Phantom Queen, Dorian, and Black Opal have entered into my "bottle" inventory! (Dorian is a wonderful, wonderful thing to attack the male with; the other two are yummysmellies on me.) Bastet, Langour, and Emperyeal Mists are currently topping off my imp favorites.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

OH yay! I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been poring over what to wear myself (wedding's upcoming on the 27th of this month, at the same time as a move ). It's great to see what other people have in mind. I'm wavering between Phantom Queen, Living Flame, and Black Dahlia at the moment. (As wonderful and elegent as Dahlia is on me, the name isn't ... very appropriate for the occasion.) Moon Rose is also in the running, and Queen of Diamonds, although both are a little chillier than I'd like. My sweetie , who is more than patient about being assaulted with scents, is getting attacked with either Wilde or Dorian. (Probably Wilde during the day/at the ceremony and Dorian *chuckle* later in the evening )

    Horn of Plenty

In vial: tobacco and almond, with some unidentified very "juicy" note prominent. Just applied: Smokey almond. 5 minutes: Has morphed completely into the smell of fat pine kindling just beginning to burn--a lovely smokey woody smell, which is a suprise because pine scents usually smell horrible on me. Dry: The only way I can think to describe it is incredibly strange, but here it is: It smells, to me, like the horse arena in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Smells like the cedar chips and pine boards of the stalls, little bit of animal smell (not in an unpleasant way), little wisps of smoke drifting in from the BBQ outside, and the hot, sweet smell cotton candy from the vendors spinning it fresh (not the cloying old, prepacked kind.) It smells like a wonderful and beloved childhood memory, and it's incredibly comforting to me. edit: holy..... I used this oil (along with a couple others, including DDLM 2004) as part of a Samhain ritual a few days ago that I did with just a couple very, very close friends and my sweetie. Within 24 hours--after months of searching--he was offered the post-graudation job of his DREAMS. It pays incredibly well, fantastic benifits, and it's programming work that he's enthralled and fascinated with, instead of just "code monkeying". This was more than decidedly spooky.
  3. Any recommendations for a scent that's similar to my beloved, but discontinued, Shattered? I get mostly the mint and citrus notes in Shattered, on my skin, with champagne also present, but any lotus, floral, or aquatic notes completely absent.

    Shattered

Impressions: When I was 12 or 13, I fell in love with a Swarovski pendant at the Texas Rennfaire, and it became the most treasured goody that came home with me quite quickly. I felt like the pretty thing captured ME so perfectly it soon became my signature jewelry and I wore it daily for a good six or seven years until the bail loosened and the pendant fell and, well, shattered. I replaced the necklace about a year or so ago as part of a process of attempting to regain my identity and sense of self after a very stressful end to highschool and even greater stress and confusion during my first couple years of college. Since its been replaced, I've worn it continually unless I have an occasion that is too formal or businesslike to wear jewelry quite that simple. So for business occasions--such as job interviews--when I really need to be at my peak and completely sharp, confident, and together, I wear Shattered, and to me it smells the same way that pendant looks. (These are all photos of the single same crystal--the colors, patterns, and reflection shift and change with any little change to light or the slightest movement.) In the vial: 2/3 sharp, white mint and 1/3 a citrus note that's somewhere between lemon and grapefruit. Applied: Very little change. The citrus balances out until the mint and citrus each form about 1/2 of the scent. No sense of lotus or aquatic at all. Drydown: Although the scent still is largely unchanged, now the champagne has bubbled up enough to be present and bring some charisma and enthusiasm to the scent that could, previously, come across as stern, sharp, cold, solid, or unyielding. Over time: The initial sharpness fades quite quickly as the oil drys, and is gone within about 5 minutes as it's replaced by the slightly lighter, more complete version. Then Shattered stays exactly the same on me for several hours. I'll usually reapply once or twice during a normal business day. It starts to "seem" soft fairly quickly, but throws unexpectedly and very effectively, for quite some time, leaving intermittant wisps of scent all around. This is a 5 in my book. Of course I'm heartbroken that it's discontinued... I finally used up the last of my hoarded first imp today. I've managed to track down a second through the forums that's yet unused, but I'm going to be really devistated when I can't get my hands on any more of this.

    Phantom Queen

I ordered this in the first place because I'm a daughter of the Morrigan, so its ties to Her intrigued me. I was NOT disappointed. Wearing and smelling the scent, I feel the same kind of euphoric beauty and strength that I do during ritual-work with Her. The smell in the bottle is SO familiar to my nose, but for the life of me I cannot place it. On the wrist, it fades to slightly more floral, less green and herby, but is still delightful. It is one of the only floral scents I've been able to wear. Usually they make me feel insufferably girly and prissy and as out of place as a hair-bow on a pitt bull. This one just makes me feel beautiful, powerful, and sexy. It (along with Oneroi, which for some odd reason reminds me of a "male" version of Phantom Queen, even though they have nothing in common) will definately have an order for a large bottle placed in the near future.

    Oneiroi

Wow. I'm totally taken with this one. I'll second the "if Gaiman's Dream from Sandman had a smell it would be this." It's perfect. In the vial: lavendar and sandlewood, drowning out everything else. On the skin: This one doesn't even have a "wet" stage on me. It dries right up to where it stays. The sandalwood becomes fainter, and the jasmine comes out. It even smells like night-blooming jasmine instead of "regular" jasmine and that makes a difference in the scent to me. It has also been a very potent dream oil for me. It helps me fall asleep remarkably quickly, no small feat considering I've had chronic insomnia for years. And my case, it's given me a LACK of dreams, a true blessing seeing as most of the reason I never feel rested is because I have horrible, horrible nightmares. Wearing this oil to bed, and a little across my pillow, lets me sleep deep and dreamless enough to actually get some rest. I LOVE this, and a large bottle is DEFINATELY going to be part of my next order. The imp's alrready showing signs of being well-loved.

Wah! This was one of the oils I was most excited about in my order. In the bottle, it was just as stunning as promised. The smell hit me and nearly bowled me over. Excited, I put it on. It smelled good for about 10 minutes while drying. After that, (there is no further proof I am a child of the '80s), the only thing I could think of that it smelled EXACTLY like was one of those candy-scented-molded-into-the-plastic My Little Ponys, out of the really old scented line. While that's a fond smell with good memories, I can't say it's exactly the most arousing thing ever, and not something *I* want to smell like, since I can't get away with hair shades that neon. I actually had to wash it off before going out, and ended up puttingon Phantom Queen instead. I have since used it as a room oil, and I love it that way. It's a soothing, rich smell. I'll finish up the imp in the burner, but it was such a disappointment I won't order it again.
