    Nyarlathotep

there's that familiar /flash/ of bpal ozone...and then i've dived straight into a vat of lemon pledge. the incense is peeking out a bit, this is a completely strange but not wholly unpleasant blend. it smells fresh, and somehow clean even with the lemony phase.

    Wanton

this is the 'dirty hippie' patchouli that i get from certain bpal blends...i prefer it a bit smoother and less earthy. and again another rose that sours on me--i'm sure that this would be very nice on someone else, but my wonky skin chemistry is having none of it.

    Viola

far too much rose, with a hint of lillies. i'm far too picky about rose scents, and this is one that doesn't work for me. off to swaps.

    Love-Lies-Bleeding

The velvet flower. A lush, thick, luxuriant bloom, bold and red. spicy chocolate dipped roses with a hint of strawberries. no, seriously. and for once, the chocolate doesn't go stale on my skin! definitely interesting, i'll probably be keeping this one.

    Mata Hari

... Her scent is striking and bold with a delicate yet dark undertone: five roses with soft jasmine, warmed by vanilla, fig, tonka bean and mahogany, spiced with a drop of coffee bean. stale coffee and amping jasmine...gotta get it off!

    Phantom Queen

An epithet of the Morrigan, crow-winged Celtic goddess of war, strife and fertility. Adoration of this Goddess is expressed both through the ecstasy of battle lust and the ecstasy of sexual regeneration. Black orchid, apple blossom, meadowsweet, and rue over Irish moss, hawthorn and red clover. lots of orchid and moss...extremely green and herbal. not for me, off to swaps.

    Intergalactic

this is a very close to the skin fruity floral blend. not a lot of throw, unfortunately...if this were stronger i think it would be fabulous. i'm on the fence over this one--it's nice, but not something i'd actively hunt down.

    Carnal

ooh, this is very nice. i believe i gave my bottle of carnal to pilotkitten, now i'm wondering why it's nice, especially for someone like me who's not the best with citrus scents. this is sweet, and bubbly. very pleasant.

    Hell's Belle

hell's belle to me is an unremarkable floral--none of the spice or mandarin really became apparent on my skin. it's quite strong, though, and a bit sharp. swaps.

    Et Lux Fuit

this is a faint citrusy floral...no real throw at all. not really what i thought it would be, but it's pleasant enough. definitely a yellow, spring scent.

    Anaconda

as a regular sugar skull user, i immediately picked up on the sugar skull similarity. and that makes anaconda sooo goood to a foodie lover like me! the snake oil does make an appearance in the drydown, definitely. this is a scent right up my alley and i won't be ashamed to try some crafty layering once my precious imp is gone.

    Dandelion

wow. just wow. like being a kid, and lying in a field full of dandelions. i don't know that i would wear this regularly, but for sense recollection, this is spot on.

    Sweet Pea

oh no...sweet pea! i have to agree with sam on this one...my skin amped this up like WHOA and then the scent went soapy. but before this stage, it's very fresh and green. quite the summer scent, i can see why other people would love it, but it's not for my skin chemistry.

    Bien Loin D'Ici

my boyfriend sniffed this and told me i smelled like cheap, stale perfume. i was really hoping to get some honey out of this one, but the red musk drowns everything out. i may age this one a bit, but otherwise it's off to swaps.

    The Red Queen

cherry cordials! and robitussin. but somehow, i like it. ETA: later, the red queen disappeared entirely, leaving me with a lingering scent of freshly sharpened pencil. now that is some serious morphing.

    Queen Alice

i like queen alice more than the regular alice...it starts out as overpowering wine which put me off, but in the drydown i could detect the treacle, and also the apple cider that seems like a sugar skull throwback. this one is nice, but it fades fast like most of the newer scents i have tried. i'll stick to sugar skull

    Blood Amber

while i thought this scent would love me, especially considering my newfound love for dragon's blood, blood amber is just blah on my skin. i might give it another go, but for now i'm sorely disappointed.

    Poisoned Apple

while i am loving the concept behind this one, and am even impressed by the end result...the poison ruins the apple for me in this blend. i also detect a green, and not a shiny red apple, which i think adds to the sour notes.

    Blood Moon 2005

i was very happy to get an imp of this in the mail...it's one of those stinging bpal scents, packed with cinnamon. blood moon even burned my too-close nose while sniffing my hand, ouch. red sandalwood and spice are the dominant notes here for me, i'm not getting much else. oddly enough i feel it's akin to spanked, without the leather. blood moon would probably work better for me when layered with something else--my boyfriend seems to like it, but i'm undecided.

    White Rabbit

this was VERY peppery tea at first, considering the listed notes i was expecting something sweeter so was surprised to be sniffing a blend that was decidedly GREEN. very fresh smelling, which i'm chalking up to the linen. after a bit though the ginger started peeping out, and also the honey BPAL note that i've now come to know and love. this one is nice, but not quite what i was expecting. i think i might have to pass it along.

    Cherry

ah, maraschino cherries. this blend is strong, which is great because i love a little throw. there aren't nearly enough cherry bpal blends IMO, and some of the ones that have cherry listed don't actually deliver the way i would like. this though, is gorgeous--sweet enough for a foody scent lover but feminine in the vein of jailbait or pink phoenix. lovely. i don't know why there aren't more reviews *looks around*

    Elegba

where obatala is a breath of fresh coconut, elegba is drenched in rum, and smells like a cake. not at all unpleasant for a 'foody' scent lover like me, but as i'm a true obatala convert (and proud parent of a 10ml) i think elegba would be one coconut scent too many. that said, i might wear this when i want something darker, and sexier than obatala.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

i actually like the olive in this...the scent waffles between herbal and fruity in a totally nice way. it's interesting, for sure. a must-try for quirky scent lovers

    Glitter

juicy, sparkling sweet pears. i LOVE glitter, it's such a great pick me up. i always feel pretty when i put this on, it makes me smile. i can see where the bubble gum comments come in, but i don't care. i love sweet

    Noir

i first have to say i'm not sure what i was expecting, but noir is in a league of her own. this is the most powdery i've ever detected the bpal rose note, but so expertly blended all i smell is perfume. i think of expensive, silver screen movie star perfume--this is a scent that could command a room. the clove does eventually peek out from underneath during the drydown, but i'm still debating whether this is something i would wear. considering how rare it is, i think it's too much even for ME.
