    Hope and Fear Set Free

Very faint in the bottle, just a tad of bourbon vanilla and frankincense. I like my scents strong so this isn't encouraging. For the first fifteen minutes on me, it smells pretty much the same as in the bottle. Then BOOM! there is a sweet frankincense explosion, grounded by the warmth of the bourbon vanilla. And then it just surrounds me in a cloud of awesome. Well, awesome if you like frankincense.

A World Where There Are Octobers

Huh, I feel like I'm smelling a completely different scent than everyone else! In the bottle, I smell sugar. A little bit of greens but mostly sugar. On me, syrupy sugar and ozone. As it dries it gets more and more ozoney. I don't like sugar scents and I don't like ozone scents and this is like some horrible combination of the two.

    Capax Infiniti

Smells like a lot like "Stinky" to me. A bit like baby powder but way better - fresh and snuggly. This is both warmer and sweeter than Stinky and doesn't seem to have as much throw (though that is rather hard to determine from one's own application). This honey musk is the one that on me often goes sour, but in this it doesn't - it's sour when applied but that immediately fades. I love Stinky but have only ever managed my one bottle, but I will be ordering a second Capax Infiniti.

    Con Cramp Relief Massage Oil

Smells mainly like eucalyptus to me, with a bit of lavender and peppermint. Great to use for massages when you are achey from a cold, as the eucalyptus really cuts through the sinuses. Which is a good thing. My husband and I have both been sick this week with something that involved achey joints, and we've used kind of an appalling amount of Con Cramp Relief.

Miss Emma Benedict's Parlor House Atmosphere Spray

Rosy flowers! I use this A LOT. I kind of adore rose.

    Apple Orchard Atmosphere Spray

Completely unsurprisingly, this smells like apples. Not BPAL's crisp, fresh apple note, but the warm snuggly one from The Hesperides. While The Hesperides wasn't for me, Apple Orchard is AMAZING as a room scent. There's a round, warm wood as well.

    Tomoe Gozen

Huh, how have I not reviewed this? This is one of the few things I have a backup bottle of. Because I really love it. I have to stop myself from buying ALL the Tomoe Gozens I see because that would be really unnecessary. Yet it kind of feels necessary. Anyway. Tomoe Gozen is all juicy red currant (fruity!) with honey. The pink pepper adds a little spice (a lot when it was fresh, but now that it has aged, the pink pepper has been tamed a bit) and the amber keeps it from being too heady. I'm not sure where the blackberries come in - they could be adding to the fruitiness but most other BPAL perfumes with blackberry come across as cat pee to me and I don't smell that in this one. New, this had quite a bit more tartness and spiciness, but aged it is a lot of warm fruity honey. I get the comparisons to Hermia - that's another favorite of mine - but not to Lady Una, which was so cat pee it made me gag and imo is the second-worst BPAL I have ever tried.
  8. The suggestions for similar things that I could find in the review thread were Yggdrasil, Arkham, and Schwarzer Mond. My other recommendation to get something similar would be to find a very woody scent and layer it with a bit of a sassafrasy scent. You may need to layer three, with sandalwood (easily findable in the general catalogue), pine (easily findable in the yule scents), and sassafras (can be found in both GCs and LEs, and I don't know which is best).

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore The Phoenix in Spring to our Easter celebration. Phoenixes seem thematically appropriate for the original intent of the holiday, and it has dandelion in it, which is my bunny's favorite food. But really I just picked it because it smells so nice and springtimey.

    Tombstone

I bought a bottle of this without having enter sniffed it before based on the reviews and the recommendations in the vanilla thread. Wow. In six years of bpaling, I never found the perfect vanilla, which is what I first came here for when my old beloved vanilla perfume ran out. This is very, very close to it, much closer than any other blend I've tried, and much, much closer than Dorian. I will most likely be purchasing a backup bottle, which is something which I almost never do and have never before done for a GC. In the bottle and while wet, this smells very root-beery. It goes through a short bit where I can small the cedar, but not much and it quickly disappears, which is weird because usually I amp woods. That quickly settles down to a warm, friendly vanilla, with hints of the other notes rounding it out. On me it lasts a long time and has decent throw. Yay! I'd definitely recommend it if you like vanilla!

    The Nymphae Avernales

All I get from this is frankincense. Even my fiance was like, "whoa, you smell incensey!" Also, I am allergic to something in it - probably the lilac. I'm not too sad about it because it's way too incensey for me. I didn't get any of the other notes, and it was the same in the bottle as it was all the way through the drydown, pretty much.
  12. Part One Cthulhu: yay or nay? Nay, though I am not opposed to reading some Lovecraft! Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off? Graduate college! Though this is less "putting it off" and more "taking it slowly." Though I DO need to stop putting off homework until it is late! Because if I have not graduated in a year, I will be a sad panda. Put your current mp3player on shuffle, list the first 10 songs: Jimi Hendrix - Wind Cries Mary The Velvet Underground - I Found a Reason Metric - Calculation Theme T-Rex - Left Hand Luke (Acoustic Demo) Cat Power - Evolution Siobhan Donaghy - Revolution in Me Panda Bear - Surfer's Hymn The Beatles - Sun King The Beach Boys - Merry Christmas, Baby (I LOVE their Christmas album! And Ella Fitzgerald's Christmas album! And... Christina Aguilera's Christmas album.) Santigold - Starstruck Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting I think this was in the answer for the first question! Do you have any interest in rocks? With geologic significance! Not really - I get enough of that from my parents. If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? A skinny, long scarf, more light and drapey (because it doesn't get super-cold in Texas!). Actually upon thinking, I'd like green & gold for the Dallas Stars, because hockey games are the main place where my cold-weather clothes get worn! Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? Nope. How do you feel about terrariums? I adore them, but I think anything that requires ANY amount of watering will die a slow, horrible death in my care. We do have one plant that requires watering once a week, and that poor thing only survives because I have an alarm set on my phone. Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? I don't have the time for something like this right now! Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? Sure! I have been wanting Falling Leaf Moon, and I have a Nice tshirt from the last Naughty or Nice inquisition. Generally I don't really like black, but if it's cool enough maybe I will? Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? YES! I had a charm bracelet in elementary/middle/HS but took it off one time in high school and left it in a desk, and never saw it again. I had mostly James Avery charms on it, I think, and I like charms that have to do with my current and past hobbies and interests - ballet/tap/jazz dance, cats, bunnies, politics (do they have political charms), scifi, etc! I may have a bracelet that I could put charms on. If I don't, I could easily get one. What's your favorite horror movie? Does Young Frankenstein count? No? Then I guess The Birds - it's really scary! If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? Red Woods, Sugared Roses, Vanilla Bean What's 'your' song/your theme song? Um, I don't know about a single theme song, but these are ones I identify with for some reason or another (more like a theme playlist): Florence & The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) (if I ever got a word tattoo, it would probably be some lyrics from this song) Wolf Parade - I'll Believe in Anything (I guess if I had to pick a theme song, maybe this would be it? Maaaybeeeee?) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Phenomena (this is my "I'm being awesome!" song) Battles - Leyendecker (my scifi dance club song!) The Beatles - I'm So Tired (ahahahha if I could just have this playing on loop until about 2 pm every day, that would be perfect) Tom McRae - For the Restless Blitzen Trapper - Scifi Kid (the chorus is "I'm just a scifi kid like you." COME ON.) Stevie Wonder - Uptight (this song never fails to make me feel happy) Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming (pretty!) Tom Waits - Hoist that Rag (my fight song) Radiohead - You and Whose Army (my other fight song, wow I have depressing fight songs) Vienna Teng - Hope on Fire (ANOTHER fight song. I like having fight songs.) The Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning (heart heart heart! Favorite ever!) Jay-Z - 99 Problems (for the lols?) Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite? Florence & The Machine - Rabbit Heart Florence & The Machine - Howl - the most accurate description of the way I experience love that I've ever come across. Though I also really love She and Him's "Sweet Darlin'" for the adorableness! AC Newman - Better Than Most - particularly the lyrics "walking wounded through the stars tonight/we wander the plains pointing pistols at the dawn" JJ Cale - Don't Go to Strangers - It's one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've ever heard, and the lyrics are decent too. Vienna Teng - Blue Caravan - "Blue, blue caravan, winding down to the valley of lights, my true love is a man who would hold me for ten thousand nights... Oh my blue, blue caravan, the highway is my great wall, and my true love is a man who never existed at all." Errr, really I just like Florence & The Machine's lyrics it seems! ALSO ALL DAVID BOWIE. I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? Sure! Maybe with lyrics from one of those songs? What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) Living in a large, Georgian-style mansion with a live-in maid and cook, an on-call hairstylist (lord knows I can't do my own hair), furniture that is both beautiful AND comfortable, and the time to nestle down in bed with my fiance and our pets and some good books. How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? This isn't my favorite picture, but it shows the shoes! Dress is Liberty of London for Target, and the shoes are from Shoedazzle. I ADORE Liberty of London. Such fun patterns! Also that is my manthingperson. If you're interested in a handmade pouch/cover for an item you have (phones, tablets, books, keys, kettles...), what would your ideal pouch/cover have? Design, material, additional functionality/features like pockets or lights or secret hidey-holes? Would you like a photo collage based around your interests/favorite colors/favorite themes? Um, I'm not sure what is meant by photo collage. If it's small, then yes! If it's big, then no. If you're crafty, are you interested in spoonfeather? And if so, what things there delight your eyes? I do not know what this spoonfeather is. What is your favorite word? I'm a fan of "clutter." It sounds to me like a bunch of stuff falling on the floor, which is sort of what clutter is like. Also, "graceless." Umm, those are if we're going by the way it sounds. What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? I have never owned any before but my arms always get cold! Do you like tarts? tealights? jar candles? votives? No on all of those - those are more the fiance's thing. So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? (yup, geek question) Well, my feelings about the Sims franchise is that I MUST OWN ALL THE THINGS, but my computer with Sims 3 on it is not currently connected to the internet, due to there not being a hardline run to the room it's in and the wifi card not being able to pick up the signal. Though my laptop, which is at the same desk, can get wifi just fine. So I guess though there's stuff I do want, I don't know how I would get it to my computer until we have the contractor come out and run a cable from the other room to the office. Anyone doing anything cool for Mabon (or the start of fall, if you aren't pagan?) Well, this isn't cool, but I have seasonal affective disorder so every start of fall I get ragingly depressed. And stay that way until summer. But don't worry! I have had this well over half of my life and have found the correct combination of medication and therapy and stuff to make it manageable. What is your favorite coffee blend at Starbucks? If you don't have one, what is your favorite roast of coffee? I do not like coffee. Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? OMG CREEPY SCARY OMG HALP. (Though I would be interested in U.) I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? I do not know of this Cocoa Pink. what's your favorite kind of pizza? Pepperoni & black olive ftw. Who are your style/fashion icons? post pics if you want! Oh gee, I don't know. I like how Kate Middleton dresses. Are there any food items you're craving/aren't able to find around your area? Not that I know of. How do you feel about ethical animal fiber, i.e. wool and the like? I am fine with both ethical and unethical animal products. What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel? eeeeee cute! Look down. What are you wearing, right now? Pajamas - a Mickey Mouse shirt that my friend gave me for my 6th birthday, and some A&F navy striped pajama pants I've had since I was 15. Which makes my entire outfit at least a decade old. Kerchiefs? Sometimes we put them on the dog. Would you be interested in regional jams, jellies, or other preserves? Umm, I don't really ever use those things, except one time I bought bacon jam from the internet, and that was AWESOME. Do you have any bedtime rituals? Is there any particular product you have to apply or a certain shirt you wear or an act you perform to get you in the "bedtime" mood? Well, if by "bedtime mood" you mean going to sleep, then yes - I usually wash my face with either cold cream or Villainess Datura Slick (if I wash it with regular facewash before going to sleep it gets too dry, so I use that in the morning and oil or cold cream at night), put on Paula Begoun's 1% BHA gel, brush my hair, get into pajamas, make sure the bunny has enough hay/food/water and has been let out for the night (and, correspondingly, that all important papers and wires have been put onto high shelves so she can't get to them), check the computer one last time (usually while holding the bunny), then go do a running, flying leap onto my fiance in bed! And then read until I fall asleep. Are you interested in today's/any recent Tee Fury shirts? There are sometimes ones that I like, though I don't think I've bought any though. I have a couple of Shirt.Woot shirts though - for instance this one. Princess Bride? Yay or nay? YAY. Is there any cheesy/non-cheesy Canadian stuff you'd be interested in? Umm, one time my parents brought me these maple sugar candies in the shape of Canada leaves (maple leaves? you know, the one on the flag). They were delicious. Should I be eating them? No. BUT THEY ARE DELICIOUS. Is there anything you're wanting from LPMP? I do not know what LPMP is. say you stumbled into Camp Half Blood (or whatever the Roman camp ends up being named <bounces in anticipation>), which god claims you? I feel I identify most with Hestia or Hera, but of course those goddesses don't have demigod children! So probably Hermes or Athena, with a slight possibility of Apollo. It's funny, it's way easier to do this for other people! My brother would definitely be claimed by Hephaestus, my mother by Demeter, my father by Apollo. What level of contact were you hoping for from your witch? Any! If you do not contact me again until the end of the round package, that is okay. If you contact me every single day through the end of the round, that is also okay (though maybe a bit overwhelming, since I can't always run to thank you for the ecard in the thread immediately, and then I sit through classes/sports games/whatever feeling guilty that I haven't yet). Anything in between is also okay. Whatever you have the time and inclination for! I know just reading my answers to these questions probably takes up much of your SW time allotment. Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? It says I am Expressive. I don't know about that, I think maybe Analytical fits me better? But a lot of the things in the checkboxes for analytical are just not possible in my work environment. On Meyers-Briggs, I am right on the line between INTJ and ENTJ, and it can go either way depending on how I feel right then. How other people see me depends on whether they think I'm talking because I'm outgoing or know that I'm talking because I'm a nervous chatter. If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Frisky Tyler. *cries* Babylon 5 I have never gotten into it (scifi blasphemy, I know!). I tried watching it on Hulu a couple of times but I never found it compelling enough to continue. I like pretty much every other major scifi tv show. What's your favorite classic fairytale? A FAVORITE? I have no idea. Pretty much everything from Grimm's! My fiance says I have horrible, terrible versions of fairy tales stuck in my head, but they're the real ones! I also love art for them - it's always so magical. Stuff you've been meaning to do: Study. Midterms are NOW and I should have finished all my readings, but I have not. Colors! What are your favorite colors and what colors do you not like? Pictures and links, people! Teal, turquoise, lavender, purple, silver, light/medium greys, lime green. I don't particularly like yellow or red, I dislike brown, and I HATE taupe and beige. What is something people are always surprised to learn about you? People who don't know I'm obsessed with scifi are surprised to learn I'm OBSESSED WITH SCIFI. People who mainly interact with me in the scifi/nerdy realm are surprised to learn I'm obsessed with makeup and shoes and stuff like that. Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? Dummies, yes, but not the others. I'm terrified of Twinkies. I know, I know, it's a weird fear. BUT THEY'RE SCARY. I also hate chalkboards. It doesn't even have to be fingernails on chalkboards - chalk on chalkboards is bad enough! Are there any local museums/attractions you keep never getting around to going to? I want to go on dates with the fiance to the Nasher Sculpture Center (to sit in the skyspace, which is super romantic, imo) and the Arboretum, but he won't go until it's not a billion degrees. It's the weekend, and you find yourself without a single chore or responsibility for a few hours. Right this very moment, what's the one thing you would do if you could do anything? Sleep! I love the characterization of an INTJ as a crackpot who doesn't give a damn what people think. Hahaha. Would you be interested in the #occupywallstreet scent? Oh yes. Reveal? I will be revealing to my witchee. I like reveals, but if my witch doesn't feel comfortable with it, I will live. How do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? Not really into hemp. Is there a magazine that you DON'T read because you can't find it near you, but wish you could? No. ... If I couldn't find it near me, how would I know about it to want to read it? I love the teeny tiny itty bitty ceramic good luck thingies you can get in Chinatown. I have a tiny pink cat that was supposed to bring me luck in love, and a tiny green owl that is supposed to bring me good fortune in work. They're super-cute, and I can be kind of superstitious sometimes. reusable bags? I have many, many reusable grocery bags. I could ALWAYS use more canvas tote bags though! What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? Leather, over the shoulder (or crossbody, though I haven't had one of those in ages), not too big (but big enough for wallet, hairbrush, paperback book, and random stuff), and in a solid, bright color (NOT YELLOW). I MUST have a pocket on the outside for my iphone and one for my ID card for school (it lets me into parking garages), and they must be easily accessible. It's always nice to have an outside pocket in which to shove random bits of paper people give me, or pens or whatever. Inside, there should be a zip pocket for feminine supplies, and then it's helpful to have pockets for pens or lipstick or whatever. That sounds crazy picky, haha. I use my purses for one to two years. I do not like purses with the brand name or sign splashed all over them. Like, little danglies on the zipper pulls, sure, I'll give you that. But anywhere else on the outside other than maybe a very small thing? No. I like Fossil pretty much always (even their cloth purses - I used to only use Fossil cloth purses for a long time). My purse from last year was a purple Cole Haan. My current purse is a seafoam Adrienne Vittadini - and I will never be buying this brand again. The strap has broken and the leather has excessive wear & tear. I love the shape and color, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Usually I buy my purses at the Dillard's sale. I don't think I could stand to pay full price for one of those things. Oh! I have been wanting one of those wristlet clutch things for a while. I don't go out dancing or whatever much really, but when I do, it's annoying to not have one of those cute little cute things to put my stuff in. I also need a new wallet. julep maven monthly boxes: I get them! Like commercial socks? I basically only wear the really fuzzy kind of socks. Any kind of fuzzy sock is okay with me. What kind of bear is best? Charmin bears. They look soooooo cuddly. Is anyone interested in reading The Night Circus? I am interested in reading all books, so yes. I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? OMG YES! From the store, I especially like "Faster, Merlin," "Come along, John," and the Gandalf + Space Gandalf ones. Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? I had never heard of it before, but I like it! I especially like her Virgo painting - finally something Virgo that I actually could see myself owning! Do you drink wine? Yes. But I think we have the wine covered, as my fiance belongs to a wine-of-the-month club... and it's like six bottles a month. Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? Nope, have no use for them. You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? More than anything else I've mentioned so far? But I've tried so hard to mention EVERYTHING I could possibly want in the whole world! That's a hard one! 1. This teeny tiny felted bunny! Or else this slightly bigger felted bunny. They are SOOOOOOOOO cute. And brown, like Gwen! I just found them on Etsy today and omfg OBSESSED. There is also one of a bunny in a WAISTCOAT and TOPHAT. !!!! 2. This bunch of small sterling jump rings, in 20 ga 2.5mm. Probably only under $20 as long as the silver price stays down, ha! 3. The new Rick Riordan book for my kindle! It should be noted that I will probably buy this before next weekend if I don't already have it in my hot little hands by then, because I'm eager to read it! After that, Divergent by Veronica Roth is something I've been looking forward to reading but have just never bought for myself (probably for reasons like "all monies going to BPAL and switch witching!"). What are you drooling over from the Sock Dreams Halloween stuff? The metallic leggings in silver or black. The fuzzy toe socks in any color. The sheer stripe thigh-highs in pink. Not from the Halloween update, I like the bamboo ribbed or bamboo diamond tights, and any of the leggings (I wear leggings a lot in cooler weather). What is something totally random (yes, that thing that just popped into your head) that hasn't been covered by any previous questions? I love The Paper Source! I don't know why I forgot this, but I have an obsession with that store. Everything in it is for sure the cutest thing ever. I almost always buy greeting cards there when I need them for any reason. Also! Lots of people seem to be getting Halloween decorations, and as I stated I don't need them, I'll tell you what I do need - CHRISTMAS decorations! I have NONE other than strings of lights! Oh, and a light-up X-wing. Is there anything you either didn't like or had never heard of that you're now curious to try thanks to the discussion in this thread? lol Sock Dreams! I don't wear socks except in boots, but I wear leggings and tights, and somehow had never connected that they carried those. And the Villainess candles. Is there anything you would like from Sephora? Umm, EVERYTHING. I have a couple of things listed here, and of those the one I most want is the Tarina Tarantino Shimmer Dust. I have no idea what I'd use it for, but it is SO AWESOME. Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? Not me - Smokey scents are generally awful on me. Any thoughts on the new Villainess update? MORAL DECAY BURN. It sounds amazing. Is there a rare book you’ve always wanted? This isn't rare so much as random - I collect different versions of Robinson Crusoe, and am particularly interested in illustrated ones. I always look for them at used bookstores. Is there anything you want to buy yourself but have been too embarrassed (R rated or pg)? Not that I can think of. Tarot? I don't do tarot. Is there a movie you want that you don’t own now? Disney's Alice in Wonderland (animated). Oh! Also, A League of Their Own. It was my favorite movie as a kid and I still enjoy it, but somehow I don't own it. Also also, Anne of Green Gables. I've never seen the movie but love the books! Is there a song on Itunes that you haven’t downloaded yet? Well there are many, many songs on itunes that I haven't downloaded yet! But in terms of one I want and haven't downloaded, eh. Probably so. Does anyone else like collector Barbies? OMG YES. I already listed my #1 Barbie wish in either my questionnaire or in these questions. I tend to like vintage Barbies more than collector ones. I also love a lot of the Bob Mackie ones, but they're way too expensive for me! Here are some from that website that I like: To Catch a Thief, Sinatra, Kirk & Spock, and in the "I'll have to be satisfied with pictures online" category... Goddess of the Galaxy and Tribute Barbie. 50s-60s Barbies with the winged eyeliner are my faaaaves. I want a blonde one with the bubble-cut hair. My grandmother had one that I played with all the time as a kid (it's the one I put the Guinevere dress on) but it went to my cousin's kids when she cruelly snatched all the Barbie stuff out from under me when my grandparents were dividing up their estate. She took it out BEFORE the official divvying up began, which was CHEATING as I didn't even get a chance to say I wanted it! UGH STILL BITTER. What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? Haha, I see that DarkAlice answered that she needs a lint roller. I ALWAYS need lint rollers - my rabbit's fur is too fine for any animal brush I've found to pick it up, so when she's shedding, brushing does very little good and I have to lint roll her. This is not mine, but there is a tfln about it, haha. So I'm apparently not the only one! Question: If you're the MMU type of Witchee, what Geek Chic Cosmetics tickle your fancy? I WANT ALL OF THE THINGS. But I will list just a few. The eyeshadows in Ambassador, Madness takes its toll, Across the Narrow Sea, Born in Fire, The Pointy End, Mind Meld, Frakkin Toaster, and Mana Battery. Of the trios, I like hardcore brown and hardcore blue. Of the blushes, I like Touch Me and Nerdgasm, of the lipsticks, Back to the Fuschia. I am somewhat interested in the Codex foundation and Star Power finishing veil - I am also scarily interested in the green foundation powder (hello, Halloween!). Jesus christ, witch, are you getting the idea yet that I like EVERYTHING EVER OMG? Because seriously. Are there any DIY / Crafty / Free / Budget items you'd love to get but haven't noted yet? (Or, maybe you'd just like to emphasize something you may have only noted in passing?) I love DIY / Crafty things! I know they often take a lot of time, but if you have a skill you want to show off, even if it isn't something I've mentioned wanting, I'd love to receive something you've made. A Budget thing I LOVE is stuff from the $1 bins at Michaels craft store - they have beautiful notecards, bookmarks, and other things like that, that you'd never expect to find at those prices (and I'm a sucker for notecards, even though I rarely send letters!). Earlier this week I went CRAZY there buying the vintagey notecards. They also currently have Christmas ornaments. I also like headbands from the $1 bin at Target, and headbands/other hair accessories/necklaces from Forever 21. Also I love places like Tuesday Morning, Kohls, etc, for accessories and clothes and things - they have FANTASTIC stuff at low prices. Oh, and Sinful Colors nail polish - it's usually a dollar or two and has fun colors, but I only own two! I can't think of anything free - I suspect if it was free, I'd have already gotten it! (Though, of course, recommendations for books that are free and good - either that are free on kindle or available through project gutenberg or whatever are always loved. One time someone let me know LM Montgomery's The Blue Castle was on Project Gutenberg, and that made me a gleeful Distracts for quite a while. Also, of course, music and movie recommendations. Though I feel like they're less likely to be free than books, and free books are something I can read immediately.) Also on the subject of something I use every day - I have been using the Yes To Cucumbers makeup removing towelettes recently. I used to never take my makeup off at night and ever since getting these as a bonus in a drugstore.com order, I've been using them. SO much easier than actually washing my face with water and stuff at night! Also also, I have a wedding coming up if I ever stop being too lazy to plan it. If you have any wedding planning tips, recs for good books (or locations/vendors in the Dallas area), or ideas about things to do if your theme is art deco, peacock colors, or books (all in the mix!), do tell. Do you own a DSLR camera? Are you interested in a minky camera strap like these? What about anything from Photojojo? I don't own any cameras, personally. Is anybody else into film photography? Interested in receiving film, supplies, etc from Lomography? No camera. Are you musically inclined? Do you play an instrument or sing? If so, what? No. The depth of my lack of musical talent is impressive. Mac using witchees, what computers do you use? What peripherals/accessories do you have and what would you LIKE to have? What do you use your computer for? MacBook Pro and a Dell desktop - the only nonstandard thing I have is a graphics tablet (Wacom Intuos3). I also have one of those padded laptop lap desk thingies so I can put my laptop on my lap. I don't know that there's anything else I need. Do you like listening to audiobooks? Would you like to receive one, and if you would, what sort of audiobook would you like--or is there a particular audiobook you've been meaning to get? NO. I CANNOT STAND AUDIOBOOKS. ARGH. I AM FILLED WITH LOATHING JUST READING THIS QUESTION. How many boxes are you hoping for? Umm, I don't know? This is my first switch witch. I am sending my witchee 3 big boxes, and if you look in the pirate and crooked crafting swap threads you can see what I sent and what I received. I think I'm expecting SW to be more stuff total, because it's longer and not constrained by the theme, and also from looking at the IGI thread. But also I'm easy to please. And really have no idea what to expect because I've never done SW before or even watched it going on before, though I was vaguely aware it was a thing. And I know witches vary in what sort of time and resources they have to devote to their witchees. How do you feel about loose leaf tea in baggies? I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out? Haha, I am absolutely okay with it, as long as it's clearly labeled as to what it is, including the brand, so I would be able to find more if I love it! How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price. Also if you would be interested in this, what quotes would you like? That would be so cool! What favorite song(s) would you think would translate into a cool or unique scent? Al Green - Love and Happiness - I imagine this smelling kind of like Banshee Beat. The Ronettes - Be My Baby - a wall of scent, consisting at least in part of swirling citrus and berries. Interested in anything from the Beaver Moon Lunacy update? Beaver Moon! I sent you with $20 into a drugstore/Walmart (nothing too fancy/imported/expensive, just your average selection), and you are restricted only to the candy aisle. What would you blow it on? The sugarfree oreos. Damn, but they're a good replica of the real thing. And lots of sugarfree gum. Do you like scary books? What's the best/scariest thing you've ever read? Scary books aren't really my thing, but I do read and enjoy some from time to time. I recently read "Before I Go to Sleep" by SJ Watson, and that was pretty scary. Tell me about something you like, and why you like it. Describe your sense of humor. If you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? Are there any characters that you love or identify with? Oh gee. Love: Identify with: Princess Leia, Lily from HIMYM, Amy Pond from Doctor Who,

SW Questions direct from my witch

Do you like any sorts of fairy tales, or just the Disney kind? All fairy tales! I have a battered copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales that I borrowed repeatedly from my grandparents when I was a child and they eventually gave to me because I had it most of the time anyway. I also love to read fairy tales from different cultures - the similarities across cultures are always intriguing. I love reinterpretations of fairy tales as well. Are baked goods with Stevia in them ok to send to you, or absolutely no stevia/sugar/anything? Stevia is a-okay, but Truvia and PureVia are not, as they have erythritol (a sugar alcohol) in them, which kind of defeats the stevia-ness of it. Honey/maple syrup/agave are also nos - they won't kill me, but sugar and things that act like sugar on my system make me super-anxious/depressed and greatly impair my ability to get shit done. Do you like Dia De Los Muertos/Sugar Skulls or anything like that? I like them alright, I just don't know what I would do with Dia de los Muertos stuff when it wasn't Halloween time. Though if it was on something else I collect, like a mask, it would fit into an existing collection. It also appears your links for Etsy and BPAL wishlists are not working. The links for my witchee's BPAL and Etsy wishlists weren't working either! Here they are: BPAL Wishlist Etsy Wishlist Amazon Wishlist Do you prefer the kind with the long tail, or the kind that fits like a beanie? Either way, as long as there aren't bobbles on it. I just have two beanies now (one teal and one black - it makes me look like a cat burglar), and I've never found one with a long tail that doesn't have a bobble on the end. Bobbles HURT if you sleep on them.

Wine. This smells like wine. I don't know much about wine so I can't tell you what type but uh, dry? Dry wine. The farther from my wrists, the more it smells like vanilla instead of wine. It has HUGEMONGOUS throw. Hmm. I keep retrying this because I'm not sure what to think of it, but if I retry it every week, it'll end up getting worn far more than some of my favorites. So take that as you will.

    Switch Witch Fall 2011 Questions

Lioness's list of questions. Questions my witch has asked! So, first of all, on my questionnaire, I somehow forgot to note that I collect masks. BUT. There it is. I collect masks. They tend toward the elegant rather than the creepy or weird. Mostly I have ceramic, wooden, or metal masks, because those are the easiest to display and hold up the best. The only material I have found I absolutely dislike is feathers. Feathered masks look cool... for the first five years. After that, the feathers just kind of *ppfft!* when you touch the mask to rearrange or whatever, and that is sad. From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try? Let's see... I ordered bottles of La Calavera Catrina, Pumpkin Princess, The Nymphae Avernales, and The Golden Apple of the Sun. I ordered decants of Autumn Cider, Boo, The Autumnal, Ghosts in Love, Samhain, Sonnet de Automne, The Vampire Bride, Regina Erebi, Askalaphos, The Silver Apple of the Moon, The Changeling, An Incubus Leaving Two Sleeping Women, and Muse of the Night. I also definitely want bottles of The Green Apple of Venus and Nightmare, and maaaaybe Halloween: Las Vegas and Sprinklecake. But I'm waiting to see what the BPTP update does to my spending money before ordering. This is the first update that I've had enough spending money to cover getting pretty much everything I wanted, so I kind of went crazy. From the BPTP update - The Orchards of Hell atmosphere spray, Samhain soap, Honey Pumpkin Stout soap (& possibly bath oil), Streuobstwiese soap, and FRUITBAT FRUITBATH! And, uh, Crypt King? So much for me not being into soaps. They just sound so yummy! Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands? I don't have a favorite brand - I pretty much exclusively buy 3-free brands, and have found that Orly has good application, but I have tons from all different brands. I love bright colors - hot pinks, turquoises, greens, blues, purples, all sorts of colors! I like opaque cremes and jellies the best - I'm not into sheers unless they're jellies, and I don't really like much sparkle/shimmer usually (though I have a lot of nail polishes that have sparkles or shimmer, it's just not my favorite). I've really been digging the FingerPaints fall 2011 collection - beautiful dusty cremes! I want every color from it. I've never tried Nubar, Zoya, or Deborah Lippman (especially like the idea of Across the Universe) polishes, despite having heard good things about them. Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw... I'm not really into candles, though given my experience with Villainess, their candles sound maybe fun. Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors? Turquoise or purple sleep hat! My head is usually fine during the day, but in winter it gets SO COLD at night, so I sleep with a sleep hat on. Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics? Sure! Dried fruit with no sugar (or sugar substitute) added, jerky, probably other things. What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying? Dorian. :-/ My bottle is nearly empty, but because it's just NEARLY empty, I never end up ordering it! These aren't mortal terror, but more like "slight anxiety": I have never gotten bottles of Lady Macbeth or Ophelia, which I wear frequently enough so that I should have, and I have never even tried TKO. If the branded ones count, then also Door and Hunter. Yo, yarnies! Do you Ravelry? If so, who are you over thar? Don't do any sort of yarn things. Social Media? Other than what's in my questionnaire, I have this formspring thing that I haven't used in a long time, but rereading my answers provided me some entertainment, and they are still pretty accurate: http://www.formspring.me/distracts Do you have wishlists for non-BPAL e-tailers? And if so, could you provide a link or a list? In my questionnaire. I have also created a list here linked to in my sig. Witchee, do you use a PC or a Mac? Both! My laptop is a 15-inch MBP, and my desktop is a PC. What is your favorite animal? BUNNIES!!!!!! And cats. But right now I have a bunny and not a cat, so bunnies seem more awesome. What are you going to be for Halloween? A pirate! And on Halloween I am going to be at a costume wedding at Disneyworld, so that will be exciting. If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? (If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above.) OMG I love the oil painting pendants! I would love a ship with sails on the ocean. I would also be pleased with a tree or something naturey like a landscape - kind of abstract and brightly colored. Or my bunny! The same preferences go for wall art. How do you feel about nick-knacks? I collect little cat figurines, as well as little spaceships (I am planning to eventually put them together in a mobile) and robots. I would not be opposed to little rayguns either! I used to have a wall display for my cats but then it broke, but I am sure eventually I will get another. Do you like going to the movies? Yes. If I don't see a movie within the first week that it's out, I'll probably forget and never end up seeing it. The theater closest to me is an AMC. What are your favorite restaurants? Two favorites are local to Dallas - Food from Galilee, and Bolsa. In terms of chains, I like Texas de Brazil and Ozonas. Do you play any video games? Sims, right now Sims 3 on my pc and Sims Medieval on my Mac. Do you like any anime? I love Hayao Miyazaki films. My fiance likes big robot animes, and right now he is showing me Full Metal Panic! which is really bizarre. Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for? Nope! how much do you like jewelry? like, if you were to get a shit ton of it during the round, how excited would you be? VERY EXCITED! I'm not too big into beaded stuff though, but conversely I LOVE that bead-woven stuff like this. There is some other stuff that is an exception, but generally if it mixes tons of colors and types of beads, I won't be interested. But remember I don't have pierced ears! (I should note here that Etsy is a fantastic place to find inexpensive yet super cute vintage clip earrings.) How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants? Yes!!! Although I don't eat sugar, I do love to bake cookies/cakes, and sometimes experiment with Stevia to see if I can produce something edible - as well just any tasty meals, especially tasty HEALTHY meals, are appreciated. I am a horrible cook though! Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above? I do love the Milling in Line boxes on Etsy, and have been considering getting one, but other than that, I have it covered adequately. Muppets: yea or nay? Eh. Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite? Not really. My favorite webcomic is Dinosaur Comics. Favorite Mythological Creature? Dragon Do you like hair things barrettes, headbands, flowers? Yep! I usually get my headbands from Forever 21, the dollar bins at Target, and JCrew (when they're on sale). I have exactly two barrettes and I love them both - I love ornate barrettes rather than simple ones, so I don't run into what I like much at where I usually shop. No ribbon barrettes. Expanding on the hair question - does anyone like those flower clips for the hair that are big right now?? No. Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? No. Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? Yes! Ravenclaw! With maybe a generous dash of Slytherin. I am always up for getting Ravenclaw goodies - I prefer the blue/silver color scheme of the movies to the blue/bronze one of the books. I've got a scarf in my house colors, but that's about it. Oh, and my engagement ring has a sapphire on it, which I realized when the last HP movie was released means I wear house colors every day. That was accidental. If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from? Amazon, Ann Taylor Loft, Sephora, Rio Grande Jewelry Supply anyplace awesome that either has an online store or is in Dallas (wish BPAL had gift cards!). Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? I like Athena and Artemis, and I am a fan of most myth cycles, with Arthurian legends probably being my favorite. I love that there are zillions of versions/interpretations/reinterpretations - there's such a rich base of stuff to draw from, and you can look at the same characters and events over and over again from different perspectives and in different situations. I think my love of that particular aspect of myth and legend is what drew me to fanfiction/fanart, because that sort of does the same thing for modern stories. If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture! I do not RP, but I would always love fanart for any fandom I'm in... right now I am craving some Han & Leia fanart, or something of ST:DS9 or Narnia or Wall-E. I would also ADORE artwork of my bunny or puppy (or both!) - I've got pictures of them in this post, and could always provide more. My fiance is obsessed with zombies and pirates, and it would be funny to have a picture of the two of us as zombie pirates. But really, if you want to draw something for me, I'll probably be happy with just about anything! If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality! SPACESHIPS!!!!! Or, actually, out of perverse interest, I would like to go back in time and see my fiance when he was younger, before I knew him. When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? I like to get in a scorching hot bath with BPTP bath oil and read a book until the water goes cold. Then I go hug Gwen because she's soft and warm. If it's been a really, REALLY rough day, I will go cry on my fiance. If it is a day that feels like THE END OF THE WORLD, I will watch Star Wars: A New Hope. What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I am reading my way through Star Wars: Legacy. I have the first 8 books but none after that! I also have the first book thing of Buffy season 8, but none after that, and none of Angel season 6. Those are really the only ones I read. Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? Um, no. I am SO not musically inclined that it is sad. Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in? I do not garden. My fiance does, but everything gets killed dead by Texas summers. If you know of any plants that are pretty or useful and would SURVIVE four months of uninterrupted 100F+ heat with no rain and watering just once or twice a week, I would gladly take recommendations. Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary? We already have way more Halloween decorations than we need! Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you? Ships, especially sailing ships and spaceships. They make me feel more focused and hopeful. Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc? Yes. Right now I prefer rabbit rescue organizations. Local to me there are the North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary and Wild Rescue, Inc. What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? I don't know that I get obsessed with people so much anymore, but I'll give this question a go anyhow: Actor: Felicia Day. Lots of people tell me she's very like me (or I'm very like her), I guess because we're both weird and awkward. Director: Michael Bay lol I don't even really know any directors anymore. Author: Branden Sanderson - I discovered his books earlier this year and they're really good, so I've been reading through them. I have the original Mistborn trilogy (a sequel is coming out soon!), Elantris, and Warbreaker. I have been trying to find his children's/YA series in a bookstore but with no luck. Musician: Florence and the Machine - I wish they had like twenty albums out instead of just one! (Though I also have the B-Sides album from itunes.) I've also really been enjoying the Ellie Goulding album "Lights" recently. And, of course, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Basically I've been grooving to stuff like that recently. And Dizzee Rascal, because, well, Dizzee Rascal (which is TOTALLY a coherent justification!). Are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? Maybe one or two of the candles, just to try. If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? oh my gosh, yes. In my questionnaire I mentioned the fruitables treats and toys from bunnybytes.com for my rabbit - I prefer to order treats from sites recommended by the House Rabbit Society, because bunnies have sensitive tummies and a lot of the stuff sold in the pet stores has salt or sugar that is bad for them. She also loves playing with pinecones - if you happen to have a tree that makes them, send me some! The dog loves those heavy rope tugs, and she goes through them quickly. What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? Scents: Amaterasu V3, Elf V4, Glowing Vulva Bath Oils: Looking Glass, Snow White, Xmvlzencab, Tomoe Gozen Sprays: British Blondes, Red Lantern, L'Estate, Sakura, Path of Dreams, Basil Hallward's Studio (okay so I really love the atmosphere sprays) Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls? I collect Star Wars OT art prints, and was planning on ordering this print by Scott Erwert from the Star Wars Shop, when the SWShop closed down! Now I don't know where I'll order it. I would take that one in any size at all. It is heartbreaking to me that I can't find where to order it. It matches my decorating scheme so perfectly. For others, I like cool arty prints like that for media series I like, and I am looking for some 17x10s. I also love Mucha, especially Summer (from the Seasons series, not the Four Seasons series), Poetry (from the Arts series), Rose (from the Flowers series), the entire Times of the Day series (but especially the evening), Ivy, the blonde Byzantine Head, and the White Star Moet & Chandon. Also, Klimt - especially Hygeia and Judith I. I just found this Society6 site that offers prints and there are a ton of cool ones so I added my favorites to my amazon wishlist. I am going to go through and indicate in the comments which size is my preferred. I wouldn't really mind but it looks like some of them just might not look good at a small size or vice-versa. If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase? Makeup! Eyeshadow, blush, nail polish. My skin is very fair and cool, and my hair is a mousy brown. There are pictures of me on my profile here & on pinterest. I haven't bought any Mac stuff in like seven years, and I also have been wanting to try some of these Inglot eyeshadows. I am also looking for a good medium-coverage foundation that doesn't make my face look makeuppy and photographs well, but I'm having a hard time finding one I like - I like the texture and coverage of Smashbox High Definition, but the palest one is too dark/yellow for me. It would be cool if it also counteracted redness - right now I'm doing that by mixing a drop of green concealer in my foundation (when I wear it, which is rarely). While I think buying me foundation would probably not work, if you have samples or know a lot about makeup and have recommendations, gimme gimme! Oh! And superpaleperson tinted moisturizer. I use the Laura Mercier one, but it's not quite pale enough and it does a very bad job of disguising redness, which I pretty much always have around my nose because my nose is constantly runny and thus gets constantly blown. Would love some recommendations or samples! Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? I don't drink coffee, but I love tea! I would definitely be interested in trying different types. Last Christmas, my fiance got me a cast-iron teapot from Teavana and a bunch of teas, so I am now a tea ADDICT. One from Teavana that I've been wanting but have somehow never managed to pick up is Silver Needle. I tend to like green and herbal teas more than other kinds, but I do drink all sorts. Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? Oh yes, I would love that. Are you going away for any part of this round? Yep, I'll be gone over Halloween. Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"? I don't really do much outside, except sometimes walk the dog with my fiance or take her to the dog park. My favorite form of exercise is pilates, but all pilates studios cost like ten trillion dollars a month, so I just do it at the gym... but of course the gym classes are only in the middle of the day, when I am busy with classes! Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? Yes, and yes, but I think I have enough office supplies for at least another decade. Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? Les Miserables is my favorite ever. I think I've seen it every time it's been in Dallas for the last 15 years. Which is not that many times, but still. I actually haven't seen a lot of the popular ones like Wicked or Rent, and would certainly be interested. I am pretty entertained by Jesus Christ Superstar. In terms of musicals on film, Singing in the Rain is one of my favorite movies EVER EVER, followed closely by The Sound of Music. West Side Story is up there as well (snapping, ballet-dancing men!) though it probably wouldn't even make the list of my top 100. I do, uh, also like musical children's films, such as all Disney ever, but especially Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty (which has just GORGEOUS artwork). Also, the Joss Whedon musicals (Buffy's "Once More With Feeling" and Doctor Horrible) are not to be discounted. Pictures of my pets yay! Gwen: Rory: BOTH: You can see here that Gwen is about as big as Rory's head. This is why they are not allowed contact with one another unless one is in a cage. Though Rory has so far shown no inclination of eating Gwen, just playing with her or accidentally stepping on her would be fatal. I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! Not at all, as long as they're still in good shape! I'm looking for picture frames and pretty colored glass vases/decanters/pretties to decorate with (they don't need to be functional). I generally don't do thrifted clothing unless it's for a costume. Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly? Nope! I don't produce enough for it to be worthwhile, and I usually want to keep what I make. I would guess some of the shops of forumites might be SW friendly, but none I know of for sure. Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? YES! Just to note, my favorite Disney media are Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Wall-E. We've got a Disney store in town but I am sure Disneyland has much wider stock. Belle and Mulan were totally my role models growing up. People may say stuff about how Disney trains girls to accept female stereotypes or whatever, but COME ON, Mulan dresses like a man and goes off to kick ass to save her father, how cool is that!??! And Belle is super-smart, and as a kid I loved that one of the main characters of a really popular movie read as much as I did. Sleeping Beauty has prettypretty art, and Wall-E his ROBOT LOVE IN SPACE. I also like Peter Pan! And The Little Mermaid! I just like Disney a lot, okay?? Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. Shower gel. I use Softsoap Ultra Rich Shea Butter Creme Moisturizing Body Wash. I'm allergic to a lot of things, and don't like stuff that smells too much, but I'm not allergic to that and it smells good but light. I used to use handmade soaps by the sinks in the bathrooms, but my fiance has a strong preference for Method Foaming Hand Soap, and I think it would be silly to have two soaps at every sink. But it makes me a little sad because handmade soaps are so pretty and good-smelling! The funny thing here is that he uses bar soap in the shower, but has an irrational preference for Dove Men+Care, rather than any of the really nice handmade soaps I've bought him. I dunno, maybe I should try to use soap in the shower... I have some BPTP samples people have frimped me, and they all smell divine! tl;dr version: Shower gel. I love handmade bar soaps, but they probably won't get used in my house. Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? Not really. I tend to tug on necklaces, so beads quickly get scattered to the four corners of the world. Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? Sure! I light light fabrics, since in Texas it is rarely cold enough to wear something heavy. The scarves I use most are skinny long ones that I double up, tie, and use as headbands - currently I only have these in various shades of pink and purple. The scarves I use next-most are kind of voluminous drapey ones that I can double up and do infinity-style over a sweater or whatever. My favorite colors are turquoise/teal, silver, and lime green, and, idk, some sort of pretty abstract floral or geometric motif could be nice? I have no idea really, I don't know anything about handpainted scarves. Do what looks good! This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? Yes! I make jewelry, so I love them, especially cabochons for being mounted on rings or necklaces, though I've started to learn wire-wrapping because I think it'll be a good addition to silversmithing, and so even ones that aren't cabochons will eventually get used. Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share? I LOVE PINTEREST!!!! I think my pinterest gives a pretty good overview of what sort of style I like in my home and with my clothes (though the clothes are more what I WISH I dressed like than what I actually dress like). http://pinterest.com/distracts/ Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? Yes! Kindle format - my amazon email is the one provided in my questionnaire. For trade-paperback-size books, I have no preference as to whether they are in paper form or kindle form, but for hardcovers or things a zillion pages long, I prefer kindle form, because if the book is too big for my tiny hands to hold without hurting and too heavy to carry around, it probably won't be read. (Take note, writers of five-hundred-page tomes!) Obviously if the book has pictures I prefer a paper version. If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? No kids, just pets. Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) No, felted isn't really my thing. Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? Greek sorts of patterns , art nouveau, art deco, some arts&crafts movement patterns. Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? If you made it (with my name! I love cups with my name!) or if it's Star Wars or Star Trek, but otherwise no... our cabinets have no space in them! If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? What is this compressed tea? I would try it! I have no preference as to packaging type - I just started drinking loose tea a year ago, and so far have only gotten them from Teavana. From there, the ones I most want are Silver Needle, Jasmine Oolong, Honeybush Vanilla, Tranquil Dream, Gyokuro Imperial, Precious White Peach, and Thousand Mountain Jasmine. The ones I HAVE from Teavana are Snow Geisha, Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls (my favorite), Peach Tranquility, and Raspberry Riot. I like pretty much all kinds of teas. Teavana has some that claim to be coffee-like or chocolatey tasting, and I don't see the point of those. I don't drink my tea sweetened or with milk, so that may be something to consider. I tend to like light, delicate flavors. But, honestly, I've never met a tea I didn't like! How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? No thanks. I don't drink much. Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? Have no idea what it is. Does anyone like kimchi? OH MY GOD SO MANY WORDS I DON'T KNOW. Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? I don't think so. I am pretty picky about what non-makeup/nailpolish beauty products I try/use, and they seem to have a lot of stuff that I would have no use for. You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? ALL THE THINGS!!!! Or at least all the things on my wishlist. Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? No. Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes. There are none I follow obsessively, but my parents have season tickets for them + one to the Texas Rangers (baseball), and my fiance and I have season tickets to the Dallas Stars (hockey). I already have enough memorabilia for both teams though, UNLESS you could happen to find a Dallas Stars Ice Girl outfit. I have promised my fiance I will dress as one for Halloween one year. How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I am drowning in notebooks and stationery! Please no more! Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Neither. Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? Are these the cookbooks? I have an interest, if only because everyone else has them! How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? I like them, but they need to either be small enough to fit on a shelf outside the dog's reach or big enough to scream "pillow" because she doesn't mess with pillows. I have been interested in getting a Squishable in Fox, Owl, or Raccoon. I also like bunnies and think this is darling. how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did? Not at all - all my bottles are already labeled. What do you really NOT want? Lotion. Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc) Not really. interested in anything from Lush? No. I have had horrible experiences with their salespeople every time I stepped inside the store (I used to work at a store right next to theirs in the mall), and that has turned me off the brand. Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? I have a website that needs a layout. I have... more than one website that could use a layout. Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? Yes! How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. I don't think I would like that. I have the Groupon app and check it regularly, but there's rarely stuff I'm at all interested in, and I've never seen anything I OMG HAD TO HAVE except the Amazon groupon. Or was that on LivingSocial? Whatever, the $10 for $20 on Amazon.com, that one was awesome. Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? (Like these: http://www.art-shrin...cketshrines.htm) Not into them. Do you like Star Wars? Original Trilogy? Prequels? Spin-offs? Favorite characters? Star Wars OT = FAVORITE MOVIES EVER OMG (with A New Hope being my absolute favorite, and ultimate comfort movie). Not so keen on the prequels. Don't hate them, just don't really like them either. I LOVE Leia & Han best of all, but pretty much love all the good guys (especially Chewbacca & the droids). My favorite ships are the Millennium Falcon and X-wings. I also like the expanded universe (post-ROTJ era) and the cartoons. I have seen the Star Wars Holiday Special, and would like it to never be mentioned in my presence again. My favorite SW posters are the special edition US posters, with the ANH poster being my favorite EVER. I have it in size A BILLIONTY HUGE, so big that it took forever to find a frame to fit it in. I also have this cool poster. In the art print section I mentioned the rebel poster I have been DYING to get. Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene)- BEEF JERKY OMGGOMGOMGOMG!! MARRY ME! MAKE ME JERKIES! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE BEEF JERKY! I prefer it thicker and softer but will take it any way! Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work. Eh, not into it. Doctor Who? Yay or nay? (please don't make me cry by saying nay) YAYYAYAYAYYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My faves are the fourth, fifth (celery = lol forever), tenth, and eleventh doctors. I have the fourth season (Donna!) on dvd (it's so expensive to buy them!). My fave companions are Donna, Amy & Rory, and of course Sarah Jane. And if River Song counts then of course her! I DISLIKE ROSE. I know this is an unpopular fandom opinion but I find her extraordinarily annoying. Wesley-Crusher levels of annoying. Also the Tardis. I actually just bought this ridiculous shirt from Threadless, because, well, how could I not? I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package? YES! Anyone love Buffy/Angel? YESSSSS! I own the box sets of both series, and love pretty much all the characters. Special faves are Giles, Wesley, Gunn, Anya, Cordelia, and FRED. It took me until the episode where Buffy's mom died to like Buffy, but now Buffy is one of my most favorite. But, um, when I watch the episodes, I tend to go, "I LOVE THIS CHARACTER SO MUCH FAVORITE EVER OMG!" every time anyone is on screen, so, you know. I am just full of love. Not so into the bad guys though, except Drusilla and Lilah Morgan. Also, I dislike Spike, and especially Spike/Buffy. I'm a Buffy/Angel fan. I know, I know. (Sekritly I ship Buffy/Giles LIKE BURNING, but, um, no one wants to hear that.) How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? Don't need it. Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney? My creepy threshold in reading material like fairytales is high, but my creepy threshold in terms of anything visual or auditory is WAY LOW. So creepy books are okay, but anything else creepy will probably, well, creep me out. The zombie movies I enjoy tend to be more humorous than scary. And Buffy, Angel, the X-Files, and more recently Haven are like THE MOST TERRIFYING SHOWS EVER to me, so... yeah. I'm not a fan of Halloween-themed tchotchkes - I already have more than enough for a lifetime. Or ten lifetimes. Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings? No piercings. I have a question, mainly general, and not witching related, but I have a few things that I do every Switch Witch round, would you find that boring and unoriginal? It's not like the entire package is the same all the time, but there are a few things that I try to include in every SW package I've done. Sounds like a fun tradition! Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? Um, yes. In Plain Sight seasons 1-4, Star Trek DS9 season 2 (to complete my collection!), Star Trek TNG or Voyager or TOS ALL SEASONS NEEDED, Disney's Alice in Wonderland (cartoon, not Johnny Depp), Machete (this movie was so horrible, yet so amazingly entertaining), The Little Mermaid, IMAGINE ME & YOU (Lena Headey & Piper Perabo! Amazing!), and I am sure many others. Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? I don't often see live music. It's so loud and there are so many sweaty people. I find it an immensely distressing experience. Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? YES! Other than Battlestar Galactica (2004), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is my favorite tv show. I also like Voyager, TNG, and TOS, but am not so keen on Enterprise. I also heart the new movie like burning. Favorite characters are EVERYONE ON DEEP SPACE NINE EVEN THE VILLAINS, but especially Kira, and then Dax, Sisko, Quark, Damar, Weyoun, Janeway, Picard, Worf, Data, Spock, Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, Sulu. Sigh! I also think the Defiant is a cute little ship, and LOVE the scene in First Contact where you see the teeny tiny Defiant sweep in front of the Enterprise to attack the Borg cube, and you're like, jesus christ, that ship is about one inch across! Because on DS9 I don't think you ever really get to understand just how little bitty the Defiant is. Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? Yes I do! I wear a size small, or possibly size XS (if they make a size XS, I will fit in it). I prefer longer girly-fit t-shirts, love v-necks (though they don't have to be!), and do not like them to be black or white. Colors are fantastic! One shirt I've been digging recently is this from Threadless - recently I've been trying to move toward more abstract designs that can be work-appropriate with slacks and a blazer. This is foiled by the fact that I get REALLY EXCITED by nerdy designs. A shirt designed by my witch would be awesome! I have no Battlestar Galactica shirts at all and no cool, kind of abstract/arty Star Trek shirts. Also, bunnies. How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... I dunno! I don't use much soap or candles, but if you think you've found something so awesome I have to try it, I will definitely do so! Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? The Etsy shop? I'm not super into it, the little vintagey pictures with the cutout text seems more postcardish. SOCK PREFERENCES? I don't wear socks much, but wouldn't say no to either REALLY RIDICULOUSLY FUZZY socks or toe socks. Or one that is both. But by no means do I need a deluge of socks. Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? Yep! I've never owned any though. I also am intrigued by those SHOES with a place for each toe. What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself? I think this has pretty much been answered elsewhere! How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Cool! I prefer 3-free. Glitter and holographic glitter interest me, especially in teal or purple. Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I've got enough, though I am always open to more Yelpstick and I'd like to try this Jack Black lip balm people keep talking about. Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) I love fountain pens, especially the ones that write super-smoothly. I used to have a very nice one from my grandfather, but someone stole my purse with that pen in it and I never recovered it. I love blue and teal ink. -For those interested in watercolors, how would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? (kind of like this but without the covers for the compartments and bigger http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream) ... I have not painted in years, but that sounds awesome!. -How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) Hmmm, these art supplies are not the art I do. I would always LOVE 18ga copper, brass, or (if you're feeling spendy!) silver or Argentium silver sheet from Rio Grande (or any other jewelry supply company, that's just the one I use). 16, 18, and 20 gauge wire in any of those metals would be awesome, as would half-round, low-dome, or decorated wires. Fancy bezel wire is awesome too, though I am set for life on plain silver bezel wire. Also, of course, pretty cabochons or faceted stones are always nice. Also, a steel stamping set! That would be so awesome. -How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? LOVE. I am pretty sure I've linked to at least three in this blog post (two that I've bought and one that I like), and I think they give a good idea of what I like. Basically, abstract all-over or fannish designs - especially in the longer girly tees or the boatneck girly tees. If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? A bottle of Orly or Essie nail polish, and Covergirl LipPerfection lipstick in Flame, Burn, or Heavenly. Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? Yes I would. would you be interested in something like this? https://lostcrates.com/how-it-works I have shoedazzle and I like it, I don't know about stationery supplies though. On the one hand, EEEEE CUTE! On the other hand, do I REALLY need to increase my amounts of excess journals/notebooks/etc? Amigurumi, yes or no? omg yes. I love love LOVE amiguri of characters from my favorite tv shows or movies (basically Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, etc, all the billions of things I've listed everywhere) or bunnies or owls. Amiguri is the cutest, and I wish I knew how to make it, but I don't think I'd have the patience. I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! I believe I have answered this question elsewhere. If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? The answer to the oil painting pendants applies here. Name your 3 favorite scents for candles Not so into candles. Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea I am not yet so refined a tea drinker that I have favorite flavors! I like jasmine tea though. Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. LOVE ECOTOOLS. I need a powder or kabuki brush - I have the travel one, but I have to uncap it every time I use it, and that's annoying. I also don't have any eyeliner brushes of theirs, and I could always use more eyeshadow brushes. Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? Star Wars and Harry Potter legos are awesome! Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. Door perfume and Castitas bath oil. A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? If you look at the jewelry board on my pinterest, that'll show it pretty well. I wear all kinds of jewelry, but I pretty much just pin ones I'm drawing creative inspiration from. Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? Nope. So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? I would prefer email notification/correspondence on this issue, as I would like to tell the fiance in advance. It is something I would enjoy, but I think he might think I'm going to get myself axe-murdered by intarweb strangers, and so we'd have to make sure it was at a time he was home so he can be like, "oh, completely normal lady-people gabbing about perfume, not a murder risk." What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? My extended family gets together for just about every major holiday, and it's really meaningful that we do that. I have been on vacation for a couple of holidays, and it's always been distressing to me that I don't get to celebrate with my family. Even with my parents and brother there, it doesn't feel right. How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? We have enough household things like that. When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? I couldn't answer this question earlier but today I am sick so it is appropriate! Let's see, last night my fiance cuddled with me and we watched the most recent episodes of The Closer and Eureka (strong women and scifi = comforting!), then he gave me a massage, then he drew me a hot bath (with Glowing Vulva bath oil in it!). All of that was very comforting. And just having him on my team in general is comforting, even though sometimes he laughs when I wail piteously (it's okay because I laugh at him when he wails piteously, because sometimes it's just so adorable it's funny). Witchee, would you like a framed photograph and of what? Not as into photographs as art prints, and I've got some on my Amazon wishlist. If you had an international witch, is there anything you would like from the UK? (Or Australia, Belgium, France any other country we have witches from. I'd be happy to have anything you feel is awesome that is difficult to find outside your country! Anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? Think Geek Wishlist Dear witchee, if you answered 'Mac' to the Mac/PC question previously issued by another participant, please tell me what kind of computer you have, what peripherals you own (like the wireless trackpad, wireless vs/wired keyboard and mouse), and whether you're interested in Apple-related items (stickers, keychains, other things with the logo, etc). I have 15" MBP. No peripherals, and I don't need any apple-branded stuff. Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc) Nope, but if I think of any, I'll reupdate this question and put it at the bottom. If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. Villainess Datura Slick, Paula Begoun 1% BHA gel, mascara (I switch brands just about every time I run out, in search of my holy grail mascara), Make Up Forever Full Cover concealer in the lightest color, hairbrushes, okay really that's about all that I use every day that my fiance hasn't already bought a year's supply of (he likes to be SURE we don't run out). Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? Yay! I love Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion best. The Persuasion film adaptation I like best is the one with Ciarin Hinds. I like both the Colin Firth and Keira Knightley P&Ps - they're different, but they each have their own charms! I watched all those ITV adaptations several years ago, and enjoyed all of them except Persuasion, because HOMG WHY DID THE MAIN CHARACTER KEEP STARING AT THE CAMERA SO CREEPY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY. Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? Umm, jewelry, yes! I like arts&crafts, art nouveau, and art deco styles. I am a particular fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, and love this! And William Morris patterns. I heart those like burning. If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? Pretty pictures! Or else they are part of a universe I keep up with. What's 'your' song/your theme song? What would be your superpower? There's a difference here between the superpower I would want and the one I would get based on personality - I'd want to have super-strength, but I'd probably get the ability to talk people to death (a power which my mother and fiance both say I already have). I worry that I am running out of space, as some people already have, so... PART TWO!

    The Lantern Ghost of Oiwa

This is possibly the most amazing BPAL scent I've ever tried. It's immediately in my top ten, if not number one! I would bathe in this stuff if I had enough of it. When I put it on not knowing the notes, I thought it was honey with some anise and an edge of mint. I thought, "wow, an anise scent I actually like!" Of course, it's apparently not anise at all! I think it's the cherry blossom that is tricking my nose into smelling that, or possibly the ho wood. Anyway, maybe because I don't know what most of the notes in this smell like, I can't pick them out, but it's an intensely gorgeous scent and I luuuuurves it. The mint is very faint and not overwhelming at all, which is how I like my mint. It's a light kind of scent, but it lasts quite a while on me and has good throw, so that when I move I'm constantly going "wow, what's that amazing smell? Oh, it's ME!" But because it's so ethereal, I think it'd still be appropriate for work.

    Liz

I don't get any leather or vanilla, just FLOWERS OMG FLOWERS and a hint of smoke. It doesn't smell bad, it smells rather nice, but at the same time, it's not something I'll ever wear, so it'll have to find a new home.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Weirdly, until totally dry, The Unheavenly City smells a lot like Estee Lauder Pleasures on me... It was totally tripping me out because I wore Pleasures exclusively for a long time, and I was like, "I don't even have a bottle of this at my new house! HOW DID IT GET ON ME?" But if I huffed my wrist I could smell the sexy red musk, which is definitely not in Pleasures... and once it dried completely, it smelled totally different.
  19. I loooooove fruity and sandalwoody scents in the summer. The heat makes them glorious in a way they aren't in the winter, when they seem to just hang on my wrists instead of expanding to fill the air around me. Also, the blast of sweetness is nice when you're sweating. One of my favorite summer BPAL moments (that happens almost every day) is when I get in the car in the morning and the airconditioner blows my freshly-applied perfume from my wrists right at me, and I spend my entire car ride in nose heaven.

    The Unheavenly City

Wet on me this is keenly reminiscent of Estee Lauder Pleasures, one of my longtime favorites. Except it's like Pleasures' muskier (sexier!) grown-up sister. As it dries, the red musk deepens the scent, and it becomes even more divine. It's sweet, but, like most red musk blends I've tried, not TOO sweet, which is good. Completely dry, it gains a slightly marshmallowy aspect. I agree with LittleGreyKitten, who said that it's like MB: BiggerCritters in that it's a "floralbutnot." Though this doesn't smell like MB:BC, I would definitely place it in the same foody/floral/sexy category. As well, it is the only perfume that my fiance has loved on me so much he can't stop commenting on how AMAAAAAAAZING I smell. So I'll definitely be needing a backup bottle (or ten... if I can find them). In coincidental "this is like MB:BC" territory, the only perfume that inspired that reaction in my ex-boyfriend was Monsterbait: BiggerCritters. Foody/florals: A hit with the men?

    Diabolical Offspring

This is lovely - it's very much a more honeyed version of Stinky. I <3 it lots. Unfortunately, I break out in little red welts where I've worn it, so it probably has stealth citrus in it.

White Chocolate, Strawberry, and White Pepper Truffle

This definitely smells like the strawberry sauce that comes with funnel cake. It smells SUPER DELICIOUS, but is too sweet for me to imagine ever wearing.

    Veritas

The essence of honesty, integrity, and veracity: frankincense, white carnation, angelica, chamomile, and heliotrope. Originally smelled to me, without looking at the notes, like woods and chamomile. Looking at the notes, I guess it must the frankincense and carnation that are making me think it smells like wood. Something has a slight sour bite at the beginning - the carnation or heliotrope, I think. It reminds me of a scent I got a LOT of in Copper Phoenix, except it's (thankfully) extraordinarily faint here. That disappears as it dries and a more floral note comes out, and starts to battle with the woody scent for dominance. It's definitely a resiny, herbal scent, as others have said. It smells more masculine or unisex than feminine. It doesn't feel at all "white" to me, as other reviewers have mentioned. It's warm and maybe powdery, but not powdery in a bad way. It smells like what I always THINK amber will smell like, before I actually get a hold of amber blends. It's very different from most other scents I own, but I don't think it will be a bottle purchase, though I'll be open to more imps. I see this as a scent I'll wear more when I'm into the concept than just because I want to smell like it.

The Fox-Woman Kuzunoha Leaving Her Child

To me this smells like a musky floral, which I guess must be the combination of the teak and star jasmine. It's very nice but not a keeper for me because it has NO throw whatsoever - I can't smell it an inch away from my wrist, only if I get my nose right up in it, and my hair ate it so I can't smell it there at all (and I really do like to smell my perfume wafting about when I toss my hair!). So basically my verdict is that it's a nice smell... but I can't smell it without lots of effort.

    The Penitent Magdalen

Immortelle, lily of the valley, gaiac, amber, honey, white sandalwood, almond flower, blonde musk, and hyssop. On me, this starts with SANDALWOOD!!! HELLO SANDALWOOD! When I sniff up close, it smells a little warmer. As it dries, the sandalwood fades away (sandalwood FADING on me? what madness!), leaving a gorgeous, warm, snuggly honey/amber/musk scent that I just want to eat. The honey is not the honey that smells like froot loops on me, for which I am grateful, or the honey that smells like cat pee. The flowers are still there, adding a bit more depth to the scent without being sharply floral. I can definitely pick out the lily - I don't know what the others smell like so I can't say if I'm getting them. It's a beautiful scent that doesn't immediately jump out to me as being a foody, a floral, or an incensey scent. It's somewhere in the middle of those.
