    Tiresias, the Androgyne

2016 version. I'm not sure why I chose decant over blind bottle with this, because I like all of the notes in this and was positive it was going to be a winner. I've tested it twice now, once right when it landed and again a week later. and.....there's something in here that makes me feel weirdly yet profoundly queasy. damnation and sadness! but I gotta respect the power of perfume.

The search for the perfect Violet....

also since Carnaval Diabolique is now back in town, violet lovers should keep their eyes peeled for Faeu Boulanger. she's a gorgeous violet perfume, not sweet, feminine, lovely. on the cusp of being an aquatic but there was nothing soapy in the slightest about her. nor was she swampy or fungally smelling, so don't let the words "mushroom" or "bog" scare you. FB smells like the ghost of the most wonderful perfume straight out of a mystery or memory. like the love story of a noir film, with the 35mm stock tinted in tones of violet and leafy green.

The search for the perfect Violet....

Grove Street Cemetery, from dark delicacies, is a beautiful violet that isn't sweet. faith is lovely and la befana is fun, but sometimes I don't want any sugar with my violet, which is why i'm thankful that this baby exists.

    Lilac!

I love the lady lucille's bedroom from the post. maybe my favorite bpal lilac of all time (although I admit I haven't run across very many that strike me as strong on the lilac.)

    Death Adder

2016 version: I first sniffed this when it was hot [well, nice and toasty warm, actually] off of the mail truck. it smelled of strong foodie coconut over a light background of spiced vanilla. no vetiver nor opoponax and it felt too foodie for my tastes. tucked it aside for a whopping two days and TA DA this potion has morphed into the most glorious magic. the coconut is still present but more creamy and floral than sunscreen or food. the vetiver and opoponax have come out to play and are adding a touch of dark sexy grit to the whole thing. this is a lovechild cousin to a grievous swarm and goblin. there is a sublime dance between the coconut/vanilla and the darker resins. each perfectly complimenting the other. it lasts a long time but the throw is currently rather low (I'll wager good money that the throw will improve with time). can't stop huffing; this is fantastic stuff.

    Femme Fatale Scents

black annis was one of my first bpal loves and bottle buys. I'm embarrassed that I left her off of my list.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Try searching "olla + eve" under death matching and in reviews. The above aviatrix suggestion was what I pulled from this thread.

    The Thorny Path Atmosphere Spray

a strong and wonderfully smutty patchouli over a leather foundation. I had been hoping for an outdoorsy garden to compliment lord leopold's bedchamber but instead I think I smell his foxy and sinister cousin. neither the rose nor the vanilla stand out strongly. really lovely, hinting towards the masculine. beautiful and morally ambiguous in all the right ways.

The Geisha and the Samurai Hair Gloss

this is a beautiful scent. very soft and subtle. the orange is juicy and pretty but much more subdued here than in bpals like eastern comma or the TAL attraction oil. the amber offers a hint of vanillic woods (sandal?) but nothing really stands out. my nose doesn't really pick up on anything that registers as tea. there's a gentle quality to the whole thing. so far it has layered well with a soft floral bpal, a honey bo and it was sublime with the evergreen resin incense I was heating last night. this reminds me of some of the softer, resin-focused peach pit post offerings, subbing in a shimmery shadow of orange for the peach element. the throw is low and either the scent fades within two hours or my nose just gets used to it and can't detect it. still gonna get a bottle.

    Fluttering Peonies Bath Oil

first applied as a skin lotion: rich and sultry floral with a hint of spice from the carnation. absolutely stunning. then the honey comes out. honey notes can either be sublime or foul on my skin. here, it's pleasant, but overpowers everything and I lose the beautiful flowers. I like this enough to get a bottle of this, but wish that the end result was closer to the wet stage. this ends up being a beautiful honey scent that layers will with some of my more sensual bpal floral scents and also with fruit-focused hair glosses (the peaches, samurai and geisha)

Frau bei der Selbstbefriedigung Bath Oil

viva la chemistry differences. on me, the vanilla cream is very buttery, rich and foodie. although it's not sugared or candy-like, just heavy on the CREAM. it's the most prominent note, followed by the pink rose. very little sandalwood coming through, although I sense it in the foundation of the scent. reminds me of plovers above the waves. I like it and have used it in the tub, but it's too foodie for me to confidently wear it as a lotion.

    The Top

the top is a big scent. sensual, drippingly dark rose over heavy musky incense syrup. when wet, something throws out a slightly off-putting vegetal note: something swampy that's been boiled and left out and is starting to turn. this mischievous note pops in and out for the first few minutes, but doesn't stick around. please do not let the tiny moment dissuade you from embracing what is a very fantastic perfume. as liberamoris states above, this is a rock'n'roll rose; to me it evokes 70's era, drop out of society, hop in a vw van, travel from show to show, name drop indian gurus, experiment with drugs and sex, be vegetarian but wear only an oversized vintage fur coat, make underground comics and sit around surrounded by art under blacklight bulbs. it's not the stinky hippie, it's the rock'n'roll muse/supergroupie smell. it's pretty cool and unlike any other bpal I have tried.

    The Head

this is a beautiful white floral blend. it's rich and bright and nicely balanced. the tuberose is slightly more prominent when first applied, and the gardenia and jasmine take center stage as the scent dries down. I don't get a lot of carnation from this. the benzoin and oudh are also quiet contributors. on me, this is all about the perfect combo of creamy gardenia and sultry jasmine.

    Elizabeth of Bohemia

on me, this is a gentle, smokey rose. rose + oudh! the rose doesn't feel deep and dark and velvety as does the one in peacock queen, nor is it bright and green as in rose red. it's also different from the rose in my beloved london. elizabeth is beautiful and unique among my bpal rose blends. on the dark pink-to-red end of the spectrum, refined, classic and classy, a touch dry due to the smoke. alas, she's a little on the short-lived side, as are a few of my beloved bpal roses.

    The Book

agree with the above that this may be in the family of whip, but is very much a different creature from whip. everything feels softer and lighter: the leather brown and worn, the blooms a dusty pink. it's sweet, gentle and beautiful. the throw is on the light side. it lasts alas only an hour on me. hoping that aging will improve this but sometimes the loveliest rose bpals are fleeting on my chemistry. I really like it, despite its ephemeral nature.

    Under the Mosquito Netting

a beautiful lightly-smokey frankincense blend. the citrus gives it brightness but is subtle. absolutely stunning.

    Ambergris

not so new, but very beloved are Autumn overlooked my knitting and Eldritch drunken constellations. if they don't return in future weenie/yule updates, I'm hoping to spot them on etsy. they are beautiful ambergris scents.

The search for the perfect Violet....

I love fleurette's purple snails. it's my current favorite violet scent. not too sweet and the sandalwood in this scent is sublime.

    Aradia

This is amazing. If so below, banshee beat and antikythera mechanism made a magic baby. Patch/oak sweetened with non-foodie vanilla with a tiny resiny zip from the opoponox. So good.

    Peanut Butter and Jelly!

There was a peanut musk perfume that one could layer with something like papa monster or battle fairy or sticky entrails or the Yule lad with apricot jam and bread... It wouldn't surprise me if this one got a lovecraft miskatonic treatment vs a lilith scent.

    Reel-to-Reels

Jareth is gorgeous, but nothing like Adam. Mmmmaybe Crowley or Leopold freiherr might be close, but Adam is just different. Some of the more nefarious gaiman characters might work: croup or vandemeer, maybe kroenen from Hellboy. But Adam is so clearly that scent. That plasticity tech scent...

    Reel-to-Reels

I checked out some 16mm films from my local library, and the waft of air when I opened the case was exactly like part of the scent of Adam. It was uncanny and magical.

    Reel-to-Reels

There's a scent in the kabuki line, Channel Snow, that is more about tv fuzz and honestly not plasticky like your reeel to reel, but it might scratch your itch. Maybe steamworks scents?
