    Snake Charmer

I thought for sure I had reviewed this smellie a while back... since I'm wearing it today, this is a perfect time to do just that! When I first tried my bottle of Snake Charmer about a year ago, I liked it enough and was happy to find a "Snake" I could wear (Snake Oil, unless REALLY aged, is icky on me) I promptly put it into my bpal storage box and perioically would tap into it. I pulled my Snake Charmer out today (this one is the original release) and further aging of it has done wonders for it!! Abby had never commented before when I would wear it, but today, she grabbed me (literally) by the shoulders to do these deep whiffs off my neck. She made ga ga faces at me too. I liked Snake Charmer before. Now? I LOVE Snake Charmer. Esp. richly aged Snake Charmer Snake Charmer 2005... come to me... (working universal magic) A+ with undulating hips

    Venom

When I first got into Bpal in Sping of 2006, a very generous peep gave me a decant of Venom as a freebie. Back then, at that stage, I would sniff test the smellies in the vial first to deem weather I wanted to do a further skintest. I sniffed my freebie of Venom and promply forwarded it as a freebie to someone else. This is me now : Talk about swappers or rather frimpers remorse! Venom does indeed remind me of Dior's original Poisin perfume. Minus the strong heady cloud of alcohol and intensity. Venom is more insensey/resiny. Sexy in a warm skinscent way that is so common of Beths blends. I love it!!! * Many thanks to GypsyRoseRed for sending me a testable sniffie of this to try!!!

    La Vague

Umm...everything the The_Witching_Hour beautifully said! I'm becoming a peach fan with Beth's blends (Cupid Complaining to Venus is another beautiful peach smellie) This perfume starts out tart and sweet. The fruitier aspects of the fragrance make a solid impression at first. With a little time, the florals and cream accord just weave through it creating a harmony of ... sunshine?? Like having a picnic in a spot where there all white flowers, sipping on some champagne and eating a peach with its juices running down your chin. It is a perfect Spring/Summer scent, and it make me smile! Fruity floral fans NEED to get a bottle of this. Beautimus!!

    Rozpustnica

Wet: Lemon verbena doing a wild hokey pokey on my wrist (honestly a little "lemon pledge" like at this point) thankfully that stage wears off fairly quick, and rose starts to make her apperance. Drydown: The blue and white musk notes, really anchor the floral aspects of this perfume and lend rose and magnolia a beautiful "embracelike" quality on my skin. The blue musk in this perfume reminds me a little of this years Blue Moon. When I smell this, I think fresh, lumionous, aquatic floral. Truely lovey! This is a wildly romantic perfume that does make me think of a "modern day" take on a victorian bouqet A must have for floral and rose fans!

    Haloes

Thanks to GRR for sharing testable sniffies of the Salon exclusives!!! Haloes is is like surrounding yourself in a cashmere blanket. Very cozy and comforting. A lovely, harmonizing blend of warmth, sweetness, and white flowers. A crowd pleaser for sure and I can see myself wearing this year round! Beautimous!

    Unseelie

I cannot believe I have my very own bottle of Unseelie This is one of those perfumes that evokes so many scental memories... There are "classic" warm, spicy, and floaty amber notes to this perfume. In general, honey, Myrhh and amber have a way of turnig a bit powdery on me, but this is actually a GOOD thing! It's the sexy warm skinscent powder version vs. the bland Johnson's baby powder variety. There is just the right amount of green and herbal florals mixed in with this "powdery" accord that make it unique. Hard to peg down, but not hard to put on.

    Egg'd Mailbox

My absolute favorite of this Halloween inquisistion smellies!!! http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/wub2.gif This scent is reminicent of the delicate forals in Chaste Moon, with a dash of velvety vanilla and egg nog "ish" spices. The longer I wear it, the more it becomes a musky sweet skinscent. I get so many compliments wearing this one, it makes my head spin. Hoard worthy for sure, and that is what I'm set out to do.... Come here little eggy egg!!! Sky rocketed to my top 10! A super duper + 5/5 *just wanted to add that aging this perfume has only made it better! I applied it this morning and going to bed now, I can still smell it wafting from the nape of my neck/hair. It's a richer, sexier vanilla now. It's great layered with other perfumes too. Today for instance, I dabbed this on my neck/pulse points and sprayed Guerlain's Pamplune over it (Orange/pink grapefruit) I smelled like a "fancy" creamsickle.

    Crypt Queen

Crypt Queen reminds me of a mish mosh of three different bpal smellies. Queen of Clubs, Trick #1 and Mme. Moriarty Misfortune Teller. I was a little scared about the earlier reviews, mentioning that this was really "fruity" when it first went on wet. Although it does have some juicy fruit notes, it 's the full bodied "red" fruits vs. the "uber sweet" fruits. More of a wine smeered fruit. It morphs pretty quickly to a more feral spiced rose scent. The rose is not front and center in this scent, rather a frame to all the the other darker notes. When I smell my wrist, I'm engulfed in mulled wine, earth, skin musk, and resin's. In the end, I'm not entirely sure this is a "me" scent. Something about the remnicent Queen of Clubs earth notes, have me hesistating from doing a happy dance. I have plenty of Trick #1 and MMMT to tide me over for times I want a smellie in this "realm" although my GF and I both agree this is a beautiful scent and I may keep it around a little longer to see how it ages.

    The Queen's Salon

Of the two Bat's Day blends, this is by far my favorite! It has elements of some of my die hard bpal smellies. I was reminded of the subtle Queen of Spades-ish plum wafts, also the musky floral aspects of Vasakasajja and there is also a spicy element to this scent too. It's beautifully blended and I'm interested to see how this one will age. Very happy to have my own bottle! If this scent were a color it would be mixtures of purple, burgundy, and creamy ivory.

    Door 13

Many thanks to SueDonym for my bottle! Door 13 REALLY reminds me of "City in the Sea" very much so. I have both on and their close cousins. Door 13 being a bit more "metallic" or wet rock smelling. On my skin, this scent is fresh, ozone, with subtle hints of citrus. Very unisex and in my mind like the European version of citrusy Eau de Toilette's that I've tried in France and Italy. Both my GF and I like this scent very much and will both be dipping into this bottle.

    Singing Moon

For my two cents: The beauty of Singing Moon is comes through after 30 minutes. The dirt note starts to receed (thankfully) and the smokier, autumnal, earthiness of this scent really blossoms. It reminds me of Hexennacht a bit. A "mutt" version of Hexennacht, Graveyard dirt and Shanghi Tunnel, with something else that is softer more delicate in the drydown. I'm glad I gave this scent a road test. I was about to "pooh pooh" it from the way it smelled in the bottle. This kind of scent usually is not "me" but, in this case I'm making an exception. I can't believe I like it! It's not one that I can see going into heavy rotation, but it is so different than anything else that I have.. we'll see! All in all happy to have a bottle of Singing Moon!

    Crowley

This is a weird streak I'm on recently... the REALLY popular smellies with the forum peeps are REALLY bad on me. Crowley wet: Smells like pink erasers. After 30 minutes:My dad's cheap electric after shave solution (brut?) Drydown: Pink erasers swimming in electric after shave solution, sprinkled with a dash of body odor peeking underneath deoderant. I braved through an hour and had to wash this off. I really wish I had the cartwheel experiance that most of you've been having. Sigh... no Crowley for me!

    Leo 2007

I am entirely UNDERWHELEMED with Leo 2007. It's weird, because Beth's Amber blends usually wax poetic on me! This however, smells chemically and fizzy on me. Fizzy.. dry food spice, but stinky food spice. Curious, but in the "gah! why does this smell like this?! Must wash off. " way... I am truely perplexed with all the rave reviews and wonderful scental experiance's people are having. For me Sportive Sun rocked my socks and was the big amber winner last month. Lucky for me that I have had no problem stocking up on that one. Leo, for me was a dissapointing dud

    A Bachelor's Dog

I have been hesitant to review this because it is so fan-friggin-tabulously good! I was wanting to keep my fan girl rants on this smellie on the DL, so I could get my greedy Gretchen paws on as much as I can find. Since I have a few bottles now, I think I can let the cat out of the bag. (or rather, the DOG) If you like Perversion or Spanked. You have to get a bottle of this. IMO, this is even better! This is drop dead sexy, and is very unisex. My skin amp's amber, musk, and vanilla and has a tendency to sweeten up scents. So, the tobbacco notes stay at bay, and are so well blended that it just adds a spicy nuance to the whole scental experiance. The leather note in this is reminicent of the leather in Perversion, but warmer... more subtle. I could bathe in this stuff. 5/5 goes off to stare at bottle adoringly
  15. I have to raise my hand here and say thay Crumpet Rebellion does not remind me of Sugar Skull at all. Sugar Skull on me is maple syrup x 1000. So much so, it makes me utterly ill. On me CR is more tart red berries, vanilla, spicy sugar cookie. The berry notes blossoms on me sweeter vs tart in the dry down and a musky sexy aspect crops up too. If I were to make GC comparisons, I would say it's maybe a distant cousin to MB: Closet and Knave of Hearts (the cassia/berry notes) But, IMO a ka-gillion times better. Knave of Hearts smelled something akin to "bacon" on me Wonky differances w/ skin chemistry

    Minotaur

I have started my bottle hoarding on Minotaur and at 5 bottle's I think I can stop now. This is musky, resiny, ambery, insense love on me. For whatever reason, it made me think of Luperci though it really only shares the balsalm note. More of a "feeling" I get when I wear Luperci is echo'ed when I wear Minotaur. Minotaur makes me feel empowered, sultry, blanketed in a shoud of exotic scent. It makes me think of something a Belly Dancer or Mata Hari would smell like! Where I could not wear Mama Ji, or Priala. They changed to a weird rubber smell on me. Minotaur is a PERFECT resin blend. I am totally gaga over it and it just gets better and better the longer it's worn. Staying power is great and I'm sure this will age beautifully too. A+ w/ a, "Holy crolley this is amazing" added in.

    Eleggua

I had never heard about this oil, until I saw it on a swap/sales post. I had to read the reviews to get an idea of the notes. Being a mint ho, I had to try it! I know this is a TAL oil, but damn I LOVE this on me!!! I agree, it reminds me of spooky. Mint that is laced with coconut and rum. It is fresher and lighter than Spooky w/o the chocolate. I'll try to use this for its intended purpose as a TAL oil but, it's going to be hard for me not to use it as a perfume. I'm wondering if this is still avaliable to buy more? Hoard worthy for sure! A+

    Pinched With Four Aces

Yeahbutnobut's review pretty much sums it up for me! I tried this on at the C13 M&S, when Evon had her "boxes-o-doom" out for us all to salivate over. I schmeered a wee dab of this on my wrist, and promptly forgot about it, with the evenings excitement distracting me. When we got back to our hotel room, I kept getting little wafts of this off my arm, and it was just so amazingly yummy!!! I'm not a fan of coffee, don't even drink it (blasphomy in Seattle) I HATE Misk U, but this is... swoon worthy yumma-licious on me!! It's got the cinnamon that is dry and warm, not "red hots" variety. very "Chai" like (and I loves Chai!!) The coffee is rich and dry too, with a dash of milky vanilla, I do not get specific tobacco or woods in this scent, but I know it's there because of the warmth it lends to this scent. It is just so beautifully blended! it makes me feel comforted, warm, sensual...edible Skyrocketed to my top 10! 5/5 with hearts in my eyes

    The Smiling Spider

At first glance at the scent description, I though, "eh.. not for me." When I went to C13 and was checking out the Salon testers, I wasn't even tempted to open this bottle. What changed my mind? Cathy, aka "Wickedgoddess" did. She had this delicious scent wafting around her, and when she told me it was Smiling Spider, I had to go try it on. It has bumped Count Dracula for my new clove love. I actually prefer this blend minus the leather notes on me more. It's sexy, warm, a little powdery sweet on me. Like wearing a seductive warm blanket all over my skin. I smell damn good and have nabbed 2 bottles of this fuzzy spider love. Little goes a long way, and it lasts and lasts on my skin. Thank you Beth that this is not an LE! 5/5 easily

Choosing a BPAL for your dog

My dog's name is Riley too! My GF puts Anne Bonney on her and it smelles great. She doesn't seem to mind it either. Sometimes I dab Bakeneko on her, even though it's a Kitty inspired smelllie. It's all good, esp. since Riley's best friend is her cat Freddie Mercury

    The Crumpet Rebellion

I have been torn about what exactly to say in my review of Crumpet Rebellion... First off I absolutely LOVE it on me!! Lets just get that out of the way It is uber delish, and I am gonna be mama dragon sitting on my bottle protectively. I had the chance to chat w/ Beth and asked her what her inspiration was on the C13 scents, and if she could give any additional info on them. Regretably, I was so overwhelmed with all the activity going on around me at the meet and sniff, and just blissed out to be talking to Beth, that I can only recall bits and pieces of what she was saying about Crumpet Rebellion.. I remember the one phrase clearly.. her calling it, "the F**K you cookie" that got my GF and I laughing!! Damn I love Beth! Okay.. a review.. Wet: Super sweet tart berries. Cassia note more prominent to me. 20 mins-drydown: Ohhh... a pastry filled with "juicy" mouth watering berries. I interrupted my GF and asked her what she thought. "spiced cream and the best berry tart you've ever smelled" was her comment. My skin amps up the juicyness of the berries and I get warm baked sugery vanilla vs. caramel on me. I should add that I HATE Sugar Skull w/ my skin chemistry, and thankfully it does not go SS on me at all! Great throw, long wear and just mouth wateringly yummy. A+ w/ extra drool...

    Blue Moon 2007

Some back story I got while chatting with Beth about this years's Blue Moon. I was shocked to know that the lab is only making .75 cents off this years Blue Moon. b/c Beth wanted to do something special for us to commemorate the Blue Moon, she used more expensive grade of ingrediants, specifically the "oud" ingrediant in this year's Blue Moon was something she had been saving for such an occassion. Beth, I hope I got that right and hope you don't mind me sharing this with other's. I know it just made me love you and this smellie even more! Blue Moon on me is so smooth and well blended. I agree with Medici's review the most: exotic florals, with wafts of watery cucumber, herbal (not acrid) green tea, a powdery sweetness which is anchored down by a spicy accord, that I will say maybe is the Asian woods? It has depth, esp. in the drydown, and I am intrigued on how this will age. I don't know what the original smelled like, but I love this year's version.. a lot. I nabbed a back up bottle at C13. It really is hard to pin down all the notes I'm smelling, but it is mysterious and just so lovely...sigh... 5/5

    The Unheavenly City

When I asked Beth about her C13 blends, she said her inspiration for this one was to make it smell like a WHOREHOUSE It is AHMAZING on me, and I stole my GF bottle of it too (muhahaha..) There is definetly a "creamy" accord in this perfume, and I smell lush juicy red berries, crushed with flower petals. More spicy, berry, musk, with the floral elements weaving throughout, but not dominating. Edible (in the I want to nibble on your neck way) enticing, with a defiant edge of naughtiness, that elevates it from being just another floral scent. Truely tounge wagging goodness. A+ with a bawdy wink

    The Best Mint Blends

I agree with Brianne!! Tulzcha (mint w/ cucumber, sounds weird but is DEVINE) Spooky (creamy vanilla minty love, with a spike-o-rum) Lick It 2005 (candy cane peppermint with a lick-o-vanilla...ummm) I also love Snow Flakes (even better than Snow White imo) but, it is a creamier floral mint. So pretty Lots of Pretties to choose from!

    Velvet

I got a bottle of aged Velvet thanks to naughtyblonde I had tried a lab fresh imp of this last year and hated it. Very strong Sandlewood and zero chocolate, it turned nasty on my skin. I read posts about aging this one, and took a chance swapping for an aged bottle of it. What do I think now?? Age your Velvet!!! WOW it is so completely delish on my skin now. The Sandelwood is there, but it is tempered by a richer deeper chocolate and the Myrhh just adds a twitch of sexy skinscent. This is truely a bed tumble worthy scent! I'm now a Velvet convert... yummy.
