No scent description available. This smells just like Vicks vapo rub to me. Eucalyptus I suppose? With some mint in the background. It tingles when it hits my skin. As it dries down it still smells like Vicks but not as aggressively. Mostly minty with some eucalyptus-y overtones. It's not a bad scent but I doubt it would get much wear from me as a perfume. edit: As I go back and sniff this I can tell there's some kind of woody scent under all the vick's and mint but it's not all that apparent. I think my nose is broken.

    The Candy Butcher (2015)

Purely chocolate and cream. I was kind of surprised because this is not a sweet scent. There's no sugar in here whatsoever. It's dark, dark baker's chocolate and pure heavy cream. I'm very interested to see how it ages.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Ooh that does sound nice! I'll have to look into it. I have a bottle of Xiuhtecuhtli actually. For myself, though I love it but I don't think it's quite the scent I'm looking for in this instance.

    Milk and Cream Notes

I am SO excited about Reflected Vulva! Little Flora was a surprise hit for me and that's peony (I think) and cream. So I'm kind of expecting it to fall somewhere between Little Flora (for the flowers and cream aspect) and Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, which I also love (for the lovely sweet pea in that and while Mouse's is a creamy scent I don't get actual cream like I do from flora.) I can't remember if I already ordered Love and Sleep or a different one (there were two tied for the spot I was filling) in the small luper order I did. The plan is to make a larger one before they go down.

You guys are awesome! I have an imp of Pele for her and a decant of Moai on the way. I will definitely look into the other things suggested.

    Milk and Cream Notes

A notable entry in the creamy scent category is Young Pine Saplings (Cream, clove, ginger, and honey.) No good for those who can't do honey, but it's all cream with spices on me)

Walk into a florist's shop, inhale deeply...

This is a bit of a necrobump but I just wanted to say that The Host of The Air (Peat and rolling grass-covered hills, with wine-dappled heather, white clover, cloudberry, juniper berry, bluebell, dandelion, and cross-leaved heath.) is totally a flower shop smell to me. It has that wet, green stem scent.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

I'm trying to put together a Hawaii themed perfume pack for my mom's birthday in April. She fell in love with the islands after going there on a business trip. She said that scents that smell like Hawaii to her would be the fresh, clean breeze that's always blowing there (what she said was Hawaii doesn't really have a smell because the breeze is always blowing so the scent of Hawaii would be fresh, clean breeze with a hint of fresh pineapple), the scent of macadamia and vanilla waffles she ate at a B&B there, and orange-mango juice she had with breakfast (she says orange juice with a little bit of mango juice mixed in). I already have some scents that seem to evoke Hawaii and tropical feelings (Starring's plumeria SN, a variety of Violette Market's Hawaii/Oceania scents, BPAL Pele, hi'iaka, moai, and Orange Thyme's Thai Coconut) but I'm now looking for these three things in particular. Thanks!

Let me just say that this is a beautiful scent! I usually kind of ignore the protos because if there's only a very small number of bottles in existence, why torture myself by falling in love with something I won't be able to easily get. But, I'm glad I took the chance on this one and swapped a wonderful forumite for it because it is SO good. Also, this is a huge morpher. In bottle: Incense-spicy. Wet: This blooms right away into a light incense scent with a light woody component. It smells like an incense stick, wood and all. This scent also brings to mind that pagan-bookstore scent that's so distinctive. In the wet stage this smells just like that bookstore scent. As it's drying it gains a slight berry note, like a berry-scented incense stick. And soon after it gains very slight floral undertones. This is a seamlessly blended, very smooth blend. It moves through all its different stages so fluidly. Within maybe 10 minutes of application an ever-so-slightly floral cinnamon note comes to the forefront. In another few minutes the blend smells like cinnamon candy (like Red Hots, but less burny-spice) with the incense behind and a soft pink floral component. Dry: this is so different from the bottle and wet scent. It's more of a soft pink floral than anything. It's not the kind of floral that amps to screeching high heaven on my but the kind of softness that the florals on Mouse's Long And Sad Tale have. (except this isn't sweet pea. I don't know what it is, but it's not sweet pea.) This ends up being a scent that doesn't throw terribly far. It sticks close to the skin. Long wear: This ends up as a soft berry-floral. It seems like it's going to stay here. Overall, very nice! I kind of with it kept more of the incense note from the beginning, but it's a beautiful scent I am looking forward to wearing.
  11. Again, not crunchy-sugary but I Fell In Love With A Floating Brain (Spongy grey and pink cake, with sweet strawberry cream, giddy carnation, and electrical pulses of white grapefruit.) is sweet, cakey, and candyish. It should work perfectly on me, I love all the notes in it but the strawberry goes plastic like some of the lab's strawberries do. Anyway, worth a try at least.

    Sleepytime BPAL

I don't particularly like lavender either but TKO, especially if it's aged some, turns to sweet, fluffy lavender marshmallow on me. I love it. I have an oil from another company that smells very similar but I'm not sure I'm allowed to post non-BPAL recs here. As for scents that are nice and cuddly that aren't necessarily meant for sleep: I second Morocco (It's really cuddly warm vanilla with soft spices on me) and I don't think anyone's mentioned Mouse's Long And Sad Tale (Vanilla, two ambers, sweet pea and white sandalwood.) To me, it's a very similar vanilla to morocco but with a soft sweet pea instead of spices. Florals are really iffy on me but the sweet pea is toned down enough that it's nice. It might be a bit hard to find but Ivanushka (Soft, velvety fur and warm musk, brushed by forest woods and dusted by dry leaves.) is totally cuddly fur on me. I like to wear it when it's cold out because it's so warm and soft and comforting.
  13. I don't think anyone has mentioned Blue Lollipops yet (Preschool graduation celebration! Blueberry-swirled blue lollipops!) it's not so much crunchy sugar or cotton candy but it is very sweet. It smells like blue raspberry lollipops taste.

I Feel the Need! (For Smells)

Your Description of Giant Vulva made me think of Young Pine Saplings (Cream, clove, ginger, and honey.) which is another Luper from I *think* the same year. I know for some people the cream went sour and it threatens to do that to me sometimes but for the most part it's cream with soft spices and a touch of golden honey. It sounds like the Lupers might be a good place for you to start. A lot of them have a similar feel to them. That creamy, skin scent with flowers thing that only every once in a while works for me. But if that's the feel you're going for maybe try the Lupers, especially the Shungas. If you don't mind a little leather in the mix maybe try Sara Pezzini (A hint of leather and an understated vintage musk layered over the scent of lightly perspiring, honey-dusted skin.) For me it's mainly "honey dusted skin", which is a perfect description for that scent, with a tiny bit of smooth, warm leather.

    Blood Rose

I got a bottle of this in a swap, according to my swap partner it was aged 4+ years. Which is kind of the only reason I wanted it because fresh dragon's blood is awful on me. From this scent I got a smooth, velvety red rose with a base of dragon's blood. I guess four years is enough aging because this dragon's blood was kind of cherry-fruity but it didn't go into fake cherry cough syrup and floral hell like the fresh kind does. As I wore it the rose kind of fades a bit and melts into the dragon's blood. Overall, I really like it. Kind of surprising for two iffy notes on me.

    Haute Macabre

In bottle: WHEW! That is strong! Some kind of very dark leaves/plant. The oak, I guess? And a hint of leather. Wet: Still dark green plants and leather. Maybe a hint of patchouli? As it's drying something... sharp? joins the mix. I'm not a fan of this scent. Drydown: Yeah, I'm pretty sure this one goes into the swap pile. I wish I was getting more leather ans patchouli from this. It is soooo strong! When I put a little on to test and walked into the room where my mother was she said "What do you smell like? from across the room. I told her the scent description and she said she smelled the almond the most. I didn't get a whole lot of almond from this but, different noses.

    Nefarious Plan Bath Oil

Note: I use my bath oils as moisrizers. In bottle: some kind of musk and patchouli. This is new-ish patchouli, it still has a bit that dirty-sharp smell new patchouli has On skin: Patchouli and tobacco. As it dries/soaks in, the caramelized sugar starts to come to the forefront. It's not caramel, it's definitely browned sugar. Like, you know how they caramelize sugar with a little torch, yeah like that After a little while just a tiny hint the orange blossom shows up under everything else. All in all it's a nice scent that will probably get better with age, but I'm not sure I love love it right now.

    Halloween: Las Vegas

After owning this bottle for so long, I'm finally getting around to testing it. In the bottle: Very grapey, fruity red wine and something that smells like... leaves? Autumn leaves not spring leaves. Wet: Still super fruity red wine but now there's just a little hint of Snake Oil weaving its way through the blend. There's also a kind of wood note that I can't quite place. There's no alcohol scent in this. Like, the wine smells grapey and fruity and distinctly red wine. But it's missing thr alcoholic edge that you'd smell if you were actually sniffing a glass of wine. Drydown: As it dries the Snake Oil gets stronger and more present and a dusty kind of note shows up. Dry: The fruity red wine is still the strongest note here. Underneath it is a sort of warm, polished golden wood note. And, of course, the Snake Oil. Long wear: I got zero cake or frosting or anything sweet really out of this until it had been on my skin for half an hour to an hour (I wasn't keeping close track of the time.) The drawback being that I either got used to this scent really fast (and can't smell it anymore) or its staying power is not that great. The wine note in this really reminded me of Giallo from Dark Delicacies' horror movie line a few years back. I put Giallo on my other arm to compare and the wine note is pretty much where the similarities stop. Giallo is deep and smoky-incensey, definitely a dark purple scent. While Halloween: Las Vegas has that similar wine but it's much lighter and sweeter. But, if you like one, you should probably check out the other.

    Miss Lupescu

I ordered this from the lab months ago (if not a year ) and I have just gotten around to testing it. Whoops Anyway: In the bottle: Wow, that's certainly... something. From the bottle all I get is dry woods and...cherry? (though reading the scent description again (I test without looking at the notes first, usually) that cherry smell is probably almond. Wet: This is very... astringent. That's kind of a bad word to use. This actually really reminds me of The King of Hearts when it's super fresh. The lavender and cherry in KoH smells very similar to Miss Lupescu at this stage. I don't think Miss Lupescu has any lavender in it but it has that astringent, slightly herbal thing that I associate with fresh lav. I don't particularly like lavender but I can put up with in blends where it isn't so prominent and it's not brand new and hasn't had a chance to mellow. Drydown/Long wear: As this dries down, it gets creamier and less sharp but it's still not a scent I can really see myself wearing.

    Black Opal

In the bottle: cool vanilla with a bit of some minty note that I can't identify. Wet: Pretty much the same as the bottle scent. Creamy vanilla with a bit of something minty. This scent is really weak. I don't know if that's the scent itself, or if I didn't apply enough, or because I'm testing another scent on my other hand and it's overpowering the Black Opal or the other scent is stuck in my nose so the more delicate Black Opal isn't really coming through. Drydown: Melty vanilla ice cream in a cold glass bowl. That's the image that comes to mind when I smell the dry/almost dry version. I know we already have a melty vanilla ice cream scent but this smells nothing like Detestable Putrescence. (DP went to plastic on me I wanted to love it but it didn't agree with me.) Dry/long wear: Ahh, okay, the vanilla shows up in force now. It reminds me of the vanilla in Antique Lace but with A minty layer where Antique Lace has a linen/dried flowers layer. I think I need to do another test of this one, A full test, before I decide whether to keep this bottle

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

CDLIX (459) Man, this one is a morpher! In bottle: some kind of boozy note with a creaminess that isn't cream. If that makes sense... Wet: Whoa, I'm definitely getting Dorian vibes from this one. The main scent right now is that really distinctive tea with lemon and sugar that I get from Dorian. As it dries it's still Dorian-y but some kind of effervescence in the background. Drydown: The dorian-y lemon sugar tea scent has faded into the background (but definitely still there) and in the forefront there's some kind of creamy nutty smell that I can't place. Also, a kind of light musk has showed up. I know I keep saying it but it smells like the light musk that's in Dorian (Is there musk in dorian? I feel like there is) This ends up being a creamy nutty scent with whiffs of Dorian. And I know this isn't a CT from the Dorian series . Maybe someone was experimenting with GC-based CTs?

    Faery Shoppe

It is! But many, many people also think so. It's not that it's impossible to get but finding one in the swaps/sales is tricky. Mostly a lot of luck, being in the right place at the right time, and having something equally rare and/or that the person really wants. To me, it really does have the same vibe/feeling that Snake Oil does. It's a bit more complex IIRC, but sometimes simple is better. I know that for me sometimes a scent with a paragraph long components list is just too complex and just makes the scent seem muddled. Taken to the extreme, I can't resist single notes. Why? I dunno. Even if it's a scent I'm not particularly sure I'd like, I have to have it because it's a single note. To each their own though.

    Faery Shoppe

I'm pretty sure I know the smell you're talking about. There used to be a metaphysical/magic-y shop near me that had the kind of scent you're describimg. It's very distinctive. You might try layering more than one scent to get the desired combination. Like for the incense-y component try: Snake Charmer Arabian musk and exotic spices slinking through Egyptian amber, enticing vanilla, and a serpentine blend of black plum, labdanum, ambrette, benzoin and black coconut.) (that one's pretty rare though. People like to hang on to their bottles because it's good!) Snake Oil Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla. (This one smells similar to Snake Charmer and has the added benefit of being available to buy from the lab) Scherezade A master storyteller who possessed unfailing courage and compassion, a sharp, quick wit, and a true understanding of human nature. Saffron and Middle Eastern spices swirled through sensual red musk. Snake Oil and Scherezade also have that incense-y thing going on and they're GC. There's also Snake Oil hair gloss and (I think) bath oil if you don't want to put two perfumes right on top of each other. For the "books" component you could try: The Buggre Alle This Bible Crumbling paper and ancient cracked leather with a touch of tobacco leaf and incense. Aziraphale Ethereal musk, blonde woods, and dusty Bible accord. Both of those are from the Good Omens series. There are other book type scents but they're not coming to mind right now. Green planty type scents aren't my favorite so someone else will have to help you with the "outdoorsy" part. I'd start with Rappaccini's Garden as a place to look. There are also plenty of scents that have a dirt/soil component (which I really dislike in my perfumes so you'll have to get recs from someone else on that front too ) Some other ones that might fit into this theme: Dee His scent is soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods. (Dee smells herbal-y to me. Not sharp, intense, freshly cut herbs but the leather rounds it out and mellows it down) If you specifically want dragon's blood look in the Ars Draconis section. Those scents are all dragon's blood all the time. The vast majority if not all the scents in that section have dragon's blood as a base with other notes overtop. WHEW... Sorry that got a little out of hand. I hope some of it helps and doesn't confuse you too much

    Wicked Matriarch

In the imp: deep rose and light musk. Wet: Rose with a green note coming through. That must be the mimosa. It's smells like the really distinctive note in Succubus. Drydown: This scent is really not as strong as I expected it to be, overall. I'm getting a tiny bit of patchouli but it's very faint. It's mostly rose and mimosa over a light musk. This is a nice scent but I doubt I'll wear it very often.

    Gingerbread Snake

In the bottle: warm gingerbread and powdery spices. I can't quite pin down what spice(es) it is. Ginger? Cinnamon? Allspice? Nutmeg? All of the above? It's very distinctly powdered spices, it has that very slight nose-burning strength that you get if you sniff powdered spices directly. Wet: That same powdery spices with the addition of vanilla icing. I'm not getting any gingerbread at this stage. It's all the spices you'd put in gingerbread dough but it's not a cookie yet. Drydown: Pulverized gingerbread and a bit of vanilla icing. The powdery-ness is still there but the raw spice quality is fading and it's starting to smell like actual gingerbread. I'm really not smelling any of the "exotic Indonesian oils" here. It's all spice and gingerbread. With the vanilla making an occasional small appearance. Though it seems like the kind of scent that will get better with age. I'm not sure I need both the bottles I bought. I might swap one off... (Edit) Long Wear: Ahh, okay. more than an hour after I applied I'm getting the tiniest hint of something Snake Oil-like. I think this is going to need a bit of age on it to really hit it's peak.
