    Manhattan

I love this! Tea and lemon and soft undercurrents of wood. Some days it's more tea, other days there's more of the wood and orchid and leather. Really, really lovely -- lots of lush power and money scent to this. It's not an everyday scent for me, but definitely something for special occasions.

    Phantom Queen

All I got out of Phantom Queen was orchid. There was some grassiness underneath, which I liked, but it was so little that I could barely smell it. It was way too powerful on me and gave me a headache very quickly. I ended up having to wash it off. I've since sent it off for a swap ... hope it works better on my friend than on me, because it strikes me as a lovely scent when it's more balanced.

    Zorya

Urgh. This one was an instant headache on me. All flowers. Just ... WHAM! I hit you in the head with my bouquet! I put up with it for several hours just to see if anything would change, but no. All I got was ... I think the jasmine, and nothing else. No spices, no musk. I haven't worn a lot of perfume before, so I'm not sure if my skin amplifies florals, but I'm beginning to think it does. It really isn't my kind of thing. I'm glad it was my frimp. ; I think it would be very pretty on my mom-in-law ... it's much more her kind of scent than mine.

    Inferno

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones in that Inferno doesn't burn me too badly. A slight bit on the back of the wrists, but not behind the ears. It is spicy, that's for sure, but I just don't associate cinnamon with the towering explosiveness of an inferno. I get mostly cinnamon, with just a bit of almond and some sort of deeper mellow scent that comes up when the cinnamon fades off. I really can't place that one. Neroli is supposed to be orange, right? It's not really a citrus scent. I don't know what it is. Anyway ... I do like Inferno, but I don't think it's properly named. I expected something ... I dunno ... sharper? Smokier? This is more sweet and candy-like to my mind, which just doesn't conjure up fire at all. I'll use up the imp, but I don't think I'll buy it again for a while.

    Neo-Tokyo

This is very light on me. It's crisp and bright, and floral without being too floral. I seem to have problems with my skin amplifying some florals. I don't seem to get much in the way of cherry ... I get lots of bamboo and what I'm guessing is the ozone scent. I like it very much, but it's a bit too ... cool? light? ... for fall and winter. I'll definitely be saving it for spring and summer.

    Rome

In the bottle: green piney goodness and old-fashioned roses On me: all rose, nothing but rose. Pink girly Victorian underwear rose. So very not-me. I really wanted the Resphigi ... I guess this will go in my swap pile and I'll be looking for a different pine scent.

    Tombstone

A celebration of one of the first commercially produced perfumes of America's Old West. A rugged, warm blend of vanilla, balsam and sassafras layered over Virginia cedar. Of my very first imp pack, I have to admit this is the one I like the best! It starts off sharp and sassafrass and woody and slightly pencil-shavings on me, and then after about ten-fifteen minutets the vanilla shows up and starts running the show. All the rest of the day I smell like dusty, rich vanilla and a hint of wood. Mmmmm. And it is long-lasting -- I put some on this morning and can still smell it faintly now, about eight hours later. I even got compliments about it from the receptionist in the doctors' office this morning. I win! I want a bottle. Broke now, but want a bottle.
