  1. Amazing, spicy but velvety, it creates a sort of spicy soft aurea around me...despite the name I like wearing now in summer, it's an hot scent that marries in a good way the warmth of the weather and also is more detectable on the skin which obviously now is barer...

If you Know Lutens parfumes , this scent has somehow the same vibe of Bois et fruits which I loved before converting to oils...

Overall I like puddin scents...like also the figgy puddin...

  2. I don't have altogether too many violet-based scents, but I do have both Nocturne and Queen Gertrude, and violet is one of my favorite notes.

Nocturne smells almost identical to the violet candies I've had before, no joke. I'm not sure what about it goes so sweet on me, but it seriously smells like violet candy. I really adore it, actually; it's not the strongest scent in the world, but it's so damned pretty that I would like to get a bottle of it. It also seems to give me nice dreams if I put it on before I sleep, which is definitely a plus, in my opinion. It's dreamy and soft and I would really recommend it, honestly, if you like violets. And if I could translate a scent into imagery, this would be something like a desaturated lilac-colored fog drifting over a hazy meadow of violets.

Then Queen Gertrude is definitely sharper, by far. I do like it, but it's almost intimidating. In some ways, it's very similar to Nocturne, but it definitely has more of a bite to it, I'd say. This one I'd describe more as a field of violets, frosted over, just in sight as the sun's about to rise. It has an edge to it, somehow, and while I wouldn't wear it as much as Nocturne, I do still definitely like it.

I also have a vial of Bruised Violet Compound, but I've yet to try it- I'll try to get around to it tomorrow, if I remember.

I second Nocturne, a pretty violet, not a great persistence or envol, but it's nice, warm and gentle and reminds me Meterorites by Guerlain both the parfume and the powder

  3. I find it very nice, almond and vanilla...in Italy we make a cake named "Mimosa", it's made with cream of vanilla and pieces of pan di spagna which figures the small pieces of mimosa flower....so Comparison is this delicious cake made scent....I'm a foodie scents lover so i cannot not love it! :wub3: happy to have a bottle of it...

  4. I've read the thread of leather but I'm quite confused...which is the closet kind of leather of Loviatar, dry but creamy at the same time, dirty but not too much, a perfect balance of the components clean dirty, wet dry, rought classy ..I like very much The white rider, dry and sophsticated, like Dee but too much vetiver in it...but which oil I find in the general catalogue, easy to find, similar to Loviatar?

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Buttery vanilla, but mostly condensed milk...it reminds me Gollettes althought I like Gollettes more than Boo which has a sort of weirdness, rottness....Gollettes is softer and gentler...but substantially they are very similar..I have to say hat I expected more reading the reviews...but it's ok...

  6. A buttery note of coffee, I like it but have to retest...it becomes dry, woodsy in the drydown, too much for my tastes...my children who are my judges for all my parfumes say it is like sniffing used socks...I don't really understand why they detect this sensation ...for me is coffe just made in the opening and the power of coffee in the drydown...overall not sure if I like it or not.

    Verdict:3/5

  7. Another great discovery!

I was a little bit sceptical, at first...as put in on is a quite strange parfume, a little acrid, some kind wet and resinous...but I'm Knowing day by day bpal oils and never say never with them....you have to wait...something could seem not your cup of tea at first, but I 've understood they open minute by minute, they morph ...so, uhmmm don't like it, at first...but durrng the envol I have discovered another gem of beauty ....in the middle stage is a soft combo of rose and mhyrr, so soft and smooth..the drydown is one of the most wonderfull musk I've tried....I recommend to musk lovers!

    A bottle for sure!!

    Verdict 5/5

  8. This is one of my favourite bpal !

So subtle, so sexy, so comfortable, so intimate, it's simply me!It doesn't matter the notes, is the blend that is so unique itself....lovely...a bottle for sure!

Bpal oils are really strange, there are some I find totally terrificant, but there are many of them that are really gems, and K.K.is one of them..

  9. For me O is an istant love!

Sex in the bottle, dirty and sweet at the right point...I was a bit scared, it was a blind buy, but I 'm so happy that the chemistry of my skin blends well the ambery and honeyed notes of O...another great addiction in my collection of most beloved

Overall it's a very linear fragrance that could be perfectly layered with others, giving more deapht and a musky skinscent undertone

    Rated 4.8

  10. I've tried so many musks in my parfumed life that I can say for sure it is one of the best ..

It's salty, animalic in not a bad way, no fecal notes, only a mature and quite masculine skin scent salty and vaguely sweet, not powdery at all on me...it ha s a great longevity and it 's a comfortable parfume , you can wear everyday layered with some other bpal...but I like skin scents so I'll wear it alone...for a musk lover a must have!

  11. Dark, spicy, animalic: Nagdi frankincense, bois de cade, beeswax, Somalian myrrh, and Laotian oudh.

Heretic is like the name....it is a man black dressed, in the oscurity of Middle Eve, mysterious, enigmatic, a solitay man...very masculine in the gender dry but at the same time untuous, creamy but oily, it's a sort of unguent, no sweetnes....sorry but I'm italian and it's quite difficut to explain as I would in english..anyaway it is very very dark, scary, and very simple in its complexity...I like this type of parfumes so I'll wear it with pleasure. Not sure it could like to the most

For those who Know Le labo parfumes it reminds a lot their Patchouli

  12.

So I searched this thread and saw a few rec's for scents that smell like Dior's Hypnotic Poison, but does anyone know of any others that may have popped up since then?

The most recent one I've seen is Vain Sorceress from the Trading Post.

HP is one of the very few commercial perfumes that I love, and I haven't yet found a BPAL that is a total smell-alike. The Girl has a similar feel, but it's crazy hard to find. You should also try The Antikythera Mechanism or Stimulating Sassafrass Strengthener, if you haven't already. But for me, what I love about Hypnotic Poison is that gorgeous dry dusky sandalwood and the sultry vanilla + musk combination - my skin doesn't play out any of the florals or fruit notes at all - so those recommendations may be way off for you, depending on what it is about HP that you love smile.gif

I can suggest without any doubt dragon's Milk...it rensembles very much H.P. by Dior...less sultry but it has the same mood

  13. Too pretty, too white, too clean, too cool...for a lover like me of dark, dusty, warm and oriental parfumes it is not really my cup of tea..same impressions from Snow White, they're very similar in the mood...both are quite aristocratic, frost...anyaway very nice, only not for me....

  14. Dry: fresh, zesty when it opens, I didn't Know the notes but at first and for an hour of development of the envol, I smelled only some like bitter green apples...after reading the notes I can detect white grape wine, fresh and sugary....strange oil, not so parfumey, I really love some bpal oils but I think I couldn't wear this one with pleasure...

In the end it softens in a undetectable sweet green fruit drydown.

    I pass this one.

  15. Very feminine, it isn't my kind of parfume (I prefer Md Moriarty, Snake Charmer etc...darker ones), anyaway it a good alternative for who like but don't suffer Hypnotic Poison by Dior which has a throw and a weirdness for me that makes it unbearable.. very similar to this, but , as Dragon's milk is in oil form, it is more tolerable, it inspires a quiet, "clean" and inoffensive womanity...anyaway very nice, althought not my cup of tea..

In conclusion Dragon's Milk=a lighter and more wearable Hypnotic Poison. it's more centered on vanilla and almond respect to HP
