    Who are the authorized resellers?

I have basically the same question. Where in So Cal can I find retail salons? I'm going to bat's day and figured I should stop by somewhere while I'm down there . . . I thought there was a whole foods down there somewhere that had them, but I'm also sure there's more than one in all of LA. Thanks for any help, and sorry if I'm missing the obvious. I can only answer for Dark Delicacies - they have all of the general catalogue and SOME limited edition stock (not the most recent update) and the Dark Delicacies exclusives but NO retail only Salons, because those were only for Le Pink. Anyone interested in specific retail only Salons should call and speak to someone at Le Pink directly, because someone mentioned them not having stock of all of those bottles anymore, so if you want 'em, let the store know! As far as I know, there are no Whole Foods stockists in California, so the CA places to buy Black Phoenix products would be Dark Delicacies and Le Pink. Hope that helps! Sweet! Thank you so much. That answers everything!

    Blood Kiss

Hands down one of my favorite BPALs ever. Looking at the notes though, this really shouldn't work for me. I'm generally not a fan of clove, cherry, wine, or much vetiver. But somehow this works. On my skin it's mostly musky vanilla and honey (but not HONEY like most honey blends) with a touch of clove and cherry when first applied. The vetiver stays in the background and just 'grounds' the scent. The clove and cherry burn off quickly and I end up with a lovely 'dirty' musky scent.

    The Midnight Carnival

Oh, why is it always the perfectly blended ones that I love? The ones where you can pick out nothing, it's just amazing? I'm glad someone mentioned Mr. Jacquel, as I would have never made the connection, but I definitely get a similarity here. This is Mrs. Jacquel, if you will. This is what I think rose smells like when I like it. Dusty and soft, a little sweet but oh oh so good. This is why I keep trying new things an am never content with what I have! This has the base of well aged Mr. Jacquel, with a velvety sweetness on top. I'm glad I took a chance on this one, as it has a few things that I usually don't like, but here, here they are amazing! Dear god, I think I might have to hoard this.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I figured it was because everything in them falls under the blanket term 'perfume'. If you look as cosmetics or commercial perfume, they list everything that's not perfume and perfume. It's like just listing 'spices' on food, so that good recipes can stay secret and not duplicated. Since BPAL isn't cut with anything, I'm pretty sure they don't have to list anything. Or at least that's my best guess.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I have a bottle of Shub from 2009 that doesn't say Picnic in Arkham: I could look at Knows Perfume's stock when I'm there Sunday to see if theirs omits "Picnic in Arkham" or not? Hmmmm . . . That's exactly what my bottle looks like. Guess I'll just have to order some from the lab and see if it smells different! Whatever it is, I'm in love.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Okay, I'm hoping you guys can help me out on this one. How do we know the difference between the picnic in arkham bottles and the original ones that were released as LE? I have a few that say picnic in arkham, but I also have one that's just like the arkham gc label, but without the picnic in arkham at the bottom. It's a glossy label though, so it doesn''t seem like it could be old enough to be the original. When they were first released to GC, was the picnic in arkham omitted, or did I somehow just score an original bottle of shub? Hope that makes sense, I can post pics if I need to.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I think they switched to the amber bottles around the beginning/middle of 06. My first order was late 05 and the bottles were cobalt, and my second order was when the 06 halloweenies went up and all the bottles were amber. There was some time in between there where they used both. They had to switch to the amber ones because the blue ones weren't consistently ok. I think they switched to the new GC label at the end of 09. Is the label glossy or the old paper ones? If it's glossy, I'd say it's between mid 06 to late 09 which really doesn't help much. If it's papery I'd say it was mid to late 06 when they were switching over. They started using the glossy labels then and were still in the awkward bottle phase. Hopefully that makes some sense and might help. Anyone correct me if I have my dates wrong!

Mount Misery and Sweet Hollow Roads

OMG this is amazing! I'm so glad I was able to swap for this. For some reason this really reminds me of black butterfly moon. Like if BBM had an older chain-smoking whore sister this would be her. I don't get much earth, just amazing sweet smokiness that is well grounded. MMM MMM good.

    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat

Wet this is an amazing fizzy green melon scent. Sadly, my skin eats the melon in about 45mins and I'm just left with the fizzy. Which isn't at all good, and too sweet.

    Last unicorn that sounds good

THE LAST UNICORN Frosty lilac petals, iris pallida root, orris, violet leaf, white chocolate, coconut, wild lettuce, white sandalwood, and oakmoss. THE BUTTERFLY Fuzzy brown tonka bean, golden amber, bergamot, and petitgrain. THE MIDNIGHT CARNIVAL Cruelty and confinement, small magics and penny illusions: galbanum, teak, myrrh, narcissus, patchouli, cacao, labdanum, agarwood, lavender, neroli, and black moss. ARACHNE OF LYDIA Soft brown and Tyrian purple: dusty clove and blackcurrant. MOMMY FORTUNA When the first wagon drew even with the place where the unicorn lay asleep, the old woman suddenly pulled her black horse to a stop. All the other wagons stopped too and waited silently as the old woman swung herself to the ground with an ugly grace. Gliding close to the unicorn, she peered down at her for a long time, and then said, “Well. Well, bless my old husk of a heart. And here I thought I’d seen the last of them.” Her voice left a flavor of honey and gunpowder on the air. “If he knew,” she said and she showed pebbly teeth as she smiled. “But I don’t think I’ll tell him.” Honey, gunpowder, and pleonectic, twopenny magics.

HARLEQUIN AND COLUMBINE French vanilla, red currant, sage, balsam, rosewood, mandarin, lemon peel, pomegranate, and cedar GROßVATER TANZ The evening’s celebration winds down with a traditional German folk song: rice porridge, candied fruits, heavy cream, powdered clove, and Lebkuchen. THE WALTZ OF THE SNOWFLAKES : vanilla-laced snow, graceful and sweet, with fir needle and black pine bark. EBENEZER SCROOGE A dry, dusty, soulless scent, flinty with greed, sour with ill-temper: neglected leather, oakmoss, tonka bean, black pepper, cumin, and vetiver. INCESSANT TORTURE OF REMORSE Life’s opportunity misused: opopponax, lavender, blackberry, patchouli, olive leaf, myrtle, and white cognac. THE FIRST OF THE THREE SPIRITS Shimmering white amber, voluminous vanilla, white musk, zdravetz, and summer flowers. A GOLDEN IDOL Glittering gold and loss beyond understanding: antiqued amber, English lavender, vetiver, and tea rose. CHRISTMAS EVE ON THE MOOR Windswept moor grass, grey moss, mud, and stone warmed by a small, comfortable fire IGNORANCE AND WANT Bog myrtle, wormwood accord, carrot seed, lovage, Roman chamomile, orris root, myrrh, and patchouli. A GAME CALLED YES & NO Mulled wine and marzipan. AN ALTAR TO COLD, RIGID, DREADFUL DEATH Black cedar, frankincense, and dust. Odd Portents

I didn't mean to get a bottle of this. I really thought that I was buying something else when I asked for it! I am really really happy that I made that mistake. Looking at the notes in this, almost everything is something that I usually don't like in a blend. Somehow, things all come together and it totally rocks. It's mostly rose and amber incense on me, both things I tend to avoid. The fruit is what I smell from far away, along with some smoke. Good stuff, as it gets me to break out of what I thought I liked. YAY Beth!
  14. Anyone know anything that's like the british blondes? I'm loving the atmo spray, and it doesn't seem to hurt my skin, but I'd prefer to not be spraying it on me. I love the crisp orchid and the drydown of lovely vanilla musk.

    The Lady of Lake Ronkonkoma

A very dark and greenery kind of aquatic. Nice and clean, but not anything special. Kinda has a cucumber vibe.

    The Elephantine Colossus

I'm kinda resenting the comparisons to my beloved snake oil on this one. This is awful. It's all the bad parts of red musk (that fake fruit smell) plus overly salty popcorn and a touch of rootbeer. Strong throw. Blech. It does remind me of midway: a much much worse midway.

    A Howl In The Darkness

I'm rather meh on this one. It's very very similar to wolf moon 07 and hunger moon to me, and I couldn't even justify keeping both of those. I'll try again before I ditch it, but meh.

    Pumpkin Latte

So, I've finally confessed to myself recently that I love coffee in perfume. Just not MiskU, which was my first experience with such a few years ago, and not to my liking. Anyways, this is more like pumpkin spice coffee on me at first, no milk to be found. The nutmeg seems to come out the most besides the coffee. For a fairly 'foody' scent, this has long staying power, and about 7 hours later, it has dried down to a milky caramel scent. I slept through most of this, so I will have to try it again, when I'm awake the whole time, but this seems like a winner! It has amazing throw and is very very coffee without being too sweet, until dry down, which hopefully was just a skin chemistry bad day or something.

    Jerusalem Cherry Infused Honey

This is fucking amazing! I read reviews, and it's even better than I expected. This is the sweetest tomato plant, at dusk, still hot from the day but not pungent. There's more honey in the bottle than on my skin, but it is GOOD! Quite a bit of throw on me, we'll see how long it lasts. . . ETA: It lasts! About 12 hours later it is still distinct and the same. YAY!

    Spicebush Swallowtail

This is better than expected. There is a store here that makes old school candy. Every year at christmas, mom would take me and let me pick out something for my stocking. I usually chose the sugar plum gummies and a clove ribbon candy. This smells like eating the clove candy with the sugar plums near by! A really lovely scent, the first time I've been ok with clove as a perfume.

    Blue Pumpkin Floss

This is HORRID. I had such high hopes. All cinnamon, and awful fake sugar cookie. No blueberry, no floss. Balls.

    Nothing Gold Can Stay

When I was a kid, it took me an embarrassingly long time to learn when bananas were ripe and good to eat. I blame this partly on my father, who loves them fairly green. Anyways, we always had very green bananas in the house. This scent smells like peeling a very green banana. Like when they are so green that they crunch if you bite into them. I really love this. It stays green and crisp and banana-y from application to dry down on me. I put this on Lace without telling her, as this is her favorite poem, and she loves it to. Well, only on me, as she makes it all floral-y. I definitely need a bottle of this.

    Some Questions answered

Yup, it's easier to stalk here. Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? Yes, but I prefer unlined or watercolor paper How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? Yes I do and I have no preference. I do love me some saniro. Anything wanted from latest BPAL update? Any of the inquisition scents. I have decants of the weenies coming, so I might want bottles later but we'll see. Homemade preserves (e.g. marinated veggies, pickled onions, chili jam?) . Yes please! Chili jam sounds amazing! Partial BPAL bottles? Sure, or empties. Same goes for imps. Would you like something you have to make yourself? For example, a kit to knit your own soft toy, or a card making kit, or baking kit, etc. And is there anything in particular you'd like to learn? Kits can be fun. I'd like something more fibery than knitty. Or glass blowing, but that doesn't come in a kit lol. Who is your favorite soap etailer? Anything that's cold process I'll love. I love a bunch of lush's soaps, and some others from propaganda bath, but they're dead now. What kind of make-up do you wear? What colors? Is there anything you'd like to try but haven't yet? Does nail polish count? I love polish, and could use some more zoya remove. Other than that, I don't wear makeup, besides untinted lip balm. What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? Snails or cactus. Other than that no thanks. I'm rather picky about what trinkets I'll bring in, and I can't really describe them. Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? Make it! With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? Not enough of one to mention. Do you crave many Ecards and contact or are you okay with little contact from your Witch? I kinda prefer low contact. Please no ecards. Do you have a place where you list all the BPAL you have or have tried? Haha, no, and I have no idea! Who would be on your top 5 famous people to get it on with? Uh, I can't think of five . . . Maggie Gyllenhaal, Thora Birch, Scarlet Johansen, and Christina Ricci before she got all creepy skinny. Maple sugar candy? Never tried it but I love maple syrup. Chocolate & Bacon? I love bacon anything. Chocolate bacon is pretty good. Go to your spice cabinet, what are the three most used spices? Rosemary, basil, garlic Microsoft or Apple? Apple. The only microsoft product I tolerate is xbox 360. Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? My honeymoon, almost two years ago. The lounging around and shopping. I dunno not having to worry about money. Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them? I love sending and receiving them, though I do not do it too often. Are you allergic to any food things?? Cashews and pistachios. All other nuts are fine, and if it says "processed on a facility that processes tree nuts" or something similar is fine. I'm not super allergic, but eating them makes me sick. Do you hate any food things with a passion?? Not really. I'll avoid broccoli and cauliflower and not much else. Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree? Kind of. The whole point of magazines is to have a physical copy to me. Most things that are in them are free on the internet if I want to read it on a screen. Would you like a tea cozy? No thank you. I do use a tea pot, but I don't like tea cozies. If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I'd love anything you knit. Shawls are nice, but so much work! I'd love a shawlette. Tea: loose or bagged? Preferably loose unless it's something super special that only comes in bags.

    Switchy: Most important!

I just thought of this, and I'm a little ashamed I hadn't thought of it before: If you make anything, and I mean it, I'd love to have one. I don't care if it's something I haven't mentioned I like, I'd love to see what you can do. Take pictures? send me some! I'd love to put them up on my walls. Really, I love home made things. And equally, if you don't make anything, please don't feel like I won't like store bought things. Whatever you do, I know it'll be AMAZING!
