    Dirty

In the bottle: white floral, very little cotton smell. No plumeria, which made me sad. wet: bright white floral, wth linen starting to peek out. Dry: here it is! Clean linen predominates, with underlying floral that has softened to a beautiful accessory note. I don't get the chemicall-ly detergent smell at all (I despise Tide and the like); this is perfect. Just a touch sweet and subtle.
  2. This thread had been SO great. Now in addition to my own wishlist I'm going to toss in a few for my 2 year old- she loves getting into my stuff and one can never be indoctrinated too early! She's also a big Alice fan.

    Monster Bait: Underbed

I'm so, so sad that I can't keep this one since it's got pretty much the cutest bottle ever. Wet: chocolate covered coconut candy. As others have mentioned it's not the suntan lotion coconut but a more foody version (though sadly I prefer the former.) The combo is near cloying, very strong. Never made it past this stage as I started to get hives on my test spot. Two strikes, good enough for me- off to the swaps.

This is a great daytime scent, crisp and sweet. In the imp, and wet: limeade. Yum. Tangy and sweet sugar coated citrus. As it dried, it mellowed out and the aloe and mint came forward. When dry, the musk became apparent and it was just really pretty. Didn't last long- a couple hours at most- but perfect for those warm days. I don't normally care for citrus-y scents but this one was nicely balanced.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I just slathered on some Chuparosa and got covered in red hives everywhere it touched. Anyone have any ideas what the offending component may be? It's a floral voodoo blend, no cinnamon whatsoever. *sigh* It was lovely, too.

In the imp: Wood planks. Just like when you are standing in the belly of an old wood ship. Wet: Still more wood planks. I can almost hear them creaking. Not getting anything else out of this one. Dry: The individual notes are starting to sort themselves out, and I can pick out the patchouli and the sandalwood, with some nice spicy incense. It's an interesting scent, and not bad, but I don't think I want to smell like an old ship. I'll keep the imp but not springing for a bottle.

    Hamadryad

This was my very first "Oh bleccch!" BPAL moment. The description is so lovely and so unrelated to what I got from the imp. In the imp: Big Red gum, all cinnamon. Not a big cinnamon fan. Wet: cinnamon, with mint making an appearance. Things are going from bad to worse. Dry: Cinnamon is gone, only to be replaced with menthol fumes and plastic. Nary a wood or floral to be found. Apparently the poor hamadryad's forest was razed to make way for a ben gay factory.

    Chrysanthemum Moon

I'm bummed, I had a lot of hopes for this one. On me, the ginger and the spices meld into something icky. I couldn't smell smoke as much as dust. The spices were too pungent for me and gave me a headache- it smelled like old lady potpourri. I was tempted to keep it around just in case, but I really don't think I'm going to come around to like it. Bye bye!

I'm not sure what I was expecting out of this one- metallic and cold, probably, but it didn't turn out that way on me at all. In the imp: crisp, a little minty. Wet: sweet (very unexpected!)- honeydew melon, 'green' scent, balanced by a bit of cool mint and ozone. dry: minty, herbal (the moss coming through?). Nice and summery. This was actually a lot more wearable than I was expecting. I'm still really new to BPAL but I can already appreciate what everyone is saying about Beth's impeccable ability to balance out these complex scents. I need a few more wears before I decide if it's bottle-worthy.

    Monster Bait: Underpants

My very first BPAL bottle and my very first review- and what a scent to start off with! In the bottle: Holy butter rum Batman! It's Drunk-Guy-At-The-Office-Christmas-Party Bait. Boozy and creamy and richrichrich. Wet: Still rummy but the vanilla and sandalwood are starting to seep through. If I try really hard I can smell a tinge of saffron. Dry: The rum has mellowed and just adds a richness to the vanilla and sandalwood. It's not quite foody, not quite woodsy, but a perfect balance of the two. I accidentally put on more than I intended (another noob move I suppose) but my skin seemed to drink it up so it wasn't as bad/overpowering as I thought it might be. It's soft and yummy. Overall, I'm glad I splurged for this one. And my dogs give it a thumbs up too, I've been shooing them away from trying to lick me all afternoon.
