    Blueberry Cream Pie Bath Oil

Creamy, natural blue berry on me! Never really experienced blueberry in perfume, but I'm really digging it. Threatened to go a bit artificial for a moment, like those fruity-scented erasers from my childhood. But it ended natural, but sweet and jammy.

    Drag is for Everyone

In the bottle this is just a nice clean skin musk, reminding me a bit of Neutral or Reapers Gonna Reap. On my skin the frankincense and vanilla come in, warming it up but it never leaves the your-skin-but-better territory. Surprisingly good throw on me.

Creamy, honey-sweet magnolia and just a tinge of peach. Gorgeous, just wish the throw was a little stronger on me.

Starting off with a great heady gardenia with a bit of sharp tobacco flower, and some brightness from the bergamot. Dry however the tobacco flower takes over, and this ends smelling like an expensive soap.

    Springtime Education Hair Gloss

Very warm scent. In the decant I get spicy red fruits, if I search I get a smidge of juicy peach. The ginger comes off less zingy than I normally find it, almost like clove. On I get a warm vanilla-ish scent, the benzoin, amber, and sandalwood are most prominent. I get just a breath of dried fruits over the top.

    Jareth

So excited to finally try this, I love Dorian so hoping this is similar on me. The only worry is the leather. Wet this is all musky lilac with sweetness, and as it dries sharp, black leather starts to creep in. Luckily, it stays in the background just a hazy smokiness. I think the musk and fougere keep it from being too sharp, and I still get a little tonka and lilac in the end. Very nice, but not as glorious on my skin as I hoped.

    The Organ Grinder (2006)

While I love sarsaparilla, I assume the white pine and patchouli would push this more into my guy's territory (who also love sarsaparilla). However this smells equally good on the both of us. On him its woody mingling with sweet sarsaparilla, though the patch and almond milk grounds it in a way that it is not as dry as Tombstone. On me the creamy sweetness of the almond milk is more apparent (though not foody). Definitely will have to try the new one as well.

    Gloomy Day (February)

Starts off drier and woodier than I had expected, with how ambergris amps on my skin. There is a needly bite from the balsam. As it dries the ambergris amps and this gets warmer and muskier. The woods and soft hay mingle just beneath.

    Kit

This bottle is from the original release. Well, this is quite dry! Up front I get a lot of sandalwood and marjoram. Dry, woody, and a bit spicy-green from the marjoram. Very powdery wet. As it dries the ink comes out, as does the vanillic benzoin, taming the woodiness. Still a dry, powdery scent, but in a less harsh way. There is a warmth here. Very wistful, nostalgic and ancient.

    Sept Hair Gloss

This smells just like the perfume to me, sunny and sweet yellow rose. The only difference might be that the frankincense smells a bit brighter in the HG and has a little more texture.

    Hojōjutsu

This decant got lost in the mix and I wish I had tested it earlier or it might have been a bottle! This is an interesting white tea for me as I find they are usually very bright and crisp, and this is a lovely different take on it. It's a little creamy with the rice milk and almond blossom, with just a kiss of currant. It has a clean quality and brightness but not in the crisp citrusy way I tend to find it. The floral and fruit are perfectly balanced by the delicate creaminess of the rice milk.

    Secret Lovers and Sleeping Husband

This is hard to describe for me. I get a solid pink rose, but it is made dry and incensy but the amber and champaca. Very soft and warm. The word antiqued comes to mind.

    The Witch's Garden

Starts off very dark and herby, I can definitely pick out parsley but not much else. As it dries it gets a floral quality, narcotic evening flowers. Dry it smells like a green cottage yard and some waxy white floral, like gardenia or tuberose. Not what I was expecting but very lovely.

    Castitas Bath Oil

Love this as a simple and versatile bath oil, it pairs well with so many scents. Mostly sweet, fluffy vanilla cream with the delicate papery rice flower.

    Mary Shelley

Started off as a general sweet perfume with a touch of ozone. The absinthe takes over a bit in the end on my skin and is quite like licorice.

    Satyr

Definitely get patchouli and red musk up front, and as it dries some spice (maybe cinnamon or clove?) Spicy and dark, and the patchouli doesn't go wonky on me. But a little heavy over all for me.

Oh, this is glorious. Clean and sweet lily and lilac brightened by frankincense. Pure and bright.

I'm definitely getting the relation to Morocco. This is drier and more spiced to me, with that rich rose component in the background. Morocco's older sister if you will. I let this rest a week to make sure I had the full impact. The rose fades quite quickly on me which was the part that made this scent stand out to me, and in the end I get a rich spiced vanilla incense that reminds me a great deal of Morocco. Lovely, but I think I will pass her on to someone who will love her more passionately.

In the imp: apple candy Wet: more natural tart green apple and sharp herbal birch (almost smells like leather to me) Dry: The apple and apple blossom are the most prominent, floral and sweet but with a tartness. I get just a hint of birch underneath and it no longer reminds me of leather, just a soft herbal note. Loving this as a spring apple scent.

    Cicuta

In the bottle I get bright frankincense and the thin smoke of a blown-out candle, with a whiff of red rose. Wet: Lots of frankincense and that earthy dark sweetness of saffron. A little smoky at the edges. Dry the incense and saffron calm down and the dry rose petals come back with a dribble of candle wax and smoke. It all blends seamlessly together giving the impression of an old library to me.

    504 Gateway Time-out

Frimped by the lab, many thanks! This is so interesting. The mint seems really sharp and bracing (in a good way!) and I want to say it's spearmint, but then it gets sweeter like peppermint. Does remind me of a pine/citrus snow. I also get some lime, and maybe some grass though that could just be all the green-associations mingling. There's definitely more going on here, but that is the best I can do to parse it out. I love green scents and this one is a bit different than my others and wish it came in a bottle!

    Squirting Cucumber

I first bought a bottle of this back in 2009 before I found the forum and liked it (after I adjusted to the difference between BPALs and commercial perfume). I remembered it being intensely juicy and green, and when I got back into BPAL I never tried it again in favor of green scents that I found softer. However, I just got a frimp of this and its so different than I remember. Juicy but soft grassy cucumber, might need a new bottle!

Oh my. The golden vanilla and musk meld beautiful with the ambergris that my skin amps. So largely this is a warm, vanillic salty skin scent on me. I catch just hints of the sea moss occasionally making this a lovely non-traditional beach scent. Will need more.

    Lavender Lace

The lavender starts off really soft on my skin and vaguely reminds of Waiting and makes me think of rainy days. Dry it's a smoky dry lavender that makes me think of incense, backed soft vanilla and tobacco to keep it from being too dry or smoky. Very soft and nostalgic, perfect for rainy days.

    Memorials of Friendship

In the imp this smells somewhere between peach candy and hairspray. Wet it is peach candy with incensy champaca, which I hope won't go sharp on me. Dry the ambergris amps on me giving a warm, lightly sweet musky base. The peach lightens up and gives a lightly fruity breeze, and the neroli is heady and a bit bitter, cutting some of the sweetness. The champaca adds the incensy vibe and is a little sharp, but is balanced by the sweeter notes.
