    O

The scent of sexual obsession, slavery to sensual pleasure, and the undercurrent of innocence defiled utterly. Amber and honey with a touch of vanilla. Imp: Sweet, but not sugary. A more natural honey scent. Smells very thick. Wet: Honey and something else. Something sweeter, but again, not artificially sweet. For a moment, I get something floral, but it fades. Dry: Still getting the fresh honey thing, but I'm not so sure about warm vanilla or anything else. Hm…nice, not nothing special. I'm not really getting the vanilla I wanted from this. Final Thoughts: I'm going to try this a few more times and see how it goes. It's nice, but I was expecting so much more.

    Regan

Imp: spicy sweet floral, very nice. Wet: FLOWERS…please no… Dry: I think I was seduced by the “vanille” in the description…I’m just getting pungent flowers. Final Thoughts: Bummer! I love love love vanilla and many foody lovers rejoyced over this scent, so I thought it might work out. It's strange, because I have an orchid lotion that I love, but for some reason Regan didn't get along the same way. I might try him again, for good measure.

    Lightning

Imp: Lemony fresh air. Wet: A light air, flower thing…but not in a bad way… Dry: Perfumed rain water, but also mildly soapy. Final thoughts: When I started my BPAL experience with Thalssa and everyone said it was the best aquatic, I figured that I would like other scents in the same category, and so far they are all nice, but nice enough to keep. Perhaps I'm less aquatic than I think...

    R'lyeh

Imp: I get the aquatic and something else…not quite fruity sweet, but…more fresh. Not as evil as I expected… Wet: tangy citrus. Dry: creeping aquatic notes over a tangy tinged scent that I can’t place. Everyone else grapefruit, but I don’t know about that. Final Thoughts: Pretty and not at all clashy, just not what I expected. I think I'll wait and try again, maybe with less preconceived ideas about how I think it should smell.

    Dirty

Clean...dryer sheets Sweet and tart at the same time Fresh and clean... ...but not for me. I get the laundry thing. This is soft and it is pretty, but I like scents with a little more of my kind of personality. Off to swaps, it seems.

    Australian Copperhead (2006)

Snake Oil with acai berry, amber, cardamom, neroli, and smoked vanilla. Imp: Sweet berries. Wet: A moment of pine-sol, but then right back to berry sweetness. Dry: Still berries, but creamier. Maybe a hint of spice, but it's hard to tell. Final Thoughts: This is really really pretty. I like it. My first attempts with Snake Oil were a bust, but thus far the Snake Pit has been nothing but yummy delights. Mmm.

    Wrath

I put this on my wishlist before I knew what Dragon's Blood smelled like. I knew that I liked everything else, so I figured it couldn't be too bad. Imp: Dark spices...oh...cloves! Mmm...I like cloves. Wet: Pretty much the same, maybe spicer. Dry: Dragon's blood powder of doom. *sigh* I'm not sure what about Dragon's Blood and my chemisty don't get along, but for some reason they don't... Final Thoughts: It sounded really neat, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. It'll find a good home. I'm sure of it.

    Thalia

Two things I love: plumeria and pear. My boyfriend also REALLY loves plumeria, as he spent a few years of childhood in Hawai'i. Imp: Sweet, juicy pears. I remember this is how Juliet started for me, but it didn't stay that way. I'm hopeful for this one. Wet: Plumeria! Yes! This is what I want. I've been searching for a scent with plumeria for years. Yay! I can't believe I can smell this and not be in Maui. Oh this is really special. Dry: Yummy pear and fragrant plumeria, in perfect balance. I get both at different times. So delightful. =) Final Thoughts: This is fantastic. It's like I'm in Hawai'i again. I can't believe how wonderful this scent is. BIG BOTTLE for me. Yum.

    Temple of Dreams

Imp: Spicy herbs, almost with a tee-tree sort of feel. Wet: More pungent, maybe a hint of citrus. Dry: Rosemary! I wouldn't normally think of wearing rosemary, but I do find it comforting. I grew up with a rosemary plant in the backyard. I remember good parts of my life with that scent. Final Thoughts: I'm going to wear it to sleep tonight and see how it goes. I'm a hard sleeper, who struggles to get out of bed in the morning/afternoon. Maybe this will help me out.

    Snake Oil

I don't understand. Vanilla is my signature note. It has been my entire life. I was so excited about Snake Oil, especially since the one Snake Pit scent I had turned out SO GOOD. Imp: No vanilla, but maybe something spicy. I don't know if that is the right term for it. Not like cinnamon, but heavy and tingley. Wet: First off, this is a REALLY thick oil. Thicker than anything else I've tried, so it took a long time to dry. I got some incense sort of thing in this phase. Dry: A dark powder. Similar, but not exactly like Dragon's Milk (which also turned to powder on me). Very odd. Final Thoughts: I tried this scent several times because I KNEW it had to be me, but I guess not. I'm so sad about it. I know there is more vanilla to find, but I so wanted this to be it for me. There are a ton of people who love it, so it'll be okay to let go of.

    Tempest

It's hard for me to go into a lot of detail about this one in the different stages, because they all blend together really well. I get a lot of fresh and clean. Maybe a tinge of salt, but not much. I get a little citrus, maybe something floral too. It's hard to say. Light, and wafting. Very breezy. Nice. I like it. I think this will be a fantastic stay at home scent, for pampering and vegging. Being healthy. I like this a lot.

    Jolly Roger

I really couldn't place this one at any stage. It's fresh and clean, but tainted somehow. Very light, airy, and masculine, but I couldn't get anything else. I decided it wasn't for me and the boy really didn't like it, but I think my male roommate will LOVE it, so I know it will have a good home. =)

    Hellcat

Imp: Rum! In your face too. Bam! Wet: Oh no! Rum gone bad and rancid. Yuck. Dry: This is really awful on me. What happened? Final Thoughts: I don't know why, but my chemistry did not like this at all. Other people in the room asked me to take it off. It sounded so good, but not for me.

    Kitsune-Tsuki

Imp: Fruit! Wet: Super sweet, almost like those melon scented candles. Luckily, I like it. Dry: A very nice and complimentary blend of fruit, flowers, and musk. Gorgeous. Also very very light. I can't smell it unless I have my nose next to my wrist. Final Thoughts: This is really pretty, but not suiting my mood. I think I'll keep it around and try again later...it's too pretty to let go.

    Gluttony

Imp: Buttery and boozy… Wet: I think I get a hint of chocolate and pralines…then toffee. Dry: A mix of all the ingredients, feeling a bit like cake… Again like Cockaigne…yummy, but no wine, more caramel, more bloated sweetness. Yum! Final Thoughts: Foody lovers galore! This is fantastic. I'm not a chocolate fan at all, but this is divine. I've been keeping my nose to my wrists all day. I even carried the imp with me today (a first). This is a bigger bottle for sure.

    Frumious Bandersnatch

Imp: Fruity, and very plum. Not quite sweet, maybe over ripe. Wet: Carnation, spice, and plum. Yum, but not in the foody way. Dry: Spiced honey/spice plums. Final Thoughts: I can't decide on this one...it's good, but...I don't know. I like carnations, unlike most other flowers. I'll keep the imp and try it again later. Maybe it'l grow on me.

    Forbidden Fruit

Imp: reminds me an old woman's perfume... Wet/dry: Mostly floral with a hint of citrus. Nope, not for me.

    Eclipse

I am the vanilla queen, so I figured this would work out great. Imp: Buttery almonds. Wet: Almond cookies, but very heavy on the almond. Boozy almond. And then some spice. My skin tends to amp up cinnamon (I love cinnamon, so I don't mind), so I thought that would be the end, but nope, it behaved. Dry: I'm getting the floral now and it's a little soapy. I'm still hoping for vanilla and francincense. But no, just flower and a little cinnamon. The almond is so faint that I could imagining it. Final Thoughts: This is pretty, but not for me. I like Queen of Sheba more, so at least I can get some almond love elsewhere.

Imp: Musky cinnamon...not very tea-like at all. Hmm... Wet: Sweet scones. Dry: Fresh, sugared milk, and somehow tea-esk! I get the milk tea. Holy crap! Wow. That is so neat!! Final Thoughts: Wow, this is so pretty and comforting. I love milk teas. I'll sit and breathe in the warm cup and this is wearning those moments. Precious. Bigger bottle for sure. Now to try it on the boy... [LATER THAT DAY] The lemon came out a lot more on him, a sweet and light lemon cake. He deemed this VERY good because he loves lemon cake. Upon drydown there was more tea and lemon and I like it a lot. He still isn't a very scent oriented person, but he has agreed to wear this on request for me. =) On me, the second time, I get more lemon, but still the yummy sweet creamy tea scent of comfort and love. I need to get the soap of this I think. Yummy!

    Drink Me

This was meant to be my first scent from BPAL, as it was a gift, but I only just the gift yesterday. Bottle: Buttery cake! The butter is Jack really has me nervous about butter, but this one seems more inviting. Wet: Very similar to Cockaigne on me, minus the wine edge. I got a touch of cinnamon and spice with sweet and divine cake. Dry: Vanilla, still foody, but incense too. Really muted sweet incense. Amazing. Still with the cake, but also with deep complex dizzy swirls. Final Thoughts: I'm SO glad this gift was a bottle. My first bottle at that. Very yummy and sexy and complex. I LOVE this.

    Eat Me

Imp: Floral? Oh no!! Please no! Wet: Sweet, but not really foody...hmmm...wonder what happened here. Dry: Oh okay, something berry like. Actually, this is the same sweet berries I get from Bewitched, only sweeter and less green. Final Thoughts: I don't know what I think about this one. I think I need to wear it again to make any final choices, but this isn't as vanilla-cake-foody as I was expecting...

    Cathode

Imp: Sweet minty goodness. Wet: This reminds of Thalassa, in mint. Very pretty. Not what I was expecting at all. Dry: OXY Pads. I used these when I was a pre-teen and smelling this brought back flash backs of those evil things. Final Thoughts: I wish it stayed in the orginal imp and wet form because it's very pretty. The dry form does remind me a fresh and clean, but my pre-teen and teen years were dreaful. I don't like thinking about those times. Even though I can't use this scent, this has now inspired me to look at other mint blends that I might have passed up just because I thought they might not suite me. So this wasn't a total loss. =) Hopefully, someone else can love it more.

    Queen of Sheba

Imp: Straight away this is gorgeous. Tasty, buttered almonds with a hint of spice. Not red hot, like cinnamon, but dry and exotic. Wet: Heavy heavy almonds with an almost alcoholic tinge. I was worried it might not be as pretty, but I waited patiently. Dry: Mmmm...dry spices with sweet almonds. The honey comes out a little bit in this stage. This is reallly nice. Final Thoughts: I think I want a bigger bottle of this. Queen of Sheba is really pretty, but not quite foody. I don't get power from this, but I do get extravagant and exotic beauty. I love this.

Wistful and vulnerable: lotus, water blossom ivy, stargazer lily and white rose. Keep in mind that I've been figuring out the hard way that foral blends probably aren't my thing, but I'm trying everything I get anyway. Imp: ROSE... Wet: Rose water. Actually, I love rose water. It reminds me of a grown up moment in my childhood. I might really like this. Dry: Still lots of rose, but the water part fades. I get another flower here too, lotus? I'm bad at picking these things out, but they don't fight here. Just rose and lotus sitting together and the water wafts out from behind. Final Thoughts: Because of the floral aspect, my first thought is to swap it. However, the rose water element has me really torn. It's a beautiful floral scent. Very femine, pretty, and a touch melacholy. I'll hold on to it for now and see what happens.

    Hurricane

I am new to vetiver so I don't know what it smells like, but apparently this is pretty strong here. Imp: Wet, rotting wood. Decay. Dry: The tang that everyone seems to notice is here... Dry: Mint? I'm getting something cold and minty, along with the tang and wood. Very interesting. Final Thoughts: This is really complex. There are some dark elements here paired with some fresh elements and cold elements too. Really well done. This felt more masculine on me, but it didn't smell very different on my guy. Very sharp. I don't think I could wear this regularly, but boy is it interesting.
