    Rosy Maple

This perfume giggles, like a girl behind her hand to her best friend. Not a cruel giggle, but a giggle of the pure delight of being a girl, being here, and having tis funny, odd, pretty world to live in. This is the sweetest thing, all cotton candy, pink jelly beans, and pink lemonade on my skin, a rush of fruity sugar. And it makes me giggle too. I won't always want to giggle, or to be quite this aggressively pink and silly, but when that mood strikes, I know exactly what bottle I'm reaching for!

    Love's Philosophy

This is a perfect, vanilla touched cream with just a wee dab of rich saffron, which warms up the whole thing, and keeps it from being too sweet. Very subtle, but very sophisticated.

    De Vos’ Unicorn

This is a perfume that I keep sniffing, and then letting out a deep and calming sigh. This is so pretty, vanilla and sugared florals in the best way. The peony is just breathtaking, and the rest of the floral notes are perfectly balanced. I smell so pink! This is such a pretty, happy smell.

    Allegory of Chastity

So my significant other loves rose scents. Everything I've ever worn that has rose as a strong gets a "ooh, you smell good" from him. So the following conversation was super funny- Him: "What are you wearing? You smell so sexy." Me: "Its called Allegory of Chastity." Him: "Ha, well, they got the name wrong." Ha indeed. I smell a lightly vanilla touched rose, very soft and pink. The jasmine flirts in and out, as does the bergamot, and the rosehips give it a lovely powdered quality, which keeps it from going too twee. So I find this innocent in and old fashioned and charming way, but be warned if you have any rose loving gents in your life, for they will not agree with the name.

    Asp Viper (2016)

The strongest note I get out of this is the almond, which stops just short of marzipan, but doesn't stay in a "natural" almond scent either. I do get the mandarin, and a hint of something fizzy, which is the myrrh, but the other strongest note is the sugared quality of the snake oil itself. I think this will really come into its own in the colder months, and I will enjoy wearing it then.

    Apple II

When I got this last autumn, I was not overly impressed. This is because it felt wrong for the season, not for any fault of its own. It felt too summery! Well, its summer now! This is green apple, with a twist of lemon and a dusting of pepper. Its very fresh, very clean. I don't get any of the cedar, which is great. I get a bright, clear green apple, which is lovely in the heat of summer, but will get tucked away come autumn.

Fresh and Blooming as a Rose

I say this in the most loving way possible, but this smells like rose soap. A soft, powdery, old fashioned soap. Some of you have just recoiled from the screen in horror, closed your browsers, and gone to sniff the richer roses in your collections. And I don't blame you, rose soap is not for everyone! But for the person who sometimes wants a light and almost powdery rose, something old fashioned and sweet, then this is for you. Its for me too, on those days when a lush bloom is too much, but you need roses about you. The memory of a rose in winter.

    Zephyr

I am always questing for a lemony oil, something to see me through the unbearably hot days of summer. And while this is a scent that would be good for summer, its not the lemony perfume I was hoping for. I get all white must, and faint white florals. Not unpleasant, but not quite what I was hoping for either. It will be good in the heat, but its also not really pushing my buttons. Oh well!

    Veil

Veil is perfectly named, as this perfume is a sheer layer of soft floral and sandalwood. Its very fresh and clean, but so subtle, with a very delicate throw. I wasn't sure when I got it, but now I am well convinced. Its a good un.

    Pepper

When this first goes on me I get a whiff of..... bubblegum? What? How do I get gum out of this? It dries down to a smell that I can't quite pin down, a bit floral, a bit, what exactly? Rubbery? Not unpleasant, but theres a strange bounce to it, which never quiet settles down on my skin. I really, really want to love you, Pepper. Your notes are so fecking beautiful on their own, why can't they all sing in harmony on me? Hmmm. A BPAL first for me, one I really, really cant decide on, (I know, very helpful note. Whoops)

    Persephone

When I got this as a Frimp, I was excited. I love rose, I love fruit, I love the story of Persephone. So this was going to be right up my ally. But I leave disappointed. I get the rose, and a hint of pomegranate, but it lays flatly upon my skin, when I wanted it to dance. Ah well. I'll wear the Frimp, but no bottle will come to me of this.

    The Large Harem

On me this opens with a burst of ceder. ACK! Nooo, I wanted a lush floral and fruit blend. Why, cedar, why!? But the cedar only sticks around for a while, blending in the back, and letting the carnation take front and center, followed by rose. I don't get any lychee out of this, which is too bad, as I was hoping for that fruity freshness added to this blend. This reminds me a lot of Maiden, but with a hint of ceder to it. Not bad, but not exactly what I was hoping for.

    Coral Snake (2016)

Wowza. First bite of Coral Snake is over the top orange and apple, a screaming fruit salad, so tropical and fresh. This vanishes after only a few moments, mellowing a little, and then starts its slow decent into a delicatly floral tinged Snake Oil, with just a hint of the fruit rounding out the edges. I'm not sure at which stage I like it more. The first is so playful and dramatic, the second subtle and nuanced. The second, however, is a wrist huffer, as the throw is minimal at best. Theres a little trickiness to this snake, but I like it.

    Mad Kate

What an interesting combination of notes, and I must say, I am pleased with them. My afternoon was spent as Mad Kate dithered back and forth between being a lovely, mild floral and a lovely mild fruit blend, with honeycomb adding a waxy sweetnes to both. I feel, despite the white floral quality, that this would really bloom in the autumn, when the honeycomb and currant could make a truly impressive showing. Mad Kate is a bit crazy, but very charming.

    Faith

Now I didn't expect to like Faith as much as I liked her sister, but Faith has proven to be ever inch the equal of hope. This is gorgeous. A sugared violet that fades so gracefully over the course of the day into a delicate, sweet yet still floral haze. Neither the sugar of the violet wins here, they just sing together in perfect harmony. Ahh, the Twins have been a complete and utter win.

    Maiden

I suspected from the get-go that I would like this. The list of notes read like the little sister of Alice, and the two are most certainly related. But it would not paint the full picture to say that Maiden is just Alice-lite. Maiden is feminine with out being girly, sophisticated without being heavy or overbearing, and delicate without vanishing entirely in moments. I love the blend of carnation, rose and tea. This is going to become a staple in my scent wardrobe, one of the ones that I turn to when I don't know what to wear. And just as Alice is my go-to in colder months, I suspect this will take that place in the warmer months. Just beautiful.

    Round Dance

This perfume makes me giggle! Its light, sweet, and certainly playful. The creamy note wins out in the end, but before it does the sweet florals and strawberries run the show. Its just so much gosh darn fun, and it turns out I love blush amber. I suspected I would, but now I know!

    Iulia, L'Artiste du Diable

I was hoping that I would love this. I was hoping that it would be a summer classic, light, fresh, shimmering on distressingly hot days. Well, I've sort of got my wish, but something about Iulia is not sitting perfectly right with me. It starts out a little sharp to my nose. It mellow out into a scent that my significant other described as "clean", and I agree. It mellows down to a bright, scrubbed skin sort of smell. I was so charmed by the idea of Iulia. I just wish she and I could get along perfectly in person.

    Blossoming Vulva

This is so, so soft. A blend of soft wood, soft vanilla, soft amber and soft florals. Subtle to the nth degree, and very delicate. Pleasant is the word that comes to mind for me. But its so gentle that my skin just devours it . A couple of hours after application it had skedattled, and left only a soft after smell on my wrist. A soft and pleasant lingering, but the full effect was gone. I was really taken with this, when it was first on, but it is a fleeting thing. As insubstantial on me as a dream.

    Volcano in Springtime

Ooooh! Oooooooooooooh! This is nice. In fact, that's what I said out loud to an empty room when I first smelled it. It is most certainly vanilla, and a lush and creamy one, but the sandalwood keeps it from getting too marshmallowy. The lotus root lurks around in the background, but gives the whole thing a sweetness. So, long story short, its lovely.

    The Waltz

I don't think I've ever smelled anything from the Lab that smelled so much like "perfume" before. But, as we've come to expect from the Lab, its done better than half the mainstream perfumes out there. Its gorgeous, on me a blooming pink or white rose, touched by vanilla and amber. I don't exactly smell any of the champagne musk, but its also infused with a lightness to it, which I feel may be the influence of the bubbly. Its sweet, feminine, and delicate, but with surprising stay to it. I love it. Perfect for any day that one wants to feel particularly ladylike and lovely.

    The Soldier

I got this of the labs Etsy, and I'm really glad I did. Its a creamy, slightly musky blend, with a hint of pie crust. I was worried about the leather, but it turns out I didn't need to worry about that, as its creamy and easy and good. Its a vanilla/pie scent grounded by the leather and musk, and it doesn't go very far into foodie territory. Recommended!

    Dorian

Oh my, but this is sophisticated. Unlike many other reviewers, I don't really get the individual notes of tea or lemon or sugar, I just get sophistication. This is a grownups perfume, the three musks making it subtle and hang close to the skin, while the other notes, which I can sense but not exactly smell, keep it from getting too serious. This is a gentleman, proper in every way, but with perhaps a wicked eyebrow raised at the lady across from him. This will get reached for when I want to be lovely and the most elegant lady around.

    Halfling

My significant other may have hit the nail directly on the head when he said that this scent smelled like "cookies and home." Yep, thats it. This is a warm and chewy oatmeal cookie, with maybe a hot mug of something near by. Its warm, its comfortable, its delicious. A perfect Halfling evening!

    Pure Applesauce

In the bottle this is a bright, juicy green apple, and a generous dose of brown sugar. On the skin the apple note fades into a pleasant tartness, and the tobacco tar and tea come to the front. As it fades it turns into a sweet apple tea, with a hint of smoke to it, which is very pleasant, very fresh. I can't decide if I'll like this better in the autumn or the summer. I'm glad I have a bottle, so I can play with it!
