It's been about a week since I received Berry Moon since I had to wait out skin chemistry issues and let it settle. In the bottle: tart blueberry (a la Crawdad Dream) with other berries and musk hiding out underneath. Wet on my skin: Raspberries and musk. Blueberry is gone. Wait a second... *sniff* this smells like... *sniffsniff* ...This is very much like Miller vs. CA at this stage! At the wet stage of Miller vs. CA I got no leather and it was all berries and musk (and a little paper bag ) And, on my skin this is very similar. I'll have to do a side by side comparison of the two. Drying: Still red berries and musk. Fig is nowhere to be found, blueberry is still MIA. Is that the teensyest bit of orange blossom I smell? Dry: Yep... still the same.

This smells very clove-y to me (like it did to some other reviewers) and I tried this blend hoping than the blood accord would behave itself because I really, really don't like blood notes. I do really like the clove-y incense-y spicy part of this blend, and in the bottle that's pretty much all I can smell. Once it's on my skin, that metallic blood smell starts creeping in around the back. It keeps fighting with the spices to see which will dominate the scent. So far the spices are winning but it still has enough of the tangy, metallic blood for me to be iffy about this one getting a lot of wear.

I thought I'd give this one a try since I had an opportunity to swap for it and I was holding out hope that it might be something more than just dirt. Alas, all I can smell is wet, wet dirt... As it dries some faint and promising hints of wood and florals come through. But for the most part, dirt and I don't get along and this is no exception. I really wanted to love it but I'll be sending on to a better home where it will be loved.

Yep, it's exactly what the description says. Cake and currants with a smidgen of vanilla. Very, very tasty.

hee! I opened this thread because I'm going to see Green Day next week when they hit Maryland. (Well, DC actually, but I'm in MD) I default to Snake Charmer for something like that. It's pretty strong on me without being overpowering and will go with my outfit of jeans and T-shirt. So something like that would be my suggestion. Something else I'd consider wearing would be War. It stays true and strong on me for hours (one of the few BPALs besides SC that does) and doesn't need re-application.

I just saw this thread and Centzon Totochtin definitely! If you haven't tried that one already do it now! On me it ended up all blood smell and it was so realistic that I actually had to go to the mirror and check to see if my nose was bleeding! Not really my thing but, yeah. Very realistic and intense.

In the bottle this does smell very much like Thin Mints. When I put it on all the chocolatey-ness goes *poof* and I'm left with a slightly plastic-y vanilla mint. The first time I tried it I washed if off at this stage because to me mint is usually okay but not spectacular in scents and I've tried vanillas that work better for me. But something just kept stopping me every time I thought "I should really put this up for swap." So I decided to give it another try and wear it out through the plastic phase. I'm so glad I tried it again. It dries down to a lovely more-vanilla-than-mint scent that will be very, very nice for warmer summer days. It's vanilla without being too foody or overpowering and the mint is cool and a little sweet. I wish the chocolate part lasted on my skin but I'll take what I can get.

Good Books Recently Read? Just finished Nammah's Kiss. (As one can see from my questionnare, I'm a huge Jacqueline Carey/Terre d'Ange fangirl.) I put The Mists of Avalon aside to read it and it seems I just can't get back into it, so now I'm reading Peony in Love by Lisa See. What are your favorite animals? Or, what animals resonate strongly with you? Ya know, I was waiting for a question like this, because I forgot to include any info like this on my questionnaire. I have a special place in my heart for frogs and snails. (I have a giant stuffed snail that I love named Big Petey after my pet snail and a little flourite frog that my mom gave me on my first day of college.) I'm the girl who saves the snails. And pretty much anything with snails or frogs will get an "awww" out of me. Historical figures: hmmm. There's no one in particular I can think of. Chips: Eh... they're okay. But I don't eat them that often. Beer: I don't drink, so nope. Posters: I have no space! Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with? I’d like to learn how to knit and crochet. Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey.... etc. Honey’s okay but I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed. Are there any kinds of books you collect? I don’t have any specific collections. I’d love a book of pinup art. (I don’t have one) So... favorite kinds of woods (as used in wood art ect.)? Ummm. I don’t know. I do like art made of wood, but I don’t know enough about it that I can of differentiate between the types of wood. Any part of art history/ style of art that you can't get enough of? (eg: Baroque, ancient Egyptian, Victorian, steam punk, modern?) I like some steampunk stuff. Otherwise, I don’t really know enough about art to say what it is I like. It usually I see something and say “Ohhh! I like it!” Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast? I love coffee. You hear me? love. Get that from my dad. I don't have a coffee grinder in my house though so no whole bean for me. All the orphan coffee can come live at my house. So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Would anyone like bath bombs or bath melts scented with one of their favorite Bpal scents? I do these for myself sometimes and find them to be quite enjoyable. I've never tried a massage bar but I've been wanting some LUSH ones for a while, so a BPAL one would be awesome! Basically any bath & body thing that isn't bathtub exclusive will be most appreciated and well-loved. If you were to make a seasonal mix CD for this summer, what would you name it? Probably something boring like "Summer Music Mix" or something like that. I'm not very creative when it comes to being clever with titles and such. Do you collect dolls or miniatures? newp. Are there any single notes (likely non bpal) that anyone is dying to have/try? For wearing: Neroli, Patchouli, Honeysuckle, and Sandalwood and Red Musk come to mind. A lot of my "love" notes on my note likes and dislikes list would probably have SNs floating around out there that wouldn't be too hard to track down. For sniffing: I would find it very helpful to smell many, many SNs since I usually have a hard time picking out specific notes in blends. My fiance sent me an early dvd rip of Coraline that he was given (pretty sure it's not been released yet, but I sometimes have a hard time keeping up) and I was wondering if anyone would like a copy of it? I never saw it but my sister would probably like it... net flick or the likes gift subscriptions? A month of Netflicks vs a DvD? I used to have Netflix and didn't use it all that much. I usually just run up to Blockbuster when I'm in the mood to watch something. I'd rather get a DVD of something you think I'd like than a subscription. About the only crafty thing I can make is beaded jewelry... which all the people I've made it for seem to like so, awesome. As for crafty things I like to get... whooo boy, I could go on. A BPAL box would rock my proverbial socks. The ones I have now are boring. Like scrubs, lotion, massage bars, soap, body wash/shower gel. However I do not have access to a bath tub so bath bombs and other bathtub-exclusive bath goodies are out. Jewelry also gets a big thumbs up in my book. Clearly, vegans are not into soaps with honey or milk, etc. But, if you're not a vegan how would you feel about soaps made with emu oil? Squicked out/concerned about animal cruelty, or willing to try them? (The woman I buy them from uses the whole emu. She sells the meat, sells the feathers, and uses the oil to make soap.) I'm cool with soap made with milk, honey, emu oil (that sounds interesting)... yeah. Are there any of the BPTP bath oils you adore (particularly ones that you cannot get anymore). What about the room sprays? I've never tried any any of the bath oils but I'd really like to try Luxuria and Castitas. (I know, they're the ones you can get all the time, I've just never gotten around to it.) As for atmosphere spray, my favorite that I've tried so far is Goblin of Yuletide Present. I really like Doc. Constantine's Medicine Show too (I'm out of that one, actually), and I'd like to try Okiya and Cathouse at some point. I know you didn't mention the massage oils but I've had my eye on the TKO massage oil for quite some time now....... How would you feel about an ultra-girlie shawl or wrap in summer-weight (lace)? wow! Those are beautiful! I would love to own one of those. (I would just have to keep it in my room, out of the reach of cat claws >.< ) what would you think of hand-dyed items? I don't usually go for tie-dye so much but those are cool. (Especially the black/green/yellow one on that page.) Though if someone had hand dyed it especially for me, I would me much more inclined to wear/use the item in question. So, I hear you don't like lacy wraps! How do you feel about hand-knit socks? Socks are lovely and I would feel quite honored if someone knitted some just for me How many potential witchees have an iPod, or download MP3s? I have an iPod Nano, and buy some tunes from time to time. I still have a butt-ton of CDs that need to be burned into my computer, I just haven't gotten around to it. I got a new iPod recently... and it's far too big for me. You see, I wanted a Classic. And the Classics only come in 120 GB apparently. *grumble* So some awesome mix CDs or something of the sort would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't emailed the lab. I just noticed and I thought I'd ask you all in case it's just a batch variation or something... but the difference is so great, I don't know. I kind of like the light one better, but... *shrug* I don't know what it could it be it it isn't Shub...

I think this is the right place to put this. I searched but I couldn't find a better place. So I just pulled out my 2 lab imps of Shub-Niggurath tonight and I noticed that one is dark red and the other is light yellowish gold in color. I originally didn't like Shub because when I tried it, it smelled like ginger and some funky dirt. I'm doing a side by side (one on each arm) test of them both right now and the red one smells more like I remember Shub smelling like (weird dirt and a little ginger). The yellow one smells much sweeter and lighter. It still has some ginger going on but not much. Here are the imps: (it's actually even lighter than this picture makes it look. At least on my computer. It's very light. Almost clear) So I suppose I'm asking if one of them is mislabled (probably the yellow one...) or just different batches? They're pretty different. In looks and in smell.

i totally forgot about agrat-bat-mahlat. it is such a creamy, sexy apple scent. Agreed. How could I forget about that one!?

Agape (forum-only from January '09) has a distinct apple-y smell to me. In the bottle and wet it smells like fresh green apples and cream. As it dries other fruits come out to play.

This smells exactly like Butter Rum Cookie with juuust a teeny hint of lime. It's even doing that weird smelling like syrup after a while thing that Butter Rum Cookie did. I think I should try this again at a different time of the month because the drydown is nice (underneath the syrup smell) and I think it has potential.

I have to echo the other reviewers and say this is heavy, buttery goat's milk. Unlike any other cream or milk note I've ever smelled from the lab. Barely sweetened and lightened by fig. The myrrh just comes out to warm up the fragrance but overall, it's the goat's milk that makes the scent. I'm really unsure about it, honestly. I think I'll let it sit for a while and come beck and re-test.

In the bottle: molasses... and is that some cream and patchouli I smell lurking back there? Wet on my skin: Almost instantly the moss and green-ness come to the forefront. Backed by the darkly sweet molasses and hint of cream. Drying: Wow... this one morphs like crazy. Now it's all red currant-y and creamy. Dry: Okay... I think it's finally settled to somewhere between the red currant & cream stage and the green earthy, moss and patchouli stage. A bit heavier on the sweet cream. Absolutely lovely and totally wearable. (Keep in mind that I love foody scents, though this one doesn't particularly say "foody" to my nose) I love it and it will be seeing a lot of use, I'm sure!

That's interesting... maybe I'll try diluting it and see if that helps. I have some unscented lotion that might help in the mean time while I get some roller bottles and carrier oil. Thanks!

I had a reaction to El Dia de Reyes this morning when I tried it (for the first time) I have to assume it's the cinnamon because, really... what else could it be? (I mean the scent description for El Dia de Reyes is: Hot cocoa with cinnamon, coffee, and brown sugar) It's weird because I've been using the soap for a while now with no problem. I guess it'll be a scent locket and in-hair scent for me. Maybe my skin reacts to one kind of cinnamon and not another? Is that possible? I can wear Chimera with no problem. I tested Bakeneko and Priala for full days each with no reaction. The only other oil I've ever had a reaction to was TAL's White Light, which smells cinnamon-y to me.

This is the first thing from this update that really jumped out and grabbed me and said "buy me!" So this was an unsniffed bottle purchase for me. In the bottle: this smells like berry wine and a bit of cocoa... wet on my skin: The wine blooms and the spices show themselves. Underneath it all is a base of cocoa that is juuuust barely sweet. So far this is predominantly a spicy wine scent. Drying: More of the same. It's really lovely. Warm spiced wine with a hint of cocoa underneath. Dry: Lovely deep red spiced wine, the tiniest hint of cocoa. This reminds me of another BPAL but I can't put my finger on it. Also it feels more like a cold weather scent to me, but I think it definitely get a lot of use. It's beautiful.
