To me, this was just metallic perfumey, which dried down to sweet wood. Not a winner on my skin.

This is certainly a warm, creamy sweet scent, but if amber turns powdery on you like it does on me, this may not work perfectly.

I really hoped I would like this, but on my skin, it smelled like I had been playing with a citrus Renuzit air freshener, the kind with the cone of sticky gel scent that dries into sludge over time? I used to have those in my house as a kid and thought they were great fun. This did not work on me, but it wouldn't be the first Salon that did not. It smells very nice in the vial, and my guess is that it won't pose as many problems for others.

Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?
prunesnprisms replied to quinkel's topic in Recommendations
Whew--no, that'd be one strong scent for the gym, I'd say. -
This smelled, to me, a lot like Fire Pig in the bottle, which is a dear, dear favorite of mine. On me, it really amped the sour melon rind, and I did not love it. However, as Fire Pig simply got better as the year went on, I'm planning on keeping Earth Rat in hopes that it mellows out a bit.

Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?
prunesnprisms replied to quinkel's topic in Recommendations
For me, anything that warms up nicely without being too overpowering. I've gone to the gym frequently without showering from the day before and had a perfume re-awaken on my newly warm skin. One of those I like for that is Boomslang, but I wouldn't wear it specifically to the gym--it'd knock everyone out without 24 hours to mellow it out first. -
In the vial, this smells of wonderful, sweet spicy vanilla, but on me, it's baby powder, all the way.

I received a sniffy of this oil last night, and it smelled so lovely in the bottle that I thought I would wear it to work today. I don't usually do this with new oils. They usually get the skin test on my arm first, but I had only a few drops, so I thought I may as well make the best of it. Unfortunately, this seems to reinforce my impression that my skin and the honey note in some BPAL are incompatible with each other. This scent is a lovely, warm nutty scent of a May day in the bottle, and after only a few minutes on my body, straight dust and powder. I do think it's the honey; it's done it before in other oils. If you love BPAL's honey note, and like vanilla, and nuts, you may have a lot of luck with this oil. It's really beautiful, in the bottle.

I'm a big fan. I knew today was going to be a really stressful day, so I made sure to pack my imp of Grr with me. I've applied it three times to temples and under nostrils, and third-eye area, and it keeps the nagging headache at bay. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order a bottle of this. It'll certainly get as much use as some of the stuff I own and don't use.

I reserve the right to change my mind in the future, but this is all baby powder and litchi on me (meaning, it smells a lot like Fire Pig, only Fire Pig worked, and this is...questionable). I think I might have to let it sit for a couple weeks before trying it again.

I thought I would weigh in here--be aware I have no eloquence for perfume reviews. This has no bearing on Beth's creativity, just mine. I really liked the original Milk Moon, but found it smelled just like Obatala on me, and Obatala was a good deal more available. This, I find to be milky, yes, with a small hint of cooked milk, not chilled milk. There's also a floral undertone. It reminds me more of Dana O'Shee than the original Milk Moon. My skin doesn't like it much, to be honest. It's turning into something I don't really care for.

I just thought I would weigh in here--got my bottle today, and I really like it. It's not as strong of a peppermint as some. Not enough to make your arm burn, and it doesn't reek like you've just chewed gum. I get a soft musky vanilla under it. Two hours later it's dried straight to pure tonka. ADDED March 11: I really love this scent, it is slightly minty with a lot of tonka and vanilla to round it out. The mint sticks around for a while, too.

This is a spicy peach blossom on me. It's nice, but doesn't make me need to seek out a whole bottle of it.

Rose really doesn't work on me, at all. I liked the hint of freesia I got in the wet stage, but it's far far gone, now. Hello, ROSE.
-
I liked this, although the best I can do to describe it is 'dryer sheets' or 'clean linens'. I guess that's the cedar coming out in a way that isn't normal on me.
-
As all cherry scents are, so was this one. Nyquil Cold and Cough, anyone? It calmed down after a while to straight pikaki, but that doesn't love me so much either.

This actually worked really well on me. I get lemon, lime, and a bit of blackberry. If it weren't a super-rare, I'd probably look for more of it.

The Ecstasy of Passion
prunesnprisms replied to Heavenlyrabbit's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
Passion smells like Red Lantern and Herr Drosselmeyer had sex and then he light a pipe and she lit a clove cigarette. It's certainly smokey, in other words. =) I can see how it might be someone's Passion. -
Someone put de lime in de coconut, and then mixed it up with some hot Caribbean scented sex. I am in love with Mr. Nancy, and he needs to come to my house Right. Now. ADDED March 23: I really loved this scent--all lime and dark undertones. It didn't work on my skin, so I gave my half bottle to my husband. One day after wearing it to work, though, he gave it back. Said he'd felt like he was wearing food all day and didn't like being asked what he had for lunch. Oh well, not for everyone I suppose.

This smells delighfully of apple candy on my skin. Unfortunately it fades very fast. I was very happy to have ordered a 10mL of this before they were discontinued, because I have to slather it on. It smells like a fall day of picking apples. ADDED 8/2/08: This has always been my favorite of the GC. Sweet apples, a touch of wood. Brings a smile to a bad day every time.

Swank was one I hoped I'd love. Unfortunately the pomegranate was completely consumed under the juniper on my skin, and really did not work for me.

It's in Glitter too!

I am afraid I just can't care for this. In the bottle ot me it is overly sharp and peachy. Once it's on my wrist, it turns into peachy baby powder. After it settles down for ten minutes, it's all peach again, and I think I like it, but the real final stage is all baby pownder, all the time. I'll have to find another peachy scent.

To me this smells just like dried porcini mushrooms. Not a scent I want to smell of, but very like it all the same.

to me, this is very chocolate orange. In the bottle I get butter and orange, and on me I get chocolate, a little bit of earth, or boozy, and then the orange seems to win out.
