  1. Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen.

Wet this is very sharp, but as it dries down it's the perfect soft tea and milk scent. I might have to get a bottle.

  2. I wanted to love this because the bottle art is just so, so beautiful. Unfortunately this is a tad too perfumey for me :( I think it's the orange, chypre and lavender combo that make this smell very sharp and fake, which is unfortunate because I can smell a beautiful apricot + amber combo underneath all that.

That being said, it's very elegant, just not my style.

  3. I've been testing what remains of my decant after breaking it in my own hands :( thankfully I had an empty vial I could decant the leftovers into fast.

I agree with the comparisons to Ava, but Pediophobia is less biting and sexy. If they were sisters I'd say this was the most innocent, cold and distant of the two. Wet, it's almost stony and when it warms up the beautiful combo of the vanilla + tobacco comes out. I said to myself I'd only get one Yule and this is the strongest contender so far!

  4. Wet, this seems very similar to Alan McMichael. It's very dry and almost.. a bit spicy? As someone mentioned above, it has a sandalwood incense vibe.

On the dry down this gets much sweeter and lasts longer on the than Alan. The finish is a beautiful light amber, followed by woods.

The art is beautiful, and this is the most effortless and "me" skin scent, so I'll be getting a backup before the Yules come down!

  5. Eeee, I'm spoiled with amazing suggestions! :blush2:

    SmilesSunshine All of those sound really great! I love Dorian, and the Bloodmilk collection has been on my radar. As for The Girl, if you've tried Ava how similar are those two? :think: Ava is a sweet floral to my nose with a splash of brattiness which I love. Fairy Market also sounds right up my alley, thank you! Haloes also has my attention, but it seems to have sold out ;_;

LizziesLuck I've actually just ordered De Vos, I have high hopes for it! I've never tried Antikythera and Tombstone, I'm definitely getting an imp next time together with O and Engine 93, so thank you :) weirdly I get no rum from Alan, just spicy clove + sandalwood. I wonder if you've tried the RPG bard and how similar the bay rum note is to Alan? D:

And I love Rapunzel! It's pretty much a signature scent for me in the summer :bunnyluv:

Celestia I just read some reviews on Pip, and yours has definitely scared me haha, I can't deal with nutty/buttery notes at all but I might get a tester just for the golden floral aspect of it! All of the others are getting on my tester list though, When the Stars are Weeping especially sounds so beautiful *.* thank you for all the lovely recs!

  6. Trying this a few hours after receiving the bottle in the mail. I know, I know.

While sniffing the bottle I can't really detect a lot of notes, it just smells incensey and mildly dusty.

As soon as I dab ST on my arm I immediately get a blast of the most amazing incense smoke. It smells exactly like an occult store, and it's so lovely.

As it begins to dry down, the amber comes out more and pretty soon for about an hour it's amber + a tiiiiiny amount of incense. Now, as it stands after 2 hours, it's an amazing mix of warm amber, woods, incense and the tiniest bit of leather, enough to keep the amber from being overly sweet. I am so glad I got a full bottle of this one, I can see it becoming my cold months staple!

  7. Not sure if this is the right place, but I didn't know where to ask. :blush2:

Me and my sister both play the piano + violin and I was wondering how many classical music scents has bpal done? I know the Tchaikovsky ones from the Nutcracker and then the Liszt Csardas Macabre from the MF. Am I missing something? Are there any more scents like this?

  8. Lettuce is probably one of my top three notes, weirdly. I love the fresh crisp greenness of it, and I was really hoping to get another heavy-on-the-lettuce scent.

On the bottle this is so yummy! Light florals + lettuce and a bit of sweetness, so far so good!

As soon as it settles on my skin the chocolate and coconut come out with the florals and at this stage TLU reminds me a not of Snow White - it's not bad but I don't love SW as I find it a bit cloying.

Thankfully, it dries down to a fresh, whimsical lettuce-y floral <3 I love it so damn much. I'm so happy to have a bottle, this is a magical faerie scent and I'll be wearing it a lot this summer. :wub3:

  9. In the vial this smells like marzipan.

    On the skin, marzipan.

After maybe half an hour, the marzipan single note has calmed a bit down, and I can maybe begin to smell a bit of the honey and the grains. I thought Dana O'Shee would smell a bit sweeter and calmer, but with the almond it definitely has a bite. It's a nice foodie scent though, and I can see myself using my imp.

  10. This is so pretty. It's very somber and light, dewy, aquatic and a bit salty. I would have to be in a very specific mood to wear this, but I do see myself reaching for it. I love the name and the description, and the perfume is very evocative.

Edited to add that I currently wear this quite a bit. It smells clean yet sorrowful, and very fresh. I love it and I'll be needing a bottle once my imp runs out.

  11. Love love love :bunnyluv: this patch is a lot gnarlier than the one on Banshee Beat for sure, but the coconut and benzoin really mellow it out nicely and boy does it WORK!

Goblin smells like a Goblin should, green, earthy, smoky and a tiny bit sweet!

  12. Oh wow. I thought I was going to hate this. After reading the description I was pretty convinced this would smell as bad to my nose as my nemesis, Blood Kiss. Thankfully a lovely forumite sent me a decant of this and wow... colour me impressed!

It does share some similarities with BK, which is fine by me in this case since it absolutely works. To my nose, this is the lovechild of a very well behaved BK and Dorian. I swear it must be the musk+vanilla. GOD. This is so deep and romantic and sexy. It just screams drama. It's not overly medicinal but there is definitely a bite underneath all the sweetness. I also daresay I love the almond here :wub3:

I finally get the hype and I'm definitely getting myself a bottle.

  13. In the imp this smells very warm, glowing and sweet.

Once it settles on my skin it doesn't morph much, but the sweetness backs off a little and gives way to a bit of smoke. This is one of those "your skin but better" smells and I love it. It lasts really long on me (even after a bath), and at the final stage this smells the same on my skin as the RPG Good.

I love it and I'm getting a bottle!

  14. 2016 version

After reading some reviews here I was scared, even as a spice lover, that this would be -too much- but SSV didn't strike me as too spicy or burning like I was fearing. Smelling it on the bottle, it's all dry, sweet cinnamon. I get the ground bark aspect of it, but the snake oil is missing both wet and in the bottle.

After a few hours the cinnamon and the ginger start to mellow out a little and more of the Snake Oil comes out, making the whole thing smell like sweet cinnamon cookies

I honestly don't know if I prefer the initial blast of spices or the mellowed out, sweet throw after a few hours. I couldn't choose! :bunnyluv: Either way I've been wearing this every other day because I simply cannot go without it anymore. It makes me feel badass but it's such a comfort scent as well and if anyone ever asks me what I'm wearing it has such a perfect name??

Saw Scaled Viper, I love you and you're going to be my forever smell <3

(Also, I feel like this and Alan McMichael are sister scents, with Alan being a bit drier and less sweet and SSV more complex and foodie.)

  15. This review isn't going to be very coherent because all I can think about when I smell my RR HG is ohhhhhhhhhmyyyyygoddddddddddd :bunnyluv: this hg feels like a warm blanket of cozy-ness for your hair, and if you have long hair like me this means you can smell like this FROM HEAD TO BUTT which is all I've ever wanted!!! it's even better than using a perfume oil!

Earthy, sweet, a bit dirty, comforting... I honestly want to bathe in this, sleep in (scented sheets of) this, and if I could eat it in a dessert I probably would. And honestly those of us who walk around with RR hairgloss are doing a favor to the world by spreading a cloud of it around wherever we go, the people NEED to see it's possible to smell this good!!! It's attainable!! The future is now.

  16. Just put on some BPAL Voodoo and had that "why does this smell familiar" moment, and on my skin (which can do weird things to bpal oils, so YMMV) it reminds me a lot of Lord of Misrule, for anyone still looking...

I got no LoM from Voodoo but the vetivert/almond/clove combo smells like a nightmare on me :( the only thing I've found is pretty much on the same family is the RR hairgloss, which is a lot less peppery and with the addition of hemp, but it still has the sweet+earthy, comforting thing going on :wub3:

  17. I was a bit worried with the Snow White comparisons, as I find it way too cloying and heavy. Luckily, Alan is none of that! On the bottle I smell mainly clove (?) but after drying a bit on my skin it settles down to a very spicy/woodsy/sort of sweet blend. It's not overly sweet though, and I can sort of smell something herbal hanging out in the background with the sandalwood, making it rugged and sexy. Oh, he's lovely :wub3:
