    Mad Meg

I'm going through my imp pack in alphabetical order, and this one is next In the imp, yes, there it is, my old nemesis, Vetiver. It actually seems to be playing well with others right now, so I'm not too scared away. Wet on my skin -- VETIVER. Oh yeah, and some other smoky burned spicy stuff... Dry on my skin -- oh my, this turns out NICE! The vetiver backs right down (yay!) and this deliciously firey spicy smoky scent comes out. It's like sitting by a raging fire, but it's definitely not one made with pine wood. Some other kind of wood that lends a kind of spicy scent to it. I know this scent -- someone around uses something like this in their fireplace every winter, and I love it, I just have no idea what wood it is. The cinnamon is there way in the background, too, adding an almost sweet spicyness, but it's so close to my skin I really have to lean in and snorfle. I'm always reluctant when I see Vetiver in a blend, but it works very well in this one. I might contemplate a bottle of this

    Minotaur

Deep, dark, delicious, burning resins and incense and this is just what I've been looking for as an incensy type scent. Why oh why didn't I order a bottle when I saw it?! I got a bottle of it, and although it does the powder thing on me initially like it did to other folks who put it on right away, after about half an hour the wonderful resin scents come out nice and strong. I must find more...

    Milk Moon 2007

Since milk and I don't get along in the first place, I was very nervous about this scent after reading all the reviews mentioning the sour milk scent. I'm still a little nervous because I only put it on a short while ago, but right now I'm getting this deliciously creamy fruity custard scent. It's definitely heavy cream, not milk I'm smelling, and as long as it doesn't go sour on me I'll be very happy. It reminds me of a dessert we got once at a Burmese restaurant that was a kind of custard/cocoanut milk/raisins/almonds mix. Very heavy and sweet and so wonderful!

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Well, now I know that it's not my nose that's broken -- this actually does smell minty to me! I'm so relieved! In the bottle -- delicious minty goodness with a hint of sweetness. It smells just like the new Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste, which is the best toothpaste ever in the whole world (even if it is strange to be brushing your teeth with something that tastes like butter mints...)! On my skin -- the minty scent stays, and I get a hint of that thin mints thing other people have, too. After drydown -- there's something a little odd in the background. I don't get it all the time, and have to really snorfle my wrist to smell it, but it's odd. Sometimes it's the weird Play-doh scent people refer to (never had anything do that to me before!) and sometimes it's kind of dry and musty. Now it's gone again and I keep getting whiffs of delicious mintyness. I love this scent so much I'll put up with the weirdness, and I'm so glad I decided to splurge for a bottle!

    Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

Menacing, maniacal, and slick with the one-liners ... this guy does it all with a wink and a smile! Savage apricot, depraved dry woods, and psychopathic patchouli covered by a disarmingly sweet mishmosh of caramel, brown sugar, hazelnut, and butterscotch. Be warned: this oil will instigate possession in most puppets, including some marionettes and the occasional finger puppet. This is delicious and I'm sad I didn't order a bottle now -- delicious sweet dark woods -- I'm not getting any of the apricot unless it's just blending into the sweetness, but oh what a wonderful scent! In the imp it's a little heavy on the dryness -- maybe a little of that dusty scent others are talking about -- and it does seem a little peppery/spicy. The moment it touches my skin it's wonderful! The peppery/spicy scent goes away and it becomes a warm, sweet woody smell. I'm not getting much of the cedary smell others are, and I'm guessing the patchouli is grounding it somehow. As it dries it becomes sweeter and more subtle -- the caramel and brown sugar is there mixed in with the other scents, but still no sign of the apricot. I may have to find a bottle of this somewhere...

    Twenty-One

I got this as a frimp today, and I just tried it on. I vaguely remembered the description, but didn't know exactly what it was. It's *fantastic* -- this is bright and fizzy and the most delicious slightly boozy martini scent. There's a touch of lemon in it, but mostly what I get from it is fizzy. I LOVE this scent -- it'd be the perfect summer happy scent It also lasted about 10 whole minutes -- now it's just juniper I like juniper, a lot, but I loved the martini scent. I wish it lasted longer. Maybe if I try more on my skin, instead of just rubbing the imp cap on my wrist. *crosses fingers* And again, later, it goes back to that wonderful fizzy scent. Okay, I love this scent!!!

    Riding the Goat

I was worried about this when I smelled it in the imp -- I loved the description so much I bought a bottle unsniffed, and after sniffing my decant I was thinking it would be heading straight to the swap/sales. It's kind of sharp and perfumey in the imp -- not at all the deep woodsy/incensy scent I was expecting. That sharp/perfumey scent stayed for a bit while it was on my skin, but now -- oh yes, this is what I was expecting from the description. Warm, incense and polished wood, a hint of sweetness from the pipe smoke -- this is a lovely scent. All the sharpness is gone, leaving behind this deliciously mysterious warmth.

    Stranger in Camp

I'm in love with this scent. Pine, pine, forest, smoke, and more pine! It's gloriously fresh and bracing like sitting out in the woods near the campfire, while the air at your back is chill and brisk. Then it turns warm and inviting, like you've moved indoors, into a little cabin with a huge fireplace. Pine logs are burning on the fire and that delicious pine scent is wrapped all around you, while you laze on the rug and sip warm brandy. I am SO glad I splurged for a bottle on this one!

Sitting up with a Sick Friend

The rosewater is nice, but the perfumey scent in this one doesn't thrill me, and the leather keeps turning into a vaguely warm... something. I'm not sure what it is, but if I didn't know it was supposed to be leather, I'd never recognize it as such. It's... odd. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not my favourite of the DPP set. If you don't like scents that are reminiscent of cologne, you may not like this one. However, if you're worried about the rosewater being overpoweringly rosey, it isn't. It's very light (on me it's nearly overpowered by the cologney scent). The longer I wear this, the better it blends and smooths out, so even though it's not for me, I'm liking it more. I am glad I just have the decant and not a bottle, though

    Czernobog

I think I'm really glad I didn't read the reviews here before I ordered this imp They would have scared me off and I'd never have tried this. In the imp -- Y HALLO THAR VETIVER!! Which, in its own right was nearly enough to scare me away from it. BUT, the prospect of dark musks and myrrh was enough to make me gather my nerves and put it on. Wet on skin -- the vetiver fades pretty quickly (thank gods) and the musk and myrrh starts to come out. It's a slow transformation but it becomes something darkly sexy and animalistic. There's still something else there (might be the mullein, which I wouldn't know if it bit me), and I can kind of see where some people are getting the Coke scent from, but it's mainly dark and musky and mmmm... Drydown -- I'm sniffing my wrists every few minutes. It's a delicious dark and wicked sweetness now, all musky and spicy and I can't help thinking of this scent as Sylar from Heroes -- evil and still so incredibly hot. I don't think I'll get a bottle, but I may get an imp or two from time to time. I wonder how the scent is after it's aged a bit. Hmmn... Edit almost a year later. Um. Yeah, I bought a bottle. And oh my goodness this improves on aging and is even darker and sexier and YUM. Definitely a winner!

    Seraglio

I got this as a frimp -- I wasn't even familiar with it and had to search around to find where it was in the catalog. Reading the notes, I think I'd like this very much, as long as it comes out kind of spicy. In the bottle: Eeek Cherry Coke/Cough syrup! Even more Cherry Coke/cough syrup than the Phantom Calliope. But then again, Phantom Calliope turned out really nice on my skin, so I'm brave enough to give it a try. Wet on skin: Plastic?! What? No, cherry plastic! Or... almonds? Or cherry almond plastic? Not a clue where this comes from, but it's a strong, almost nasty plastic scent. Drydown: Oh wait -- this is starting to smell really nice. Kind of soft almondy mixed with rose, and a little smidge of orange and spice. Not at ALL like it smelled when it was wet. It's a soft, subtle scent, with what seems to be virtually no throw at all (I'm learning these terms now ) Overall, I could actually take it or leave it, but it isn't an instant swap like I thought it might be on the initial sniffs.

    Pink Moon 2007

I was so surprised by this one! You see, I really am NOT a flowery type of person, and only really tried this one because I'm nosy and decided I wanted a full set of decants... I love the woods and resins and spices, and thought this could be really super scary. I'm not a pink person, either. But now I need to find a bottle of this, because I'm in love! In the bottle it's a sweet flowery horror show to me -- everything I was afraid it would be. It's like walking into a flower shop and feeling everything in there start to douse me with pollen. But the instant I put it on my skin it warms up into this wonderful sweet sugary scent that's almost more like bubble gum and icing. There's a spicy edge to it, though, which I know must be the carnation. I'm not familiar with phlox, but I think I can smell an odd, almost more green scent that might be it. But for the most part it's sugar and spice and just an edge of wickedness. There's something specific that it smells like and I can NOT put my finger on it, but I love this oil!!

    Brimstone

I picked up a few woodsy/resiny/incensy scents in an imp pack, and this was one of them. I was so intrigued by the descriptions here that I knew I had to try it. I am SO very glad I did, because it is LOVELY! Of course, I also notice all the warnings to only use a little, and my imp has a kind of odd 'sticky' top that suddenly popped out and splattered it all down the side. So much for using a little! In the imp it's smoky and a little acrid -- definitely the scent of a forest fire or a huge bonfire. On my skin it rapidly turns into this deliciously smoky woodsy scent just like a wood stove or bonfire burning pine. The acrid edge to it goes away almost immediately and it turns into warm firey wow. It does make me feel a little wicked and powerful, and I think I've just figured out what Loki would smell like. I think I need to get a bottle of this!

    Black Cat

I got this as a frimp from the wonderful person who sold me the Pumpkin Patch decants, and honestly was not thrilled with the scent in the imp. I didn't get any of the rose or herbal or minty touches other people smelled, and almost didn't even try it on. But I did, and after a few minutes of uncertainty and hoping that the weird edge in it wasn't vetiver, all of a sudden it's this lovely soft spicy rose scent! It completely snuck up on me. I've gone from 'eeek this has to go' to 'I might actually wear this occasionally' (I'm not one for florals too often)!

    Pumpkin Patch II (2005, 2006)

Pumpkin with cocoa, hazelnut and walnut. I wonder about my nose sometimes. I didn't even get the chocolate note in the imp I have. It's pumpkin and something else I just can't place, but definitely no chocolate to me. On my skin, there's a sudden surge of buttery pumpkinness, then it quickly calms down into a dark baking chocolatey, nutty pumpkin scent that makes me think of Thanksgiving dinner preparations and makes me feel very happy. I keep getting gentle wafts of baking chocolate, warm nuts, pumpkin -- this is lovely!

    Pumpkin Patch IV (2005, 2006)

There's a definite buttery edge to this in the imp I have, but on my skin the scent very quickly changes to a pumpkin/incense scent that is just lovely. It's *almost* too sweet, but still has that spicy edge that keeps it from being cloying. I'm starting to think I'm going to have to order all of these in bottles if they're released again in 2007, because this is just delicious!

    The Phantom Calliope

Eep -- my first review! In the bottle this scared the heck out of me. I thought OMG Cherry cough medicine yikes! But then I braved it and put some on, and it was lovely! The cherry is much softer and warmer than it is in the bottle, and for an instant there's a bright flash of verbena. I wish it would stay there longer -- it's a lovely sharp lemony counterpoint to the cherry, but on me it fades in under five minutes. And then the scent morphs into a wonderful warm cherry/patchouli/spiciness (must be the cardamom-- it's delicious!). I put some into a fragrance free hand lotion I bought, and I love it. I must have bottles of this one -- an imp will not last me!

    PURPLE!

Black Ice seems purple-ish to me, and I have absolutely no idea why

    Where is this scent?

You have to search in advanced mode - a search "nuclear" for all scents for both descriptions and scent names pulled it up. This is all the info you will get from the BPAL site itself. If you want the dates it was live (it was a 2005 Yule LE, not a discontinued blend), then the forum reviews are as close as you will get. It went up 10/05, as indicated in the reviews linked by portal kat and the Lab. I don't recall exactly when it went down, probably 1/06 or 2/06. Ahhh -- thank you! I kept only finding the first one of those results and it was making me nutty

    Where is this scent?

Here it is Thanks, but that's the review section on the forum that I said I could find. I'm trying to find where it's listed on the actual BPAL site (most of the other limited editions for the past few years seem to have updates showing on the site, and a number of them have the date they were discontinued, but I can't locate Nuclear Winter in that area). It's making me very confused, because it's the only one I can't actually find...

    Where is this scent?

I'm trying to locate Nuclear Winter on the site. I know it's a Limited Edition, and I'm pretty sure it's discontinued, but I'd like the site's description of it for my spread sheet, and if possible the date it was discontinued. I haven't had any luck searching on the site, and while I can find the reviews of it here, I can't find it elsewhere. Help?
