I wore Snow White '04 last night. Nearly 10 years old and as lovely as ever
ETA: I keep that one next to my bed, which is fairly dark, and it doesn't get opened/used that often (not that I hoard it, but it's better than lavender for a sleep aid)

Phobos is a classic lemon

The scent? Amazing. Staying power? Also amazing. This worked best when I mixed the TP gloss with regular formula It's a 10, 3:1 (3 parts It's a 10 to 1 part gloss), about 5 sprays in my hand, then worked it through my hair. Magic!
*FYI: I have shoulder length, salon-colored wavy-to-almost-curly superfine hair, but lots of it

If DA doesn't want to, I could do the tacky ornament swap this year, too. I've done it before, and it's lots of fun. Plus I have a lot of experience running circular swaps
ETA: Never mind, I see that it's already up and running!! Yay!

I had high hopes for this SN. Lolita v2 is one of my all-time faves (mmm, bubblegum and smoke). This. This feels like maaaybe a distant cousin to that lotus. It's more... floral (ick)... and almost... soapy?
I'll hang onto this and see if my bottle mellows into something amazing. One can always hope.

I bought this thinking, 'yum, musk!' Er, not so much. This is MUSK!!!!!! :hammer:
So. Yeah.
Had I known that it was the major component in Snake Oil, I'd have taken a HYUGE step back. Ah well, lesson learned.

Wet: The absinthe is (no surprise) front and center, but cognac and tobacco are clearly there, too.
Drydown: The absinthe weakens considerably, leaving a sweet underpinning. There's a hint of cotton/linen in there, along with the listed notes. This scent is perfectly blended.
Late stage drydown: Very smooth. And it lasts for hours. Even next morning, I can catch a whiff of it on my wrist, and I didn't apply it heavily. 5+/5
Absinthe & Lace* is appropriate for any season/any place, and it's not so strong that it would offend anyone and yet it has impressive staying power. It's my hands-down favorite of the Laces; Beth would have to perform a lot of potion magic to knock this one out of first place. Give A&L a shot even if absinthe isn't a good note for you, because that does back off.
*Disclaimer: Absinthe is one of my best notes, so take that into consideration

This is OMG gorgeous. For the first hour or two it was decidedly masculine, and I kept thinking 'If I could only get my DH to wear BPAL, this.. this would be the one.' Now though, I'm debating. Why share?
p.s. This one is definitely, unisex though!

Snake Oil is is uncompromising, though - you can wear it or you can't. And a lot of non-wearers don't like it. JMHO.
Morocco, Vixen, Scherezade...

Coconut, mango, and sugar. That's all I got. I smelled like a tropical drink (not that that's bad). My hairdresser said I smelled so good she didn't want to step away from my chair. It's not my usual kind of scent, but I do a compliment!

I was seduced by the siren song of those lovely, blended notes in the bottle. Then I put some on and the damned caramel grabbed me by the throat and choked me!!! *coff coff*

I just got my order today, and included was a frottle with a black & white skull and crossbones on the label. No name for the scent. Anyone know what this is?
(Sorry if this is the wrong place for my question, but I couldn't think where else it would go)

Wet: PINK!
An hour in: The iris killz the pink ded. Le Sigh.
-
I skipped straight to slapping this sucker on my skin aaand... leather? Anyone else get that? No one? *looks around*
An hour later: Still leather.
Later still: Yup. Leather. This one really hangs on too.

Chiming in ... Snow White and Snake Oil were #1 in '09 but they're scent opposites; I'd pick Snow White but it's iffy. For enabling purposes, I choose popular scents that also have quirky names, like Mouse's Long & Sad Tale and Embalming Fluid because it hooks their interest. I've given those to a couple of my sisters and they smell the same on them

Has Neptune been mentioned? That's an aquatic floral.

Is my nose broken?? I'm getting a snow note + Absinthe v7 - but it's faabulous
Must. Hoard.

Smut
in Lupercalia
Smut 2010
Wow. This is great stuff. There is a little underlying sharpness, and it should have some cellaring time to smooth it out, but it's already a pretty amazing scent. I wore it, lightly applied (from experience), and I could smell it the next morning. Great longevity!
Smut '06, which I also have, I picked up around 2007. It was still really sharp, even then. It didn't become really beautiful until it hit the 3-year mark, around 2009. '10 is going to get there much faster. It's well on the way already

I think this is the place to post this: What's the status of orders placed before paypal's latest (as usual inconvenient-to-users) rule change, re not giving the lab our emails? Will we not get a CnS? And does anyone know the date it took effect?

Libertine? OMG. I think it could survive a nuclear holocaust. But your best bet is a good facial scrub. I use Olay thermal dermabrasion. It's a two step kit, one is the orange scented scrubby crystals, and the other is the gel that makes it foam up. It's not cheap ($20-25 for the set) and I wouldn't buy it just for that, but I use it on my hands after I scrub my face if I've been testing, and it removes every trace of scent. I would guess any good scrubby facial cleanser would work pretty well.

In the Bottle: Sort of aquatic or ozoney.
Wet: Citrus (lemon & ?) but not strong, a wood note too.
Drydown: As it dries, the lemon strengthens, but there's something definitely wintry, perhaps the juniper or fir mentioned. In just minutes, the juniper-or-whatever drowns out the citrus The wood hangs in, though.
This fades really fast, but would be worth trying in a locket.

Another one I picked up at Dark Del on a whim
In the Bottle: Cherry!
Wet: Cherry is one of my favorite notes, I'm loving this. A touch of ...cinnamon? Really good.
Drydown: It went to something herbally and generic fruit? WTF? I may have to retest, because this was soo good in the early stages.
-
I picked this up at the trunk show because it sounded like such an interesting scent, and I wanted to try it
In the Bottle: Just plain raw smelling. Has to be the civet, clobbering the florals.
Wet: Definitely not my thing. This would have to smooth out a lot for me to love it.
Drydown: I was pretty surprised, actually. It smooths out and softens, but it's still not a great scent for me. It did turn out much prettier than I expected, though, and it's very wearable
-
In the Bottle: Something indefinably interesting. No idea of the notes.
Wet: Reminds me of sitting beside a fireplace with a cuppa. An autumn scent.
Drydown: It goes to powdered sugar, very pretty. But then later...musk. Really. Fabulous. Elegant. Musk.
Must hoard many bottles.... *scuttles off*
