  1. Smelled like honeyed fruit in the bottle. Wet on skin= honeyed nectarines! Dry down very similar to the wet phase, powdered honey and nectarines with a soft fade to benzoin powder that is somewhat like vanilla. Low to medium throw factor. Lasted about six hours and very little changes over the drydown. This is bottle worthy for me. I did not get any booze or cognac notes and I tend to amp those. I love this, it captured the idea of ambrosial nectar for me. The honey is sweet and light.

  2. Okay, another review for the 2014 version, in case you were contemplating it.

Go easy on me, I am a noob reviewer, but I am doing this in the interest of science, yo!

In vitro: hmm, fruity, almost drinkable, delectable, is that pineapple or maybe honeydew melon? and slightly sweet, maybe vanilla, it smells like fruity juice with an undercurrent (slight) vanilla extract

Wet: wish I could capture the wet phase longer, but I get a blend of mostly fruit (can't decide between tropical citrus or melon, a hit of vanilla, a lesser hint of mint, spearmint perhaps, and a wood, maybe cedar, but not quite I am guessing fir or spruce it isn't pine or cedar

Drying: The wood note amps for a minute or two, then I get the ozone/fabric softener sheet smell, and I can't unsmell it, it is quite dominant

Drat, this note may kill the blend for me--it may be my skin chemistry

If I hold my arm away I get the sweet, snow note, slightly fruity, aquatic, with a *hint* of spearmint, but if I lean in close I get fabric sheets--BAH! with soft, almost, but not quite vanilla, powdery resinish fluff note

Final drydown is a mixture of that ozone note (it really amps on me, drat) hints of the fruity component, less hint of vanilla, the fir or wood note, and finally, dead last, a hint of vanilla

As a prior reviewer said, it smells much better at a distance...then, more like citrusy, minty aquatic slush/snow note

I am hoping aging will improve the ozone note, so I will report back. The note that is mysterious and amping is somewhat between ozone, clean fabric softener, and a pretty powder similar to the powder dry down of Snowflakes, so I am hopeful that aging this will get us closer to that note.

Edit: I tested again, a year later than my first reviews and I am happy to report that the ozone note that made this blend off putting has aged out. Initially this is that sweet, slightly fruit, slightly evergreen, slightly mint, slightly vanilla, and a touch of hairspray or dryer sheets that is my nose trying to pick apart the components of "Lab snow.". It's delightful! It dries to a nonfoody vanilla kissed powder with a hint of spearmint and amber. More mint than" Snowflakes, " but very similar. It's become one of my favorite snow scents.

  3. Is all mint problematic for you? What have you tried so far?

I like spearmint and most mint but not wintergreen and I'm shy with eucalyptus but I love Ultraviolet so go figure! I cannot recall Yule's I've sniffed except Snow White which I loved and Jolasveinar, which I liked. I love the Carpathian Mt. so evergreen is fine, I love fir, pine, spruce, and juniper.

I just want to avoid smelling like I'm wearing Ben Gay or Icy Hot arthritis ointments!

I like cold, e.g. Urania and ozone is okay but strong white florals scare me. Narcissus and lily in small amounts are okay.

    bumping this thread

love the honeycomb in No 93 engine, but getting through the wet phases isn't my jam

any ideas for a more pure honey comb scent or honey wax scents with little or minimal intereference from other resins

combo with floral (if it isn't WOAH, HELLO floral!) or herbal is okay

if its smells like the fresh honey out of a raw honey comb, that would be perfect

please don't say single note honey, as I would have to pawn a kidney to get that

Quintessence of Dust is very beeswax-forward, at least on me.

I was totally eyeballing that oil. TY! So many oilz to try...

  5. Five dark, aggressive, furious musks with ambergris bouquet, Malaysian rainforest plant extracts, black amber and orange peel.

In vitro: (I got a big bottle on general principle as I love orangutans): very musky, like wet fur
Wet on skin: (admittedly, I slathered) musky with a citrus twist--I can definitely appreciate the orange "peel' very similar to the scent when someone is peeling one in the room--but it is not IN YO FACE citrus
First 20 minutes or so: Very musky, I can tell there are a variety of musks in here, it smells animalistic for lack of a better word without smelling skunky or fecal (I am the rare person that doesn't mind that kind of thing and I love the honey notes that go musky or urinal, hey, must be a fetish) but that doesn't happen here, it just smells like fur to me or the warm smell of animals (I imagine monkey fur, but I really have no frame of reference there, sorry)

I get whiffs of what I think of as green, plant notes evoking the leaves in a rain forest, but no aquatic or mist notes, no rain, just lush green almost floral green notes. THis may be my nose interpreting the ambergris, not sure I can smell it, I don't get anything salty or fishy. For the record, I do really like ambergris, but I never smelt it here.

Dry down, and here comes the amber! I am too much of a noob to tell black amber from other types but this is a mellow amber with a little bit of the musk left to add complexity. And, the orange has circled back in the loveliest way.

WOW, this is so wonderful. IF you love musk and amber blends, please give this a try. I was fortunate to score it on the lab's etsy site. I don't do 5 star ratings or such, but this is just heavenly. My ranking scale would be something like, I hate it, I don't hate it, its meh, I sort of like it, I like it, I love it, I love it and I am worried I may run out, and GOTTA HAVE IT This scent would be in the gotta have it category.

Edit: 5-6 hours later I smell the ambergris. It just kept getting better and better.♥

    Game of thrones:

    Cersei: Hellcat

    Jaime: Sin

    Jon Snow: Black Forest

    Dany: Dragon Blood

Tyrion: no, not Imp. He wears Sed Non Satiata

    Catelyn: Prurience

I'll think of the others later.

    ooh fun.

    Ned Stark: Highwayman

    Catelyn: Whoso List to Hunt

    Jon Snow: The Black Rider

    Arya: Anne Bonny

    Sansa: The Lady of Shalott

    Joffrey: Whitechapel

    Cersei: Hunger

Jaime: The Bow & Crown of Conquest

    Tyrion: Perversion or Wilde

    Littlefinger: Envy

    The Spider: Viola

Drogo: Wild Men of Jezirat al Tennyn

    Danaerys: Dragon's Milk

Viserys: Wrath, or The Sea Foams Blood

Now all I want to do is curl up and read...

    Love it!

    my thoughts:

    Cersei: Tsiphone

    Jaime: Golden Priapus

    Tyrion: Santo Domingo

    Sansa: Phobos

    Arya: Gnome

    John Snow: Black Forest

    Daenerys: Dragon's Milk

    Drogo: Coyote

Sorry guys, I think "The Lion" (MTP) is Tyrion's scent. But I have always seen him as a Lion. Golden Priapus is perfect for Jaime.

    We need some for

    Roose Bolton

    The Hound

    Brienne the Beauty

    Ser Jorah

    Reagar Targaryen

    Robb Stark

    Tywin Lanister

  8. Any ideas for a dupe for BBW Sweater Weather? I love the room spray, would love to wear the scent. Notes includeSweater Weather – A cuddly blend of eucalyptus, juniper berry and fresh sage

I am pretty darn sure there is some amber in there as well or perhaps musk as it has a top, herbal/evergreen note that is probably the juniper, eucalyptus and sage but then there is a resinous, warm note that is musky and "sunny" like frankincense or more likely an amber??

  9. Okay, this is my first review and given the paucity of single notes I have tried, I am not the best at picking out single notes, so with that caveat here goes

Preconceived notions: engine, steamworks, should be interesting, artificial smelling perhaps, mechanical

In vitro (imp): yellowish oil, average viscosity, smells medicinal (like rootbeer or cola?) and slightly smoky (like oil burning)

In vivo, wet, first few seconds: sharp, evergreen note [perhaps balm of Gilead? perhaps it reminds me of the resin of evergreen trees, but having never smelled single note balm of Gilead, I have no frame of reference]

Development wet to dry: actually smells like smoke coming from the oil burning in an engine and captures the "spirit" of the scent's theme very nicely, a single note I wondered what it was, guessed fennel, it must be the white sage

Base notes: becoming sweeter, more vanilla-resin, me thinks this is benzoin as I enjoy that note. At this phase I think it is equal blend of the herby notes (sage and resinous evergreen notes, a hint of cola/medicine/rootbeer/sassafras? with the benozin which is sweet and vanilla like). As it dries further it reminds me a bit of snake oil with resin (maybe that is all I get of the honeywax candles), but later, I get more of the frankincense and none of the honey comb (womp, womp)

Affinity and final thoughts: I was surprised by this one as i expected herbal honeycomb and got resinous vanilla rootbeerish herbal. I must conclude that frankincense in a blend is going to trump other resin and organic notes. I really wish I had gotten the honeycomb that others perceived, but I can perhaps layer with an oil that has more honey and needs complexity. I really enjoy herbal scents, benzoin and frankincense so this is going to be a keeper, and I will probably hoard imps. I am contemplating a partial bottle, however, there are many I enjoy that will take precedence over this. Overall, I do think this captured the idea of Number 93 Engine olfactorily. Bravo Beth!

Edited: 3 hours after application, the frankincense calmed a bit and the honeycomb came out--I am in honeycomb heaven! BIG BOTTLE on this one!!!!!! I love this pure, dry, sweet, slightly waxy comb with a hint o' honey

  10. nervous energy this morning - finished updating the Lupers BPTP update, and added the new Alice and Emerald City (and Lunacy) - think it's up to date.

(as ever, ignore the color coding, and column A, that's all personal notation)

Thank you for the scent list with descriptions and categories. As a person who has been out of the game for a while and lost a substantial portion of products (long story), this will help me with slowly rebuilding the lost precious. Thank you very, very much. Your attention to detail is helpful and impressive in the extreme.
