  1. this is the 'dirty hippie' patchouli that i get from certain bpal blends...i prefer it a bit smoother and less earthy. and again another rose that sours on me--i'm sure that this would be very nice on someone else, but my wonky skin chemistry is having none of it.

  2. ... Her scent is striking and bold with a delicate yet dark undertone: five roses with soft jasmine, warmed by vanilla, fig, tonka bean and mahogany, spiced with a drop of coffee bean.

stale coffee and amping jasmine...gotta get it off!

  3. An epithet of the Morrigan, crow-winged Celtic goddess of war, strife and fertility. Adoration of this Goddess is expressed both through the ecstasy of battle lust and the ecstasy of sexual regeneration. Black orchid, apple blossom, meadowsweet, and rue over Irish moss, hawthorn and red clover.

lots of orchid and moss...extremely green and herbal. not for me, off to swaps.

  4. ooh, this is very nice. i believe i gave my bottle of carnal to pilotkitten, now i'm wondering why :P

it's nice, especially for someone like me who's not the best with citrus scents. this is sweet, and bubbly. very pleasant.

  5. as a regular sugar skull user, i immediately picked up on the sugar skull similarity. and that makes anaconda sooo goood to a foodie lover like me!

the snake oil does make an appearance in the drydown, definitely. this is a scent right up my alley and i won't be ashamed to try some crafty layering once my precious imp is gone.

  6. oh no...sweet pea! :P

i have to agree with sam on this one...my skin amped this up like WHOA and then the scent went soapy. but before this stage, it's very fresh and green. quite the summer scent, i can see why other people would love it, but it's not for my skin chemistry.

  7. my boyfriend sniffed this and told me i smelled like cheap, stale perfume. i was really hoping to get some honey out of this one, but the red musk drowns everything out.

i may age this one a bit, but otherwise it's off to swaps.

  8. cherry cordials!

and robitussin. but somehow, i like it.

ETA: later, the red queen disappeared entirely, leaving me with a lingering scent of freshly sharpened pencil. now that is some serious morphing.

  9. i like queen alice more than the regular alice...it starts out as overpowering wine which put me off, but in the drydown i could detect the treacle, and also the apple cider that seems like a sugar skull throwback.

this one is nice, but it fades fast like most of the newer scents i have tried. i'll stick to sugar skull :P

  10. i was very happy to get an imp of this in the mail...it's one of those stinging bpal scents, packed with cinnamon. blood moon even burned my too-close nose while sniffing my hand, ouch.

red sandalwood and spice are the dominant notes here for me, i'm not getting much else. oddly enough i feel it's akin to spanked, without the leather. blood moon would probably work better for me when layered with something else--my boyfriend seems to like it, but i'm undecided.

  11. this was VERY peppery tea at first, considering the listed notes i was expecting something sweeter so was surprised to be sniffing a blend that was decidedly GREEN. very fresh smelling, which i'm chalking up to the linen. after a bit though the ginger started peeping out, and also the honey BPAL note that i've now come to know and love.

this one is nice, but not quite what i was expecting. i think i might have to pass it along.

  12. ah, maraschino cherries. :P

this blend is strong, which is great because i love a little throw. there aren't nearly enough cherry bpal blends IMO, and some of the ones that have cherry listed don't actually deliver the way i would like. this though, is gorgeous--sweet enough for a foody scent lover but feminine in the vein of jailbait or pink phoenix.

lovely. i don't know why there aren't more reviews *looks around*

  13. where obatala is a breath of fresh coconut, elegba is drenched in rum, and smells like a cake. not at all unpleasant for a 'foody' scent lover like me, but as i'm a true obatala convert (and proud parent of a 10ml) i think elegba would be one coconut scent too many.

that said, i might wear this when i want something darker, and sexier than obatala.

  14. i first have to say i'm not sure what i was expecting, but noir is in a league of her own. this is the most powdery i've ever detected the bpal rose note, but so expertly blended all i smell is perfume. i think of expensive, silver screen movie star perfume--this is a scent that could command a room. the clove does eventually peek out from underneath during the drydown, but i'm still debating whether this is something i would wear.

considering how rare it is, i think it's too much even for ME.

  15. i have had this forever, and never tested or reviewed it. *facepalm* this is why i prefer bottles--i lose track of imps.

anyway, this is a true, sweet honeydew when applied. amazing, really. almost mouthwatering, if you're a melon fan. as it dries, vanilla starts to peep out, though i haven't detected any of the carnation i've fallen so in love with recently. fresh, sweet and green, mellowing into a gorgeous all around blend. nice.
