    Hearts for Ghost Friends

Lilith named this one, and I think it’s absolutely perfect. I know I’ve told this story before, but the kindness behind it means so much to me that you’re all going to have to bear with me while I tell it again. The privilege of being the narrator! While we were at Lafayette Cemetery this spring, Lilith discovered all the beads, toys, and trinkets that people leave on the crypts. As she wandered through the cemetery grounds, she arranged the beads that she found into hearts and pillaged my purse (and Ted’s pockets!) for change and small items she could leave for the ghosts. She told me that people leave things like this for their ghost friends so that the spirits know that their “people friends” are thinking about them, and so they won’t be lonely while they wait for more people to come visit them. Lilith and I still talk about the ghost friends she met in New Orleans that day. Evidently, some of them have taken up residence in my basement and behind our bar because she couldn’t bear to leave them behind. The more the merrier, right? Friendship beyond death. The scent of ghostly companionship, and imaginary friends that might not be quite so imaginary: oleander and frankincense with white rose, soft carnation, spectral white musk, and velvety magnolia. I've never done a first review and don't quite have the nose as some do around here but here goes: In Bottle and Wet on skin: White rose with a hint of something (frankincense?) I received my bottle in a week ago and I was waiting for it to settle a little bit but Hearts for Ghost Houses, on me, it starts almost entirely as Rose and wears down to a nice velvety floral and then eventually the frankincense/musk take over and it becomes almost sensually spicy with a hint of floral. Overall like it, think I might love it more when it ages a bit and blends in with the other florals present. While this rose does not go soapy like other roses on me I admit I primarily bought it due to the magnolia and oleander in it and am a bit sad it's not a major player yet.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

Bestest ever but hard to find: Streets of Detroit is hands down my favorite myrrh dominant creation Some myrrh heavy GC blends that I like include: Anubis, Czernobog, La Petite Mort!, Priala the Human Phoenix, Sed non Satiata, Wings of Azrael To be fair, I amp myrrh, but these are the blends that I can clearly detect the myrrh and it's listed as one of the major components Honorable mention to Medea, Bastet, and Hecate also but they aren't as myrrh dominant as the previous listed ones HTH Ooh I'll have to try to get an imp of Anubis and Czernobog and I think I just got one for Sed non Satiata that I haven't tried! Thanks!

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)

I really wanted this scent to work, I mean really wanted it to. I adore red musk and patch, black currant and plum are favorite notes of mine. So I've been testing and retesting my imp since I got it (so 1.5 years or a bit more) and every note in there agrees with me that I know of but something goes slightly medicinal which throws the scent off. So unfortunately, I'm at the dregs on my imp and I won't be buying a bottle. Just so sad.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

Oooh Frankincense is usually on the high and screechy side for me, but if Myrrh is dominant I might go ahead and give it a try! Thanks!! Unfortunately I can't do rose (it either dominates or goes pure soap on me) though.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

Can anyone recommend a blend that has Myrrh as a dominant component?

    Cave of Treasures

Well I've tried this a few times and it's pretty much a single note Lilac on my skin. Ok, but not impressive enough for me to buy a bottle of.

    Winter: My Secret

I have the exact same experience as LizzieLuck did, I got labdanum and myrrh and nothing else. I think this will age to be a nice subtle scent but I kinda feel like it's more of something to layer with something else rather than being by itself.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

For Dorian have you tested out the current LE from the Post The Serpentine? Also Lilith Hairgloss, if you go that route. Not to mention A Stroll through the Quarter (from BPTP) Incense smoke drifting out from the basilica mingling with oleander, just-flamed bananas foster, and a splash of Dorian.

For Banshee Beat have you tried Yucca Giant Skipper? I've read that they have a similar vibe.

    Where is this scent?

I asked Puddin about it about a month ago and currently they are out of a component and are not sure whether or not they'll be getting it again. So right now it's permanently out of stock unless they can can obtain more of that component. Thank you! But really not the answer I was hoping for. Well I'll just hope the component will be available again. Welcome! Yeah, it wasn't the answer I was hoping for either. I am crossing my fingers that they get more of that component in so it can be made still. That said, you can always do a ISO, I did and got a number of responses for the Hair Gloss and Bath Oil.

  12. I'm down to a quarter of a bottle of my Luna Negra 2013 (A shrouded embrace: blackcurrant and amber with cassis, lavender, and deep purple mogra.). Anyone have a rec for a scent to replace it?

    What's the best coconut blend?

I think it's balanced between the notes. Although with my skin chemistry I can end up with a sweet benzoin coconut and a hint of patch. (That said I like most BPAL patchoulis, so long as it's not the dominating note) Awesome! I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks! It's the one that I put off trying for 2 years (exploring BPAL) and then finally got a imp to try and realized I was incredibly stupid for not trying it sooner. Hands down it's my DH's favorite scent on me because he thinks it's dead sexy.

    What's the best coconut blend?

For a GC how about Goblin? That's got Black coconut, gnarly patchouli, and sweet benzoin. And it's a very sweet dark coconut blend on me.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Paper Kite sounds fabulous. I love coconut scents but my favorite (Goblin) isn't a summer scent IMO.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Xanthe (Guava, orange peel, white pepper, spun sugar and apple blossom) Son of a BiggerCritter (Coconut pulp and vanilla cream with lemon balm and Mexican lime.) ETA: Otherwise my favorite summer scent is Hell’s Belle’s (BPAL) Oleander with wet, sweet mandarin, lush magnolia, a rush of deep musk and a touch of spice.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Oh! It never occurred to me to contact him and ask now that it's been taken down. I have no use for a Spirit Board but would have loved the Yes perfume, especially as I love lemon. Fantastic idea!

    Sinus Amoris

I've been trying and trying and trying this one, it's settled for over 6 months and I still end up with a dominating pepper scent that's way to much for my nose. Pity, as DH says it's a sexy vanilla spice but I'm not getting that at all, all I smell is pepper, pepper and more pepper.

    Something sweet and STRONG? *newbie*

So glad you found a few that worked for you! As for Def.... Put the imp away for a while and see if the jasmine calms down. I've noticed with some blends that it can, after aging a bit. I ordered the latest 13 too, normally that sweet isn't my thing but I could quite resist.

Satan Starting from the Touch of Ithuriel’s Spear

For the first week I had this decant I got a glorious morpher of Golden amber and blackcurrant against a backdrop of red musk and ending with spicy carnation. It was quite the party! After about a week vetiver and the patchouli decided enough was enough and made their presence felt. So currently during the wet stage the blackcurrant and red musk come out to play with a drydown of patchouli and vetiver. I'm hoping with some aging they relax a bit and let the other notes out to play on a more permanent basis though so will undoubtedly spring for a bottle of it.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

For me it depends on how new the blend is. For example, Sin burned me when I first got it, but after a few months of (the bottle) aging I barely get a red mark. Inferno took my imp a while to settle down before the cinnamon stopped burning me (and I was getting welts from that one when I first got it). And obviously I'm enough of a glutton for punishment that I kept retrying these despite the initial burning to figure this out.

What about Queen of Sheba (BPAL): Golden honeyed almonds and a whisper of African and Middle Eastern spices? Just a thought, you might also look at Cheesecake perfume notes. I think they are Limited editions but might be up your alley.

    Something sweet and STRONG? *newbie*

I don't see Snake Oil listed anywhere? I only have the Pumpkinized version but have to admit this one strikes me as vanilla sweet with a huge throw to it. Defututa (Olive blossom, honey, smoky vanilla, cinnamon, jasmine, sandalwood, and champaca flower.) Golden Priapus (vanilla and amber with juniper, rosewood and white pine.) Tombstone (A rugged, warm blend of vanilla, balsam and sassafras layered over Virginia cedar.) and maybe take a look at one of my favorites Morocco (Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia.)- although this one is more dry and spicy on me than sweet. ETA: SIN (BPAL) Thouroughly corrupted: amber, sandalwood, black patchouli and cinnamon. (although this one is heavy on the cinnamon at first) SCHOLARS’ TOWER: (BPAL) “Gleaming amber spheres, polished cedar and mahogany, sweet parchment, inks of frankincense ash, and soft plumes of incense. Hesiod’s Phoenix (BPAL) Golden amber, bourbon vanilla, and sweet oudh. (if you can get ahold of this one!) Goblin (Black coconut, gnarly patchouli, and sweet benzoin.) Try out some scents with Oudh in them. I find that that one turns sweet on my skin.
