  1. Wet: Just like a candy cane. I smell the sugar and the peppermint. Good thing Beth warned us not to lick it.

Drying on skin: My skin absorbs the sugar and I get a focused peppermint that makes me feel awake and alert.

An hour later: I find that the peppermint is almost gone and now all that remains is a sugary vanilla haze of goodness. Oh yeah, that is some excellent vanilla sugar. I need a 5ml of this badly.

So glad I was able to snag an imp of this, because I never would have guessed I would love it this much. Mmmmm. :P

  2. I had ordered this as part of an imp pack intended to be gifted, but they sent me a frimp too. Let's see if this one is as good as it sounded.

In the bottle: Strong cologne smell. Sort of woodsy.

Wet: Still a strong woodsy cologne smell, now the overpowering cologne note is fading into something more smokey.

Dry: Mmmm. Spicy and a little dusty. It almost turns a little minty on my skin. I wonder how it will smell on my husband :P

  3. In the bottle: Dark chocolate smokey goodness!

Wet: Eh, whew! It's like vanilla-grapefruit dreamsicle. It's not exactly bad, it's just that pretty much all BPAl citrus so far has gone sicly sweet on my skin. Thirteen is a very good motvation for me to get a scent locket, and I'm not sorry I bought two bottles because I can also use it as a really yummy room fragrance.

Drydown: As it dries it becomes sandalwood/creamsicle. I love sandalwood so this is good, but I stick to my vow to buy a scent locket.

The chocolate scent in the bottle is just too damn good for me to settle for creamsicle.

  4. In the imp: a floral and dirt

Wet: Wow, strong floral. A little bit of something that reminds me of bubble gum. But mostly floral. Hopefully it will calm down soon and I will be able to identify it.

Dry: Still getting a very strong mixed floral. From the other reviews I gather that this is more of a skin chemistry issue than anything else. Oh well. Swaps.

  5. Note: I like how red this oil is.

In the Imp: Dirt and fruit.

Wet: Floral dirt. I'm picking up the medicinal smell that I get from Snake Oil, only a little different. That floral is very familiar. I think it is Asiatic Lilly. Now that's all I can smell. Very nice.

Dry: Cinnamon and Asiatic Lilly. This one is a keeper, and possibly something to buy a bottle of. Oh yes. Ironically this is very ladylike and sophisticated.

    :P

  6. In the Imp: Woods, evergreens, and something medicinal

Wet: Sharp evergreen. I think that is Juniper. It's almost an effervesecent smell. Still a little medicinal. I'm intrigued.

Dry: Now I'm getting a very nice evergreen smell. I personally do not want to smell just like an evergreen, but I will be keeping this imp to use as a home fragrance. It is very nice.

  7. In the imp: OMG Grapefruit!

Wet: It's getting sweeter but it's still grapefruit. Oh please let grapefruit not turn sick-sweet like the other citruses. Please!

Dry: too late :P It's not as bad as the other citrus I've turned lately, but it's smelling funny. Swaps.

  8. In the imp: I have no idea what that smell is. It might be an herb or a wood.

Wet: Citrus herby spice, ooo that's cardamon. I do like cardamon. Just like the green cardamon pods you buy at an Indian grocery store and clove. With sweet orange peel. Interesting and good.

Dry: I am starting to learn that these citrus notes do not work on my skin at all. They always seem to turn sickenly sweet. It did smell quite nice until my body chemistry turned it. Swaps it is.

  9. In the Imp: Almond Liquer

Wet: Overpowering almond but with a bit of a powdery smell underneath. It's like a soapy vanilla.

Dry: The almond disapeared very quickly, now this is very subtle and soft, a really yummy cinnamon musk vanilla smell. Ooo. This is nice. Warm and soft. It is making me think of the Mediteranian bakery where I used to buy baklava and it is starting to smell a little like gingerbread. I could do without the powder note, whatever it is, but this is yummy.

  10. Piquant citrus tempered by jasmine, soft Mediterranean herbs, lavender and orange blossom.

In the imp: Lemon Lime and Lavendar. Mmm.

Wet: Ew not a good combo right now. It reminds me of bathroom cleaner. Starting to settle down into a very strong lemon-lime smell. Still too strong to be pleasant.

Dry: Okay, this is clearly a scent for someone who wants to smell like a limeade. I love limeades, but I don't want to smell like one. Not a bad smell. Kind of yummy in a way, but not for me.

A few minutes later I am smelling a little more lavendar.

  11. In the imp: freshly cut grass and musk?

Wet: Lemony green cut grass. Oh interesting. Some subtle floral like jasmine. Yes, that is jasmine.

Dry: I'm getting wondeful jasmine and fresh lemon. For the Lushies, it smells like Silky Underwear Dusting Powder sprinkled over Avobath :P Very nice.

  12. I'm dressing up as Madonna from her black lace phase. I haven't decided which oil to wear yet. I'm debating between Creepy and Devils Night. Then again, if my 13 order gets here in time, then I may wear it.

I've got a black lace scarf for my hair, black lace fingerless gloves, leather bracelets, black pencil skirt, black sleevless ruched top, and some necklaces.

  13. I got two frimps of Perversion in my Halloweenie order.

In the Imp: Dirt, soap, chemicals

Wet: Musk, wood, something sweet. I'm still being overpowered by a soapy smell. Hopefully it will fade.

Dry: Mmm, that's better. Sweet musk, vanilla, spices, wood, it's still very masculine but getting sweeter and spicier. Cloves! I love cloves! Ahhhh. Much much better. Tobacco.

A few minutes later: This has settled into something warm and spicy. Not as masculine as before. I can see that this one might be really wonderful after it has aged, but it's still a little to masculine for me. I think these are going to go into my swap pile.

  14. In the Bottle: Butter, Pumpkin Pie and Key Lime Pie, citrus. Mmmm. Pie.

Wet: Lemon, Sweet lime, and a crust smell, spices. Mmmm fruit loops. Creamy citrus. Sweet and creamy. Fruity.

Dry: I smell like candy! Mmmm. I think there is a subtle floral in here too. Beautiful citrus sugar cream. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

This is not at all what I would have expected from Pumpkin Queen, but it is so lovely. So far each of my Halloweenies have been so different than what I was expecting and so different from each other. But all in a good way.

Edit: A few hours later her Majesty is still going strong but now she is all sugary floral fruit loops and she is really overstaying her welcome with me. :/ I will hang onto her for now, but this one may need to be swapped later.

  15. 06

In the Bottle: Butter, real apples, cinnamon and spices

Wet: Same... except now an evergreen note becomes dominate, now I smell berries, Oh, Lush heaven, you Lushies will recognize this berry note as Blackberry from the Blackberry BB. OMG heaven! And the slightly floralness makes it smell just like the BB with some spice thrown in. Now it is turning slowly to apple cider.

Dry: Now I get a slight whiff of the blackberry with evergreen and spices and apples. *puts more on*

Not what I was expecting from the description but DELICIOUS! :P

  16. In the Bottle: A witch (or a puritan) with two cats. Smells like an herbal tonic.

Wet: Sandalwood first, the cinnamon, maybe cardamon and a floral in the background. Intoxicating.

Dry: Now I'm getting basically just sandalwood, but hints of the spices remain.

I have to say this is the best BPAL oil I've tried yet. I may have to order an extra bottle for my mom who is sandalwood crazy :P I was disapointed at first because I really wanted to get woodsmoke, but I can get that with some other oil. This one is really special.

Edited: I have to add now that I've been a BPALer for a while, that this has become one of my favorites, definately in my top five. I even bought an older bottle to supplement the one I already had. It seems that Devils Night gets more spicy as it ages. I like it even more aged than I did fresh.

  17. This lunacy's theme came at a very appropriate time for me. The artwork is beautiful and very touching.

In the bottle: I smell intense floral, overpowering.

Wet: Irises and perhaps lillies. Truthfully I'm not sure exactly what I am smelling but it is very beautiful. I understand why some people are describing it as 'soap.' Because I recognize the floral in this as the floral that some fabric softeners use, only the one in this oil smells like the real flower, fresh and natural, whereas in fabric softner or detergent it does not smell real.

Dry: I let it dry down for a while and now I smell like clean laundry except better. Not chemically smelly, just really really clean and fresh. In fact, right now this is reminding me of my mom for some reason. Again I must stress that it is a very natural scent. It's very subtle and feminine.

I really don't know if I will wear it much, but it is very beautiful and I'm glad that I got it.

  18. In Bottle: This smells almost exactly like honeysuckle flowers on a bush, only stronger. I used to have a honeysuckle bush in the courtyard of the apartment complex where I was living. I used to cut off a branch with blooms and put it in a vase in the livingroom. My husband would always remark on how good it smelled, and that is significant because he usually hates anything floral. I bought this single note imp from the Lab right before the single notes were discontinued, because I had been on a long quest to find true honeysuckle and been sourly disapointed at every turn, until now.

Wet: Tames a bit but is still quite strong. Honeysuckle is a slightly sweet "white" floral, to me. It does indeed smell exactly like the blossom although still much more concentrated. Now I will have to find a lab fragrance that is mostly honeysuckle, so that I can hord this imp.

Dry: Tamer and more realistic now, this is true honeysuckle. If they were still available from the lab, I would get a bottle of this.

Please Beth, give us a mainly honeysuckle scent with just a touch of something else, such as perhaps resins and a spice. Pretty please? :P

  19. In the bottle: Syrup and spiced buttered rum.

Wet: Fruity like a ripe fig, boozey OMG boooozey! Almonds in sweet milk.

Dry: Mmmm. Vanilla and rum, butter and incense.

Hours later sweet and musky, a little vanilla sugar. It's rich and intense and I love it with a passion! :P

  20. I got a frimp of this in my first order. As near as I can tell it was discontinued before they sent it to me. Seems like a tease. Anyway.

Bottle: Pine and musk. Like a lumberjack that has been chopping down Xmas trees all day. Or one of those air freshner thingies. I love wood so this has potential.

Wet: Babypowder and something green that does not agree with me. Musk and a heavy men's soap smell. Ugh. Irish Spring? More babypowder.

Dry: A mix of old ladyish perfume and stinky soap. What are you Saturn? I can still smell pine, but the other notes are totall wrong for me.

I am totally going to wash this off of me. Seems to be a fairly masculine scent, but not one I would encourage my husband to wear. I will be putting this one up for trade when I get my trades ready.

Edit: I does not wash off.

After reading the other reviews I see that this one is said to be good for banishing. I can see that. This oil could be very useful used for a purpose. Honestly I would never wear this again, but useful oils and perfumes should be graded on different scales.

  21. In Bottle: Hard apple cider, cinnamon and roses, buttery. Made me think of Xmas in a good way.

Wet: Overpowering applespice floral, a little too potpourri

    -like when it's still wet.

Dry: Roses and apple cinnamon. Still VERY strong.

Overall I really like this scent, but it's most likely going to be seasonal home fragrance for me. Unless it really works its voodoo. In that case I might be forced to buy a 5ml.

  22. In the Bottle: Overpowering floral with a little spice.

Wet: Carnations (perfect) with Rose a tad spicy, and a very fresh organic smell that fools me into thinking there is a real flower here somewhere.

After Dry Down: Spicy rose and very little carnation

Later: This scent really fades fast. All that is left is a heavy rose note. It's nice for rose, but needs reapplication.

Overall I have to say this is the perfect scent for a shampoo or lotion that you want to enjoy the fragrance when you use it, but don't want it to linger or perhaps clash with other scents. It is lovely, but doesn't have enough staying power to be a regular personal scent. I may try mixing it with other oils that are similar to get more long-term enjoyment.

  23. O is easily my favorite BPAL scent so far. I haven't smelled very many since I am fairly new, but when I smell wrists all day long, it tells me that this scent is a winner.

In the bottle O smells like vanilla and pipe tabacco with incense. Not a bad smell at all, but doesn't seem like something I'd want to smell like.

Wet is bubblegum honey and spice fading into cinnamon and vanilla.

But Ohhhhh drydown is the best! The food smells fade so that all I can make out are honey and musk. O's musk is not the same musk that I've smelled in scented deodorant or perfumes before, this musk is the oatmeal-cookie/baby smell that my very clean cat has that I have envied since I first got her. Have you ever smelled a really well-made fur coat? That is the smell.

To me O is definately a grown-up smell, but not so much sexual as warm and furry. Comforting. Confident. Luxury.
