    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

In the bottle - Sweet almost burnt cream. On the edge of cloying, what else would you expect? Wet on skin - Still on the edge of cloying but with the florals peeking through slyly. Dry down - This is a wonderfuly sweet creamy floral with a wet metal undertone that turns the sweetness to wet blood on knife hidden in a bouquet of white carnations ... I love this! Soft, yet sociopathic indeed. For once my wierd ass body chemistry works in my favour.
  2. I also get a strong hyacinth/narcissus from Diorisimo (can't spell today - sorry). It's my Mother's all time favourite but I had to get her Bluebell from Penhaligons this year instead, which she also loves (oddly enough she also demanded 2 bottles of BPAL Samhain). There's an Illyria scent that reminds of it but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was. My brain is apparently set on random today - sorry

    Coffee notes?

I know this thread had been dead a while but I need a coffee scent! I need a real coffee scent not latte, not Irish coffee but coffee - no sugar please. I have Misk U and it was very disappointing because the concept is exactly what I want just - not so darned sweet! Mata Hari didn't do it either. I'm about to make a sample purchase from Ava Luxe because they have one that sounds promising - alas Arcana's Skpping Vespers didn't do it either but surely BPAL have something? Possibly something that doesn't have actual notes listed ... anything ... please? Hopefully dierne

    Luperci

... This scent is for the Luperci, the Chosen of Faunus, the Brothers of the Wolf: raw, down and dirty patchouli, Gurjam balsam, and essence of Sampson Root sweetened with the heightened sexuality of beeswax, virile juniper, oakmoss, ambrette seed over honey and East African musk. In the bottle - Eathy, no warmth here in the bottle. Something animalistic there to be sure. Wet on skin - Much warmer. You can really smell the honey but with a healthy dose of earthy musk. Good so far Dry on skin - The Juniper is really taking centre stage now but those wonderful warm, earthy musks are still there. Later - Gentling down now but still wonderfully woodlandy and earty and I love it!

    Pulcinella & Teresina

In the bottle - Lighly sweetened wood. A little bit sickly, like over sugared tea. Please say this is going to morph ... Wet on skin - Getting, darker smokier scents now. Still wood but with burned sugar. Dry on skin - Definitely woody but that disturbing sweetness is still there. I'm not at all sure I like this one Later - Very disturbing undrtones of rotting wood here No fair I wanted to like this one!

    Belladonna

In the imp - It's green! No really the oil is actually green in colour. We likes this we does It smells greenish too, theres a touch of floral as well and the slightest touch of astringency. Wet on skin - The astringent smell is still there but mellowing and the floral is becoming more pronounced. Dry on skin - Much more eathy now with the florals keeping low and pine floating to the top. Liking this. Later - The pine is only vaguely there now. Dried down to an earthy floral with a decadent sweetness. Not at all unpleasant. I don't think I'll be wanting a bottle though.

    Thirteen (13)

In the bottle - chocolate and orange and this smells so good! It's almost like being in a box of Thornton's! I don't go for foody or sweetie scents but ... Wet on skin - the chocolate has faded into the base of a wonderful rich sensous melange of scent.Dark but with that int of orange ... Dry on skin - Still the same base but with a sweetness rising, a very pleasant sweetness at that - I was expecting to have to swap this away but ... Later - Still amazingly nice, more cocoa now than chocolate and sweet, slightly spicy orange and I really, really like this. Damn you and you making me like foody scents you!

    Chrysanthemum Moon

In the bottle - This smells gorgeous! Light and warm and yet there's a richness too. Gentle floral undertones and equally gentle spices. Wet on skin - Still subtle but the ginger jumps up my nose. Not so obvious close up but at about an inch from your skin theres a wonderful spicy floral. Dry on skin - Still light and warm and spicy. No one note predominates but it's beautiful nevertheleass. Later - Now it's warmer but still much the same. I really like this one. It's a keeper.

    White Rabbit

In the imp - Milk and honey with just a breath of citrus. Wet on skin - Darker and softer than in the imp. Rich and warm with gentle spices. Dry on skin - Much the same. This is a good thing. Later - The tea is really coming through and and adding depth to this but it's still warm and gently spicy. Another definite keeper. Possibly even a find a bottle of ...

    The Apothecary

In the imp - Iced tea. light citrus over sharp tea leaves. Wet on skin - More tea. Less citrus. Warm without being sweet. Dry on skin - Definitely the sharpness of tea with a slight undertone of warm citrus and a grounding of ... something. Later - dries to down and loses the sharpness a warm green earthy smell. Like lying in the herb garden on a warm day just after you've watered. Yes - I like this one.

    Dove's Heart

In the imp - lightly floral and slightly sweet with a hint of scary jasmine in the background. Wet on skin - I'm getting a dry jasmine but the way the flowers smell as opposed to the icky soap I usually get from jasmine on my skin. With something warm and faintly green underneath. Dry on skin - Not entirely sure how to describe this ... jasmine is there in the background, or something very like it but it's also got a warm bread and honey feel to it. I'm not hating this one ... Later - Something woody ( maybe lavender?) coming through now and adding balance to the sweet warmth. I do believe I like this one too. It does help you find peace.

    Where is this scent?

Thankyou. I had looked at the TAL site but like I said I was clearly being dumb. I see it now. Thankyou again.

    Where is this scent?

I'm probably being incredibly dense and doing the whole not seeing the wood for the trees here but I just won an eBay auction that included a TAL named "Temple: Black Arts" and I can't find it on the site. Can anybody help please??

    Despair

In the bottle - Something soft and round and potentially resinous. This may not be a good thing, resin has been making me feel ill so far ... Wet on skin - Resin fades and leaves me with a odd floral note. I think I found some ylang ylang in there ... Dry on skin - Is a pleasant sort of scent. Not grabbing me overly at the moment but a pleasant rounded, warm floral. Not at all what I expected. Later - Softer and more woody but a warm well rounded floral keeps grabbing my attention in a very understated way. Definitely not at all what I expected from Despair but I like it none the less.

    Queen Mab

In the bottle - Warm, soft and fruity with undercurrents of floral. Wet on skin - Gets warmer and there are sweet berries in there and honey. Yum. Dry on skin - Warm, rich and honeyed with a strong floral presence but not "flowery". Later - I love this scent. It's definitely a keeper and there may be another bottle in my future ...
