    Lurid

I'm getting lavender, with some of the sweet fruitiness of the currants. Then the musk and ozone come out, giving this a breezy light summer day feeling. Very lovely with a nice bit of throw. The imp stays.

    Saw-Scaled Viper

This is one of the spiciest blends I've ever tried! The cinammon and cassia are raw and dark and hit you right in the face. It smells kind of bitter at first, then calms down to a yummy gingery/cinammon smell. Half an hour or so later the snake oil part comes out and gives this a creamy sweet feel, which I attribute to the vanilla. Very spicey without being foody. I really like it, but will be careful not to apply too much, because it STINGS my inner elbows like crazy and left a big red welt there. Oddly enough, it didn't do that with my neck and wrists. It's a delicious scent, but apply cautiously. This snake bites if you're not careful. for the scent itself, for what it did to my inner elbows.

    Night-Gaunt

FRUIT HEAVEN. There's lychee in this in addition to the other notes, it has that high pitched distinctive fruity smell. I get the kumquat and grapefruit, and it's just sheer bliss. I mellows a bit on the drydown, but the fruits are still distinct and juicy. Mmm. Possible bottle. The throw is light to moderate, but that's typical of fruit blends on me.This is very similar to Fire Pig in smell, so if you run out of that, you'll want to snatch this one up. Perfect pick-me up scent and great for hot summer days.

    Akuma

At first the rasberry and blood orange is bright and fresh, then the neroli comes out. It's juicy when wet, then gets kind of faded and artificial smelling on the drydown. Maybe rasberries don't work on my skin or the neroli is just making it bitter. It's okay, but I defiinitley have better fruit scents than this one.

    Leanan Sidhe

Very pretty. This smells like either white or yellow flowers. I can't pick out what kind of flowers they are though. I'm getting a bit of aquatics in with the florals, which is very nice. Kind of like dew on flowers first thing in the morning. A small to medium amount of throw. I like it, I probably won't get a bottle but I'll keep my imp fo' sho'.

    The Penitent Magdalen

This is amazing. The lily of the valley is instantly recognizable, but it's a soft floral note, and it doesn't overwhelm the blend like lillies tend to do. The amber, honey and musk keep it in check and make this a seamlessly blended fragrance. I love it! It has a decent amound of throw. It is very golden in feel, kind of like the candle that the Magadalene is looking at. Great for daytime and suitable for nighttime as well. A bottle is under consideration.

    Silence

This evokes the painting stunningly well. The only distinct notes I can pick out are the white sandalwood, white peach, plum blossom, and later, iris. This is a very subtle scent, notewise, and on my skin as well. Very understated, and even modest. This is meant for moments of quiet contemplation and reflection. Not sure how much use I'll get out of it, but it is nice. I just wish it had more throw.

    Three Brides

Wow. Unique and hard to pin down. I'm definitley getting something sweet here. I think it's the tonka and vanilla flower that are doing that. It smells honey-like. I'm getting alot of the Moroccan rose as well, maybe some orchid as well. I feel like I'm a very refined middle eastern palace. It's a sexy scent, yet a refined one as well. Light throw.

And There Was A Great Cry In Egypt

This DOES smell alot like Scherezade. This is very Middle-eastern in feel. Exotic, spicy and sophisitcated. It's well blended, so I can't pick out all the notes, but I get the woods and myrrh right away, then the musk and honey come out to play on my skin. Lovely and definitley bottle worthy. Oh, and medium-strong throw, at least on me. I love it.

    Bat-Woman

I'm getting what I think is the callla lilly, moonflower, and honeysuckle and lavender. After it settles on my skin its a mix of these notes that I can't really pick out indivudually except for the lavender. It's a very cool and fresh scent, not overwhelming at all. The throw is light, even after I slathered a bit. I like it alot, not sure I will buy a bottle yet.

    Carceri d'Invenzione

Incensy and dry. The redwood and the sandalwood are very noticeable, and this is one of the few times where I can actually SMELL the sandalwood in a blend. It is a very comforting scent. I'm not sure what blonde tobacco smells like. I'm getting the frankincense too, which is giving off that dry smoky feeling, but I like it. It is quite a beautiful and intriguing scent, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The throw is rather minimal. It makes me feel like I'm in an art museum, very artsy and sort of like a "woman of the world". A sophisticated scent.

    Death of the Grave Digger

Fairly straightforward. I get snow, soil, and a bit of the oppoponax(sp?). It is cool and refreshing, and it is a great wintertime scent. Throw is very faint, but that's alright. I like it, but won't be needing a bottle. Very evocative and fitting for the concept. Beth did a great job with this!

Satan And Death With Sin Intervening

I get a very woodsy scent with some tea and vetiver. The vetiver isnt too strong, it is nicely grounded by the other notes. Then the orange blossom comes out and starts to smell sour on me. I dont like it for about an hour, then it morphs again and turns sweet and light. The orange blossom and tea are still there, but that sour note is gone. Nice, but I doubt I'll get a bottle. It smells better wafting off my skin than when I smell it up close. Strange. Medium throw.

    Two Monsters

I spilled half the imp all over myself. Luckily Two Monsters smells pretty good on me! At first the leather, patchouli and vetiver come out, very strongly. Then the scent sweetens up and I can smell the lovely champaca flower and black musk. At first I didn't like this because it was so masculine on me, then it sweetens up and becomes more feminine. I was worried the vetiver would overwhelm this scent and become nasty on me, as it usually does, but the other notes seem to be keeping it in check. Kind of a hard scent to pin down. I like it alot, but I don't think I'll need a bottle. The scent gives off a minimal to moderate amount of throw, despite the fact that I spilled so much of it on me! Edit: four hours later: OMG, I love champaca flower! It's almost all ambergris and champaca flower on me now I need a bottle of this after all. Forget what I said earlier.

    Cloister Graveyard in the Snow

This is a perfect winter blend. The musks and mint come out the strongest, and it's amazing how just these two notes can evoke snow and cold chilly air. I'm not getting frankincese or ozone. This reminds me of when I was travelling around England in winter. It is a perfect winter scent, but it could also be useful in the summer when you need to cool down. I really like it. Small amount of throw.

    The Death Of Sardanapal

The only note I can pick out is cassia and some myrrh. I have no idea what the heck the rest of the notes are, or what they smell like. This is SO. GOOD. It's warm and spicy, I now catch something like carnations or cardamom? My nose must be playing tricks on me. This is one of my favorites in the Salon set. It has a small amount of throw, enough for me to smell it wafting off me but not too intrusive. This is something you would put on for cold nights to keep warm. It's delicious and decadent and just perfect for me. Edit: immediately after I applied this on my neck, it turned it a bit red. It was there for a little bit then went away. Strangely enough it didn't turn my wrists or the insides of my elbows red. Oh well.

The Fox-Woman Kuzunoha Leaving Her Child

This has a decent amount of throw which I like, a few of the other Salon scents I've tried had very little throw or none at all. I smell the wisteria(swoon!) and the star jasmine the strongest, with a hint of tea thrown in. I'm not getting cherry blossom or teak out of this, but it's so well blended it's hard to pick out too many individual notes. Very asian in feel, like a warm spring or summer day inside a teahouse. Perfect for spring or summer, I am going to keep my imp. I might even get a bottle.

    Lucretia

Lucretia is very similar in smell and feel to Orpheus, another Salon scent. Lucretia doesn't have much throw, but up close it comes on loud and strong. The florals here are rich and deep. The Kashmir wood gives it a woody feel, like the smell of flowers deep in the woods. The iris and amber are very strong as well. This is so well blended that I am having trouble picking out all the individual notes. I like it, but I'm going to wait to see if I like it enough to get a bottle.

    Resurrection of the Flesh

Resurrection of the Flesh, Luca Signorelli. Frankincense, hyssop, heliochrysum, ylang ylang, copal, angelica, and rose geranium. Incense and florals. Frankincense, hyssop and rose geranium seem to be the most noticeable notes. This is suprisingly light! This smells like a ritual scent, or something that you would wear in a catholic church. Solemn, yet beautiful. Not alot of throw, so you can be a bit liberal when you apply this. I like this quite a bit.

    Death Adder

I wish i got all the "sexily dark n'dirty" results that everyone else is getting, but I don't. The vetiver is too loud and up front for my liking, and although it was softer when it dried, it was still VETIVER and little else. I only like vetiver when it's a background note, not loud and bold like this. It just smells like dirty vegetation to me. Sadness, I wanted to love all the snake pit blends too!

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

Hmmm....this is quite a masculine scent. The earl grey tea leaves and the fougere(spelling?) are very prominent, and they create a very crisp astingent feel, which to my nose, translates as masculine. It is indeed, a male counterpart to Dorian. I'm not getting much out of it, personally, but I would love to slather this on a guy's neck.

    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

The orange blossom turns kinda sour on me. I smell a hint of cream, but almost no carnation. The orange blossom holds strong for a while, then starts to fade as the scent dries. Overall, Zarita is rather ordinary and unexceptional on me. Worth a try, but no bottle for me.

    Tiresias, the Androgyne

On me, this is all caramel and nothing else. Sigh. After experiencing the same dissapointment with Red Lantern, I have come to the conclusion that I don't like caramel on my skin. I love the taste, but as a scent on me....it's a no go. Tiresias is sickly sweet and the caramel amps so much that I don't get the subtlety of the other notes. Such a shame, because the other notes made it sound really delicous. This will be better on someone who doesn't amp caramel, or else someone who REALLY likes caramel. That is all.

    Tavern of Hell

Hmmm, this is a hard one to pin down! I get lots of dark florals, with a bit of the whisky. It definitley smells like a dark smoky place. I think this would be a VERY good scent to wear at a bar, perhaps for a night on the town. Definitley a nighttime scent. I do like this alot, and I will keep my imp. It turned out much better than I expected on my skin.

    Tezcatlipoca

OMG. This is one of my favorite excolo blends. Deep rich cocoa and leather, with a touch of incense. I don't get patchouli at all, but I wasn't really looking for it in this blend. Mmm, cocoa and leather, two great smells that smell great together. It goes on rich and deep at first with strong throw, then settles down after an hour and smells hypnotically good. I get a very strong south american flavor from this. Perfect for winter or spring.
