    Stargazing at Sea

Oh this is stunning! In the bottle I get a softly salty ocean air scent with the sweet pea mingling in gently. The words that keep coming to mind are soft and breezy. The sea spray notes are definitely at the forefront on my skin for the first half hour, salty but not intensely so. Aquatic and a bit mineraly, but the sweet pea really softens the scent and comes more in balance as it dries.

    Sugar Cookie Cathedral

To me this was the lightest of the sugar cookies I tried, at least in terms of white sugar vs brown sugar. It blends so well with the incense. Cozy sweet incense. If you love the cakes and incense combo of All Souls, this is for you.

    The Bear Prince

2021 Version. The fur is definitely the most prominent aspect for me the whole time, it's warm and musky and a little sweet. I find it hard to describe but my husband says it smells it smells exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I disagree but can also sort of see where he's coming from? I feel like I get an almond note in the fur. The snow is light and chilly and burns off of me within about a half hour, leaving a light rose haze on the fur.

    Ice Age Baton

In the bottle I get a delicious vanilla and cocoa combo with a bit of sweet tobacco underneath. On my skin the chalky notes come in and take it out of sweet gourmand territory. It's sort of dusty and has a mineral quality, and brings some cooler facets to the blend. The tobacco really blooms as it dries. It's dark and murky and makes me think of a cold cave but with the warmth and comfort of fire inside.

Just as the Clock Struck Twelve

In the bottle I get a rich cocoa backed by a dark, musky rose. On my skin it flips and I get more rose with a dusting of cocoa. The rose simmers down as it dries and allows the patch to peak out, it is a soft patch and blends beautifully with the cocoa for an earthy base. I can't pick out the ambrette seed or white musk specifically but I think they are adding to the warm musky thing going on. It has an old world glamour thing going on. It's very well blended, nothing really sticks out as the star. I wouldn't think of this as a 'rose' scent or a 'cocoa' scent. So glad I went for this one, I was waffling a bit but the 15 Minutes of Fume review sold me!

White Honey, Lemon Peel, and Salt

I just love idea of three simple, but incredibly different elements coming together. Salty, sweet, tart. It dries down to such a complex, gorgeous scent. In the bottle I get mostly salt and honey, with just a tiny bit of tart lemon peeking out. On my skin it's more sweet than salty, but this is a very light honey. Not ooey-gooey heavy honey, but lightly sweet and reminds me a bit of the skin musk note. The salt roughs it up just a bit and has this beachy vibe, it reminds me of sunscreen in the best way. Not like cloying coconut sunscreen (I love that too tbh) but maybe like the sunscreen your rich childfree aunt brought back from her trip to Capri. The lemon just adds some sparkle to the scent, especially as it dries down. It's sexy in a very pared down, lowkey and carefree kind of way.

    Nightlife Hair Gloss

Such a gorgeous gloss! In the bottle I get mostly a dark, heady orange blossom just like in Orange Blossom & Driftfood. There's a bit of slightly bitter citrus peel underneath. Sprayed I get the fresh crisp tea and more of the citrus musk and zest. Not a juicy sweet scent for sure, a slightly bitter, very grownup citrus. Very sensual. The orange blossom complements it all so well.

    Sunrise Kimono

In the bottle this is bright yet delicate, the citrus is fresh and a bit tart but not super bracing. I get lemon and grapefruit with a little bit of apple giving some sweetness underneath. On my skin the amber comes out giving a gorgeous warm base. The citrus notes have a sparkling sort of quality. The apple is present but difficult for me to pick out, it has a tartness that makes it blend well with the citrus notes. I think the mimosa is giving a fresh green-floral aspect to the blend. As it wears I pick up on the cedar but it blends well with the amber in the background. The scent is both fresh and warm and inviting.

    Mango-Infused Pumpkin Chai Latte

In the bottle I get syrupy mango and a bit of cinnamon. On my skin it's more spice-forward. The pumpkin blends with the mango and mellows it out, a smooth sweet-tart fruity base for the spices. Clove is the first I can detect with cinnamon and ginger close behind. Warm and cozy, not hot and fiery.

    Zarita, The Doll Girl (2016)

In the imp this is a light sugared orange blossom and cream confection, with sinister tartness underneath. On my skin it's very similar, with a flutter of carnation keeping the sweetness in check. Gorgeous.

    Anathema

In the imp this is dark, yet gauzy. The opium and honeysuckle combine for a sheer but dark and heady floral. On my skin it's even darker and more grounded and earthy with the vetiver coming out. A little smoky but more on the grassy side.

    Coraline Jones

At first I get mostly warm, slightly sweet skin musk. On the skin it's both fresh and warm, and reminds me of summer rain. Not an aquatic scent, but it reminds me of warm, rainy days in a forest in the PNW. A warm green dampness. As it dries it gets more of a prickly dry grass edge. I'm in love.

    Eclipse

Sweet vanilla-almond with a bit of cinnamon in the imp. It smells deliciously foody, but not in a straight up pastry sense. On my skin it is similar, this almond stays nutty on me and doesn't push cherry. It's a little less sweet on my skin, and the frankincense comes out and gives more depth. I don't think I can pick out the heliotrope specifically, but I think it is what is helping push the blend away from foody and to perfumey.

    Jazz Funeral

In the imp this smelled like green apple to me which really threw me off. On my skin I think it's more lime and florals, it still had a fruity quality to it. Pretty sure I get some lily. There's a humid, sort of waxy quality in there. I also get a bit of mossy greenness and I think a hint of mint. Green leafy mint, not toothpaste. I don't get any dirt on my skin. Overall much fresher than I anticipated.

    Uruk

In the imp I get a hypnotic jasmine and incense, with a syrupy quality to it in the best way. Languid and sultry. On my skin it's more incense forward and I get some drier elements from the patchouli and saffron, and I can detect a bit of almond. The jasmine really fades into the background, but it still detectable. It's a gorgeous blend.

    Orc

Fresh green and vegetal in the imp, with a slightly smoky undertone of leather and maybe a bit of sharp grassiness from the vetiver. But overall much fresher and brighter than I anticipated. On my skin it is much more leather forward, and underneath the rugged smokiness I get that bright green note, though it is pushing more cucumber than zucchini if I had to pin it. As it dries the leather-vetiver situation loses some of it's sharpness and it blends more with the courgette musk. It's all sort of a muddled dark green and leather.

blends containing that coveted lemony vanilla?

I wonder if Traditional Sheet Ghost might work as well? The frankincense is what is described as lemony, but it might have a similar enough effect!

    Discarded Sandal

Various foresty greens with a smidge of beeswax in the imp. On my skin the beeswax blooms and the muguet comes out, a beautiful soft white floral. All that foresty greenery really has faded back, like just a hint of it on the breeze.

    Ecstatic Dancing Penises

In the imp I get hit with the balsam, quickly followed by cardamom and patchouli. It smells like how I think a Really Expensive retreat lodge in the mountains would smell. On my skin it smells similar but a tiny bit sweeter from the benzoin, the balsam is a little softer and it is more woody now. Absolutely stunning.

Travelers Under a Tree Observed by Foxes

In the imp I get a bright sweet coocunut, mixed with that beautiful starchy rice milk. I swear I get just a hint of a dark green, pine or balsam note as well. On my skin it stays pretty much the same, I think the white tea was that dark green note- it blooms on my skin into a brighter, but still somewhat vegetal tea note.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

@wordortwo I think it looks like great one! Lots of dark inkiness and doesn't sound too sweet, violet is one that can go funky on me personally but have found it works in blends that have very little sweetness - particularly interested in the reviews saying it has an asphalt-like note as I absolutely loved that aspect in Waiting

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I'm seeing a lot deep, dark sort of scents so Elizabeth of Bohemia (the perfect rose oude) might be up your alley if you can do oud. Have you tried Mme. Moriarty or Behind the Veils? Both have a dark, inky, musky thing going on. Mme. Moriarty is fruity where Behind the Veils is more incensy. I wouldn't call either particularly sweet, but Behind the Veils is less so. The Magician I think would be in the same realm as Dee, Burmese rosewood, olibanum, benzoin, turmeric, currant leaf, and oude. Old Scratch might be of interest as well: a lavender fougere with tonka, amber, rosewood and a whiff of diabolical patchouli.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

@amokslime maybe keep an eye out for Sapphics: tonka, oakmoss, tolu balsam, grey amber, myrrh, and muguet. Fingers crossed it comes up in the Lupers this year!
  24. In the imp I get a really fizzy sort of scent. Like a coconut ice cream float of some kind topped with cinnamon. Behind that I get fried dough and some coffee. On my skin it is much more fried dough and coffee, a bit buttery and still with cinnamon and now a bit of ginger. It's a very roasty coffee. The coconut and cream start to creep in again as it dries, but this one stays very dry and spicy on me, and I was hoping for a bit more of that coconut sweetness to balance.
  25. I get a crisp green apple with a hint of cinnamon and lots of sweet sugary icing. As it sits I start getting a bit of buttery crust, and a hint of sweet potato if I really search.
