    Ophelia

My first reaction was "ugh". It had a note on my skin that reminded me of medicine without being medicinal-the fake sweet taste they put in children's medicine to get them to drink it. Unfortunately I think it was the rose... While I didn't like it, I can see how this fits Ophelia. It is wistful and vulnerable, indeed. While it didn't work for me, it was still spot-on.

    Anne Bonny

Anne Bonny is unfortunately not what I expected, for although it's true to the description and notes I was hoping for something a little more musky-this is very woody on me. In fact it's reminding me so much of Katmandu that at first I thought I had put Katmandu on by accident. However, this is grounded in something less sharp and more round-probably the musk that I was hoping would be more prominent. Don't get me wrong, I do like this scent and will use up the imp. But I was expecting big things from Anne-mostly because she's got my name, and because I'm a pirate nut. I got an idea in my head of something more creamy, and this isn't doing that.

    Dana O'Shee

I put on Dana O'Shee today before an ophthalmologist appointment hoping it would calm me down and take my mind off my very unhappy eye. It did give me something else to think about, although it didn't make my eye feel better... Starting out on me I can't pick out individual notes, just a very warm, calm, comforting scent. The milk seems apparent, somehow, although I can't get the note-just that kind of homey, round smell that hovers around Dana's edges. After a few minutes it morphs into pure vanilla on me. I somehow found this stage very evocative-I got a picture of my house, with a candle sitting on the counter and our bitter Wisconsin winter outside. Much in keeping with the idea of Dana-comfort and homeyness against something wild and untameable. Eventually it morphs back into the original scent, and loses the only-vanilla feel. The sweet grains seem to become more apparent as it ages, but overall the scent is very consistent and hard to pick notes out of. Dana fades fast on me and after about an hour is only detectable close to the skin.

    Danube

It's ridiculously hot here today so I grabbed Danube for a little cool-off. I get this beautiful blue, watery feeling from this scent-deep, slow-moving, cool river pools. It starts as just a "water" smell-not like an aquatic note, but like the flowers have very strong watery tones of their own. A little way through I do pick up a new floral note-this seems a little to sweet and heady for this blend, and I don't really like it. As it sinks in a little more I seem to detect a slight herbal tinge underneath-does that smell like sage? Mind you, I'm terrible with notes and I have to practically cram my wrist into my nose to get that. Overall I love how evocative this is-the perfect picture of a slow, clear river.
