  1. Can't make out the grape here, just the melon at first which is lovely and not too sweet. There is some sort of flower in here that I recognize but can't put my finger on - lily? - it's very alkaline and unpleasant on me and ruins the melon. Sad.

  2. Did you ever read The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald? In it the little princess discovers she has a magical sort of aunt, who among other things has a beautiful bath full of stars. I was always so entranced by that - I think Dove's Heart smells the way I imagine that bath would have.

  3. Carnation and orange blossom are prominent to begin with, and then the strawberry picks up and gives this a candied flower smell. It is very strong at first, and though it calms down considerably into something pleasantly fruity, overall it's too sweet for me.

  4. I would suggest not wearing scent to the gym. When you sweat, it can actually magnify the scent quite a lot, and as you've got a somewhat captive audience, it's not really fair to the people who might be sensitive to smells or just dislike that particular scent.

I'm just thinking of one particular gentleman who uses the gym at my parents' place - he wears a cologne that I think is nasty and it just totally saturates the gym even hours after he has come and gone. Granted, that's an extreme case, and I think that BPAL given that it is alcohol free, is less likely to be offensive - but better safe than sorry.

  5. I smell the patchouli and the oakmoss, which gives this a lovely, dry sort of air. Then the leather comes up and takes over. Sort of smells like chamomile, too. How odd! Pleasant, but I'm not sure how I feel about this one.

  6. A sort of sweet citrusy floral. A little bit alkaline at first - the lily, I think. Quickly warms up and is very fresh and a little bit tart. I'd like a drink that smells like this. The lily seems to be behaving itself on me, which is rare. Overall too sweet for me, but nice.

  7. Sweet, wet flowers. Smells like a fruit I can't put my finger on. After about five minutes, something starts smelling like sour hay? Is there lily in this? Now it's going sort of doughy. This really doesn't play well with my skin, so I'll have to swap it.

  8. Testing out my decant today, and I am surprised by how much I am enjoying this. Really loving what I think is the combo of amber musk and opoponax. The blood accord is very much present and has a wonderful iron-like tang to it. Very complex yet smooth and vital. I may have to track down a bottle if possible.

  9. First on, this is really fun; I can smell the mango, sandalwood, lemon and musk and then the spicy hot cassia. I like it, but then my skin does something funky and it's just a murky mess - I'm tempted to blame the red musk, but it might be the sugar cane that's doing this one in for me. Or perhaps just the overall combo.
