    October Atmosphere Spray

Ay, thou art welcome, heaven’s delicious breath! When woods begin to wear the crimson leaf, And suns grow meek, and the meek suns grow brief And the year smiles as it draws near its death. Wind of the sunny south! oh, still delay In the gay woods and in the golden air, Like to a good old age released from care, Journeying, in long serenity, away. In such a bright, late quiet, would that I Might wear out life like thee, ‘mid bowers and brooks And dearer yet, the sunshine of kind looks, And music of kind voices ever nigh; And when my last sand twinkled in the glass, Pass silently from men, as thou dost pass. Dry, cold autumn wind. A rustle of red leaves, a touch of smoke and sap in the air. This is the perfect October/Halloween room fragrance. I don't know how, but it really does evoke cold, autumnal air. BPAL's dead leaves are definitely in here, it sort of wafts in and out now and then to remind you it's there. There's a "perfumey" note too that stops it being as natural and outdoorsy as I expected. I did buy this for myself, but it's actually perfect for my ma. I can't honestly see me using it for more than a week either side of Halloween anyway, this is the first time I've had a strongly seasonal response to a scent ☺ Edit to add that this is really similar to Dead Leaves, Patchouli, Honey and Warm Musk hair gloss!

    Tavern of Hell

In the imp: Boozy tobacco-y mess Wet: It's actualy quite leathery now, but it's mostly whiskey dregs Dry: Yep, whiskey and weirdly, the coriander is pretty prominent on me. Definitely not a keeper.

    Follow Me Boy

In the imp: Musky white flowers Wet: Mainly jasmine Dry: Musky muskness, a little masculine. This doesn't work on me at all, which is a shame because I could have used this!

    Nemesis

In the imp: A little sharpness to it, which is probably cypress. Wet: Definitely getting ginger above the other notes. Dry: This is so well blended, I can't really distinguish anything once it's dried. It's very slightly rosy and something gives it an earthy edge, probably the patchouli. Really like this one.

    Night-Gaunt

In the imp: Ooh. Definitely getting the yuzu-grapefruit! Wet: A little sugary, but still zesty fruity. Dry: This isn't at all what I'd have expected from the name at all, it's bright and fresh and not at all sharp as I'd have guessed from the scent notes. Good pick-me-up fragrance

    Obatala

In the imp: Sweet coconut Wet: Creamy, sweet coconut. Dry: It's gone slightly aquatic, but mostly it's coconut. Really comforting and clean.

    Dirty

In the imp: Floral and clean. Sorta air freshener-y Wet: Same. Dry: It's very light and airy. It still smells a bit too like air freshener or fabric softener, so this is one to go in the oil burner pile.

    Jazz Funeral

In the imp: Fresh, clean florals. Sweet, with a slight hint of dirt. Wet: Really similar to Deep In Earth, with sort of fruity florals. Not getting the booze though. Dry: This doesn't change much on me between the bottle and drying. It's like a white version of Deep In Earth. White flowers usually don't work on me at all, but this is fine. It lacks something though, I can;t put my finger on what.

    Iago

In the imp: Almost alcoholic, masculine. Me and vetiver really don't get on :| Wet: Leathery Dry: This actually dries to something wearable. Pretty much everything in here usually smells terrible on me, but this is like a soft, musky leather with a bit of sweetness. Probably not a keeper, but surprisingly good.

    New Orleans

In the imp: Floral but slightly herbal. Think that may be the honeysuckle. Wet: Powdery, there's something strange and medicinal going on too, eek. Dry: Floral, pleasant, but sort of nondescript? It's light, so it's not turning my stomach like most honeysuckle/jasmine blends do, it just doesn't do anything for me. Perfect if you love honeysuckle though, that's definitely the most prominent note on me.

    Viola

In the imp: Lovely and rosy! Wet: It's slightly powdery on, but basically the same as in the imp. Dry: Sweet tea rose. I'm not getting any myrrh () or mandarin and more importantly NO SANDALWOOD! I'd never have chosen this one for myself based on that, but I'm so pleased with it, I may well buy a full bottle in the future.

    Ogygia

In the imp: Aquatic, clean, slight;y sharp. Wet: Something smells slightly like Biro ink. I wouldn't have guessed any of the notes here apart from the sea air and kelp. Maybe juniper, if I really think about it. Dry: I love this! Another one for the post-bath relaxing pile. It's so clean and fresh, and beautifully blended - I have a hard time picking out individual notes from it.

    Voodoo

In the imp: Marzipan. This bodes well! Wet: Tangy marzipan. Dry: Oh. My skin appears to have eaten this one All I get is a ghost of almonds and vanilla, it's such a real shame, I love all the notes in this.

    Mary Shelley

In the imp: Like a bottle of alcohol you've had for ages and rarely drink. Not at all like absinthe, weirdly. Wet: I get the sliiightest hint of absinthe now, but something creamy is throwing my nose off and I don't know what that could be. Dry: Bright and absinthey. I don't actually get any of the perfume scent with this, but it does a great job of evoking the description. Fresh and unusual, but not one I'd wear.

    Ranger

Untamed wilderness: buckskin accord with Terebinth pine, Russian birch, black ironwood, elder bark, hay, armoise, juniper, patchouli, galangal root, Spanish moss, and cabreuva. In the imp: Pine and moss Wet: Pine, moss, juniper and I think the hay sweetening the mix. Dry: Not one for me. It's gone all leathery and woody. It's not unpleasant, just totally not my thing.

    Once Upon a Time

I bought this in the hope that the lavender would be way back in the mix because the other notes were too good to pass up. In the bottle: straight, herby lavender. Uh oh. Wet: Minty?? That's weird. I like it. Second sniff and the lavender is gone, seems to be going the sweet, herby way I'd hoped it would. Dry: very soapy. The lavender is peeking back in, but the other notes are mostly lost in the soapiness, which is a shame. There's the slight suggestion of chamomile, but it's like handmade chamomile soap more than anything else. Still, it's a lovely one though and the lavender is mild enough not to give me that sicky feeling, so I'll keep it as an out-the-bath-into-bed scent.

    The Magic Circle

In the bottle: Powdery jasmine. The jasmine is the only thing I think might cause problems with this one, but the other ingredients were too good to pass up. Wet: Not so powdery now, I think the sage and myrtle are coming through. Dry: Mostly jasmine sambac, but it's not as stomach churning as I usually find it to be. Not sure about this one, hopefully aging will bring out the frankincense and oudh and the jasmine will calm down.

Départ Pour Le Sabbat (Aufbruch Zum Hexensabbat)

In the bottle: Amazing creamy sweetness and a touch of bourbon. Wet: Very much like toffee Dry: Smoky and creamy, it sort of reminds me of honey Jack Daniel's minus the alcohol sharpness. (not sure what's going on with the formatting here)
  19. d0gbones

    Dawn: Mother

In the bottle: Syrupy roses Wet: Roses and a tint bit of frankincense Dry: Like a sweeter version of Ruined Roses, which is one of my favourites.
  20. d0gbones

    Van Van

In the imp: Slightly bitter and herbal. Wet: Weirdly foody. Like a lemon drizzle cake. Dry: The foodiness is all gone and it's a nice, light, sweet herbal. I'm not familiar with sweet grass so I don't know how this compares. It's not quite enough for me to wear as a daily perfume, but it's a nice cozy scent and I like to use those after a long bath so chill me out for the evening. Won't by a full bottle, but Ill definitely use the imp up.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

In the imp: Bubblegummy frankincense?! Wet: Same, the frankincense is the stronger scent. Dry: This faded SO quickly on me, all that's left is a scent like Juicy Fruit gum after you've chewed it a good while.
  22. d0gbones

    Shattered

In the imp: Sweet mints. A bit like toothpaste. Wet: Sharper and sightly grapefruity. Dry: This smells just like a scented candle I had when I was younger, so it's a nice, comforting scent for me. I don't think I'll wear it, but I'll definitely use it in an oil burner or perhaps a room spray. It's mostly mint and grapefruit, but sweeter rather than sharp.
  23. d0gbones

    Little Flora

In the imp: Delicate florals. Wet: Much more distinguishable as peonies now, but no cream yet. Dry: The cream never did appear, but the peonies are sweeter now. I'm not usually into any floral that isn't rose-based, but this is really nice and to me fits the character perfectly.
  24. d0gbones

    Miles

In the imp: Pepper and balsam Wet: Strong pepper. Like, a foody pepper rather than the usual BPAL pepper, which makes it hard to tell what else is going on in there. Dry: This one's the most masculine of the series and my least favourite, but it's still really nice. The pepper is just a bit too much for me, without it though it'd smell like a generic cool men's fragrance.

    Mrs. Grose

In the imp: Cinnamon and a touch of rose. Wet: General spices and black tea. Dry: This smells more like a tea blend than a perfume and I love it. It's not overly rosy and the cinnamon is in there but the spices are more clove-y dry.
