For those of you who try BPAL, you know how with certain scents it can smell like it could really be either delicious or an utter disaster? This starts like that, with a nasal cacophony of scent. I really should know by now that cedar-containing scents rarely smell good on me, and this one is no exception. I think I'd like this better without the cedar. The sandalwood comes out on me later, but the florals vie with it, and it does not settle nicely on me. If it stayed more sandalwood and less gardenia, I'd be much happier with it. I finally did smell the cumin towards the end, but this scent is definitely not for me.

Apples with substance in the bottle. On me, it's all wet apples all the time at the very beginning. Florals, leaves, and grasses come out after that fades, with red current over the very top. It's not bad on me, but it's not my favorite; it's interesting, but not delicious.

This has no lilac in it, but in the bottle it almost smells like it does. Also soapy in the bottle. On me, it almost smelled good, but quickly went from "pleasant but boring" to "soap, soap, and more soap", followed by dusty florals. Not a fan.

I can definitely smell the rice wine and grapefruit in the bottle, and a few other distinct notes. On me, it smells wet, juicy, and fruity first, floral second. The floral is fading pretty quickly, leaving wet and grapefruit behind, with a dusty floral note in the end of each sniff which is fading. I smell like I've just stepped out of the shower after using grapefruit shampoo. It seems to be fading to vanilla and lotus with a trace of tang to it. It's not a lickingly sexy scent, and I like it, but 15 minutes later, my skin appears to have utterly eaten it with barely a trace. Sad.

In the bottle, it's very much peach and persimmon, with the mango lingering in the background. On me, it is sharpening to persimmon and mango, with a tartness that makes my mouth water when I sniff it. It almost has a cranberry wine kind of tanniny bite to it. It seems to be coming back to ripe peaches and persimmons, with a distinctly floral undertone. I really like this one, though I must remember not to wear it around a friend of mine because she is violently allergic to mango, including in scents. It smells a bit like Fae on me, but sharper.

I got an empty of this with my Tanuki Decant Circle package. This smelled so. very. sexy. in the bottle, musk and leather with a touch of lilac. Sadly, on me, it flattens. I don't know what ti leaf, tonka absolute, or oudh smell like, but I suspect it's at least one or two of those coming out strong on me. The sexiness goes away and it just becomes leather with some flowers. It smells like a dignified old gentleman who used to be quite the lover but find his interests elsewhere now. Not my favorite on me. I bet that there are certain people it would smell AMAZING on.

    Goblin Cider

This was like muddy molasses and cinnamon with a hint of rotting apple in the bottle. On me, though, it went rich, warm apple immediately, with just a hint of ginger. The cinnamon is coming more as it dries. I can even smell the apple seeds. This cider has been mulling on the stove all day, filling the house with its dusty apple spice scent. Yum. I bet I could wear Three Witches with this one. I am delighted that this is a General Catalog scent. I will be buying some when I have the budget to do so.
