  1. The encroaching darkness: black orchid, jonquil, white pear, white amber, gardenia, olibanum, champaca, sweet clove, tonka, oakmoss, and blue musk.

Wow this is pretty! The pear and jonquil notes are strongest for me and for some reason it's reminding me of a less cloyingly headache-inducing version of Dior's Poison. Me likey!

  2. For use only by women. An extremely potent passion blend, used to great effect when you're converting feminine sexual energy into power.

When I first applied Queen, my nose wrinkled up at the sweet, herbally overtones and I immediately flung the imp into the swap pile.

But then something magical happened. The herbs backed off and it mellowed into a mesmerizing sweetness which I can't stop huffing. And neither can hubby. :P

My best guess at possible notes include vetiver and lavender, and something vanilla-ish.

    Just lovely.

    edit: added lab description

  3. I'm in Australia, not the UK but we also pay $13 for 12 items or less. The Lab has in the past quoted me $22 postage for 13 - 24 items and that's how much postage I paid the Lab last month for my order which was 16 items. Of course it may differ to the UK but that might give you a ballpark. :P

My query's similar to hadaverde's from a couple of months ago.

Could somebody in the UK give me some shipping cost advice if ordering over 12 items? I'm looking to get moving on CD blends over the next few months, starting with this one. I HAVE emailed the lab a couple of times over the past week, but they're naturally up to their eyeballs with stuff so I don't want to poke at them any more.

What I'm hoping to do is order CD sets over the coming months until they go away. I'm going to be able to get free orders on a couple of them, but not all and, for the most part, the sets are in quantities of 13+ bottles so they're just outside the $13 shipping rate.

In a rambly way, what's the next price up and up to how many bottles from 13 will it cover me for?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Months ago, I ordered an imp of O from the lab, and since getting it I've acquired another as a frimp from the lab. One of the imps is pale yellow and the other is a deeper, more orangey yellow and smells more honeyish. The viscosity appears the same in both. I can't for the life of me remember which one arrived first but one would only be two or three months older than the other.

Has one imp somehow aged heaps faster than the other? Or could it be just a component issue? What is the most usual colour for O? I'm torn whether to get a bottle or not, as the paler version disappears into my skin within an hour but the darker imp is beautiful honeyed gorgeousness.

  5. I've long been fascinated by the concept of Kataniya and I finally acquired an imp to try. At first sniff, I'm amazed at how well the oil fits the idea (maybe amazed is too strong a term, as I've come to expect amazing things from Beth's art). A warm, ozonic floral......who'd have thunk it?

A few swipes of the imp wand across my wrist........recap imp.........sniiiiiiiiiiffff! Flowers getting warmer.........and warmer..........and..............soapy-ish. The soap continues to take over, until it's 100% soap.

    Feck. :P

  6. This is a buttery-cinnamon, slightly creamy Sugar Skull. I was hoping for more milkiness.

I should really stop trying to force myself to become a foody-smell lover. I don't think it's going to happen.

  7. Some reviewers have compared this to a commercial perfume and I concur. To me, it's smells quite similar to Giorgio (you know, in the yellow & white striped box? Which I mind not a bit seeing as I used to love and frequently wear Giorgio :P ).

I'm sure that's not the intended connotation, but now it's in my head, that's all I'm getting.....

  8. The Peacock Queen is definitely a rose that prefers to keep you at a distance, unlike sister Rose Red who tried to smother me!

PQ is a gorgeous rose, and I prefer her laid back casuality to her sister's in-your-face assault.

  9. Wow! This is like getting swatted over the head with a bunch of long-stemmed, blood-red, dew-covered roses. If I inhale it too much, the world spins.

As cheesy as it is, roses are my favourite flower, and this is lovely, but may be a little bit too much rose even for me!

  10. Sugar Skull 05

Just bought a partial bottle of this one.....

Whoa! The throw on this almost bowled me over! All I did was unscrew the bottle lid, and some of the oil must have launched itself at my fingertips, because now it's all I can smell! Oh well, might as well slather!

    *slather slather*

To me, Sugar Skull smells like stirring spoonfuls of brown sugar through a cupful of maple syrup -> kind of a caramelly maple syrup.

I love Beth's sugar notes and this one seems to work well on me. Zarita is still my favourite so far though!

  11. I echo most of the other reviewers who proclaim this to be a gorgeous blend! Thalassa is my favourite so far of Beth's aquatics, and she has done a masterful job with the Mermaid.

No notes stand out and scream to me, but I get the impression of a warm summer breeze fresh from the ocean. Our summer is just ending here, so I will be saving Thalassa for December.

    Just lovely.

  12. At first sniff, pure smooth chocolatey goodness. When I put it on, I am struck by a comparison that prevents any other from surfacing: somebody spilled a bottle of Aquolina's Pink Sugar into a vat of molten chocolate. Yup, chocolate flavoured Pink Sugar......only nowhere near as sickeningly sweet as PS. A quieter, smoother, chocolate Pink Sugar.

Makes me wish I was more of a foodie-person. Good stuff!

  13. Wet, this is a sticky butterscotchy sweet caramel (reminds me of Butterscotch Schnapps in the bottle) but once applied, this quickly dissipates down to a sweet foil for the smoky spices which blossom forth. Quite unusual and lovely.

Verdict: will use up my bottle, but I see no need to hoard it.
