  1. The scent? Amazing. Staying power? Also amazing. This worked best when I mixed the TP gloss with regular formula It's a 10, 3:1 (3 parts It's a 10 to 1 part gloss), about 5 sprays in my hand, then worked it through my hair. Magic! :wub2:

*FYI: I have shoulder length, salon-colored wavy-to-almost-curly superfine hair, but lots of it

  2. If DA doesn't want to, I could do the tacky ornament swap this year, too. I've done it before, and it's lots of fun. Plus I have a lot of experience running circular swaps ;)

ETA: Never mind, I see that it's already up and running!! Yay!

  3. I had high hopes for this SN. Lolita v2 is one of my all-time faves (mmm, bubblegum and smoke). This. This feels like maaaybe a distant cousin to that lotus. It's more... floral (ick)... and almost... soapy?

I'll hang onto this and see if my bottle mellows into something amazing. One can always hope.

  4. I bought this thinking, 'yum, musk!' Er, not so much. This is MUSK!!!!!! :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

    So. Yeah.

Had I known that it was the major component in Snake Oil, I'd have taken a HYUGE step back. Ah well, lesson learned.

  5. Wet: The absinthe is (no surprise) front and center, but cognac and tobacco are clearly there, too.

Drydown: The absinthe weakens considerably, leaving a sweet underpinning. There's a hint of cotton/linen in there, along with the listed notes. This scent is perfectly blended.

Late stage drydown: Very smooth. And it lasts for hours. Even next morning, I can catch a whiff of it on my wrist, and I didn't apply it heavily. 5+/5

Absinthe & Lace* is appropriate for any season/any place, and it's not so strong that it would offend anyone and yet it has impressive staying power. It's my hands-down favorite of the Laces; Beth would have to perform a lot of potion magic to knock this one out of first place. Give A&L a shot even if absinthe isn't a good note for you, because that does back off.

*Disclaimer: Absinthe is one of my best notes, so take that into consideration ;)

  6. Coconut, mango, and sugar. That's all I got. I smelled like a tropical drink (not that that's bad). My hairdresser said I smelled so good she didn't want to step away from my chair. It's not my usual kind of scent, but I do  a compliment!

  7. Chiming in ... Snow White and Snake Oil were #1 in '09 but they're scent opposites; I'd pick Snow White but it's iffy. For enabling purposes, I choose popular scents that also have quirky names, like Mouse's Long & Sad Tale and Embalming Fluid because it hooks their interest. I've given those to a couple of my sisters and they smell the same on them ;)

  8. Smut 2010

Wow. This is great stuff. There is a little underlying sharpness, and it should have some cellaring time to smooth it out, but it's already a pretty amazing scent. I wore it, lightly applied (from experience), and I could smell it the next morning. Great longevity!

Smut '06, which I also have, I picked up around 2007. It was still really sharp, even then. It didn't become really beautiful until it hit the 3-year mark, around 2009. '10 is going to get there much faster. It's well on the way already :yum:

  9. Libertine? OMG. I think it could survive a nuclear holocaust. But your best bet is a good facial scrub. I use Olay thermal dermabrasion. It's a two step kit, one is the orange scented scrubby crystals, and the other is the gel that makes it foam up. It's not cheap ($20-25 for the set) and I wouldn't buy it just for that, but I use it on my hands after I scrub my face if I've been testing, and it removes every trace of scent. I would guess any good scrubby facial cleanser would work pretty well.

  10. In the Bottle: Sort of aquatic or ozoney.

Wet: Citrus (lemon & ?) but not strong, a wood note too.

Drydown: As it dries, the lemon strengthens, but there's something definitely wintry, perhaps the juniper or fir mentioned. In just minutes, the juniper-or-whatever drowns out the citrus :( The wood hangs in, though.

This fades really fast, but would be worth trying in a locket.

  11. Another one I picked up at Dark Del on a whim :D

    In the Bottle: Cherry!

Wet: Cherry is one of my favorite notes, I'm loving this. A touch of ...cinnamon? Really good.

Drydown: It went to something herbally and generic fruit? WTF? :cry2: I may have to retest, because this was soo good in the early stages.

  12. I picked this up at the trunk show because it sounded like such an interesting scent, and I wanted to try it :D

In the Bottle: Just plain raw smelling. Has to be the civet, clobbering the florals.

Wet: Definitely not my thing. This would have to smooth out a lot for me to love it.

Drydown: I was pretty surprised, actually. It smooths out and softens, but it's still not a great scent for me. It did turn out much prettier than I expected, though, and it's very wearable ;)

  13. In the Bottle: Something indefinably interesting. No idea of the notes.

Wet: Reminds me of sitting beside a fireplace with a cuppa. An autumn scent.

Drydown: It goes to powdered sugar, very pretty. But then later...musk. Really. Fabulous. Elegant. Musk. :thud:

Must hoard many bottles.... *scuttles off*
