here and I would've gotten sacked if I did that.
